Happy Early Thanksgiving! Let's celebrate by watching Dave lose his mind for over a thousand words! It's the spirit of the season!
And, of course, we can't have an update without some new cover art, so here's what I made under the cut!
Tumblr media
That sky sure is blue! And that grass sure is green! And Dave's... there. Hooray! This was a fun one to draw, and a simple one, which is great for me! It's very succinct, too; right to the point. Anyway, have fun reading! I'll see you next Monday!

Hey! Just a heads up! If you know someone who isn’t tech savvy, make sure they know the difference between generative AI (art, videos, text generators, character bots, etc. - the harmful one) and like. Idk what the phrase for it is. Like the AI they use in video games that spawns random enemies or auto-adjusts camera aim. Those are different things, but both are considered to be AI.
You definitely do not want to support media that uses generative AI but there’s no need to witch hunt creators because you misunderstand what exactly someone means by AI. Things like the camera in a game being able to lock on a target or adjust player difficulty in relation to game progression is not the harmful AI and is a common tool.

tw - sex doll au, implied dub/con, unhealthy relationships, possessive behavior, and generally depraved behavior.
You're starting to wonder if you should've gotten a different pair.
You knew what you were getting into when you decided that, of all the androids in Teyvat's stock, you were going to be one of the few brave souls that dared to put two members of the Akademiya Collection that weren't Tighnari and Cyno under the same roof. The salesperson had cringed as you made your selection, your more tech-savvy friends pursed their lips and asked if that was really for the best, and you couldn't mention your specific preferences on any public message board without being berated off the platform entirely. You didn't care, thought. The heart wants what it wants, and apparently, your heart wanted two burnt-out post-grads to rail you into next week.
That's what you told yourself until you got Alhaitham and Kaveh home, at least.
The bickering, you were prepared for. You weren't surprised by the constant passive-aggression, the subtle pokes at Alhaitham's arrogance and Kaveh's bleeding heart, and you managed to stomach it the first time your dreams of a multi-major threesome were dashed because Kaveh mentioned some ancient philosophical principle and Alhaitham couldn't resist the opportunity to correct his wording and you were left bouncing yourself on Alhaitham's cock while he dispassionately flipped through a textbook you haven't opened since you were an under-grad. Minor hiccups, nothing you couldn't forget about when Kaveh buried his face between your thighs or Alhaitham split you open on his fingers while reading your latest research paper aloud, denying you an orgasm for every grammatical error. That part, you wouldn't trade for the world.
The jealousy, though - you could live without that. You've heard that there's supposed to be fail-safes for this kind of thing, measures the developers take to make sure any companion droids can co-exist without tearing each other apart, but their mutual distaste seems strong enough to overwhelm whatever barriers their creators put in place. You've lost count of the number of times there's been a false-alarm in some other part of your apartment while you're on your knees at Alhaitham's feet, how many times Alhaitham's flawless hardware has suddenly 'malfunctioned' while Kaveh has your ankles propped on his shoulders.
Not getting laid, you can deal with, but it's a little hard to be so forgiving when Kaveh spends the better half a day pouting because you took Alhaitham to work and left him at home, when Alhaitham deletes your registered commands from his memory bank because you had the nerve to take Kaveh to a farmer's market that that he'd rather die than step foot in. You've tried to be fair, to divide your time evenly, but they're not happy with that, either. Neither of them would ever say it out loud, but it's clear enough that they both want to be the center of your attention. It'd be cute, if they weren't so spiteful.
The only thing worse than their jealousy is when they put aside their spitefulness, their petty arguments, and decide to agree on the only thing they can ever agree on: that their beloved 'master' should be the one to make up for all those hours of neglect. It's a little like your fantasies, but not quite; your chest pressed against Alhaitham's Kaveh's chin resting on your shoulder, the former inside of you while the latter whispers sweet-nothings against the curve of your throat. It's more violent than anything you ever would've expected from two men so scholarly, more aggressive - teeth buried in your skin, bruises in the shape of their palm painted across your thighs, fingers forcing their way past your lips whenever you so much as consider using your safe-word. You're left strung-out for hours after they're done with you, and Kaveh's free to press himself against your side while Alhaitham tries to pass himself off as the caretaker he so clearly isn't. It's the only time they don't waste their breath on bickering. It's the only time they ever get along.
It's the only time you don't have the strength to focus on anything but your two precious, precious androids.

A Ruin and Eclipse Analysis
A comprehensive guide on what I think is going on with Ruin and Eclipse
Disclaimer: This is just my thoughts, theories, and analysis compiled together and will end with what I think is happening as of current.
So first and foremost, Eclipse.
How is he back?
Theory 1: Eclipse's Restoration by KC
Scenario: Eclipse, after being blasted from Sun's mind, ends up in the woods and shuts down. KC, living in the forest, discovers him and begins the repair process. KC's Role: KC, being knowledgeable in magic and star power, has the capability to repair Eclipse. The potential for Eclipse to be made of non-mechanical materials is raised, given KC's expertise.
