The common misconception that Akane has no personality outside of Aoi is a sign of immaturity among many fans, in my opinion. This isn’t really their fault, seeing as the majority of the tbhk fandom is on the younger side, but it’s still something that should be noted

When people say this, they are talking about his hobbies. It’s true that every hobby Akane has is something he started to impress Aoi. I’m of the firm belief that he stayed on the Student Council because he enjoys it but that’s slightly up to interpretation (it could also be a way for Teru to keep an eye on him). However, in general, Akane doesn’t seem to have much going on outside of Aoi. His favorite food is something he imagines her baking for him, he joins clubs based on what type of guys she shows interest in, the books he reads all have a character that shares her name, and when she asks him what he enjoys, his response is “I like you, Aoi.” He’s even shown to zone out of conversations when Aoi isn’t mentioned. This is clearly unhealthy, though he does eventually learn to give her some distance which is beneficial to the both of them. But he still doesn’t seem to actively engage in hobbies that have nothing to do with Aoi

This is a consistent character flaw, but it does not mean Akane has no personality or character outside of Aoi. This is where the immaturity bit comes in, kids want to describe themselves entirely based on their interests. With the rise of fan culture and the internet, many adults do the same. It’s not just a young people problem, it’s an issue of how we identify ourselves. We like to put people into categories, understanding them based on their hobbies and careers. These are very important elements of identity, but they aren’t everything. A person with no job and no hobbies is still a person. They might struggle due to having no outlet for their creativity, but they are a person nonetheless

Fandoms notoriously love to understand characters based on their niche interests. Aoi is a gardener, Hanako loves the moon, Nene plays idol games, Teru has a very sad life. These are absolutely elements of their characters, but there’s more to them than their hobbies. They have personalities too, goals and passions outside of what they do in their free time

Akane puts his all into helping others, he takes his Student Council duties very seriously and keeps his hands full during every school event. He is a very empathetic character, able to understand characters like Aoi, Teru, and Nene without them having to tell him what they need. He’s competitive, as seen in his friendship with Teru. He’s romantic, as is the driving force of his character (and romance is a perfectly acceptable goal, marriage is one of the most common things for a person to strive towards in life). He’s violent and overprotective, striking down any man who makes Aoi uncomfortable. He’s emotional, prone to fits of joy, anger, and tears. He’s easily annoyed and carries a chip on his shoulder, but that doesn’t stop him from wanting to help people. He hates supernaturals because of how they hurt others, and despite his stance as a School Mystery, he is so painstakingly human. He can be aggressive, especially when someone he loves is trying to do something self-destructive. He cares so deeply for people, wearing his heart on his sleeve. He’d stay up all night playing video games if it made the girl he loves happy, but he won’t attack Teru for having genuine feelings for her. He’s incredibly loyal. He’s also casually bisexual so there’s that

Idk there’s just so much more to Akane’s character than people give him credit for, I didn’t even cover everything. Remember when you’re analyzing a character, it’s important to look deeper than “they enjoy this” or “this is their job.” Akane may devote so much of his life to Aoi, but he is still his own person, whether he realizes that or not

“im gonna get you!!!!” you shouted. for some reason, you felt the overwhelming urge to annoy someone and kou happened to be the closest one around. however, having been friends with you for a while, he was used to you being like this, yet never really tried to prevent any of your antics so you took it as an invitation.

“NOHOHO TEHEHERU HELP!” kou cried the second you began tickling him. you froze, whipping your head around, meeting teru’s eyes. uh oh….!!!!

“t-teru?!” you cried out, looking like a deer in headlights.

“what are you doing to my brother?” he asked and you gulped. you could tell that question was just for show.

“we were just playing! isn’t that allowed?”

“sure,” teru smiled, but it looked a bit scary. “do you mind if i join?”

oh no, you were really in trouble now. kou had taken the time as a chance to escape and when you looked back, he was gone. how hadn’t you noticed?!

you looked back at teru, a menacing smirk on his face and oh, yes, that was why. still, you wanted attention and you knew teru would give it to you.

“sure!” and knowing what he was going to do, you decided you would get him first. you ran over, pouncing and tried to knead into his sides. apparently, he had anticipated this because he grabbed your wrists, restraining you quite easily.

“no! don’t tickle me!” you cried, shaking and flailing relentlessly, your nerves on fire. you just let yourself get caught by an evil tickle monster, what will you do?!

“can’t i?” he tilted his head, innocently, then using one hand to hold up your arms, he used his other to tickle your sides.

He was a little scared of you at first, but with him putting up a confident appearance, he was able to talk to you like you were any other student, except for how it looked like you didn’t seem to care at all about anything

It’s while you’re both having a conversation with Kou and Yashiro involved that he realizes you never really smile or laugh even though Yashiro accidentally dropped the mop bucket causing her and Kou to fall, which was pretty funny to Hanako

He tries to make you smile as much as he can and if you tell him you are happy then he just figures that’s how you are and will tease you for being so stoic

“Look at [name]! Can’t you tell they’re happy?” Hanako said to Kou and Yashiro who only stared puzzled because you looked far from happy

If you’re even insecure about it then he’ll reassure you it’s nothing bad and if anyone makes fun of you then he’ll just have to prank them a little

Tsukasa Yugi

Isn’t bothered by your lack of facial expressions at all and finds it to be very entertaining instead and constantly teases you about it

Makes it his mission to make you smile and will whine about it you to smile. Though he does know that sometimes that you are happy but it doesn’t show it so it just becomes a little game to him to guess if you’re happy or not

“Isn’t [name] the cutest when they smile?” Tsukasa cheerfully said as he puts the ends of your lips upwards to make you smile while you just let it happen. Natsuhiko and Sakura stared blankly at the sight.

