Sociopath Profile: Princess Renner

Full name: Renner Theiere Chardelon Ryle Vaiself From the 2013 Overlord novel The Blood Valkyrie and manga and 2018 anime adaptation Overlord II Voiced by Kiyoro Kasuma (JP) and Jessica Peterson (EN)

Renner is a case of sociopathy that could’ve been avoided if things had turned out differently in her childhood. Not particularly from trauma, but from loneliness. From a very young age, she was exceptionally intelligent. Her level was so high above others that many were so intimidated by her that they were fearful. Others simply didn’t recognize it. This eventually drove her to not care about anyone.

Her morals are also lacking. She can understand good and evil perfectly well on an intellectual level. However, she does not bind herself to such concepts herself. In the pursuit of her goals, anything is fair game for her and anyone trampled in the process doesn’t matter.

Renner also has a good amount of superficial charm. She is known to the public eye as the Golden Princess. Tales of her benevolence and kindness are echoed throughout the kingdom. Obviously, this is far from being true. It’s all a front to manipulate others and hide her lack of empathy. Anyone who really knows her can see through it.

Her battle strategy during the demon invasion involved causing the least amount of casualties. She works to risk fewer lives, but any losses are acceptable to her if they can’t be avoided. What scares her brother and Marquis Raeven is that it worked perfectly and was vastly superior to veterans twice her age! In addition to the idea that she sees people as tools, she only plans to marry Raeven’s child son because of their feudal system when she really wants to marry Climb and have his child.

Speaking of which, the only apparent exception to her lack of empathy is the peasant boy Climb, who was the first person to truly appreciate her intellect. But by then, she was already so warped by the isolation. So even her idea of loving him was mostly a selfish obsession. The very reason she loves him is that he appreciates her and not really anything about him specifically. She mostly viewed him as a cute puppy for her to possess.

In fact, that’s almost exactly what she views him as since she was going to have him “chained up” (possibly literally) so he’d be by her side forever to worship her. She even tells her brother that she sent him on a dangerous mission in the merchant district during a demon invasion. The worst case scenario is that she would be revived by Lakyus, giving her a justifiable excuse to have him to herself while he’s weakened for months (possibly as her own personal sex toy).

Manipulating people is also something she’s good at. She pretends to be not as intelligent as she is to present an image of naivety to determine if anyone is going to hurt Climb or has any ill-intent towards him simply due to his commoner blood. This usually results in them being murdered if she finds out that they do. Some maids in training found this out the hard way according to her internal dialog. And one disturbing aspect that shows this is when she looks emotionlessly into her mirror and tries to decide what expression to wear in front of her maid.

And with the way that her kingdom has treated her, her father, and Climb, she has no problem selling them out if it benefits her. She makes a deal with Albedo to sell the kingdom to Aniz as the precursor to becoming a Guardian.

Renner definitely isn’t the Disney-princess archetype.

So I was doing some math, and I THINK Skully is almost as tall as Malleus without his horns

I think the main reference to his height is Epel being surprised they're the same age because he's taller than Sebek, yes? which I find interesting, considering Jade and Malleus -- two of the tallest guys in the main cast -- are also there. and, since I've never been one to not think waaaay too much about the absolute stupidest minutiae about fictional characters, I see two possibilities:

one is that Epel is extremely good at eyeballing heights (I actually do feel like he could be? like. I'd believe he can estimate someone's height fairly accurately by calculating based on the life stages of an apple tree, or how many apples tall they are, or something else apple-related like that.) and Scully does, perhaps, fall into that narrow margin between Sebek and Jade in height.

OR two, out of the three certified Tall Guys there, Sebek is Epel's main frame of reference because he's the only one he's had any real interaction with for, let's be fair, pretty obvious reasons.

SO in conclusion, we still have no concrete answers and will probably have to wait until next year when we get his card profile, alas alas. 😔

When you really think about it, Daniel Molloy being a vampire is objectively terrifying. This is a guy who, as a mortal:

- Followed a stranger to a second location in peak serial killer era California.

- Was down to fuck in a coffin.

- Was down for fangs in his neck.

- Consistently interviewed dangerous or powerful people and was antagonistic to them.

- Literally never stopped when on the hunt for a story to the point it destroyed his personal life.

- Got on a plane in the middle of a pandemic with a degenerative disease because the guy he barely remembers following to some place on Divisadero, who he knows is an immortal killing machine, is offering Daniel his story and this also means Daniel could get some clarity on his fucked up memory.

- Has a big fucking mouth. He will just say fucking anything regardless of it being inappropriate.

- Has a fantastic bullshit radar.

- Beat a professional gaslighter at 3D chess.

...and then said powerful 514yo gaslighter gives this man litres of his, essentially, untouched blood and makes him his fledgling? Like...INSANE.