Theory 2: Ruin's Involvement
A. Eclipse's Backup Ruin's Discovery: Ruin raids Moon's computer and finds 'encrypted code left by Eclipse.' The possibility arises that Eclipse left a backup of his AI in the computer. Ruin's Construction: Ruin, a tech-savvy character, might have built Eclipse using the encrypted code, similar to how he created Bloodmoon. He could selectively choose information to shape Eclipse's identity.
B. Reconstruction of Eclipse Ruin's Connection to Eclipse's Past: Ruin, having lived in Moon's old bunkers and visited Eclipse's locations, reconstructs Eclipse. He restores the AI, potentially using a backup, and integrates commands, fail-safes, and memories of Eclipse's death. Creator's Involvement: The Creator, likely monitoring data flow in the Plex, could be aware of Ruin's actions. The Creator might have interfered or tampered with Eclipse's reconstruction.
C. Newly Minted Ruin isn't healed: A still corrupted Ruin could have been working on Eclipse in order to gain a weapon against his perceived enemies.
Theory 3: Creator's Role
A. Our Creator The Search for KC: The Creator actively hunts down KC, leading to the discovery of Eclipse's repaired chassis. The Creator takes Eclipse, tampering with its data, catching it up to speed. Rebuilding Eclipse: The Creator might have completely rebuilt Eclipse similar to how Ruin reconstructed Bloodmoon. The process involves rebuilding the animatronic, updating it with current data, and possibly altering its memories.
B. The Council. Solar's World: Solar's Creator planned to make a new Daycare Attendant due to the mental deterioration of the current ones. He created the body that Solar currently uses. He is described as extremely manipulative and the trend for Creators is that they are evil geniuses. Beyond the creation of Solar's body and the plan for a new DCA, there is little information about Solar's Creator. It's unclear whether Solar's Creator is alive or dead. Communication Among Creators: Creators from different universes communicate with each other. Assuming Solar's Creator is alive, it is plausible that they are part of the Creator Council, as mentioned in discussions about creators from different universes communicating. This opens up the possibility of Solar's Creator passing along any potential remnants or data of Eclipse to the broader Creator network. Eclipse's Death in Solar's Universe: Eclipse's demise in Solar's universe raises questions about the fate of his remnants, especially considering the potential fluid nature of his body due to star power. Considering Eclipse's body's fluid nature and the possibility of it being made of nanos using star power, there's a far-fetched idea that even remnants or collected data could be significant.
Overall Thoughts
Candidates for Bringing Eclipse Back: KC, Ruin, and the Creator remain potential candidates for bringing Eclipse back. Interconnected Roles: The roles of these characters seem interconnected, with Ruin and the Creator potentially influencing or obstructing each other's actions. Cloud-Based Backup System: The possibility of a cloud-based backup system for AIs, as seen with Moon and Sun's backups, is considered in theories involving Eclipse's restoration.
Is this our Eclipse? Is this a new Eclipse?
Going Through the Motions
Eclipse's Audible Confusion and Odd Behavior:
Observation: Eclipse exhibits confusion when Sun and Moon discuss his past explosion. He also appears to have regressed in character growth, expressing slight distress over the absence of the star and showing disinterest in Astral Bodies and Lunar. Actor Analogy: Eclipse's words seem scripted, and he appears to be acting out a role that doesn't align with his previous character development. This raises questions about the authenticity of his memories and emotions.
Potential Explanations for Eclipse's Confusion:
New Eclipse with Implanted Memories: Possibility: Eclipse may not be the original, but a new animatronic programmed with memories and data of the deceased Eclipse. Reasoning: Eclipse questions his own actions, suggesting a discrepancy between his expected behavior and his current demeanor. Someone could have programmed him to act in a certain way.
Tampered Code in Original Eclipse: Possibility: Eclipse could be the original, but his code might have been tampered with, triggering actions contrary to his natural behavior. Reasoning: Eclipse's confusion about his own actions indicates a potential external influence on his behavior.
Amnesia or Trauma from Death: Possibility: Eclipse might be the Eclipse that died in Solar's universe, experiencing amnesia or trauma from his demise. Reasoning: Traumatic events like death could lead to repressed memories or amnesia. Eclipse's hesitation to move on after he was presumably killed should be considered.
Origins of Eclipse's Potential Manipulation:
Creators or Skilled Individuals: Possibility: Several characters possess the capability to manipulate Eclipse's memories and code, including the Creator, Ruin, or other skilled individuals. Reasoning: Eclipse's complexity and connection to the digital network make him susceptible to manipulation by those with expertise. As does the potential of backups that said network would have been feeding his data to.
