If you’re doing Batfam headcanons? Can you do Harper and Cullen? You’re like the only person who actually mentions them😞
Cullen is the 3AM chef and Harper only lets it happen because he makes some for her
Harper's better at noticing people's nonverbal cues from constantly being hypervigilant of their dad, while Cullen is better at noting small changes in their environment
Cullen is absolutely a TikTok e-boy and forces his sister to stand here and film him
At the end of every patrol, Cullen orders takeout and makes Harper pick it up like his own personal DoorDash
They have some pet fish, but instead of putting them in one big tank, they have a bunch of smaller ones scattered around their apartment
Cullen is surprisingly a diva when it comes to having the aux. Like, it HAS to be his or he'll spend the whole car ride pouting
They're both huge Black Canary fans and one day win a "mysterious" Wayne Enterprises sweepstakes to see her backstage
They fall asleep to Animal Planet
While Harper is resident the mechanical genius, Cullen has a knack for architecture and casually sketches a bunch of Batcave renovations that Bruce actually considers
Cullen writes Destiel fanfic, which Harper reviews by listening to them while she works
Their place smells like hair dye, ramen, and blueberry scented candles
Their most well-guarded secret is that they keep stealing Batmobile tires and blaming it on Jason

As Grim as the Reaper | Simon 'GHOST' Riley PREQUEL
Ghost x Reader, Graves x Reader
CHAPTER TWENTY ONE
Tumblr media
Phillip Graves x AFAB!Reader!OC 18+ MINORS DNI! t.w // angst, mental health, language, violence, death, sexual themes/SMUT, military inaccuracies, language inaccuracies (google translate).
As Grim as the Reaper: Masterlist
Shepherd said you'd be suspended; guess he was right.
Suspended on the grounds of medical aid. Mandated two months' daily two-hour sessions with the resident Special Ops therapist.
That's what the letter you'd received after the review of the cams footage stated. The one that Graves delivered to you personally, and wordlessly.
He could barely look at you since he saw the footage, and you couldn't really blame him. Who would want to look at such a monster?
Because, that's what you were, right?
Only a monster would do what you did.
"Is that what you truly think?"
"Huh?"
Your vacant eyes moved from the blank spot on the wall that you'd been focusing on to land on the woman in front of you.
Mid-40s, auburn hair, beautifully curled. A sleek, white pantsuit. Louboutin's.
A distinguished woman.
"You just said, you think yourself a monster. Why?" she spoke again.
You shivered slightly, concern running through you at the fact that you hadn't even registered that you'd been talking out loud.
"Because I am, aren't I? You saw the footage, you know what I did. It's there in your little file." you responded, gesturing to the brown folder sat on the glass coffee table in between the two of you.
And sat right next to it, was your mask.
Reaper's mask.
Staring at you, taunting you.
"Yes, I did. And what I saw was a woman struggling in grief, whilst doing her job. No monster there."
"I'm a monster!" you said, voice raised to a level that shocked both of you. "I can see it on everyone's face. Shepherd, Laswell, my own fucking fiancé won't even look at me...touch me. He hates me. They all hate me."
"'Monster' is a relative term, (Y/N). To a canary, a cat is a monster. Do you think cats are monsters?"
You shook your head, looking down at your hands in your lap as you sat cross-legged on the sofa. It felt soft under you, cosy, safe.
"Exactly. So, why should I be so inclined to believe that you are?"
"Dunno, Doc."
Drowning in the grief, you didn't do too well with remembering things lately, and so you had been referring to your therapist as 'Doc', not that she minded. She was being patient with you, this was only your first week, after all.
She let out a frustrated sigh, clearly realising this was as much as she was going to get out of you.
"Have you contacted your brother?"
"No."
"What about your friends?"
You scoffed, "Friends?"
"As I understand it, Sergeant Keller is your best friend. That's what you said in our second session, no?"
"He's busy. John too."
"Too busy to know you're hurting?" she questioned.
Yes.
What kind of person would you be if you called up, begging for them to drop everything to be with you? You're not selfish. What they were doing in Mexico was way more important than whatever you were going through.
Task Force 141 were the absolute best of the best, the elite; they didn't need to be pulled apart by some damsel in distress.
"They don't need to know. Can't have them worrying about me when they're dodging bullets from terrorists."
"You understand that you need to have more support around you than just me, don't you, (Y/N)?"
"Got Laswell."
"And your fiancé?" she nodded to your ring, that you were mindlessly spinning around your finger.
The mention of Graves had tears springing to your eyes, and the ache deep within your heart began to burn.
Doc shuffled in her seat, placing down her notes and leaning forward on her chair. She knew she'd found the reason for your uncooperativeness in this session.
"Tell me more about that."
"Fuck, Doc, you're good. I'll give ya that." you sniffed, pulling your ring from your finger and examining it.
You weren't surprised when Phillip Graves presented you with one of the biggest diamonds you'd ever seen. It was encased in glowing silver, the diamond twinkling in the light. Truly, it was absolutely breath-taking, but you were never one for lots of glamour. You were more subtle, opting for dainty jewellery.
But Phillip Graves was a southern show-off.
He wanted everyone to know you were off limits, taken by a man who could look after your every need.
You used to think his protectiveness - possessiveness - of you was endearing, even a little sexy, but now, you started to feel more like an object than a partner.
You didn't want to be the pretty little housewife, the trophy he could proudly present. You wanted to make a difference in the world.
And that difference within the relationship was becoming all too painstakingly clear.
"It's funny how one disaster can bring the cracks of others to the surface, isn't it?" you spoke solemnly, a single tear falling from your eye.
"What do you mean by that?"
"He's staying home more, but we're not talking. The best I get is a cuddle in bed before we sleep. We sit in silence, eat in silence, he comes home from work...nothing. If we do talk, we fight."
"What do you fight about?"
"Everything. The wedding, being a wife. The way he behaved when I came home after...yeah. Don't think he wants me anymore, Doc."
The look she gave you was sympathetic; she obviously wanted nothing more than to reach over and comfort you. You'd stolen her heart, that's for sure. But professionalism had to prevail, you were her patient, not her friend.
"And how does that make you feel?"
"Lost. Like I don't belong anymore. I don't know who I am anymore."
"Grief is hard. It tears you apart and it stays with you forever, you never get rid of it. But that's okay, experiencing grief is a good thing, because it shows you cared. It shows how much the people you lost meant to you. It is normal to lose yourself a little while you work through that."
"I'm scared." You admitted.
"Fear is natural, (Y/N)."
You continued talking to the therapist, touching on the grief you've experienced in your past. The grief of losing your parents so young, the grief of the time John almost died on a mission. The grief of almost dying yourself, and experiencing the time Alex went MIA, presumed dead.
For someone still young, you'd experienced enough grief to last several lifetimes.
And now, you were mourning the loss of your self-made family, with the added guilt of not being able to save them.
"Do you mind if we dial back a little for the last hour of the session? You've been doing fantastically, but something you said has bothered me, and I think we need to address it in order to move forward."
Drying your eyes with the tissues she'd handed you, you looked up with a raised brow.
"I'm not sure what more I can take today, Doc."
"You've done fabulously, Lieutenant, but you mentioned it today, so we will be addressing it today." She firmed.
You took a moment, releasing a breath, "Okay."
"You said, you and your fiancé are not coping. How so? Expand on that for me."
As she spoke, she picked up her notepad once more, crossing one leg over the other. A quick nod to you to signal you to begin talking.
It was the way he looked at you.
The way he physically recoiled when you stepped off the helo, covered in blood. The way he yelled, begging you to tell him what the fuck you'd done, how you'd compromised the entire mission, how you'd compromised yourself.
You knew then that you needed help. Laswell had held you the entire way back as you sobbed, she was the only one you'd let touch you.
And when you got home, you wouldn't let Graves touch you either.
Not when he looked at you like that.
It had been two weeks since then, and he marched through the door, handing you that letter. Tossing it onto your lap before he stormed upstairs, and you heard the shower.
You moved up, opening the door to your shared bedroom slowly, shutting it behind you before slipping on his discarded hoodie.
It still smelt like him, and it made you feel a little warmer inside.
You sat on the bed, legs crossed and picking at your fingernails until he came through the door of the en-suite, hair damp and a towel wrapped around his waist. He looked at you briefly, but didn't say a word, and walked to the opposite side of the room to get ready for bed.
Sighing, you pulled the hood over your head, and climbed into bed, covering yourself as much as possible so he couldn't see the way you squeezed your eyes shut to stop from crying.
The bed dipped behind you as he got in, back facing you.
"Are you gonna go?" He finally spoke.
"Yeah." You whispered back.
"Good. You start tomorrow, then."
"Okay. 'Night."
You pulled your knees up, practically lying in the foetal position in an effort to mask your heavy breathing as tears dripped onto the sleeves of the hoodie.
Graves sighed once more, before rolling over and scooting himself close behind you. Immediately you were warmer from having him close, but the second his arm reached over, slipping around your waist, you flinched, and tried to scoot away.
"Fuck, (Y/N)." He mumbled, "Just let me fuckin' touch you. Please."
"I-I'm s-sorry, I can't-"
"Please baby, lemme hold you, please."
You took deep breaths, desperate to soothe the panic rising within you. You wanted him to touch you, of course you fucking did. You wanted him to hold you and love you. But every time he came near you, you relived that look on his face.
Forcing yourself to relax, you uncurled your legs, and shuffled back until you rested flush against his chest, and the second you touched him, his arms came around you, scooping you up and pulling you in tighter.
He could feel you shaking, and he buried his head into the nape of your neck, pressing light kisses and breathing in your scent, his hands fastening at your waist.
"We'll be okay, right?" You asked, hand locking onto his that rested over your stomach.
He was silent for a while, until he tightened his grip on you once more.
"I don't know."
Doc wrote down everything you said, listening intently as you retold the story of the moment you realised that your relationship was in trouble.
She was quiet, supportive, encouraging.
Everything you needed to feel safe here.
"And that's how I know we're not coping."
"I understand." She said, pursing her lips, "I'm sorry you're experiencing that. Trauma affects people in different ways. For him, he's seeing the woman he loves break, and he doesn't know how to help you. Perhaps he blames himself for that."
"He was there. He knows what happened, and I think he's keeping something from me."
"Then my advice for you is to communicate that. Find the right time, and have a real, serious talk about this. It's the only way we can move you forward. I believe it's the only way you can be yourself again...get back to wearing this."
As she spoke, she gestured to the mask that lay on the table.
It was clean now. It was the first thing to be washed when Laswell got you out of those bloody clothes.
So why could you still see the stains?
Why could you see red every time you looked at it?
There were a lot of things you were unsure of, but this...
No.
You were sure about this.
You couldn't be Reaper anymore. Because she was a monster.