Daniel is, no doubt, EXTREMELY powerful and with a personality type that will probably make him a good vampire. Absolutely terrifying...and hot. God I hope he's still "sun challenged."

hi the wip for this was absolutely not supposed to blow up. why does that have 1k notes. horrifying. anyways!!!! it’s update time baby!!!! 64 new assets this time around!

so that’s what the caption was supposed to be. this update was already pretty damn big and took a ton of time to make!!! and i was finally done!! but then my hand slipped and now we’re at 143 new assets. super sorry for the delay! That Was Not Supposed To Happen.

i’ll go more indepth below the cut, but this update encompasses all menu/profile art for both isat and sasasaap, battle portraits for sasasaap, every single pixel icon in isat (to my knowledge anyways), the dialogue skipping animations, and a few miscellaneous additions.

also i spent too much time on these to put them below the cut so Please God Look At My Icon Resprites I Spent 16 Hours On Them. enjoy!

okay first things first. why the hell is this batch 143 assets. so. i HEAVILY underestimated how many times the menu drawings are used in the games. even removing all of the custom art, it’s still ≈30-40 variations! that’s a lot! and once i finally finished everything, i got Posting Anxiety and somehow convinced myself that attempting Animation And Pixel Art (two things i haven’t done in YEARS) would be easier than writing a normal post. so here we are.

the custom art here is pretty much par for the course at this point. extra menu art for bonnie, extra expressions for the party in act 5, we’ve done this enough times that it’s expected. i am aware that bonnie’s custom menu art gets completely covered by the ui. i kept it in because it’s really funny (and also i didn’t feel like extending the sprite (but then the sasasaap version forced me to extend the sprite anyways so Whartever)).

once again, provided a spritesheet for sasasaap’s battle portraits! i do intend to cover both games, it’s just a slightly lower priority atm. unlike isat though, i’ve got Less (read “No”) experience with sasasaap, so there might be more issues with those assets?? apologies if there are, i’ll try to fix any issues that come up!

the Miscellaneous Additions i mentioned above are the sprites used on the teleport map and the loading screen, which is just a tiny version of the skipping animation. they were pretty small, so i figured i might as well get them out of the way!

not actually much to say about the 75 icons surprisingly! i haven’t done pixel art in about 5 years?? and that’s a Travesty actually these were super fun to make. i did make mockups for the overworld sprites earlier, but they aren’t Officially part of the redraws (yet) so they’re getting posted seperately

and also!! some exciting news!! this project might actually become a Proper Published Mod pretty soon!! i’ve been in contact with someone who’s willing to help me get everything set up, and i’ll be getting a Usable Computer around the end of the year!!!! it’ll still be at least a month before it’s up (i’d like to get the enemy art finished beforehand wauaua) but!!! still exciting!

Sociopath Profile: Odalia Blight

From the animated television series The Owl House (2020-2023) Voiced by Rachel MacFarlane

One of these days, I’ll actually make a profile about one of these mothers that is actually a decent person. I mean, I don’t think it’s impossible. However, Odalia fits into the pattern of substandard parenting that is rather common whenever I talk about mothers in terms of female sociopaths.

[SPOILERS BELOW; SPOILER-FREE VERSION HERE]

The most notable aspect is how controlling she is of her children. She only cares about how they affect her social standing and her bottom line. Danna Terrance mentioned that she specifically had Amity dye her hair green so that her children can be color coordinated. She and Alador force Amity to be friends with Boscha, not caring about how she feels about her. Notably, when she doesn’t have control over a situation, she will lash out.

She is also very manipulative. She obviously lords her daughter’s potential status within a coven as the reason she needs to study so hard and to be around people she and Alador deem worthy. Odalia also has a jewel that telepathically connects to her daughter so she can subtly influence her without anyone around them noticing it. Later in the second episode of Season 2, she manipulates Luz into a deal to get her, Gus, and Willow back into Hexide by tricking her into being the guinea pig for her weapons demonstration.

The lack of empathy should be obvious since she only views her children as tools for her own status. The fact that she also shamelessly sells weapons to the highest bidder also displays how little she cares about the lives affected by her business. She even starts to work for Emperor Belos after he notices that the Blights have enough arms for a personal militia. There’s also the biggest point that she was willing to murder Luz just for being a distraction to Amity.

And there is a considerable lack of remorse for her actions. She gleefully has Luz attacked by Alador’s newest abomination and will continually lord her superiority over Amity as smugly as possible. She was even willing to back out of Luz’s deal when Amity defies her to save Luz. Odalia rants about wanting to get back at her even though she used the “A Blight never goes back on a deal” creed against Luz.

Notably, she can be convinced to do things if they benefit her. Alador is able to talk her down from her revenge tirade by reminding her of that creed and telling her that her friends are making her stronger with her magic. They may not understand why that is, but it is something that helps her get into a coven faster, so she’ll be willing to deal with it.

And the main bulk of this profile was written before it was revealed that she was a knowing accessory to genocide! Turns out the Day of Unity was Belos' plan to destroy the witches and she was providing him with resources the whole time while fully knowing that is exactly what he was planning. When Amity and her friends tell her what it really means, her response amounts to, "No duh! But I cut a deal that'll make the family rich, so we're all good." I don't think anything can really convince you what she's about more than that. Self-profit above all else.

Happy Dorym Week!

I've been busy with my new job but! I decided to try my hand as some redraws of my old Dorym art. I find it so funny that when Dorym week was planned, we had no idea our blue boy would come back, and with new outfits to boot. We are being fed so so much. Also I am so proud how close my own design of Dorian is to the official lvl 13, I am a little obsessed with the greek gold band crown.