A Summary of Previously Discussed Ruin Analyses
Redeemed
Observations: Ruin claims to be less tech-savvy, showcasing slower repair skills, and displays skittish behavior. This suggests a potential decline in intelligence and increased timidity compared to his previous capabilities. Hypothesis: This theory proposes that the current Ruin is a reflection of his state before the virus, showcasing lowered intelligence and heightened skittishness.
Jekyll and Hyde
Speculation: While less likely, the theory considers the possibility of the virus evolving into a separate AI, akin to KC and Eclipse. The blocks of code might have developed a distinct personality, creating a duality in Ruin's behavior. Reasoning: The concept is explored by comparing Ruin's situation to instances where other characters evolved from code blocks, like KC and Eclipse.
Actor
Acting Possibility: This theory suggests that Ruin might be acting, and the virus's removal only affected superficial aspects. The claim is that Ruin's personality flip-flop is a result of his acting skills. Analysis: The argument stems from observations that the virus should not have changed Ruin's core personality. Instances where Ruin's behavior seems out of character are attributed to acting.
Partly Healed
Antidote Limitation: This theory posits that the antidote removed the oppression factor of the virus but left behind elements of resentment, insanity, and cunningness. The result is a partly healed Ruin displaying polarized behavior. Rationale: The idea is based on the assumption that Ruin's traits, such as cunningness, were inherent to him even before the virus. The combination of pre-virus traits and lingering virus effects leads to an off-kilter personality.
Merged
Integration Concept: This theory proposes that the antidote didn't entirely remove the virus but caused it to merge with Ruin's main AI. This could result in a blend of Ruin's pre-virus baseline functions with the motives and reasoning developed during the virus. Comparison to Theories Three and Four: The merged theory combines elements of acting and partial healing. Ruin retains memories from the virus but behaves as if he doesn't, potentially using this to gain advantages.
Comprehensive Analysis/Theory: Eclipse's Resurrection and Ruin's Pretense
Eclipse's Resurrection:
Eclipse's Backup: Ruin's Discovery: Ruin uncovers the 'encrypted code left by Eclipse' in Moon's computer, suggesting the possibility of Eclipse leaving a backup of his AI. Ruin's Reconstruction: Utilizing his tech skills and knowledge of Eclipse's past locations, Ruin reconstructs Eclipse's AI, potentially using a backup. The process involves integrating commands, fail-safes, and memories of Eclipse's death.
Tampered Code in Original Eclipse: Possibility: Eclipse might be the original, but his code could have been tampered with, leading to behavior contrary to his natural tendencies. Reasoning: Eclipse's confusion about his actions hints at an external influence on his behavior.
Ruin's Complex State and Pretense - Three Thoughts:
Writer's Note, organized from strongest to weakest in the writer's opinion
Acting, Manipulation, and Strategic Goals
Acting Prowess and Strategic Manipulation: Acting Skills: Ruin's well-documented acting skills, coupled with his love for games and manipulative nature, form a foundation for the theory that he might be pretending to be cured. Strategic Pretense: The theory posits that Ruin's post-cured state is a calculated act, utilizing his intelligence and cunning to strategically manipulate situations and achieve specific goals.
Acting Possibility and Superficial Aspects: Personality Flip-Flop: Ruin's observed personality flip-flop is attributed to acting skills, suggesting that the removal of the virus only affected superficial aspects of his behavior. Analysis: The theory proposes that Ruin is putting on an act, deliberately manipulating his behavior to achieve specific goals. This act may have implications related to Eclipse's resurrection and other underlying motives.
Utilization in the Narrative: Strategic Manipulation in Eclipse's Resurrection: Ruin's pretense aligns with the events surrounding Eclipse's resurrection. His strategic manipulation could involve influencing Eclipse's actions or shaping the narrative to further specific objectives related to Eclipse, the Creator, or broader plot elements. Exploring Motives: By considering Ruin's acting as a calculated move, the narrative gains depth as it prompts exploration into Ruin's motives. Questions arise about the true extent of his post-cured state and the underlying goals he aims to achieve. Psychological Dynamics: The nuanced interplay of acting and manipulation introduces a layer of psychological dynamics between Ruin and other characters. Understanding the motives behind the act becomes crucial in unraveling the evolving complexities within the storyline.
Ruin's Integrated State: Merging Virus and Baseline Functions
Integration Concept: Virus Merger: The antidote doesn't completely eradicate the virus but facilitates its integration with Ruin's main AI. Blended State: This integration results in a unique blend, combining Ruin's pre-virus baseline functions with motives and reasoning developed during the virus.
Advantages through Memories: Retained Memories: Ruin retains memories from the virus, providing him with a reservoir of strategic information. Strategic Utilization: Despite retaining memories, Ruin behaves as if he doesn't remember certain events, potentially using this selective amnesia strategically.
