The idea that the Wollaton Park gnome-encounter didn't happen because the gnomes were driving little cars is ridiculous.

Gnomes would have no issue producing small-scale electric cars for themselves, it would be a very simple matter for them to source the metals and other materials they need for the battery to power a small vehicle.

Gnomes are obviously pastoral, rural creatures, but that doesn't mean they shun technology. Rather they choose what technology they do or don't use based off of practicality and necessity rather than convenience as humans do.

If a gnome lived in an area condusive to driving a car (like a park) then it would drive a car. If it lived in the woods or an area with rougher, steeper terrain then a small car is obviously a less practical option than an animal-drawn carriage or simply walking.

There are many who dismiss paranormal encounters due to lack of proof. This is fair, the study of gnomes is difficult to apply to apply the scientific method to and skepticism is a logical response to this. But all of what we've seen of gnome behaviour would suggest that they would be fine with automobile travel. Come on, people.