If anyone ever makes fun of you for being so stoic, then Tsukasa will gladly deal with them with a giggle and mischievous smile

He was honestly terrified from you, it felt like you were judging him and thought lowly of him but immediately felt bad when he found out that’s just how you are and apologized profusely even if you didn’t know what he thought of you before

He hopes to one day see a smile from you even if it’s a small one so he’ll often invite you to hang out to hopefully catch a small smile. Has definitely joined in with Tiaras silly games when you were over his house to hopefully see you smile. Also let Teru cook once just to show you how much of a bad cook he is so you can laugh

“Show me how happy you are!” Kou said, urging you to smile with a smile of his own plastered on his face. “What do you mean? I am happy, don’t you see my smile?” You questioned. “Oh… umm-“

I have a few but it’s going to be so long haha(also, sorry for the dual use of Mob and Shigeo if it confuses ya)

1. Terumob loves physical touch, cuddles, pats, hugs, hand holding, etc. Teru is touch starved due the to the absence of his parents. Mob has been very closed off ever since he was young. Yes his family does give him affection, but he never seeks it out unless necessary, so he’s kinda deprived in physical affection too. Not to mention, his brother isn’t touchy either. Not his fault, but anyway, Mob enjoys hugging or being close to Teru in any sort of way possible. Shigeo loves the warmth of holding Teru’s hand. It grounds him

2. Teru falls asleep faster and better when Shigeo is close by him. Mob’s aura and his physical presence makes him feel extremely safe and at ease. It gives him so much comfort too. Teru is always alert 24/7 so when Shigeo is nearby, he feels like he doesn’t have to be extremely aware anymore, and that leads him to fall asleep near Shigeo a lot. Shigeo loves it because he knows it lets him know that Teru feels safe enough. Shigeo also uses his aura a little so that Teru doesn’t get any nightmares

3. Mob knows that Teru is very hard on himself, so he always tries to let him know that he’s enough. Teru has never had genuine verbal validation before, no one who knew the real him. So, this leads him to overwork himself usually. Mob sometimes takes it upon himself to be the intervention Teru needs and remind him that he’s okay and he’s needed.

4. Teru also knows that Mob worries about being good. Too much. Teru reminds Mob that sometimes although that they make mistakes, that doesn’t make them a horrible person. This one goes vice versa actually. They remind each other. And remind each other that they’ve changed inspire of their relapsing or mistakes. Even if there are moments where Teru becomes condescending, even if there are moments where Shigeo stutters and hides from his emotions.

5. Teru helps Mob express himself. We generally see him in his black and white uniform which makes people think he only wears black and white which is inaccurate lol. Shigeo is a very colourful person.

Anyway, despite loving colours and clothes, what he wears is all just hoodies and pants which is really plain. Teru has a more extravagant taste. Shigeo loves listening to Teru ramble on about style and fashion and going out of his comfort zone by wearing contrasting colours like pink and green, bright red and bright blue. Purple and orange. Not just in fashion either, but in what Mob wants to do and say. Like maybe figuring out what instrument he wants to play and express himself? Teru loves rock guitars but knows that Shigeo wouldn’t enjoy playing it, so he introduces Shigeo into other forms of music, like percussion, string instruments. Side note I like the idea that Shigeo likes the piano bc of Reigen. But anyways, I think he loves most of the but the one he likes one percent higher than the rest is the flute

Aoi is a monster that rarely leaves her lair, which is a huge underground labyrinth, she is blind in bright places, so her home is total darkness. Isolated from it all. She knows almost everything, what her bugs see above, she too can see. She is not lonely exactly, but she can get bored quickly, so she occasionally lures people in to play with them.

At first, she hoarded tons of gold and gems to use as lure, but nowadays her mere existence seems to be enough to make people want to find her, intrigued by this supposedly breathtakingly beautiful creature that resides in complete darkness.

She is very strange but kind, in her own way. She has a soft spot for humans, can help them even, but only if she likes the individual, if she doesn't, she’ll turn her visitor into food for her favorite bugs. She's usually very helpful, and mysterious, so many humans created legends about her, worshiping her. She was a creature as feared as she was loved.

Teru is the head of a very important church, an angel chosen to look after this city until it died. Every city gets assigned a guardian angel that chose a human to become its leader, protecting the city while the chosen human improves themselves.

Akane is who Teru chose to train, they have grown closer with time. Too close. There has been an increase in tension over time because Teru fell in love, which is forbidden for an angel, so he has been more distant, trying to keep it professional, and put himself on a figurative leash.

Akane thinks the tension is his fault. He likes teru, have for a while, and it isn’t the devotion he sees in his fellow priest's eyes, it isn't sweet: He knows Teru will go away soon, and he can't let that happen. He wants to keep the angel to himself even after his training is done, clip his wings so Teru can't get back to heaven, which is an act of heresy.

Akane doesn't want to hurt Teru though, so he toys with the idea every time the angel let him touch his wings, itching to break his halo when he hears Teru talk about how much he'll miss this place when he's gone, but he always fight down this destructive urge. He still has time, after all, no need to take Teru's wings away so soon.

Teru has never been the purest of angels, many of his actions falling on the 'bad' spectrum,  but he wasn't tainted because he didn't sin. Greed? He had no goals, he follows his duties. Sloth? Never, he works hard. Gluttony?Wrath? No. Lust? Angels don't feel any sexual attraction to anything, that's never a problem. Envy? Yes, but he have learned to control it, so it wasn't a problem. Pride? It was his big weakness, but he drank a bottle of holy water every night to keep himself 'clean'.

After he fell in love he started to be greedy too, very very greedy. That's two great sins, more than a creature as holy as an angel is capable of bearing. Teru can't wash it away with holy water anymore, if he tries, his throat will burn, it's extremely painful.

When Teru notice one of his wings was turning grey he panicked, knowing he had to do his duty quickly if he don’t want to be caught, but wanting to linger around for as much as possible. His greed (which was a relatively new feeling, so he wasn't used to it) won in the end, and he tried to find a way to be healthy again and continue his mission without a hitch.

He eventually resorted to black magic to heal himself, arrogant enough to think he could do it with enough preparations and protection. It doesn't work, he drastically accelerates his corruption and nearly knocks himself out, both from physical pain and feeling overwhelmed by new, less pure, feelings and thoughts. He is ashamed of himself, even if he trusts Akane to try to help him, demoniac and all, he doesn't want to be seen, not like this, so he runs away and hides.

Akane had noticed the occasional grey feather, he pays more attention to Teru than anyone, but he never expected Teru to disappear overnight. He can’t find him anywhere and he doesn’t know what to do. He assumes he went back to heaven, which leaves a bad taste in his mouth, and he feels a mix of horrified and selfishly relieved to learn he has fallen, he is still on earth. So Akane goes on a mad hunt for him.

Without any concrete leads, Akane follows the rumor of an underground queen that sees all. He prepares himself with holy water and a lantern to guide him in the pitch darkness, not that hopeful (Akane utterly despises demons, he doesn’t trust that this one will be ‘nice’) but desperate enough to accept any help he could.

Aoi thinks he is too aggressive with her cute bugs, impatient, rude, and very arrogant. She would have destroyed him, if she wasn't interested in his story, having rarely seen angels be corrupted or priest venture down her lair.

She can't deny there was something nice about how honest Akane is. It was fun to see him try to be respectful and try not to curse her for being a demon since he need her help, but fail spectacularly. She stays out of his view, giving him purposely vague advice, promising she'll help him if he can keep her entertained for 1 day.