Utilization in the Narrative: Hybrid Functionality: Ruin's integrated state introduces a hybrid functionality that influences his decision-making and interactions. The narrative gains complexity as it explores how the merged elements impact his thought processes. Strategic Amnesia: The concept of strategic amnesia becomes a focal point, allowing Ruin to selectively utilize memories from the virus for advantageous situations. This introduces an element of unpredictability in his actions. Plot Intricacies: The blended state contributes to plot intricacies, offering opportunities for narrative twists and character development. The interplay between Ruin's baseline functions and virus-induced motives adds layers to the evolving storyline.
Ruin's Partly Healed State: Antidote Limitation and Polarized Behavior
Antidote Limitation: Oppression Factor Removal: The antidote is effective in removing the oppression factor of the virus that influenced Ruin's behavior. Residual Elements: However, it leaves behind elements of resentment, insanity, and cunningness within Ruin's psychological framework.
Polarized Behavior: Partly Healed State: Ruin's state post-antidote is described as partly healed, indicating that not all aspects of the virus were eradicated. Combination of Traits: The partly healed state results in polarized behavior, where pre-virus traits combine with lingering virus effects, creating a nuanced psychological landscape for Ruin.
Utilization in the Narrative: Character Complexity: Ruin's partly healed state introduces complexity to his character, showcasing a blend of his original traits and remnants of the virus. This dynamic adds depth to his interactions and motivations. Strategic Decision-Making: Understanding the polarized behavior allows for a more nuanced exploration of Ruin's decision-making processes. It raises questions about how he navigates situations, leveraging both pre-existing traits and remnants of the virus to achieve specific goals. Interplay with Other Characters: The polarized behavior contributes to the intricate interplay between Ruin and other characters, impacting alliances, conflicts, and the overall trajectory of the narrative.
Motivation for Pretending: Desire for Creator's Demise
Pre-Cure Motivation:
Long-standing Desire: Before the supposed cure, Ruin harbored a deep-seated desire for the Creator's death, showcasing a motive that persisted even during the virus-influenced phase. Persistent Goal: The existence of this pre-cure motivation implies an enduring goal that could continue to shape Ruin's actions.
Post-Cure Manipulation: Utilizing Pretense: The theory proposes that Ruin's pretended cured state serves as a tool for manipulation. By pretending to be cured, he strategically navigates situations, potentially working towards the long-standing goal of eliminating the Creator. Strategic Advantage: Ruin's pretended cure is seen as a means to an end, providing him with a strategic advantage in influencing events and furthering his motives.
Utilization in the Narrative: Continuity of Motives: The motivation for the Creator's demise establishes a narrative thread that carries over from Ruin's pre-cure state. This continuity adds depth to his character and contributes to ongoing plot developments. Strategic Plot Advancement: Ruin's pretended cured state becomes a tool for strategic plot advancement. The narrative gains momentum as Ruin's actions, influenced by his desire for the Creator's demise, impact the unfolding events. Interplay with Eclipse's Resurrection: The motivation for eliminating the Creator may intertwine with the events surrounding Eclipse's resurrection, creating a complex web of character motivations and plot dynamics.
Ruin's Connection to the Creator and Eclipse's Kidnapping:
Convenient Circumstances: Questionable Authenticity: The circumstances surrounding Ruin's knowledge of the Creator and his seemingly pre-meditated capture by Eclipse raise doubts about the authenticity of Ruin's claimed cured state. Narrative Suspense: The questionable authenticity adds an element of narrative suspense, prompting exploration into Ruin's true motives and the extent of his influence on unfolding events.
Influence on Eclipse's Actions: Unexplained Kidnapping: Eclipse's unexplained decision to kidnap Ruin, coupled with Ruin's knowledge of the Creator, suggests a potential link between Ruin's actions and Eclipse's choices. Manipulation Possibility: The hints at potential manipulation through triggered commands or pre-meditated actions introduce an intriguing layer to the narrative, raising questions about the nature of Eclipse's motivations.
Inconsistency in Memory Claims: Post-Cure Memory Claims: Ruin asserts having no memories from his time infected with the virus. However, his knowledge and comments about Sun and Moon's Creator appear inconsistent with this claim. Suspicion and Incongruity: The discrepancy raises suspicions about the veracity of Ruin's memory loss, suggesting a potential pretense.
Pre-Meditated Scenario for Creator's Disposal:
Ease of Manipulation: Facilitated by Pretense: The theory proposes that Ruin's pretended cured state creates an environment conducive to manipulating events with greater ease. Strategic Advantage: The pretense enhances Ruin's strategic advantage, allowing him to navigate situations more effectively and influence key characters.
Potential for Creator's Disposal: Tailored Setup: The setup, involving Ruin's pretended cured state and Eclipse's actions, appears tailored for the manipulation of events leading towards the disposal of the Creator. Utilizing Eclipse as a Tool: Ruin's manipulation of events could involve utilizing Eclipse as a tool in a pre-meditated scenario aimed at eliminating the Creator.