Silent Hills 2006
I haven't really heard much about these movies besides that they have haters I guess? but we just got through all 6 Resident Evil movies so I think I can be a true judge of that.
This has got to be one of the least subtle movies I've ever seen, I mean maybe all silent hills are obvious about their symbolism once you know them but yeesh, Character who worries about her troubled daughter is attacked by weird child-like monsters. coincidentally they seem to be slightly on fire, and when our main character wakes up back in the real world, she awakens to Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire, and there's mention of some long-burning coal seams that a child was once dropped into? Probably doesn't mean anything though. There's miners too, with a canary and everything. The plots pretty good besides that, it's a pretty straight line like most Silent Hill games, you go a place and an encounter happens, you find a hint to your next goal and the cycle continues like 5 times. I really like how they went with the ending though once they have the big lore explanation, not the direction I expected them to take. But then the actual ending-ending, I was kind of confused? it doesn't really fit right.
Love the set design and CGI in this one, it really is Silent Hills in there with the ash and mist to the rusty and grimy otherworld, it looks really good. The bit in the school where the bathroom shifts to the otherworld? Looks amazing The CGI for the monsters however, not so good. The horde of weird baby looking things were really bad, the Lying Figure from Silent Hill 2 shows up and it looks generally better though so maybe it was just those? Pyramid Head looks pretty good too, he rips someones skin off.
I'm a fan of the music they put in this one, it fits it being a Silent Hill movie, true to form you might say. I think it's just songs from the games actually? which, while not entirely fitting at some points, is extremely cool.
Final Review: Yeah I gotta say that was a surprisingly really good movie, I was expecting a mid-tier video game movie a la doom or resident evil but no that was actually solid and referenced the games well, huge for Silent Hill fans, recommended watch for sure.

From the report, posted 30 July 2021:
The document makes clear that vaccination provides substantial protection against the virus.
But it also states that the CDC must “improve communications around individual risk among [the] vaccinated” because that risk depends on a host of factors, including age and whether someone has a compromised immune system.
The document includes CDC data from studies showing that the vaccines are not as effective in immunocompromised patients and nursing home residents, raising the possibility that some at-risk individuals will need an additional vaccine dose.
The presentation includes a note that the findings and conclusions are those of the authors and do not necessarily represent the CDC’s official position. The internal document contains some of the scientific information that influenced the CDC to change its mask guidance.
The agency faced criticism from outside experts this week when it changed the mask guidance without releasing the data, a move that violated scientific norms, said Kathleen Hall Jamieson, director of the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania. “You don’t, when you’re a public health official, want to be saying, ‘Trust us, we know, we can’t tell you how,’” Jamieson said. “The scientific norm suggests that when you make a statement based on science, you show the science. … And the second mistake is they do not appear to be candid about the extent to which breakthroughs are yielding hospitalizations.”
The breakthrough cases are to be expected, the CDC briefing states, and will probably rise as a proportion of all cases because there are so many more people vaccinated now. This echoes data seen from studies in other countries, including highly vaccinated Singapore, where 75 percent of new infections reportedly occur in people who are partially and fully vaccinated.
The CDC document cites public skepticism about vaccines as one of the challenges: “Public convinced vaccines no longer work,” one of the first slides in the presentation states.
Walter A. Orenstein, associate director of the Emory Vaccine Center, said he was struck by data showing that vaccinated people who became infected with delta shed just as much virus as those who were not vaccinated. The slide references an outbreak in Barnstable County, Mass., where vaccinated and unvaccinated people shed nearly identical amounts of virus. “I think this is very important in changing things,” Orenstein said.
A person working in partnership with the CDC on investigations of the delta variant, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak, said the data came from a July 4 outbreak in Provincetown, Mass. Genetic analysis of the outbreak showed that people who were vaccinated were transmitting the virus to other vaccinated people. The person said the data was “deeply disconcerting” and a “canary in the coal mine” for scientists who had seen the data.
If the war has changed, as the CDC states, so has the calculus of success and failure. The extreme contagiousness of delta makes herd immunity a more challenging target, infectious-disease experts said.
“I think the central issue is that vaccinated people are probably involved to a substantial extent in the transmission of delta,” Jeffrey Shaman, a Columbia University epidemiologist, wrote in an email after reviewing the CDC slides. “In some sense, vaccination is now about personal protection — protecting oneself against severe disease. Herd immunity is not relevant as we are seeing plenty of evidence of repeat and breakthrough infections.”