He agrees, only realizing later it's impossible to tell when it's day or night in her underground cave, hating the "you'll just have to trust me~" she gives him.

His lantern goes out after 4 hours and he becomes completely blind, which is when Aoi gets comfortable enough to approach and properly talk to and study him. She does start to like him quickly enough, and decides to help him, but she doesn’t tells him that, taking full advantage of this deal of theirs. She doesn't even try to hide that she's studying him like he's a peculiar toy, giving him riddles and philosophic questions with no clear answers, and freaking him out by inviting him to dance when she knows he can't see shit, much less keep up with her four arms. She finds it endearing how much he panics when she steals his glasses, even though they are useless in here.

Aoi rarely sleep, so she did not let Akane sleep through the night, wanting him to keep her entertained. It's hard but surprisingly... Not dangerous. For a demon, she was entertained by very mundane, if a bit annoying, things. And when a day passed, the bug demon did her part of the deal and let him out, giving him a moth she swore would guide him to Teru and personally guiding him to the edges of her tunnel, but not enough for sunlight to sneak in and make her visible.

Aoi respected their deal, so Akane respects her wish to remain hidden in the shadows, promising to himself to get her a gift if her moth actually leads him to teru

Hanako looked at the clock passionately waiting for you to enter. You are ten minutes late to your meeting and he didn’t know where you were. Kou helped him prepared a lunch for you and he couldn’t wait for you to get here! He was just about to go look for you when you came into the room, tears running down your face.

He felt his dead heart sink when he saw your face.

“S/o… what happened, why are you crying?!” He placed down the box of food and rushed to you, cupping your cheeks.

“I- I just-“ You couldn’t stop crying. Tears were running down your face and you could barely talk. Your chest was heavy and your eyes swollen.

“Hey… It’s okay..” he hugged you tightly and stroked your hair. He wanted to calm you down so you would breathe normally. “I wont leave your side… you can tell me when your ready”

You wiped your tears away and took out your phone and went into tik tok. Whenever your eyes filled up with tears to the point you couldn’t see, you quickly wiped them away and continued searching for what you were looking for. Once you finally did, you pulled up a video and showed it to Hanako. It was describing the fire truck game.

Hanako read it in shock, hugging you tighter.

“Don’t tell me that this happened to you…” His voice was filled with sorrow “I’m so sorry I wasn’t there for you..!” He cupped your cheek and kissed your face, wanting you to stop crying.

“I promise, I will always protect you… I’m sorry I couldn’t do anything..” He stroked your hair, letting you cry on his shoulder.

“Don’t worry my love, I’ll make sure they never look at you again.”

The bell rang and Teru stood up from his seat and walked out of class before anyone could talk to him. He had a meeting with you so he couldn’t wait any time. He walked to the rooftop where you two agreed to meet but to his surprise you weren’t there.

He sat for a few minutes enjoying the view until he started to get concerned.

“Where are they…” He muttered but before he could think anymore he heard the doors open. He looked to see your figure and he smiled softly.

“There you are… I was looking for you-“ He stopped talking when he heard sniffling. He narrowed his eyes and saw that you were crying, his heart sinking.

“Y/n..! Are you hurt?!” He asked you in a panic, rushing over to you and searching your body. However, you backed up from his touch.

Your eyes were puffy and red and tears fell down your face.

“Y/n… what happened..” He said softly, trying his hardest not to freak out. You shook but you soon gave into his touch, feeling comfort in his arms.

You tried to speak but you couldn’t form any words, they just turned into sobs. You pulled out your phone and looked up the firetruck game on tik tok and showed it to him.

He carefully took the phone out of your hand and read it, shock going over him.

“Don’t tell me…” He looked to you “Who did it?”

You stayed silent, still shaking.

He knew you probably wouldn’t talk at the moment and he needed to comfort you.

You’ve never seen him super angry, much less murderous. He doesn’t want you to see him that angry normally- but holy moley is he about ready to beat someone.

Yet, he’s still just a ghost- plus if he did something Teru would exorcise him, booooo. So, he settles for continuing to glare, standing between the two of you, hitting their arm if it’s resting on your shoulder. Once again, they’re completely unaware of it, but you aren’t!

“Hanako, you know I won’t leave you for them. They’re a classmate, I barely know them, really.”

“But they want to know you. And I don’t want them to know you… they’re gonna try and take you from me, (Y/N)!”

“I won’t let them take me, you big dummy. So, if you could please let go of me so I can get back to class?”

“No :((“

Not only does he cling to you, of course- though he hugs you bunches and squishes your face just because you’re cute- you can also expect a lot of kisses. Ranging from quick “hey, I’m here, and please don’t choose someone else over me”, “hey, my kisses are better than theirs!! Here’s proof!”, “you’re my girlfriend, not theirs, and if they keep treating you like you aren’t taking I’m going to stabby stabby (but I can’t stab cos Teru’s here, but I would if it wasn’t upsetting)”, etc, etc. It’s… almost strange how easy it is to understand what he means from the way he kisses you- but, I digress!

Overall, he gets jealous fairly easily, and gets very clingy when jealous. He’s not amazing with words, so he wants to show you that he loves you with actions!! However, those actions, more often than not, end up just being… clinging to you, and glaring at people who try to get too close to you.

(RIP Akane, Kou, and Nene for bearing witness to you walking around the school with a visibly angry Hanako. Though the worst the others get is the feeling that someone is staring at them, they get to witness his jealousy from off to the side.)

Kou Minamoto <3

He’s nearly completely opposite from Hanako, actually! He doesn’t get jealous very often, trusting you to actually tell him if something were wrong in the relationship. And, when he does get jealous, he does his best to not show it.

He’s not fond of being jealous. It makes him feel like he’s betraying you…? Like him being jealous is the same as him saying that he doesn’t trust you. But, similarly to Hanako, he trusts you. He just doesn’t trust others quite as much. Not with his very cute and very pretty and very sweet girlfriend :((

While it takes a lot to get him jealous, two things that really can make his temper cut short are (similarly to Hanako) when someone outright flirts or touches you. Especially if they touch you and the two of you aren’t at least friends-

If someone flirts, he’s going to casually slip into the conversation, if he wasn’t there already. A quick “hey, (Y/N)! Wait, sorry, I didn’t realize you were talking-“, then he’ll stand next to you, grabbing your hand lightly. One thing about Kou is, he does his best to be gentle all the time! Even when he’s jealous, he’d never ever hurt you intentionally-!!