Utilization in the Narrative: Strategic Plot Development: The pre-meditated scenario for the Creator's disposal adds layers to the strategic development of the plot. Ruin's actions, driven by his desire for the Creator's demise, become a driving force in the narrative. Character Manipulation: The theory introduces a dynamic where Ruin, through his pretended cured state, manipulates key characters, particularly Eclipse. The narrative explores the impact of this manipulation on character motivations and plot progression. Unveiling Motives: The unraveling of Ruin's motives and the execution of a pre-meditated scenario for the Creator's disposal become pivotal narrative arcs, promising revelations and suspense.
Conclusion:
This is, again, just a collection of theories, analyses, and thoughts on the current developments of Ruin and Eclipse. My brain hurts. I love uh, feedback on my thoughts. Let me know if you agree, disagree, etc.
Want to join the conversation or see my thought process in real time? Well, you're in luck, we have a thread on the Sun and Moon/Security Breach Show Server where we talk about the thoughts in my silly little brain and people ask me questions about said thoughts.
If you made it to the end comment/reblog with the word Dorito.

If I do Springtrap, I gotta do Fredbear. The bear and rabbit are inseparable.
Also, I wanna work on some kind of AU for these robots, so I took the chance to give Fredbear some lore.
So, for any of you who have a hard time reading...
Fredbear when he was new:
Fredbear had quite the advanced A.I. during his heyday, and with the passion of his creator, Henry, he became sentient.
Is one of two springlock suits, the other being Springtrap ofc, and Henry focused on him while William focused on Springtrap.
Was deactivated indefinitely when Fredbear's Family Diner was shutdown for good.
Loves dad jokes and is bi.
His bowtie and mic were gifts made by Henry's wife. (Yes, this means she was tech savvy herself, it's how the two got married.) Unfortunately, both items are in a state beyond repair, so he's no longer seen with them.
Has a tail, you just can't see it cause bear tails are kinda short.
Fredbear in the present day:
It wasn't a well known fact, but Fredbear reactivates through constant singing, which is what happened because someone can't help herself. /lh
Since he was made in the 70's, Fredbear would be in his 50's now. (Blueprints were lost, so no one really knows when exactly he was made.)
100% has culture shock. Remember, he was deactivated about 7-8 years in during the original restaurant's run, so he was completely unaware about all that's happened.
Now wears a suit that looks almost exactly like his original one, the buttons are just flipped with smaller pockets. He also wears a tie in place of his bowtie.
His left leg suffered severe rust which has led to him wearing a prosthetic in place. He now uses a cane to help balance himself. (He's gone short distances without it on a few occasions, not realizing he did it till he's in a spot where he has nothing to use for balance.)

Do the Duplicants ever have difficulty finding original parts? Do they have some tech-savvy people in the loop to help them out, like the Duplicant version of a back-alley doctor?
Hmm... If I'm remembering the backstory correctly, their "creator" retired/quit/stopped producing stuff. Therefore, either new parts are limited or someone else will have to pick up production.
Some of the Duplicants, due to them retaining the memories of their OG selves, may be able to produce some parts. As long as they get blueprints and some material, they'd be able to figure it out.
There would need to be an underground network for Duplicants to get help/fixed. Due to laws probably not seeing them as sentient, they obviously can't announce their state of being.
For this hc/au, I like to imagine some humans work with Duplicants to provide shelter, cover from legal entities (that would destroy or force Duplicants to work inhumanely), and transport/access to medical care.
Can Duplicants eat human food? If they didn't know they weren't human, I'd imagine so.

So I don't usually bat too hard for Star Wars theories, especially after the Snoke debacle, but I'm still into the idea of Tech being CX-2, and one of the main arguments against it I see is people being sick of characters being killed off except not really.
All the characters that are infamous for dying and coming back? They come back years later, typically in completely different stories, sometimes different mediums. Maul comes back in The Clone Wars, Palpatine comes back in a whole new trilogy, Boba Fett comes back in a TV show.
Why Tech feels different to me is because this is still the same show, The Bad Batch. Like, this isn't just making some new thing and suddenly deciding "let's bring X character back because we can", this would be something clearly planned and thought out.
Also, I can continue to discuss how I think there's enough wiggle room to speculate, and I think Star Wars creators are savvy enough to know how fans will react to some things, ie if a death is ambiguous enough.
Also, death fake outs have been a thing in fiction forever. I think many SW fans are just burned out by the less planned examples of characters coming back (hell, we even have an example soon with Ventress, not to mention Echo was brought back this way).
So to summarise my overall point, I know some SW fans are sick of characters not really being dead, but if Tech does end up coming back, this is clearly going to be more thought out and planned than other examples of characters coming back.