Get this:- (What began as a plague of anonymous fact-checkers attempting to elevate their preferred politics, has metastasised into a truth manufacturing line with the same quality control as a Wuhan mask factory.) NAILED IT.
Probably the best article you will read today and will most likely be ignored because its long it needs to go viral.
(Spectator)
I hope you all have a good memory, because you are going to need it.
Modern political events are being re-written in real-time – dare we say it – ‘whitewashed’ by the unanimous vote of the unelected press. What began as a plague of anonymous fact-checkers attempting to elevate their preferred politics, has metastasised into a truth manufacturing line with the same quality control as a Wuhan mask factory.
There is a danger that the only faithful record of our era will be the one decaying inside our memories. It is a shame that civilisation has fallen back into this bad habit of allowing the powerful to coerce the truth, seizing control on a scaffolding of lies. That said, there is never anything new regarding the squabbles of humanity. The dramatic events of the past few weeks are, in the proper historical context, a tired repeat of the poorly produced saga of our species. These episodes have different authors and a fresh cast, but their underlying story remains the same.
Liberty creates prosperity. Prosperity creates power. Power creates tyranny. Tyranny creates civil upheaval.
After this, the way forward is uncertain. More often than not, the battle for liberty is lost and the citizenry can do little more than lament the freedoms that were so easily and swiftly surrendered to the mob.
If we are to successfully defend our democracy, preserving the historical record is essential. Failure to do so will leave us in the goldfish bowl of fortune, circling the water with Big Brother looking in – distorted and immense on the other side of the glass.
In 2021, our history is guarded by Silicon Valley. We rent space on their cloud servers and entrust companies like Amazon and Google with our private information – usually without reading their terms of service. One accident at a hosting centre or arbitrary censorial act has the potential to erase businesses and memories. Most people place so much faith in these companies that they do not bother backing anything up for safekeeping.
Our civilisation is awash with data hosted by corporate third parties. While most of us are old enough to remember an age before digital streaming, our youngest generations have lived their lives in the palm of Big Tech. They have entwined themselves with these companies in such a way that any attempt made by the wider community to threaten Silicon Valley’s empire will be resisted by devout technological serfs.
When did Social Media’s control of the historical record begin?
Wikipedia was a shiny new thing when I was in high school. Instead of traipsing to the library to locate a reference book that probably wasn’t even filed in the right place, we were gifted this crazy website out of nowhere. Wikipedia was essentially crack for the academic class, providing instant gratification for knowledge-seekers. Type in the question and voila! all the work was done for you. No more waiting in line at the photocopier with an idiot attacking a paper jam with a pair of scissors.
It was like cheating, and that was certainly what our teachers called it. Despite having this glorious database of seemingly infinite knowledge, no one was allowed to use it for anything other than time-wasting ‘wiki-surfing’. (If you haven’t done it, don’t start.)
Our teachers had two objections to the rise of Wikipedia.
The first was a (perfectly reasonable) fear that it would make our inquiring minds lazy. With everyone receiving instant answers, there was no opportunity to stumble over the complexities of a topic. Wikipedia left classrooms in danger of forming monotonous opinions.
Which brings us to the second concern. Wikipedia was given authority over the truth because of its usability, not quality.
Conceived in an open-source environment, it invited thousands of users to post entries about topics which other users then edited – collaborating to create a vast network of information that quickly outstripped the dictionary cabal. With enough people interacting, it was assumed that the truth would win out. Generally speaking, that was the case.
It later became obvious that absolute freedom over information in a publishing environment had a few flaws – namely – humans could be real little shits when they set their minds to it. A common muck-up day activity involved editing the school’s Wikipedia entry with the level of hormone-induced humour that you’d expect.
As usual, politics ruined everything.
The official pages of contentious public figures were the first to be vandalised by bad actors attempting to defame and damage their political opposition. These budding propaganda agents soon learned that subtle changes were the most effective because they went unnoticed for longer. Slight edits to history could be compounded over time, gradually altering the accepted truth until it became the only truth.
As an intellectual product, Wikipedia was simply too good to die from its wounds. It fed off the accumulation and summation of vast quantities of knowledge. Dictionaries, encyclopedias, thesauruses – they all joined this digital abyss, leaving our language vulnerable to shifting definitions. As Wikipedia’s traditional market competition learned, information grows too fast to filter through layers of validation. If you can’t keep up, you die off. This is the exact same dynamic playing out between legacy media and social media.
Wikipedia’s influence over society became so acute that it suffered censorial attacks by the European Union when the commission launched Articles 11 and 13 in 2019. This caused a crisis of intellectual freedom across the world that went largely unreported by the mainstream press. In response, Wikipedia blacked out swathes of the European continent until amendments were made. Extraordinary, considering the inflexibility of the EU.
Things declined rapidly with the rise of Cultural Marxism. Wikipedia became the choking canary, wiggling its legs at the bottom of a mine shaft while a cuckoo took up residence. Its articles have since been heavily edited to bring them in line with the prison cell of social justice. Instead of recording knowledge, Wikipedia’s primary goal is to avoid causing offence, leaving the site rife with contradictions and politically correct fiction. It capitulated to these censorial demands and maintained its position as caretaker of (revised) information.
For all the power Wikipedia has, it pales in comparison to social media – a conglomerate in charge of the real-time recording of history. Forget editing the facts; they aren’t even making it to print.
With the US election over, the next information scandal will revolve around medical tyranny. When China’s Covid-19 became a Catch 22 for the global political class (who are terrified that private citizens will sue them for incompetence), discussion surrounding vaccines became intrinsically linked with the survival of those in power.
Medical advances have always created conflict between healthcare, politics and corporate – especially with the global vaccination market worth almost $US60 billion in 2020.
‘Trust the experts’ simply isn’t a good enough mantra for social media to invoke during its censorial binges when we have hard evidence that experts often make horrific mistakes. Thalidomide was available over the counter for years before it was found to cause birth defects. Despite mounting complaints in the public sphere, it was deemed safe across the medical spectrum. In the end, it killed two thousand children and left ten thousand with serious physical abnormalities. Without public pressure, it would have killed more.
Vaccines carry similar risks. While they save millions of lives, they can be wildly unpredictable in their medical infancy. It is imperative that the government maintains public choice and consumer transparency across social media platforms to ensure that alarm bells ring when something goes wrong.
Silicon Valley has inserted itself into the pandemic, no doubt due to political pressure, by announcing plans to ban users from reporting or discussing side effects related to Covid19 vaccines. They claim that these measures are in the interest of public safety, but Big Tech is not a medical institution, nor should it be allowed to silence the necessary feedback to protect its political and corporate friends.
Under their heading ‘Our Expanded Approach’, Twitter detail their intent:
Twitter has an important role to play as a place for good faith public debate and discussion around these critical public health matters. […] Using a combination of technology and human review, we will begin enforcing this updated policy on December 21, and expanding our actions during the following weeks. We will enforce this policy in close consultation with local, national and global public health authorities around the world, and will strive to be iterative and transparent in our approach. We remain focused on helping people find credible health information, verifying public health experts, and updating our policies in an iterative and transparent approach.
If anything goes wrong with a Covid-19 vaccine, don’t expect to hear about it.
Who are these public health experts allowed to dominate the market of information? Absolute authority demands intense scrutiny. Let us run one example.
The World Health Organisation is one of Twitter’s verified sources. They are a medical bureaucracy that has conducted itself appallingly during the Covid-19 health crisis. When Covid-19 emerged, the WHO helped the Chinese Communist Party suppress reports about the severity of the virus circulating inside Wuhan. It released incorrect information about Covid19’s transmission and deliberately ignored Taiwan’s dissenting medical evidence because of regional politics. The WHO then looked the other way when China bullied nations with accusations of racism if they tried to close their borders. When it became clear that a pandemic was underway, the WHO assisted China in concealing the (previously acknowledged) origin of the virus while allowing the Chinese Communist Party to avoid a mandatory independent investigation into ground zero of the pandemic.
This is the same ‘trusted’ WHO that has been caught editing medical advice to keep up with propaganda circulated on social media. Two prominent examples come to mind. The first is their flip-flopping over mandatory mask-wearing after various world leaders put their careers on the line by interfering with constitutional rights. To justify medical mandates, the ‘science’ behind mask-wearing was altered by the WHO after the political decision to enforce them had been made. Warnings printed on the boxes of these masks still contradict the WHO’s advice.
The second and most concerning manipulation of information by the WHO relates to the long-held definition of herd immunity. Our medical understanding of herd immunity has not changed since the arrival of Covid19. What has changed is the effectiveness of the vaccine in relation to the grand promises made about it by politicians who used its existence to initiate financially devastating lockdowns.
Both of these releases are by the same department at the WHO (the emphasis in red is mine for clarity):
9th June, 2020: Herd Immunity is the indirect protection from an infectious disease that happens when a population is immune either through vaccination or immunity developed through previous infection. This means that even people who haven’t been infected or in whom an infection hasn’t triggered an immune response, they are protected because people around them who are immune can act as buffers between them and an infected person. The threshold for establishing herd immunity for Covid19 is not yet clear.’
13th November, 2020: ‘Herd Immunity’, also known as ‘population immunity’, is a concept used for vaccination, in which a population can be protected from a certain virus if a threshold of vaccination is reached. Herd immunity is achieved by protecting people from a virus, not exposing them to it. Read the Director-General’s 12 October media briefing speech for more detail.
The second statement from the WHO erased the natural phenomena of herd immunity – which remains the dominant method by which human populations overcome disease – and replaced it with an absolute mandate to vaccinate. The true definition of herd immunity survives with people who remember studying it prior to the edit and anyone in possession of medical books that cannot be so easily manipulated.
It doesn’t help that these institutions in charge of reality are headed up by some of the world’s shonkiest people.
When asking questions about why the WHO has acted inconsistently and bizarrely concerning China’s role in the pandemic, it is worth noting that China played an instrumental role in putting its Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, into power. His ascent was vocally opposed due to positions held within the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) – an ethnically-based party that has been the dominant force in Ethiopian politics for nearly thirty years. Tedros served as Health Minister despite the regime being recognised as a serial offender against human rights.
In an open letter against Tedros, it was noted that inside an eight-month period, eighty thousand Ethiopians were imprisoned in gulags run by the TPLF where they were tortured for holding a different political opinion. Party officials stole billions from public and state-run projects. Dr. Abiy Ahmed, the current Prime Minister as of 2018, later admitted that the regime Tedros served under was essentially a terrorist state.
Tedros’ own actions were called into question regarding his handling of a Cholera epidemic – which he incorrectly renamed as ‘Acute Watery Diarrhoea’ even after Cholera was confirmed. A letter signed by the Amhara Professionals Union suspected this inaccuracy related to Tedros covering up a public health crisis to protect the tourist industry – an action which prevented aid organisations from intervening. The open letter further accused Tedros of actively marginalising health care treatment based on ethnicity, resulting in a disproportionate mortality rate among the Amhara people.
This is the man Silicon Valley allows to fact-check your opinion. In addition, Big Tech is heavily invested in the pharmaceutical industry and does not disclose its financial interest in the silencing of information regarding side effects that could harm its profits.
The control that these corporations exert over our access to information has gone far enough that it may never be unpicked.
We are now at the point where the facts of history are so distorted that activists can claim, without contest, that the months of Antifa and Black Lives Matter riots were entirely peaceful, then use this false claim to validate their censorious reaction to the ‘unprecedented’ Capitol Hill riots.
Fearing that their despicable actions would be covered up, I kept a sample of the direct incitement to violence propagated on Twitter by activist groups it publicly endorsed. You can view the archive here – including images of burning public buildings and captions that read: ‘this is what justice looks like’, ‘all pigs burn’ and ‘riot 2020 – burn this motherfucker down – eat the rich’.
The manipulation of truth within our civilisation is nearly impossible to believe. We already know that you can convince people of fabricated facts if you bombard them with enough marketing material from certified sources – especially if it supports their preferred world view.
The twenty-four hour news cycle that created a heightened sense of drama to pull ratings, has transformed into a full-time propaganda house. The media are over-feeding the goldfish as they swim around in stagnant water.
Why would anyone, including Silicon Valley, seek to corrupt the story of humanity?
Simply put, it is to install a political party into government who will not punish them for breaking antitrust legislation or the Communications Decency Act – both of which carry serious penalties if convicted. Big Tech corporations are free to continue making money in their lofty oligarchy while a political party has solidified its position in the absence of opposition.
In truth, politics has become the law, with information as its accomplice.