If someone’s touching you, he’ll hop into the conversation as he does when someone flirts, adding a “I need your help with something, when you can.” This time, or any time really, if you’re uncomfortable you can use it as an excuse to get away!! Kou’s got your back!!!

If it’s been a day where people just constantly seem to be needing your attention, he’ll start to let his jealousy get to him a bit. It’s not even that some people like your attention- heck, he gets it! He likes having your attention as well. It’s more that… they constantly need your attention. Someone always needing something, even when he just wanted to have a conversation with you :((

In that case, he’ll be slightly clingy, and slightly pouty. Almost like a young child. His lips will be pouted slightly, eyes looking a bit lower to the ground than usual. His hand will be secured in yours, and your shoulder will be lightly pressed against his.

“Kouuu, tell me what’s wrong~,” You spoke, poking his cheek with your index finger. When he was like this, it was easy to tell he was embarrassed about whatever he was pouting over, and not upset over something too serious. It was the perfect time to mess with him.

His face would flush as it usually did- and he’d look away, pouting a bit harder as his eyebrows furrowed slightly. “It’s nothing, (Y/N), really.”

“You’re pouting. Come on, now, you really can tell me. I promise I won’t think of you any less!”

“…it’s just… well- well, seeing all those people around you all day, and I couldn’t really… even get to talk to you. You even had to leave early during lunch-! I’m not angry or anything- it’s dumb, it’s dumb, really-“

“Awwwwh, Kou! Don’t be jealous, sweetheart! It’s not dumb, I actually find it sweet. You know I’d choose you over any of those people. I’d much rather spend time with you than them, but it’s not exactly easy to say no… but, if it makes you feel bad, I’ll make sure they know that, at least, lunch is off-limits.”

“Y-you don’t have to, but… that’s up to you.” (AKA “I want you to, but I don’t want you to feel obligated to do something just for my sake.”)

Overall! Kou’s going to be a sweetheart, even when (not very often) jealous. He doesn’t want you to think he’s silly or not trusting of you when he does get jealous- so he does his best to hide it? Still, he fails, since he can’t help but want to be at least a little closer to you!! Plus the way he pouts- he’s easily read in most situations, and that type is no different.

Mitsuba Sousuke <3

Ahh, where to begin… I suppose the same way I’ve been beginning the other two-

Mitsuba is… a complicated jealous boy? He gets jealous rather easily- and… doesn’t admit it, but makes it painfully obvious. He thinks he isn’t being obvious, but it’s practically plain as daylight.

As he does all things, he masks his jealousy in insults at first! Making his way into whatever conversation or interaction your having, offering an ‘uninterested’ “what’re you doing?” After that, he criticizes every little thing the other person does- his levels of mercy depending on how much the person deserves it.

A quick question? Minimum amount of insults. Maybe one, two if they drag it out.

Just having a normal conversation? More than a short question, but not an excessive amount. If they drag it out too long, the insults go up.

Flirting? Lays the insults on THICK. Plus, after a moment, an annoyed and rather cocky sounding: “why haven’t you gotten lost already? Can’t you see I’m (Y/N)’s boyfriend? You idiot. Moron. Pervert. Who talks to a taken girl like that??”

Touches you? Doesn’t even happen. They reach for you, and he’s smacking their hand away. “Idiot. What right do you have to touch my girlfriend?? That’s invasive. Gross. You’re so weird, trying to put your sticky little hands on her.”

But! If it’s a situation he can’t interfere with, be it because he’s dead and the other person’s alive, or in which the people needing your attention goes on for too long- he enters Sulky Mitsuba Mode.

Don’t get me wrong, Sulky Mitsuba is still full of insults, just… sad. In those times, as a ghost, he can’t help but wonder if you’re content in the relationship. Look at you… popular with other students- other students who could leave the school, buy you things, and such. He was a cute ghost, but he was a ghost. He wasn’t even really Mitsuba- he wasn’t the classmate you once knew. How hard was it for you? Yet, you gave it your best to get to know him again-

Luckily, Mitsuba has the ability to tell himself “if (Y/N) did that much for me, she must at least care.” However, it won’t get rid of all his doubts- and he’ll still sulk once you finally catch up with him.

“Hey, Mitsuba! Sorry, I’ve been busy!”

“Mh? Have you? I’ve barely even noticed you were gone.”

Terrible acting skills, Mitsuba. He looks annoyed, his voice sounds uninterested, but… it’s still somehow easy to see through his little act. He’s jealous, and you’re bound to be aware of it.

Take a seat next to him, and he’ll scoot away. Be patient- when he’s jealous, it’s like approaching a stray cat. No sudden movements or you’ll scare him away!

“I’m sorry, Mitsuba. I know I’ve been caught up today, and I’m really sad that I haven’t seen you much until now. Did you have anything you wanted to do? I’m all yours now!”

“Tch, whatever. I don’t have anything I want to do, so just leave it be.”

Ah… do I even have to mention that he’s stubborn. Apologize a bit, he’ll dismissively forgive you, and go from there. Lighthearted conversation, asking him about his day, talking about yours- slowly move closer to him, and! Next thing you know, his heads on your shoulder as he rants about something that happened.

Overall, Mitsuba does get jealous rather easily! He’s stubborn as always, partnered with his insults constantly ready to be fired- it’s interesting when he gets jealous. He never outright admits that he trusts you, and doesn’t consider much more than “I’m feeling a bit jealous since this person keeps taking (Y/N)’s attention, but he’d never put the blame on you. Just… like I said, be patient, and don’t get too offended.

TBHK Analysis: Chapter 88

So, it is time once again for me to attempt to analyze the latest TBHK chapter, and hooboy there is just so much to unpack here. We're finally getting backstory on Number Six, which I'm sure will be continued in next month's chapter since we are nowhere near done.

But meantime. Let's see what we can say about what we have, ne?

Firstly, what we have here is some seriously creepy entanglements between the Akane family and the Minamoto clan, and what I took away from it is we should be thinking really hard about what Teru's 'plans' for Aoi might include. Because what we've got is that the Akane family traditionally provided the kannagi sacrifices, and that the Minamoto clan enforced this.

That's new. We knew the Minamotos were exorcists, but not their history in the Town. Now we know that the whole screwed up history of the place, including the regular human sacrifices - the clan's in this up to their necks. And it's entirely possible, even probable, that Teru knows more than a little of the history involved. It would certainly explain his attitude toward Kou 'playing the hero'; if Teru knows any of this, then he knows 'heros' are not what the Minamoto clan are.