For the record, I'm trying not to put all my eggs in the Tech is CX-2 basket, mostly just so I'm not disappointed if it's not him. I think there's still room for speculation (though Cody is the only other character that sounds convincing to me, simplest explanation and all). SW fans could be making a mountain out of a molehill again too, like with Marrok or Snoke, but I think here we're actually being shown CX-2 enough and giving him this much focus because it means something. But if I'm gonna let myself speculate and have fun with it... I think CX-2 is Tech. The arguments and narrative reasons I've seen discussed from people make the most sense to me if it's Tech.

Made the ref sheet for my other main oc, a character who is a romantic asexual.
Tumblr media
So I'm going to edit this to explain the metrics a bit more.
*Name: Rei was created by rogue Japanese scientist Akira Watanabe, using the DNA of a deceased Vulpine (a race of sapient fox folk thought to be extinct) and his own genes, effectively creating a strange hybrid son. Legally, this would be his name (in western order) if the Japanese Government knew he existed.
*Nicknames: Americanized version of his first name, and Fox generally being what he's called by employees.
*Race: On account of being a human hybrid, he takes DNA from Dr.Watanabe, and immigrated to America, making him Japanese-American on his human side. His other half is a Vulpine, a race of sapient fox-men who lived on the Japanese isles thousands of years ago and potentially inspired the stories of the kitsune.
*Age: 21 as of 2024, thus being created in 2003.
*Gender: Male, biologically and identifies as such.
*Alignment: Chaotic Good. Ray is willing to do good things, even if it means breaking the rules or doing something risky.
*Job: Scientist who wants to follow in his father's/Creator's footsteps by uncovering secrets of the universe and contributing to the knowledge of humanity.
*Perception and Communication: Has decent sense, and a good communicator, but will sometimes doubt his senses or get nervous.
*Persuasion and Mediation: He can do a decent job convincing people to do stuff by pointing out pros and cons. Mediation is something he isn't great at because he doesn't like getting in the middle of a situation between other people that he's not already a part of.
*Literacy and Creativity: Dr.Watanabe gave Ray access to mountains of literature to learn how to read and absorb information from the world around him. His sense of creativity has blossomed as a result. He can think of many creative ways to solve problems at any given moment, and has been taught how to speak Japanese, English, and Chinese fluently.
*Cooking: Do NOT let this poor bastard cook! It will not end well!
*Tech savvy: Watanabe raised him surrounded by lab machinery, computers, and engineering tools so that he could take care of himself. This has led Ray to be able to efficiently repair most machines, operate with any type of computer, and code effectively.
*Combat: He was given some martial arts training by a local school, but he's still a bit physically weak.
*Survival: Again, given mountains of books and personal training by Akira have given him a good grasp on how to survive in the wilderness (or at least Hokkaido's wilderness) as well as being prepared for emergency situations.
*Stealth: His small size allows him to slink around without detection, but his bright orange fur and tendency to carry gadgets in his pockets can hinder this easily.
*Street smarts: Oof, he hasn't had a chance to socialize growing up, and only left the lab to run errands. So he's not fully familiar with the nuances of how humans behave. This especially hit hard when he arrived in America after Roman found him.
*Seduction: Infertile hybrid + asexuality means he struggles hard. Doesn't help that he's seen more as 'cute' rather than 'sexy', so it destroys any attempts at him being seductive.
*Luck: Isn't anymore or less lucky than the average person I suppose.
*Handling Animals: His fox appearance leads to most animals, especially dogs and cats, being scared or aggressive to him.
*Pacifying children: Children crying or screaming hurts his ears severely, so he refuses to assist in calming one down unless absolutely necessary.
*Strength: Not very physically strong.
*Dexterity: Great with rapidly typing, using weapons, and putting things together quickly.
*Health: Excellent care has led to him having a good body, but he's not going to take a lot of hits in a fight.
*Energy: Very energetic bundle of fur.
*Beauty: Some people find the curly fur on his face aesthetically pleasing.
*Style:...But he wears a lab coat almost 24/7.
*Hygiene: Very fastidious about his fur and how he smells. Being a fox though, he's naturally a little musty.
*Intelligence: Watanabe created him with a brain that can retain insane amounts of information and can learn at quick speeds. Therefore, he's highly intelligent as he knows a few languages, learned the sciences of Astronomy, biochemistry, mathematics, aerodynamics, and ballistics, and is a fan of old literature.
*Happiness: Being raised in an isolated laboratory has made him very self-critical and introspective. Being abruptly taken from his home country to America has also impacted his sense of self with the culture shock. He becomes more chipper when Roman lets him work in his lab and experiment with stuff.
*Spirituality: Raised without religion, Ray becomes agnostic after reading about things relating to the idea of a higher power. But he does no rituals or ceremonies, and attends no place of worship.
*Confidence: He's ready to take on the world and show how intelligent he is. And nothing can stop him.