Capsule Reviews, February 2021
Here's some things I've been reading.
The Curse of Brimstone
DC's New Age of Heroes books, emerging from the beginning of Scott Snyder's creative-flameout-as-crossover-event Metal, mostly constituted riffs on Marvel heroes like the Fantastic Four (in The Terrifics) or the Hulk (in Damage). The Curse of Brimstone is a riff on Ghost Rider. It's... uneven. The first volume is generally pretty good, and when Phillip Tan is drawing it, as he does the first three and a half issues, it's gorgeous and unique, when he departs though, the quality takes a nose dive. None of the replacement artists, including the great Denis Cowan, can quite fill his shoes, and the story gets old fast. Guy makes a deal with the devil (or rather, a devil-like inhabitant of the "Dark Multiverse" as a not horribly handled tie-in to the conceits of Metal), realizes it's a raw deal, and rebels. The characters are flat, lots of time is spent with the main character's sister haranguing him to not use his powers (it is, in my humble opinion, something of a cardinal sin to have a character whose primary role is telling other characters to stop doing interesting things), too many potboiler "I know you're still in there!/I can feel this power consuming me!" exchanges, a couple of underwhelming guest spots (including a genuinely pointless appearance by the old, white, boring Doctor Fate) too many flashbacks, and not enough of the action. There's potential in the classic demonic hero rebelling plotline and its link to the liminal spaces of the DC universe, forgotten towns and economic depression, but the wheels come off this series pretty much as soon as Tan leaves. The really disappointing this is that the series is clearly built as an artistic showcase, so after Tan's shockingly early departure, the main appeal of the series is gone and there's nothing left but the playing out of an obviously threadbare story.
Star Wars - Boba Fett: Death, Lies, and Treachery
I don't care much about Star Wars these days, and I think that most of the old Expanded Universe was, as evidenced by Crimson Empire, pretty bad. Death, Lies, and Treachery, is that rare Star Wars EU comic which is actually good. John Wagner writes and he's in full-on 2000 AD mode, writing Boba Fett as a slightly more unpleasant Johnny Alpha (who is like a mercenary Judge Dredd, for those unfamiliar) right on down to the appearance of a funny alien sidekick for one of the characters. The main attraction is Cam Kennedy's art though, along with his inimitable colors: this might be the best looking Star Wars comic ever. The designs are all weird and chunky, with an almost kitbashed feeling that captures the lived in aesthetic of classic Star Wars, and the colors are one of a kind. Natural, neutral white light does not exist in this comic, everything is always bathed at all times in lurid greens or yellows, occasionally reds, and it looks incredible. In terms of "Expanded Universe" material for Star Wars, this hits the sweet spot of looking and feeling of a piece, but exploring the edges of the concept with a unique voice. It's great. I read this digitally, but I'd consider it a must-buy in print if I ever get the chance at a deal.
Zaroff
Zaroff is a French comic (novel? novella?). It's like 90 pages and it delivers exactly on its premise of "Die Hard starring the bad guy from The Most Dangerous Game." It's pretty good. Count Zaroff, he of the habitual hunting of humans, turns out to have killed a mafia don at some point, and after miraculously escaping his own seeming death at the end of the original story, finds himself hunted by the irate associates of this gangster, who have brought along Zaroff's sister and her kids to spice things up. Zaroff not only finds himself the hunt, but he also has to protect his estranged family as they struggle to survive. Nothing about this book or its twists and turns is likely to surprise you, but I don't think being surprised is always necessary for quality. Zaroff delivers on pulpy, early-20th century jungle action, is gorgeously rendered, and the fact that Zaroff himself is an unrepentant villain adds just enough of an unexpected element to the proceedings and character dynamics that it doesn't feel rote. There's a couple of points, ones typical of Eurocomics, which spark a slight sour note, such as some "period appropriate" racism and flashes of the male gaze, but for the most part these are relatively contained. It's good.
Batman: Gothic
Long before Grant Morrison did their Bat-epic, they wrote Batman: Gothic, an entirely different, but then again maybe not so different, kind of thing. It starts off with what must be called a riff on Fritz Lang's film, M, only where that story ends with a crew of gangsters deciding they cannot pass moral judgment on a deranged child-murderer, in Morrison's story they go ahead and kill him, only for the killer to return years later to rather horribly murder all of them as a warmup for a grandiose scheme involving unleashing a weaponized form of the bubonic plague on Gotham City as an offering to Satan. Along the way it turns out that said villain, one Mr. Whisper, is a former schoolmaster of Bruce Wayne's, who terrified the young Batman in the days before his parent's deaths. It's an earlier Morrison story and it shows. Certain elements presage their later Batman work; Mr. Whisper as a satanic enemy recalls the later Doctor Hurt, and the cathedral Mr. Whisper built to harvest souls recalls what writers like Morrison, Milligan, and Snyder would do concerning Gotham as a whole years later. The art, by Klaus Janson, is spectacular. If you're familiar at all with his work collaborating with Frank Miller you'll see him continuing in a similar vein and it's all quite good, even when he stretches beyond the street milieu which most readers might know him from. There's one particular sequence where Janson renders a needlessly complicated Rube Goldberg machine in motion that manages to work despite being static images. The writing by Morrison though, is not their finest. The M riff doesn't last as long as it could, and Mr. Whisper's turn in the latter half of the story from delicious creepy wraith to a cackling mass murderer who puts Batman in an easily escaped death trap feels like something of a letdown from the promise of the first half of the book. Gothic is good, but not, in my opinion, great. It's certainly worth checking out for Morrison fans however, and I imagine that someone well-versed in his latter Batman stuff might be able to find some real resonance between the two.
Green Arrow: The Longbow Hunters
For a long, long time, Longbow Hunters was THE Green Arrow story. It is to Green Arrow as TDKR is to Batman, deliberately so. Mike Grell wrote and drew the reinvention of the character from his role as the Justice League's resident limousine liberal to a gritty urban vigilante operating in Seattle over the course of these three issues, which he'd follow up with a subsequent ongoing. Going back to it, it certainly merits its reputation, but its far from timeless. Grell's art is unimpeachable absolutely incredible, with great splashes and spreads, subtle colors, and really great figure work. The narrative is almost so 80's it hurts though, revolving around West Coast serial killers, cocaine, the CIA and the Iran-Contra scandal, and the Yakuza, and it's hard to look back at some of this stuff without smirking. The story begins with a teenager strung out on tainted coke sprinting through a window in a scene that's right out of Reefer Madness. In the cold light of a day 30+ years later, parts of it look more than a little silly. The 80's-ness of it all doesn't stop with that stuff though, even the superhero elements smack of it. Green Arrow realizes that he's lost a step and has be to be shown a way forward by an Asian woman skilled in the martial arts (recalling Vic Sage's reinvention in the pages of The Question), and Black Canary gets captured and torture off-panel for the sake of showing that this is real crime now, not the superhero silliness they've dealt with before. The treatment of Black Canary here is pretty markedly heinous, it's a classic fridging and Grell's claims that he didn't intentionally imply sexual assault in his depiction of her torture is probably true, but still feels more than a little weak considering how he chose to render it.The final analysis is that this book is good, but it exists strictly in the frame of the 1980's. If you're a fan of Green Arrow, there are worse books to pick up, or if you're interested in that era of DC Comics it's more than worth it, but as a matter of general interest I wouldn't recommend it very highly.
SHIELD by Steranko
Jim Steranko is sort of the prodigy of the early Marvel years, a young guy who came up through the system, blossomed into an incredible talent, and then left the company, and by and large the industry, behind. He would go on to dabble in publishing, work in other mediums, and generally kick around as the prodigal son of Marvel Comics. This collection, of both his Nick Fury shorts in the pages of Strange Tales and the four issues he drew of the original Nick Fury solo series, charts Steranko's growth as an artist. The book starts off with Steranko working from Jack Kirby's layouts with Stan Lee's dialogue and writing, and Steranko might be the one guy in history for whom working off of Kirby's blueprints is clearly holding him back. The first third or so of this collection really isn't much to write home about, as Steranko is obviously constrained by someone else's style, and at the end of the day those early stories still read as somewhat uninspired pulp compared to the highlights of early Marvel. There are flashes though, of techniques and ideas, which foreshadow what Steranko is capable of, and when he finally takes over as solo writer/artist it's like he's been unleashed. He immediately has Nick Fury tear off his shirt and start throwing guys around over psychedelic effects. He writes out most of Kirby and Lee's frankly uninspired boys' club supporting cast, he makes Fury visibly older, wearier, but also so much cooler. It's the birth of Nick Fury as a distinctly comic book super spy.By the time he finishes wrapping up the previous writers' plotline with Hydra and Baron von Strucker, Steranko is firing on all cylinders. By the time it gets to Steranko's Fury solo series, he's somehow surpassed himself, turning in effects, panel structures, and weird stories which make the earlier installment about a suit-wearing Man from UNCLE knockoff and its strict six-panel layouts look absolutely fossilized.I can't recommend this collection highly enough for any fan of the artform, even if the stories themselves might not be everyone's cup of tear. It's truly incredible to watch Steranko emerge as an artist over the course of this single collection. The book itself has a few problems, it's not the most elegantly designed in its supporting materials and index, but the content of it more than outweighs that. It's great stuff.