Likewise, we know a few more things about the Akane family. We know, with reasonable certainty, that all those wraiths in the pit that Nene met - they were probably all Akanes. We know that the last Akane sacrifice took place long-enough ago that Aoi knew nothing about it, too, or that she was her generation's kannagi. (Which probably means that the last one, that poor guy they dressed in drag and threw in the pit, was at least a sibling of Aoi's great grandmother or something; she'd probably have heard about it if the sacrifices had continued into her grandmother's day.) We know that the Akane family as a whole regarded this as their duty, enough so that they eventually just handed Sumire over as a young child so as to hopefully avoid incurring her resentment later.

It's useful to know that enough people in the village hated this practice of sacrifice that Six had contingency instructions for if anyone tried to help the unfortunate chosen to escape their fate, but not enough people were against it to keep the Akane family from running out of daughters.

We'll undoubtedly learn more about how Six came to have Sumire as his yorishiro, and how he came to be Wonder Number Six, next month. (Personally, I love looking forward to that.) But in the meantime...

1) The boundary is supposed to collapse, it isn't collapsing, and Teru's party aren't responsible. This kinda leaves Hanako as the prime suspect - my guess being that he doesn't want the boundary to collapse while Nene is still in it. Alternatively, what's keeping the boundary from collapsing fully is the presence of living humans still in it...in which case it's Nene's fault. Aoi currently ranks as 'dead', and Six put the three boys on the brink of death.

2) Everyone currently freaking out about the state of the Minamoto party should probably relax. Hanako pointed out quite early on in the series that no one can die in a boundary. There's therefore still plenty of time for the Minamotos and Akane to be healed; right now they're honestly just incapacitated. Whether they're healed, or cast back into the mortal world to die, remains to be seen.

3) Sumire was not sacrificed. Six wants to get Aoi to the Far Shore, because then the sacrifice will stick. Sumire was not in the Far Shore...which means that in Sumire's case, the sacrifice did not stick...unless someone else was thrown in. Sumire not being sacrificed means Six, at some point, disobeyed.

My thoughts on the future (for what they're worth)

1) The story isn't likely to end here, but we're definitely seeing a huge shakeup. If Aoi is sacrificed, Nene lives. If she's the reason the boundary hasn't collapsed (as a living person), then Six is going to hunt her down. (Alternatively it's Hanako, but as they're together, Six is still going to hunt them down.)

2) It's entirely possible that we're seeing preparations to shift the entire story's setting into the spirit world; Nene will go with Hanako regardless of whether she lives or dies (or at least, she'll try to), but the others kinda would've needed a reason and now they may well have one.

ways I go against the grain in this fandom (to my knowledge, I literally follow like 1 mitsukou person on twt and thats it) 

1. love me some evil-for-no-reason tsukasa... ppl wanna treat him like some hapless innocent victim or like he wasn’t freaky as a human (literally dont care that hes a child, kids harming animals/playing with their corpses is freaky) or that the seething vengeance he has against tsukasa for wasting his wish isn’t enough to lose his shit like. I love it! he’s unhinged! he’s not a good person and he wants to take everyone out with him...

2. Teru. I respect the hell out of him and HE IS RIGHT for wanting to kill Hanako. But also, I’m quivering in excitement to see absolutely shredded into pieces when he learns about where Kou’s at mentally... and you know what? It’s’ all his fault! If he hadn’t been such a dick abt supernaturals then kou would’ve said something but nah he was and kou didn’t and now kou’s about to (to teru) off himself.

3. I’m all for Kou becoming a supernatural! Their world isn’t ours, it’s totally different! Kou dying and becoming a supernatural is NOTHING like an irl person dying and yknow what? It’s lowkey been hinted the entire time that it’s the path he was meant to take all along. So yeah I don’t cry and freak out and go wahhh get him into therapy this is so unhealthy... you know whats unhealthy??? LITERALLY EVERYTHING IF WE’RE GOING BY IRL RULES but also he’s not even suicidal!!! he doesn’t view it as death!!!!!! AHHHH!!!!

Genuinely do not understand how ppl can prefer Aoi’s popular girl persona to her actual character. Like I’ve seen so many ppl say they hated her once her real personality was revealed and I just don’t get it. Do you want her character to be one-dimensional and boring?? Do you want her to be nothing but Nene’s best friend and Akane’s love interest?? Well maybe just Nene’s best friend since these same people are very set on keeping her away from the one person who truly understands her and encourages her to grow.

I know a lot of these people don’t understand her character (someone once explained their hatred of her to me by saying verbatim “boohoo she’s popular”) so I shouldn’t care that much but it’s part of a trend I’ve noticed lately of ppl wanting all media to be as simplistic and morally pure as possible. They don’t want conflict, nor complex characters with actual faults. Aoi isn’t even that bad, and she has character development, but that’s too much for some people to handle. They hate her for rejecting Akane without asking WHY she pushes him away, they hate her for lying to Nene without asking WHY she feels the need to do that. You don’t have to dig that deep to find the answers, the text spells it out for us.

Idk it just baffles me that some ppl would rather give Aoi the personality of a cardboard box rather than let her be her own flawed character. Not everybody has to like her ofc but the reasons ppl give for hating her make me think they’re just boring😭. At least with Teru haters I can kinda get it, you can understand his reasons for acting the way he does while still disliking him. But it’s so rare that I find an Aoi hater who understands her character. And when they do they, once again, want the story to be as boring as possible. Throw away all of Aoi’s complexities and everything that makes her unique to make her Nene’s supportive best friend. They want her to essentially be a Disney Channel side character. I’d come for Akane haters too but Ik they can’t read more than three words so I’ll let them keep their peace for now

ft. one-sided terumob and Other Ideas

this manhwa summary/plot hit me out of nowhere, like I just recalled and went, oh my god, this would be the perfect idea for riteru

imagining Ritsu that accidentally confesses to teru. it’s completely by accident, and because a series of events that too complicated to explain. the problem is that now teru is convinced that Ritsu likes him, and nothing that Ritsu says will see as anything but that

“oh, brother-kun. I never knew.” teru says, with a bright smile. “is that how you act with your crushes? where you just shy all the time.... I almost got the wrong time”

this is all going to fast for ritsu to swallow. too fast for to ritsu to deal with. he’s still stuck in the moment where his own mouth betrayed him. “no...” he manages to get out, but it’s all already to late.

every time that ritsu tries to object, teru is going to think that he’s been shy and embarassed which is horribly not true. he hates that teru thinks is, doesn’t want teru to ever think that. the idea of him in — in —

just thinking of it, repulses him.

he tries his everything to correct this misunderstanding. (he fails)

omg, I just remembered! I was thinking about my other wip, where teru does misunderstand about Ritsu asking him out on a date or smth and then, while I was thinking about I was like... what if it was a confession? and then I recalled that manhwa

anyways! oh my god this would definitely get to mob at one point. but first all, thinking about Teru’s thoughts regarding all of this

he’s like of course, little brother-kun likes me. I’m me. but unfortunately for him, teru is already in love with someone else. mob. well. I was thinking that teru doesn’t like ritsu back, but teru being in love with his mob instead also sounds fun

teru looking at him with a pitying look, teru agreeing to week-date and giving Ritsu some of his time to deal with all this. Ritsu being baffled at all. like who the hell...

and just dislikes teru more, because the ego and the audacity he has... just what. the fuck.