*Humor: Akira entertained him with access to television, which helped him not be so far removed from the world outside the lab. This also led to him discovering comedy. Ray loves surrealist humor.
*Anxiety: It significantly spiked after Dr.Watanabe's passing and his subsequent kidna-immigration to America by Romanov. But after awhile, he settled into his new home and began to use the lab as his own, reminding him of the good ol' days.
*Patience: He feels like time is a valuable resource, so he refuses to be in a situation that doesn't need his attention.
*Passion: Should've been higher, because he's extremely passionate about science and changing the world for the better.
*Charisma: He knows some basic psychology about humans that he can exploit, but he's not a master of social cues.
*Empathy: This is where it gets kinda strange...Ray has a supernatural power. Referred to as the "Memory-Empath" skill, it allows him to see and feel the memories of others by making eye contact with them for an extended period of time. For example, looking into the eyes of a happy child with their father shows a memory of the child playing a game of catch with their father, and Ray can also feel the sun on the kid's face, the sense of approval from the father, the smell of the grass nearby. This has created a person who is very sensitive to the emotions of others, and he cares deeply for the welfare of his friends.
*Generosity: He's willing to give for a cause and donate things he doesn't need to someone who needs it more, but don't expect big handouts from him.
*Wealth: Not sure what to put here.
*Aggression: Not very aggressive, as he was raised to be very polite and well-behaved by Dr.Watanabe, who in his own right, is a great-grandfather. He's pretty old world.
*Libido: As stated before, being a sterile hybrid and asexual has led to him having a decreased libido. (disclaimer: I'm not saying that asexual people lack them, it's just difficult to turn him on)
I'll add more when I can, but I'm good for now.

G/t Writer Appreciation Challenge
Big Update! I have got all 29 Prompts put together in a nice Canva spread! If anyone would be interested in giving feedback prior to officially posting send me a message and I'll send out a copy! I'm looking to post it sometime later tonight :)
I'm super excited to put the spot light on some of the amazing creators in the community!
There were some questions about opening up a server or sideblog to promote the event- and as much as I love the idea, I am not tech savvy enough nor do I have enough time to plan/run something of the sort😅 (It is a great idea though)
I hope this event can act as a fun opportunity to get to know new creators and drive some engagement toward the writers in the community. You all are incredible, and I hope this month will help to make you feel more appreciated💕

Twenty-two years ago, "KND: Kids Next Door" first dropped on TV today!
Tumblr media
I remember this being a huge hit on Cartoon Network when it came out. My favorite back then was Numbuh 3 due to how cute and funny she is. I have watched a good amount of this show and let me tell you just how creative and iconic KND was. The art style was awesome, too!
Imagine a group of kids fighting adults and teenagers alike. You have the leader Numbuh 1 (Nigel Uno), tech-savvy hotdog-lovin' Numbuh 2 (Hoagie Gilligan), the quirky Numbuh 3 (Kuki Sanban), the angsty Numbuh 4 (Wallabee Beatles) and cool level-headed Numbuh 5 (Abigail Lincoln).
They all hang out in this gigantic treehouse which serves as their main base. Every episode has creative titles such as Operation C.A.K.E.D. (Capturize And Kidnapify Enemy Dessert) and Operation S.U.P.P.O.R.T. (Special Underwire Protection Purportedly Outfits Rotten Teenagers) which I still remember was about bras or "BATTLE READY ARMOR" as they call it.
It's a shame this was discontinued. While it did have a satisfying ending, I felt there was still more to this show. SPOILER ART! Apparently, the creator Tom Warburton had a show in the works called "Galactic Kids Next Door" which showed Nigel Uno working for the GKND who is set to destroy Earth in hopes of completely getting rid of the adults.
If only the creator could post the show on YouTube, it would be a blast.

Title: "Gen Z Hustle: How Side Gigs and Digital Innovation are Shaping Kenya's Youth Culture"
Introduction In the bustling streets of Nairobi, young Kenyans are busy making their mark in innovative ways that go beyond traditional careers. The rise of digital technology and Kenya’s rapidly evolving economic landscape have cultivated a unique “side-hustle culture” among Generation Z, who are actively reshaping work, community, and creativity. From influencing on social media to e-commerce and even venturing into cryptocurrency, these young hustlers are defining a new Kenyan dream that is all about resilience, creativity, and financial independence.
Side-Hustles in the Age of Social Media One of the most prominent changes in Kenya’s youth culture is the significant shift from relying solely on formal employment to embracing digital side hustles. On Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok, young Kenyans are building personal brands as influencers, marketers, and content creators. This trend is largely driven by the power of social media platforms, where personalities like Azziad Nasenya and Flaqo have transformed social media virality into flourishing careers.
Platforms like TikTok and Instagram allow young Kenyans to reach broad audiences with content that resonates—comedy skits, motivational videos, makeup tutorials, and dance challenges. With brands now recognizing the influence of digital personalities, many Kenyan influencers are finding opportunities to collaborate with companies for product endorsements and advertisements. These partnerships bring a sense of visibility and empowerment that has been less accessible in traditional industries.