The Good and the Bad: Arrow 8x09 Review (Green Arrow & the Canaries)
Arrow did another backdoor pilot for the spin-off even though 7x16 felt like one,
Tumblr media
but it’s clear from this episode things have been… retooled.
Tumblr media
Not always for the better. I liked Green Arrow and The Canaries more than I disliked it, but I’m an easy sell. If Olicity’s progeny are available via my television then I’m watching. Period. End of discussion.
Tumblr media
There’s good content for the writers to mine, but there’s definitely some kinks to work out.
Tumblr media
Doing things a little different with this review. Yes, I can change.
Tumblr media
It didn’t feel like a fully fleshed out episode and I have a feeling we’ll be repeating this pilot in some form if Green Arrow and The Canaries is greenlit, so for now we’ll just hit the highlights – the good and the bad.
Tumblr media
Let’s dig in…
What I Loved
This is the first episode immediately after Crisis, so we don’t entirely know how the present day is impacted, but the future certainly is bright. Mia and William have grown up in an almost paradise. Star City is the safest city in the country. There’s been no crime for almost twenty years and it’s all thanks to the city’s hero – Oliver Queen.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

It’s nice to see Oliver being honored years later by the ungrateful twats of Star City. They are slightly less ungrateful in my eyes. However, it’s even more wonderful to see that Oliver’s children grew up safe, protected, and maybe even a little pampered. It’s everything he wanted for them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The big stick with this carrot of course is Oliver not being able to raise William and Mia.
Tumblr media
Mia Smoak is the princess we were promised and she is ready to ascend the throne. I loved everything about her character.
Tumblr media
Source: kathmcnamara
The alternate timeline/universe (?) has softened Mia. There’s no anger. No dark and twisty past. No hatred of vigilantes. No resentment over lies and betrayals.
Tumblr media
Mia knows her father was a hero, but she hasn’t grown up hiding out in a cabin with Felicity. Instead she grew up with William in the Queen Mansion (where she currently resides). On the surface, Mia’s life has been pretty friggin perfect, even if she’s a little adrift. That said, the Grand Canyon sized hole in her life is that her dad is gone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media

Mia blissfully wakes
Tumblr media
Source: kathmcnamara
and is proposed to by… JJ DIGGLE!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source: kathmcnamara
We have a scantily clad naked Diggle boy and he’s already dropping down on one knee. This show is my crack.
Tumblr media
This also means JJ Diggle isn’t evil! Plot twist!! Dun dun DUNNN!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source: kathmcnamara
Mia says yes after a brief hesitation and the DIGGLE BROTHER LOVE TRIANGLE HAS COMMENCED. I know I’m the only person who wants this love triangle, but I don’t care.
Tumblr media
JJ is the “good” brother and Connor isn’t “evil” but he seems like a colossal screw up with questionable facial hair.
Tumblr media
But also maybe I like the facial hair?
Tumblr media
It’s clear he has an adversarial relationship with Mia, but so many romances have been born from loathing. Enemies to lovers is a classic trope. I’m all in.
Tumblr media
Of course, we’re supposed to expect Connor in Mia’s bed since the Season 7 flash forwards more than hinted at a brewing romance between the two,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but instead it is JJ. A plot twist the Olicity fandom called ages ago.
Tumblr media
John Jr. is new and improved though. There isn’t much to dislike about this version of him. He’s kind, sweet, sexy, attentive and pulling out expensive jewelry in the first five minutes. What’s not to love? There’s a smol and tol aesthetic happening too. Everyone knows that’s my shipping jam.
Tumblr media
Things immediately get rocky though (pun intended). First, JJ gives Mia the Queen family engagement ring.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source: arrowdaily
Mia makes a point of saying it was her mother’s which gives me the feels.
Tumblr media
I never had the same issues with Moira’s engagement ring others did, but even I can recognize there’s some bad juju in it
Tumblr media
Next, Mia gets her memories back (more on THAT later) and officially remembers her fiancé was a psychopathic killer who ran one of her friends through with the pointy end of a sword. It’s a little difficult to kiss JJ after that visual.
Tumblr media
Things don’t get much easier after Mia accuses JJ of being the mastermind behind Bianca Bertinelli’s kidnapping. (Yes, she’s Helena’s daughter). He’s not the kidnapper. All his secrecy revolves around the honeymoon JJ is planning. It does lead to a truly hilarious moment between the two characters.
JJ: Jumping to conclusions is I’m cheating on you not that I’m a kidnapper. For the record, I’m neither.
It’s a heavy moment, but I died. It’s going to be a little hard to pick out cake now.
Tumblr media
The scene itself is heartbreaking. Charlie and Kat acted their asses off in it too. JJ thinks Mia doesn’t want to marry him. She hesitated before accepting his proposal (Yes, he noticed that Mia. So did I). JJ believes Mia is commitment phobic. It’s not wildly unlike how Oliver’s story began. Thank God there’s no cheating with siblings though.
Tumblr media
Mia is merely struggling with the idea that her fiancé was a cold blooded killer in another world. She just needs some time to… adjust. She’s also a little commitment phobic. After stopping the real bad guys, Mia reassures JJ, but she doesn’t tell him the truth about who she is.
Mia: I couldn't imagine spending my life with anyone else."
I see your not-so-subtle wink at SmoakNHawke writers. I AM SO HERE FOR THIS.
Tumblr media
The truly awesome moment with JJ’s character is when he gets his memories back too. I was not expecting this and was genuinely surprised. Charlie Barnett is a PHENOMENAL actor. He played that scene perfectly.
Tumblr media
Giving JJ his memories back is a stroke of genius because now he's a more complicated villain (I hope). He gets to struggle with his love for Mia and his loony tune desire to take over the city.
Tumblr media
Katherine McNamara also does a fantastic job of blending the two versions of Mia after she gets her memories back.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source: supercanaries
She’s reeling from the suffering and loss, but Mia is still our bad ass princess who takes no crap.
Tumblr media
Source: oh-my-hades
She is still every bit the hero Oliver and Felicity raised her to be.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source: feilcityqueen
She’s just a little more pragmatic. Her communication skills are much improved. One of the best moments of the episode is when she gets to show up L*urel with her “new” experience.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

Mia telling L*urel where to stick it was a long time coming. We had to wait twenty five minutes for it to happen, but it was GLORIOUS when it did.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

William is a perfect cupcake, excited to be Mia’s man of honor, but bummed his boyfriend cheated on him. We hate Kevin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source: arrowdaily
He encourages Mia to join Smoak Tech, but she’s not sold on joining Mama’s company. William running Felicity’s company fills me with a deep and abiding joy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
William Clayton-Harris-Smoak-Queen is perfection from start to finish.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