Ritsu has never said anything, teru is just running with this and Ritsu is aware of how he likes his brother, so he tries to use that to get out of this whole mess. “but what about—”

teru hasn’t realised that his love for mob was that obvious and goes, oh, and acts all more pitying towards ritsu and is like Ritsu is all heartbroken about his. and going this is all makes sense now. ritsu likes him, and that’s why he tried to intervene with his precious time with mob. it’s all very understandable now.

teru is missing all the points. he just hated teru presence there, and wanted to be the one to spend with his brother then. and he hated how disgustingly shameless teru was around shigeo.

but of course, ritsu doesn’t get time to explain. he doesn’t get time to do anything. he has to go home, wondering, how did fuck this happen, why teru. blames on the elder woman who was there and had to speak then, and interrupt him him at that time, and blames reigen because actually this was all his fault. he wouldn’t be there if it wasn’t for him. teru wouldn’t be there if it wasn’t for him. the elder woman wouldn’t be there if it wasn’t him. clearly, the fault of mis-timing and him tripping of his words all falls on reigen.

he goes home, dark-faced and clutching the handle of his school bag, with a more deep distaste of reigen

oblivious to all that was occurring, and because of his simple act of telling mob something, reigen feels a ice-cold shudder at the back of his neck.

(perhaps, he just got cursed)

ritsu goes home, exhausted by everything, and sees mob there. sitting and looking happy, and expectant when he sees mob.

after a moment, ritsu asks his usual question of, how did your day go?

mob excitedly tells him how he managed to do this thing in the body improvement club which would seem like a trival thing to any person. but ritsu knows about his brother and his struggles and how this is a improvement. also yeah, I did say that mob says it excitedly but felt like I need to express how it sounds monotone and like it’s anything but exciteding and you weren’t someone that knew him you wouldn’t see how obviously exciting he is

at least one of them had a good day. “that’s good. that’s an amazing achievement, brother.”

ritsu feels worse at the fact that he can’t put more enthusiasm at that and hates teru even more, and reigen, and this whole situation

he goes to sleep.

he has a undisturbed sleep to the degree that when he wakes the next time, he can ALMOST delude himself that nothing. absolutely nothing happened.

teru appearing that morning disturbs it. he had forgotten about teru uninvited morning drop-ins despite how he doesn’t live in the same school as them and his house isn’t close to them

(oh my god, this just reminded me of haru. and now I’m thinking about a mp100 khr au which AAAAA would be so good.)

teru is the same as every morning. he’s dressed and dazzling with his bright yellow aura, way to early in the morning, and up in shigeo’s presence as his brother tries to go about his morning routine of getting ready for school.

just got struck by the image of: mob, sleepy, and brushing his teeth in the bathroom while teru stands in there with him and talks about stuff and admires himself in the mirror. it would be so perfect

ritsu is annoyed by his whole existence. he busies himself with getting though, and spends him lowkey (highkey this is ritsu after all) in awful anticipation of whatever teru is going to say about the confession

no, no, no, Hold on wait. ritsu WOULDNT busing himself with getting ready. he would be doing anything but that. he wouldn’t be able to relax and get ready in the house, when teru is here and everything unknown. and especially when teru is here and he talks a lot.... and might say something to his brother...

yeah, no, ritsu is taking no chances. he’s up in teru’s presence and trying to take him from his brother, and just making sure that he doesn’t say something.

.........which of course oh my god horribly makes this misunderstanding even worse

(will teru even learn that it’s misunderstanding? is it more better for him to never know. so what if it was based on a lie? ritsu will fall for him anyways.)

before this, I was thinking that teru doesn’t say anything and ritsu is almost able to relax when he gets a call, and then, a date dropped on him. because of course, having the tense/anticipation built up while teru is the same as always and acting like he doesn’t know anything, until the moment that they are saying goodbye and mob is out of the frame —

doesn’t even GIVE time for ritsu to be aware of anything, or be prepared, when he turns to him after saying goodbye to mob, and with a smile, “

did I say a call before? well. not a call anymore. it’s said in person, with a wink, and a smile. “gonna collect you after school”

ritsu is left........ idk actually. how would he act after that?? how does ONE act after that??? after the

wait, oh my god. yes, teru would definitely also drop in the fact that ritsu focusing on him all that time, and how did he never knew.... telling ritsu how his actions helped to grow this misunderstandings

but, undisturbed by ever, standing in all his dazzlingly glory, teru is waiting for him there while he’s in conversation with others

in contract, ritsu looks weary and time and wishing to be nowhere but here. and wishing that he didn’t take those extra duties, because it was tedious and trying and the fact that teru is here and is still waiting after that....

teru directs a bright smile to ritsu when he notices him, that ritsu has to slightly squint at,

oh my god. that just remembered me of that tumblr post that goes on about “zy was like the sun” descriptions and how they would be squinting or smth. and that’s definitely teru and Ritsu. oh my god, I need to write that scrne

anyways, back to the story. I don’t think that they would go on a date this time around. maybe, something had happen. I was thinking along the lines that teru wasn’t here because of ritsu, but because of mob and plans they had but that went to poof that morning because of reigen or smth. after all, ritsu is the one who likes teru and teru isnt.

actually. maybe that doesn’t happen this scene but I WOULD LOVE a moment where ritsu misunderstands and teru immediately corrects about that, like how he wasn’t here for him or that he wasn’t waiting for him or smth. and that his life/thoughts doesn’t resolve him (implying that Ritsu’s does resolve teru) and honestly, he should know, that this whole setup is because ritsu is the one with the feelings and teru is here and being a good person and indulging him out of pityness

ritsu seethes. none of that is right. and he hates teru’s condescending attitude. like the AUDACITY of this man. (he’s also very, very embarrassed about his mistake which I imagine would him make go the mile in never mistaking teru’s actions; which wouldn’t in favour for teru when he does fall for ritsu and his actions become more genuine in the nature that it’s for love but ritsu has that iron wall up)

so like, going back, where was I? yes, them walking home because there’s enough time for date. that works better for this situation. mmh, but I was thinking about whether teru would be waiting that long for him. or maybe, because he said so and so he did wait. or maybe, that teru has some other plan now and doesn’t have time for that date or smth

either way, ritsu is glad. ritsu is happy. ritsu is very relieved that

just looked at the time and I swear I started writing this somewhere in 9pm and now it’s 10pm. whoops.