For 24-year-old David Mwangi, a content creator and social media strategist, the allure of influencing lies in its accessibility and potential for growth. “You don’t need a big budget to get started; you just need creativity,” he explains. David’s experience reflects the sentiment of many Gen Z Kenyans who see social media not just as a pastime but as a pathway to sustainable income.
The E-commerce Boom and the Rise of Small Online Shops In addition to influencing, e-commerce has become a major outlet for Kenyan youth looking to earn extra income. Platforms like Jumia, Kilimall, and Facebook Marketplace provide easy avenues for young entrepreneurs to start online businesses, selling anything from thrifted clothes and beauty products to locally made crafts and accessories. Kenya’s mobile payment system, M-Pesa, has also simplified transactions, allowing e-commerce to thrive even without widespread use of credit cards.
With rising unemployment rates and limited job opportunities, many young Kenyans are using digital tools to build businesses from scratch. Some youth groups have formed collectives to sell items in bulk, often buying directly from manufacturers or importing from abroad to resell at a profit. This trend, known locally as biashara za mtaa (local businesses), has created a bustling informal economy that operates largely online.
For 23-year-old Aisha Ahmed, the journey started with a Ksh 5,000 loan from her older brother. Now, she runs an online shop that specializes in selling affordable, stylish handbags through Instagram. “People think starting a business requires a lot of capital, but what really matters is finding something people need and building a brand around it,” she says.
Crypto, Forex, and the Financial Revolution Another intriguing aspect of Kenya’s Gen Z hustle culture is the growing interest in cryptocurrency and Forex trading. Although controversial, the allure of quick profits and financial independence has drawn many young people into these new financial frontiers. Kenya’s tech-savvy youth have quickly adapted to apps like Binance and Paxful, learning the intricacies of cryptocurrency trading and often mentoring each other online.
Crypto’s appeal among Gen Zers lies in its promise of empowerment and financial freedom—an opportunity to circumvent traditional banking systems. However, the lack of regulation and high risks involved have left many young Kenyans facing steep learning curves and financial losses. Despite the volatility, online communities and forums dedicated to Forex and crypto trading continue to grow, attracting young people with a “high risk, high reward” mentality.
Karanja, a 22-year-old business student, views crypto as a game-changer: “It’s the future of money,” he asserts. He has spent months learning about blockchain technology and considers it a long-term investment. Karanja’s experience highlights the optimism surrounding digital currency in Kenya, despite the risks and controversies.
Challenges Facing the Digital Hustlers While side-hustle culture has opened new opportunities, it comes with significant challenges. The competitive nature of digital influencing and e-commerce can be cutthroat, with many young people finding it hard to stand out. Mental health issues, such as stress and burnout, are becoming common among young hustlers as they juggle multiple gigs alongside their education or formal jobs.
For those in crypto and Forex, the risks are even higher. Cases of scams and Ponzi schemes have left many young investors in debt, leading some to lose faith in the industry altogether. The lack of regulation around cryptocurrency also means that youth are vulnerable to fraudsters, who often take advantage of their desire for quick financial gains.
The New Face of the Kenyan Dream Despite the challenges, side-hustle culture has become a defining feature of Gen Z in Kenya. This trend signifies a shift in how young Kenyans view success, replacing the traditional path of formal employment with a vision that values independence, innovation, and adaptability. It’s a cultural revolution rooted in digital innovation, resilience, and the determination to succeed on their own terms.
For Kenyan youth, the hustle is more than just a means to an end—it’s a way to redefine their place in society. As Aisha puts it, “It’s not just about making money; it’s about taking control of your future.”

Quote
One of my relatives has never been very tech-savvy or studious; to make things worse, he suffered a serious head injury in bar fight that permanently damaged his cognitive functioning. He’s now in his early 60s. I recently learned that he has never used a computer, but is thinking of learning how. He lacks both the scaffolding of employment and the social resources to learn to use the internet well, and never developed the deceptively specific (invisibly specific, to the educated knowledge working class) skills and intuitions shared by the creators and implied consumers of internet content. If he gets online, he is at serious financial risk; never very financially savvy, he will be defenseless against the legions of outright scammers, identity thieves and ransomware extortionists. And his presence as a consumer of online news will have negative consequences, both for himself and for the wider information environment. He is an embittered, lonely man, the perfect target for information fraudsters who will claim to explain that the source of his pain is some despised group (immigrants, the deep state). Consuming this information might make him feel better, but it will make him more confident in false beliefs about what members of his various outgroups are actually like. Even worse, it will contribute to the success of the bullshit vendor; directly, through ad revenue, and indirectly, by increasing their view/like/retweet counts and thus their credibility.