The chemistry between Ben and Kat is so natural. William’s good natured teasing about their “family heirloom” exuded warmth and love.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source: feilcityqueen
I adore how comfortable the two characters are now. Erasing William and Mia’s separation is the best thing to come out of Oliver’s Crisis retcon.
Tumblr media
ZOE IS ALIVE because I said she would be and I like to get my way.
Tumblr media
Source: oliverxfelicity
Din*h owns a bar (Thea’s old club) and lives in the apartment upstairs (Thea and Olicity’s old loft).
Tumblr media
Source: canarynetwork
She woke up in the future after Oliver’s funeral and discovered she doesn’t exist in 2040. I’m only mildly curious about this. The bigger shock is Din*h is tolerable. She’s compassionate towards Mia and often serves as the peace maker between her and L*urel. She feels like an older and wiser Din*h Dr*ke. More like Season 5 Din*h, but not so angry.
Tumblr media
Also, hello that voice? She can be like Lorne on Angel and randomly break out into show tunes.  Juliana did a beautiful job.
E2 Oliver cheated on L*urel with Sara too. There is no universe where L*urel & Oliver end up together. Nobody hates L*uriver more than these writers.
Tumblr media
What I Hated
L*urel. I hated everything about L*urel.
Tumblr media
At first, I thought I was being too sensitive, but after a certain point it was clear she is just an asshole. L*urel being unbearable in Arrow pilots is a tradition apparently.
Tumblr media
It starts with how Mia gets her memories back. There were some spoilers out on this, but I wasn’t entirely sure how it would play out onscreen and yeah… total dick move.
Tumblr media
Source: supercanaries
L*urel destroys Mia’s life by forcing unbelievably painful memories on her without discussing it with her first. And for what? So, Mia can help L*urel find her kidnapped friend.
Tumblr media
Even the newspaper article L*urel drops about the Green Arrow failing the city doesn’t excuse the way she gave Mia her memories back. I understand she is trying to convince Mia to be a superhero, but I feel a more effective approach would have been to sit down, grab a cup of coffee, offer the pros and cons of getting her memories back and then let MIA DECIDE.
Tumblr media
Source: supercanaries
L*urel didn’t need to grab her from behind at her graduation/engagement party.  It had the uncomfortable vibe of mind rape and no amount of “girl power” makes that okay.
Tumblr media
Oh hey - if  J'onn J'onzz from Superg*rl is going around and zapping people’s minds without clearing it with them first -
Tumblr media
What was with L*urel insulting Mia every two seconds? UGH. Where is that damn bird baton?
Tumblr media
There’s a fine line between snark and nasty. L*urel was just nasty.
Tumblr media
L*urel decides Mia is a lazy, self absorbed, idiot because she’s not immediately jumping at the chance to be the Green Arrow. She literally blew this kid’s life apart, gives her no time to process, and immediately begins insulting her because she’s not following all of L*urel’s commands.
Tumblr media
On what planet does L*urel have any authority over Mia's life?
Tumblr media
They have a warm and fuzzy heart to heart about choosing to be a hero to smooth over L*urel’s wildly unpleasant personality, but it’s ludicrous. L*urel didn’t even rate a goodbye from Oliver. I find her suddenly being an expert on what Oliver would want for his daughter pretty tough to swallow.
Tumblr media
This conversation should’ve been with William. PERIOD.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source: oliverxfelicity
It’s insane L*urel is judging anyone about anything because SHE IS A MURDERER. But sure, being a socialite is the real crime. Thank goodness L*urel is here to stop all the shopping.
Tumblr media
The show was desperate glaze over Bl*ck Sir*n’s history with bizarre explanations.
L*urel: I wasted a lot of time pretending to be something I wasn’t because it was easier.”
So, Bl*ck Sir*n was pretending to be a murderer because it was easier?
Tumblr media
That’s not a thing. You don’t pretend to a murderer. You just are one.
Tumblr media
Bl*ck Sir*n wasn’t like Oliver Queen. She killed good and innocent people. We’re just supposed to accept she was always a good person simply because she says so? Sorry sweetheart, the evidence does not exist. I would send your ass to prison for a good 25 to life, but the network didn’t ask for my opinion about your participation in the new show. THEY SHOULD HAVE.
Tumblr media
Then there’s the way they casually avoid things Bl*ck Sir*n has done.
Din*h: I can let go of the people I lost and mistakes that I made.
Din*h lost her boyfriend because L*urel murdered him. They ate French fries and drank milkshakes in a ten second scene and now we’re supposed to believe they’re best friends. Umm… no. If you want to make this friendship believable don’t pretend their history doesn’t exist. Most of your viewing audience is coming from Arrow. We remember that L*urel killed Dinah’s boyfriend.
Tumblr media
L*urel: D you’re up. You ready?
Din*h: Never not.
Ugh. Cringe. Arrow was effortlessly bad ass because Stephen Amell made Oliver Queen look effortlessly bad ass.
Tumblr media
The action was show, not tell, and that includes the dialogue. There is no making L*urel and Din*h cool, so just-
Tumblr media
And POSE. It’s like mannequins in a Macy’s window. YIKES.
Tumblr media
Source: canarynetwork
They force this “Ra Ra Girl Power” nonsense with clunky lines and empty camaraderie while at the same time; L*urel eviscerates Mia’s life choices by insulting her all hour. If you want to bolster “female relationships” on this network then start with the women treating each other with respect.
Tumblr media
There was a criminal lack of William, Zoe and Connor. TERRIBLE DECISION.
Tumblr media
Hopefully, this changes dramatically if the show goes to series. This is what I meant by “retooled.” It is clear two different concepts are being slapped together. The one we saw in 7x16 and whatever KC pitched to the network. The biggest flaw in this backdoor pilot is how disjointed it feels.
Tumblr media
It’s like there are two shows. Mia has her life with William, Zoe, JJ and Connor and the other show is Din*h and L*urel. It’s similar to Oliver and L*urel/Tommy/Thea versus Diggle/Felicity in the beginning of Arrow, but it feels really unnecessary to make that mistake again. I do not feel Green Arrow and The Canaries is Marc Guggenheim and Beth Schwartz’s vision for what they wanted the spin-off to be and it is GLARINGLY obvious.
Tumblr media
No mention of Felicity or Diggle. Yes, I understand why. We have to watch the Arrow series finale to find out what happens to our beloved characters. Mia and William never mentioning Felicity and JJ and Connor never mentioning Diggle & Lyla is WEIRD. Particularly since it was Mia’s graduation and her engagement party with JJ.
Stray Thoughts
Tumblr media
I vote for this to be Mia’s next tattoo. Source:  amunetblack
Tumblr media
Well… that’s new information Din*h. Source:  shawgroves
Why is L*urel calling Din*h “D?” When did that start?
Rene is running for a third term. Do we need to be concerned about a utilitarianism regime happening?
I will never believe Din*h can do “Felicity stuff.” Where the hell is William?
“Oh frack you.” FINALLY.
The adversarial relationship between Mia and L*urel is a wise choice given how KC and Katherine McNamara interact online with each other. Or don’t as the case may be.
Tumblr media
What is happening with L*urel's boots? Are there bombs attached to them or something?
The lipsticks on L*urel and Din*h are not good. There's a lot of eye makeup happening too. Let's tone it down makeup department.
Tumblr media
This is my face whenever I see L*urel too.  Source: supercanaries
You killed her fiancée L*urel. Pay your fucking tab.
Female Big Bad. Could be awesome. Just have to wait and see.
I'm really glad William and Mia are rich again. I missed billionaire money. It's fun.