anyways, teru asking ritsu questions about his love for him and ritsu saying, “no, I don’t love you” and

“no I don’t — what the hell? what [specific-thing-about-teru-that-teru-expects-ritsu-to-notice] no I haven’t. why would I??????”

and teru going, hmm, “guess your love isn’t that strong” and Ritsu bafflement,

and teru definitely asking him about what about he loves about him, and Ritsu going “nothing” and teru laughing, “you got humour” but ritsu is not joking

(now whether the teru knows ritsu actually doesn’t love him or he doesn’t is never addressed. I love it being ambiguous more)

they eventually reach ritsu’s home, and teru has a good satisfied ego-stroke from that conversation while ritsu just looks Tired

skipping over to fun date shenanigans! what types dates would they go on?

Sociopath Profile: Kira

Real name: Light Yagami (Yagami Raito) From the manga series Death Note (2003-2006) and its anime series adaptation (2006-2007) Voiced by Mamoru Miyano (JP) and Brad Swaile (EN)

Now, the ongoing debate within the fandom is if Light really is a psychopath. Speaking in the clinical sense, he probably isn’t. If so, then not perfectly. However, my profiles focus on the character type of a sociopath which has looser interpretations on the idea. It’s a character analysis, not a diagnosis. And whether or not he was one before he found the Death Note, it doesn’t take him long to become one once it’s in his possession and he realizes that it is the real deal.

[SPOILERS BELOW; SPOILER-FREE VERSION HERE]

Even in the first episode, Light has a disturbing amount of giddiness about all of the names he has written after his freak out. Some might say that it’s just him looking at his good work getting rid of evil, but that’s basically the same as looking at a pile of corpses of the people you just slaughtered. He rationalizes his actions by saying that they’re criminals and no one would care about them anyway, similar to Amanda Waller and how she uses Task Force X.

Make no mistake, Kira is evil. He may have good goals in mind, but his methods involve killing anyone who commits a crime - even ones not worthy of death - and cutting down anyone in his way trying to stop him and expose him. He’s trying to install himself as the god of his new utopia and if he were really as noble as people believe, that wouldn’t really be a concern for him.

Also, consider the fact that he was going to move on to killing lazy and unproductive people once he was done with criminals. Even when he has an issue with Mikami and Takada making the announcement of Kira doing that, he just thought it was too early to make statements like that. This means he already was planning to do it.

And Light absolutely is a narcissist to no end. Again, his very prominent god-complex is one sign of this. He’s the only one who received the Death Note and thinks that he can rule the world with it. Misa did it out of admiration for Kira and Teru did it for that reason and a genuine desire to purge the world of evil.

Mikami especially shows off the problem with Light’s thinking because even before the Death Note, he was trying to get rid of what he perceived as evil. While it might be due to the fact that he didn’t get to develop a god-complex on his own, he didn’t let it get to his head even when he was handed this tremendous power.

There’s also the fact that Light just can’t help but manipulate and lie to people just to cover his own hide. People are tools for him and he will use those tools to the fullest extent. He has killed even his own supporters if it proves convenient. His own father even fell victim to this. As he died, Light seemed more concerned about him writing Mello’s name down rather than the fact that his own father was dying.

He does show concern for his family. When talking with Ryuk he says he hopes he doesn’t have to kill them if they discover the Death Note, suggesting he does wish the best for them. However, that doesn’t negate the fact that he was still willing to kill them in the event that they did find out, seeing it as necessary.

But there are also signs that he doesn’t really care anymore. Even at the warehouse when Matsuda calls him out about his father’s death, he blows it off and says that he died to help create the perfect world where honest people like him wouldn’t die for doing the right thing. To cinch the effect, he calls Soichiro by his given name.

And he doesn’t hesitate to kill whoever gets close to figuring out his secret. He had FBI agents killed just for trying to investigate Kira. And the problem is that Ray stopped suspecting him once the bus hijacking occurred. He never considered that he never gave himself away in the first place. His first thought was that he needed to die. Same goes for his fiance, Naomi. He even gloats about it by telling her that he’s Kira just after sealing her fate by writing her name on the Death Note scrap.

Light also displays symptoms of what would be called a reputation-defending sociopath - one that has traits of narcissistic personality disorder. Unlike most sociopaths, his grandiose sense of self-worth is still able to be shattered. And he’s willing to kill anyone who criticizes Kira. Let’s not forget Lind L. Tailor.

And when he is finally caught by Near, he gloats about it just before it is revealed that he’s been played. He also does everything he can to justify his actions by saying that it’s the fault of the rotten world he lives in that he has to kill criminals. And Near accurately points out that he’s just a delusional serial killer with the worst and most dangerous weapon of mass murder in history.

Whether or not Light shows signs of being one without the Death Note, there is no denying that Kira!Light is definitely pretty close to being one. And at the moment of his death, he showed no remorse whatsoever other than the fear of his own mortality.

Did you know, someone thinks Tsukasa is the problem here, that he caused the hole to do what it did and that it’s all his fault. The three year old who wanted his brother to be healthy, the four year old who didn’t want to go back home because “something bad might happen.” they think this kid is horrible and an abuser because he’s not sobbing about being murdered by his older brother.

Teruteru Hanamura x Reader

Today was the day! He's going to do this!

Teruteru Hanamura, the Ultimate Cook, was going to tell his crush he loves them! And this time he refuses to wuss out.

Teruteru strolled through the halls of Hope's Peak, a cake in his hands and a bouquet of roses poking out of his bag. He wasn't as great a baker as he is a cook, but after weeks of perfecting the recipe, he was confident that (Y/n) would love it. The words "Wanna go on a date?" were delicately written on the top and covered in edible glitter to make the question as obvious as possible.

He hummed as he reached his classroom. Making sure the cake wasn't damaged in the slightest, he went to open the door, ignoring the sound of the school bell. "Good morning, everyone!"

"Good morning, Teruteru. What's the occasion?" Princess Sonia questioned him as she noticed the cake and flowers the short man held.

"Today is the day, your highness!" He beamed as he showed her the cake. "I'm finally going to ask the sweet (Y/n) on a date!"

Sonia clasped her hands together, a smile taking over her features. "Oh Teruteru, that's wonderful!"