DCeased: Dead Earth # 2-3
Writer: Tom Taylor Pencils: Trevor Hairsine Inks: Gigi Baldassini
‘Your father wasn’t a hugger.
‘Oh, believe me, I remember. But I’m not as emotionally stunted. We’re just lucky Scarecrow never realized Bruce’s greatest fear was intimacy.
‘Batman could have been chased out of Gotham by a supportive pat on the shoulder’
——————————————————————————————————
Gentle Readers, I promise to be better.
Two months of reviews in one is bad. To cram two months of this book together is inhuman.
Tom Taylor is killing me. Not physically, although at times, it does feel that way… he is wringing the heart out of my chest, one super strong twist at a time, the pain just receding as the next twist grinds bone and cartilage into organ and nerve ending.
I feel every gut wrenching reveal like a gut punch, and wince as I see the fates of so many favorite…
Dear lords, I love this series!
We pick up with Arsenal in Chicago, patrolling outside the bunker where those uninfected humans he is protecting are holed up, hoping for salvation. As he talks to Gracie, a little girl who is a resident of the bunker, the Anti - Life infected move in.
Led by Fire.
Arsenal goes up like last 4th’s fireworks, leaving Gracie staring at a leather clad funeral pyre.
And Shadowpact arrives ten seconds too late.
So, Roy Harper, who survived being Oliver Queen’s ward, Green Arrow’s sidekick Speedy, heroin addiction, alcoholism, death seeking depression and suicidal tendencies, losing an arm and being cloned by CADMUS, gets taken out by a zombie attack.
A true Romero ending.
Somewhere, Tom Taylor is gigging, as he gnaws on my heart…
This is the first THREE PAGES!
Things we learn through these issues:
Cradle robbing is no longer frowned upon.
Wearing the Bat makes such things forgivable
Damien Wayne is more well adjusted after being raised by the League of Assassins than Bruce Wayne was, being raised by Alfred and vengeance
Jim Gordon is a snarky old man
Jason Todd is not as big a jerk as he has played
Constantine is
Maxwell Lord is just as big a tool in this universe as he was in others
He dies just as easily, too
Harley Quinn has more of a conscience than we’ve seen
The biggest badass in the world is a plant
The smartest badass is a chimp
Ivo is back
So are Amazo
Etrigan is back
The infected have souls, and can be cured
Trigon is coming
To collect the souls
Game On!
Taylor’s story has been tight, MTA Rush Hour Subway tight. No loose ends, the plot is well thought out, every Chekov’s Gun has been fired, so far. The characterizations are wonderful, extreme in some cases, and in some cases they prove that, at times, Less is definitely More.
Need an example? Three panels, Dinah Lance, Black Canary, the new Green Lantern of Sector 2814, will not leave her one true love Oliver Queen behind. She carries him in a force bubble, to both keep others safe, and protect him.
When told to make a choice, hit the road with a carrier of the Anti-Life virus, or dump him outside the Garden Zone, and remain inside in safety, she doesn’t hesitate. She leaves. This is Strength. This is Love. **tear** (I hate you all, Tom Taylor, Trevor Hairsine and Gina Baldassini!)
Which, in fact, brings us to the art team. Trevor Hairsine and Gina Baldassini have created an incredible world in these books. The artwork is so sharp, so detailed, as to make the reader a part of the story. It has a Barry Windsor Smith feel, so fine lined and expressive, so very detailed, and SO GRAPHIC!!! Thank the gods this is a Teen+ book…
We have setups for the next few issues, the Australian Compound / Ivo and the Penguin, and Scott Free / Constantine / Bobo, off to find Metron, the Anti - Life vs the Gotham Green Zone, Alec Holland and his quest to free his opposite, Jason Woodrue, the Floronic Man. The next big question, who will complete their tasks first?
More importantly, do the Variant covers predict who is going next… How will the Helm of Fate work with an Anti - Life Kent Nelson???

‘TENERIFE RESIDENTS MUST ENJOY LIFE WITHOUT A CURFEW, THEY DESERVE IT’
Today is the day that the Governing Council will decide if Tenerife stays in Level 1 from Monday, and that residents of the island will actually get to enjoy the full benefits after a week of Level 1’ish due to the application of ‘Carnival’ restrictions with 10pm curfew, limited group size, and restrictions on entertainment.
Francisco Bautista, secretary of the UGT, the General Union of Workers, in the Canary Islands, believes that "the effort made by citizens in Tenerife since December should them allow to enter alert Level 1 properly”, that is, without a curfew from Monday.
Bautista said this in an interview this morning, adding: “The epidemiological situation in Tenerife is very positive. Although we have increased infections a little in the last two weeks, the data is still favourable. We continue with excellent figures and the healthcare pressure in hospitals, both in the wards and in ICU, continues to drop on the island”.
"The people of Tenerife have to be allowed enjoy the benefits after showing exemplary behaviour, but that does not mean we are now allowed to party in the streets or do things that should not be done," he emphasized before saying that it is important for us all to "keep the same line" as we have been so far, which has got us to this point.
This afternoon the Governing Council will review all the data for all the islands and make any changes accordingly. It is expected that Lanzarote will stay at Level 4 for one more week, Gran Canaria could move to Level 2, and Fuerteventura to Level 1. The rest should be where they are now. Jokes on You: Birds Of Prey Review
Birds Of Prey and The Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn feels like a new injection of creativity into a universe of films riddled with a major identity crisis.
The DCEU was once a division and block of movies that were being weaved together to acclimate into a bigger sandbox. However, along the way, the rain of studio interference, and certain fan backlash started to wash out the future of any cohesive foundation.
The discussion of the DCEU is one often plagued with their past, and reception of failure. The feedback split the fabric of viewership between the fans, and critics.
Now with its eighth film out in theaters, and the commercial success of such hits as Aquaman and Shazam being the blueprint going forward.
Birds of Prey follows suit with the census going forward the presence of lower budget solely director based films will be the bread and butter to keep pace in the landscape of shared continuities.
The reason behind the new shift of identity is due to the reception. The film is garnering race reviews and critical acclaim from both branches of the audience. It currently sits at 86% certified fresh on rotten tomatoes.
Hearing the news of positive feedback towards a DC film property. Especially one that felt from its marketing being pitched as a female version of suicide squad is an awesome feeling to have. Due to the honesty, I was scared of this film, but I kept my emotions at bay and went in blind.
An opportunity arose and I had the chance to see Birds Of Prey. When I was driving to the theater the feeling of doubt was still present deep in my mind and another sign that caused my nervous tension to awake was no one was in the theater.
Then it happened the film started, and it was a lot of fun. The story is contained very well, and it’s a blend of Tarantino with the amount of blood, and mutilation of body parts. The action was inspirational of John Wick due to the reshoots being done by JW director Chad Stahelski.
I also forgot to mention that Birds Of Prey is full of heart, and bears resemblance to other films such as Deadpool 1, Guardians Of the Galaxy, and Doom Patrol. The film is a triumph of passion and understanding the love for these characters. Honestly, the way all media should be especially cape flicks at this point.
Moving on the narrative is simplstic but also layered with elements of character spotlights. Many will gripe, and say the “the film sucks or ‘Im done with DC”. My response to that would be everyone is entitled to their opinion.
I always post non-spoiler reviews. So the next portion of this article would be the discussion of the cast and going forward.
First off, Margot Robbie does an amazing portrayal on par with Christopher Reeve Superman. Robbie has officially taken on the role of Quinzel almost like it’s an extension of her personality; Not to mention the growth of Harley was layed out very well in this film. Harley went from being The Joker's "punching bag" to the baddest woman in Gotham.
The jester was finally standing on her two feet and the days of exposition and camera eye candy from Suicide Squad are officially through. It's awesome to chart the timeline of development from one film to another for the longevity of a character unfolding on the silver screen. Hence why Harley's arc in BOP is a prime example of character development.
The supporting cast is very well put together. Jurnee- Smollett Bell plays Black Canary in a new perspective and it feels good to witness a new flavor of creativity on a character that was chained to the small screen on Arrow for the last eight years of cable.
Don’t get me wrong Katie Cassidy, and Juliana Harvaky did an amazing job with the representation of the role of the Canary. It just felt like a breath of air from Bell, and there is no clear favorite because all are worthy of the mantle.
Another highlight was Renee Montoya by Rosie Perez. Perez did well with what she had to play with. Her arc wasn’t too big but at the same it was necessary. Montoya’s story is heavily spoiler-filled.
Huntress was absolutely awesome in this film. Mary- Elizabeth Winstead truly didn't have a lot of screen time, but when she did you could feel the empathy deep down. The tragedy of her past was painted all over her character arc.
The emotion of rage burning away the PTSD in her. I would definitely want a huntress spin-off to further peel back the layers of her troubled arc. Moving on, Winstead did a good job of advancing the plot but also being the grounded element of the fantasy that Harley resides in.
Now for the question, everyone will ask “How is Black Mask”. Black Mask is a character that you can only judge if you see for yourself.
Without diving into dark territory just know one thing Ewan Mcgregor has a lot of fun and is a strong demanding presence absolute scene-stealer.
Another character in this film was the set design and the camera. The presence of the camera is an element of filmmaking that goes unnoticed a lot in these cape films.
However, in Birds Of Prey, that's not the case. The colors are gorgeous and the cinematography gives off alure and spectacle to a Gotham that actually has a vibrant personality hindered by the scum of the criminal underworld.
The one difference between the MCU, and it’s opposition the DCEU. One has a villain problem while another doesn’t and Black Mask in this movie makes that distinction quite clear.
In conclusion Birds Of Prey is a blueprint of finding self-confidence and emancipation fits the narrative well. I'd recommend it DC is definitely branching out with aesthetic absolutely smart choice because they were so fixated on beating marvel and the mouse.
Struggling to find the answer it was right in front of them. The key is by doing these low budget director vision films they can stand on there own.
Remember, Birds Of Prey is a film that will divide many, and push away some. It’s also one that fights the reception with bits of fan-service, funny moments, and an interesting soundtrack. One thing to know is if you want to see something new and not formulaic then give this a check out because if you fall into the latter then the Joke is on you.
If I gave Birds Of Prey a grade a B 8/10 definitely need to see it again