"You're not going to wuss out this time, are you?" Mahiru questioned as she walked up to the two chatting friends, placing her hands on her hips. "Last time you tried, you ended up screaming "Taylor Swift" in their face and running away."

Teruteru chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of his neck. "N-not one of my best moments, I'll admit. But today will be different! I declare it! After all, I've worked on this cake for weeks now and I know they'll-"

"S-so sorry for being late! I-"

Teruteru yelped as someone crashed into him from behind, knocking them both to the ground.

"Ah! Are the two of you alright?" Teruteru could hear Sonia's voice as he groaned in pain. He turned his head to see a very, very red (Y/n). "Gyah! Sorry, Teruteru!" They quickly picked themselves up, dusting off their clothes as Teruteru stood back up.

"No worries, (Y/n), it was an accident," Teruteru reassured as he picked up his fallen hat. "Ah!" Sonia gasped. "Teruteru, the cake!"

Teruteru could feel a chill run down his spine. He examined the front of his clothes, only to find it covered in frosting and cake. The cake itself was a mess, crushed and almost flattened. Even the words were unreadable, the frosting and edible glitter smeared.

"Oh no! Teru, I am so so sorry!" (Y/n) cried when they realized what they had done. Tears began to form at the corners of their eyes.

Teruteru sighed. "Now, now. No need to apologize, it was just a cake. " He picked up the ruined cake off the floor. "Besides, it's still edible, even if it can no longer be used for its original purpose." He muttered the last part under his breath.

"Sooo whatcha gonna do with that cake there, Teru?" Akane came out of nowhere, a drop of drool forming at the end of her mouth. Sighing, Teruteru handed her the ruined cake. At least someone would be able to enjoy it.

"If you'll excuse me, I have to go change." The ultimate cook briskly made his way out of the classroom, keeping his head down to keep his embarrassed blush hidden.

Well, the cake idea didn't work. But that wasn't going to stop Teruteru!

He still had the flowers, which had somehow survived the incident that morning. He watched as the sweet (Y/n) came out of the school gym, red from exercise and on edge as they normally were. Clearing his throat, he walked up to them, words already forming in his head.

"Good afternoon, my sweet (Y/n)!"

(Y/n) jumped in surprise, but relaxed as soon as they noticed the ultimate cook walking up to them. "Good afternoon, Teruteru. What brings you here?" They questioned as they eyed the roses he held in his hands.

"Well you see, I was hoping to ask you if you'd like to hang out after school today. You see, a new bakery opened up nearby and I was hoping that-"

"O-oh, I'm sorry, Teruteru. Ibuki, Chiaki, and I already have plans."

A cold feeling washed over Teruteru as his smile dropped. "Oh, I see."

"Gyah! You hate me now, don't you!?" (Y/n) shouted. They clasped their hands together as tears pricked at their eyes. "P-please forgive me!"

"Now, now. I don't hate you, sugar." Teruteru dropped the flowers as he took their hands in his own, feeling the glares from judging students nearby. "You have nothing to apologize for. I, uh-" He picked up the dropped flowers and shoved them into (Y/n)'s shaking hands. "Here, please accept these as an apology for making you think such a thing."

(Y/n) blinked away the tears as they examined the flower. "But Teru, these are lovely. Are you sure I can have them?"

"Of course! Now then, how about we join everyone else for lunch back in the classroom?" Teruteru relaxed as the other smiled shyly at him, nodding.

"You still haven't asked them?" Mahiru raised a brow as he scrubbed away at the chalkboard. It was cleaning time, which meant she and Teruteru were alone as they cleaned and organized the classroom.

"I tried, alright?" Teruteru sighed exasperatedly as he straighten one of the desks. "Things just don't want to go my way."

Mahiru rolled her eyes and turned to the other, "You know, if I didn't know any better, I'd think you weren't trying hard enough!"

Teruteru felt himself become tense. "And just what is that supposed to mean?" He asked the redhead, trying to keep his temper to a minimum.

"You're always saying "today is the day", yet you don't go through with your plans half the time, and when you do attempt one, you either back out last second or make (Y/n) nervous!"

"It isn't my fault!" Teruteru shouted at her. "(Y/n) is the best person I've ever met. They care more about others than they do themselves, they always smile despite being on the verge of crying, they can cheer anyone up with just a word, they... they..."

Teruteru dragged off as he stared at the door. Confused, Mahiru turned around to see what had stopped him so abruptly.

Standing at the door with a very, very blushy face, was (Y/n) themself.

The air in the room suddenly got a bit heavy as Teruteru realized they must have heard everything. "Uh..."

Mahiru smiled. "I'll just leave the two of you alone." She ducked out of the class pass (Y/n), sending them a quick wink.

The two classmates stared at each other, neither quite sure what to say.

Teruteru was the first to break the silence, clearing his throat as he pulled out his comb. "Ahaha. I s-suppose it'd be silly of me to ask you if you heard what I said." He chuckled as he shakingly fixed his hair.

"Uh..." (Y/n) was trying to find the right words, the heat in their cheeks distracting them.

"If you don't feel the same, I understand completely," Teruteru reassured them, trying to keep his voice as clear as possible. "S-someone as amazing as you probably prefers someone bet-"

"I-I like you too, Teruteru!"

"...huh?" Was all Teruteru could say. (Y/n)'s blush slightly reddened as they stared down at their shoes. "I... I like you too. I've liked you for a while now, actually. But, I sorta figured you'd prefer someone who could keep up with you or at least someone who isn't on the verge of a freakout. Or someone who overthinks things. Or someone who-"

(Y/n) bit their lip. "I honestly didn't think you'd like me back."

Teruteru absorbed every word. He almost couldn't believe what he was hearing.

"W-well then..." Teruteru cleared his throat.

Teruteru placed his hand against his chest, sighing a breath of relief as (y/n) looks up at him.

"I do have to say I'm shocked sugar. I wasn't expecting today of all days to be the day you found out. And all this time..."

He looked up at (Y/n) and smiles, walking closer to them. He extends his open hand out, and waits for a moment. "Any day is better than never, and that bakery isn't going anywhere. Do you..."

(Y/n) takes his hand and in a nervous heap hugs him.

"S-sure!" (Y/n) spoke, nodding happily as Teruteru pats their back.

"This time, don't get any cake on me." He teased, smiling as a blush formed on (Y/n)’s cheeks.

With a final good-bye, Teruteru watched as they left the classroom. A warm feeling spread through his stomach as he placed his hands on his hips.

He finally did it.

- If Kou ever sees him crying, he will quickly go comfort his best friend only to be met with a cold shoulder by Mitsuba, telling him to leave him alone.