Florida: 217-acre, sharia-compliant Muslim resort planned near Disney, next to Margaritaville
The sharia-compliant resort where terror-linked Muslim organizations can plan their ongoing Islamziation of America will be near another foreign-funded Islamic compound. Read: Mega-mosque being built in “strategic location” between major Orlando tourist sites
Tumblr media
A Canadian real estate developer that is building the first Muslim, family-friendly resort in the Dominican Republic has a purchase contract for one of the largest undeveloped tracts on Osceola County's W192 corridor and plans a similar 5-star resort.
The Everest Group of Companies is eyeing the 217-acre parcel at the southwest corner of U.S. 192 and the Western Beltway (S.R. 429), just across the toll road from Margaritaville Resort. This is the same property that was under contract twice in recent years, first for a controversial auto racing attraction, then for a sports complex which failed to close the deal despite a $20 million commitment from the county. It's priced at $13.75 million.
Everest is working with David Portwood, president of Davenport Consulting Group, and Kimley-Horn's Jordan Draper on its conceptual planning and due diligence. They met with Osceola County's Development Review Committee Wednesday for a pre-application meeting to discuss the latest master plan for the resort with a working title of "Golden Lagoon."
Portwood told GrowthSpotter he estimates the project budget at roughly $500 million. The first phase would begin on the northern end of the property and would include a mix of multi-story retail buildings, restaurants, multifamily and the first of several luxury hotels. Portwood said the full-service hotels would be 5-star quality with ample meeting and convention space.
Everest CEO Zafir Rashid formed an Orlando-based affiliate company, GMR Development Orlando Inc., for the project, which will be its first in the United States. In Canada, the company specializes in multi-family real estate, student residences, commercial/retail mixed-use communities, and hospitality properties.
The master plan and mood board indicate the project would replicate some of the features of Everest Group's Grand Medina Resort just north of Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. An earlier site plan provided to Osceola County continued the Grand Medina branding. Portwood said the developer has not announced whether newly renamed Golden Lagoon would be designed specifically for Muslim tourists.
(video and more below the fold)
Portwood did say a Grand Medina-style resort here in Orlando would open the door to a global tourist demographic that isn't well served by the local market.
"It's an exciting project," Portwood told the DRC members. "We find that this is a niche, in a sense, and we're blessed to bring it to the county. It's a wonderful opportunity."
https://www.growthspotter.com/news/osceola-county-developments/gs-deal-for-20m-sports-complex-on-w192-falls-through-land-back-on-market-20190211-story.html »
Davenport Consulting is the architect of record and is working in collaboration with Spanish firm, Arquiestudio, which is also designing the Caribbean resort and has completed luxury resorts in Egypt and the Canary Islands.
The resort itself would be gated with a 4-lane spine road on the eastern boundary linking U.S. 192 to Funie Steed Road. The entire resort would be hugged by a massive man-made lagoon. It calls for multiple hotel and timeshare towers, a full service spa and private water park - complete with its own wave pool, water slides and lazy river. There's also a Women's Club, with a separate pool and waterfront cabanas, just like the Grand Medina Resort.
Portwood said the resort would provide water-taxi service on the lagoon for guests. Some areas of the development are designed as a series of connected islands.
"The lagoon serves two functions," Portwood said. "It's stormwater retention and also compensating storage (for the floodplain)."
Coldwell Banker Commercial Broker Paul Hoffman has the exclusive listing for the property.
The $750 million Margaritaville Resort opened in late 2018 and has already filed preliminary plans for its fifth phase of vacation homes.
Meanwhile, Maitland-based Equinox Development Properties has assembled 48-acres on the north side of U.S. 192, across from Margaritaville and west of Disney's Animal Kingdom, and plans a massive mixed-use resort development there.

Grand Medina Resort & Spa Orlando is the 1st Muslim-friendly, family-oriented, master-planned community in the Americas. Located just minutes from Walt Disney World, Grand Medina Orlando is a multi-phase hotel and theme park development project located in Florida, USA. Resort Highlights: Alcohol-free Environment Halal Restaurants Private Women’s Club Artificial Beaches Retail Shopping Children’s Amenities Spa Services Conferences & Special Events
From their FAQ - it’s clear this is a Muslims-only facility that will allow non-Muslims who submit to sharia law while on premise:
Q. Halal food? Everything will be halal. All meat will be hand-slaughtered and certified...
Q. Alcohol? There will be no alcohol served, sold, or allowed on-site, ever.
Q. Prayer facilities? A welcoming 9,000 sq. ft prayer center with an on-site, local Imam.
---------------------------------------------
Jacob Engels at the Central Florida Post notes the developer’s ties to known-wolf Muslim groups that are linked to terrorists, via Muslim “Friendly” Resort With Terror-Ties Planned Near Disney World
Rashid’s companies have sponsored the Reviving the Islamic Spirit annual gathering, where WTC bombing co-conspirator Siraj Wahhaj and noted anti-Semite Linda Sarsour have spoken. Wahhaj’s son was recently busted running a terrorist training compound in New Mexico...
The Grand Medina Resort, Rashid’s Dominican Republic based and soon-to-open carbon copy of the proposed Orlando project, recently sponsored the Islamic Society of North America’s annual convention in Houston. ISNA has admitted ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas, both extremist terrorist organizations operating in America and abroad.
...
At face value, you might think that there is nothing wrong with having a “Muslim friendly” resort, but how can we be sure that “Muslim friendly” does not mean “Muslim only” or terrorist friendly?
Presumably those were rhetorical questions. If Rashid is openly hosting ISNA - they will host ICNA, MAS, MSA, CAIR and other Islamic groups. All have terror links, some are on terror lists, and all are terror friendly.
There is no chance that the dhimmis in Orlando will risk be labeled Islamophobic and shut this project down, even if the city/state lose money.

Time and Place: Within the last 10,000 years; in the Holocene epoch of the Quaternary period
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Culicicapa is known from the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, Indonesia, and the Philippines; it is also known from southwestern portions of China
Tumblr media
Physical Description: Culicicapa, or the Canary-Flycatchers, is a genus of two types of small, yellow songbirds. These are round birds, with short tails and bright coloration. Ranging between 11 and 13 centimeters in length, they are about the length of a common cell phone, though being birds they are significantly lighter in weight. The birds have small, round heads and short, narrow beaks with fine tips. Both species feature yellow chest and belly feathers, green back feathers, and a mixture of black, green, and yellow feathers on the wings and tail. All sexes are alike in appearance in both species.
Diet: The Canary-Flycatchers primarily eat - you guessed it - flies, and additionally gnats, mosquitos, beetles, wasps, moths, and other small invertebrates. They will use their small beaks to catch insects on the wing. They also will dig in plant material for insects there.
Behavior: These birds are very noisy, making loud, squeaky, and varying calls - these calls can sound like a variety of syllables including tsu-si-tchu-si-si, sweet su sweet, tus-tsu-tswee, pit pit pit, chit-tit-tit-tit-tirr, tit-titu-wheee, and trills. These birds vary by species in terms of group living, as well; the differences between the species are listed below. They breed anytime between March and July; the Grey-Headed Canary-Flycatcher pairs for life, and showcase elaborate courtship rituals. The male will perform short circles of flight in front of the perched female and then will perch next to her, before flying again; he then hovers and displays his butt while the two call to each other. The male then courtship feeds his mate, and after they do the do, the male will build a nest out of moss, lichens, and leaves high up in a tree. They’ll brood in the same nest. The clutches are made of 3 to 4 eggs, and both parents aid in feeding the nestlings. Both species are mainly residential; the Grey-Headed Canary-Flycatcher does show some migration from the HImalayas to the plains of India if a resident of that region; and Chinese populations of the species do migrate back and forth from central to southern China during the year.
Tumblr media
Citrine Canary-Flycatcher by Afriefrahman, CC BY-SA 4.0
Ecosystem: These birds live in lowland and mountain forests, mainly in secondary growth and along forest edges; they are mainly found in broadleaf, dry forests and along ravines and gorges as well as along forest edges. The elevation in question that they live in depends mainly on the habitat they’re found in - for example, they tend to be found at higher elevations in locations with higher elevations, etc.
Other: There are some conflicting sources on the behavior of the Grey-Headed Canary-Flycatcher; I have gone here with the most recent source I could find.
Species Differences:
The two species mainly differ on the appearance of the head, as well as their natural ranges. The Grey-Headed Canary-Flycatcher has a grey head (as the name would suggest), including a grey crest of feathers on the top, and lives mainly on the Asian mainland and in Indonesia; the Citrine Canary-Flycatcher lives in the Philippines and has a yellow-green head, with no crest.
They also show extensively different behavior - the Grey-Headed Canary-Flycatchers is more more social, feeding in pairs, groups, and mixed-species foraging flocks. They are also tamer and much more likely to approach people; while the Citrine Canary-Flycatcher is more shy and solitary, though they do form pairs to feed in the breeding season and can join mixed-species foraging flocks.
