just today the eras tour dates in vienna were cancelled due to terrorist threats being made. im so glad they were able to notify people in time and stop the shows. but thats insane. people cant even go to a concert without being scared. it's supposed to be a fun, memorable night, but now those dreams have been ruined. glad everyone is safe and nothing bad happened, but i just feel so so bad for taylor and especially everyone who had tickets looking forward to this

I'm glad that Taylor's safety and the safety of the fans were considered for the Vienna shows and that by cancelling these shows that no one ends up hurt

But

I also know that there are a lot of heartbroken people out there who spent money and time looking forward to these shows. Not going to a show that youve been looking forward to is such a tough thing and if that's you I hope you know it's okay to feel sad/upset about the concert being cancelled even with the reasoning behind why it was.

I'm feeling sorry for all the Swifties who were planning to attend one of Taylor's concerts in Vienna. But under the given circumstances it's the best to cancel those concerts. I hope @taylorswift will reschedule them and you all will get another chance. From someone stabbing multiple little girls and parents at a Taylor Swift themed dance class, to someone in Vienna getting attacked because they were wearing Taylor Swift merch, to Travis Kelce being threatened to the point of needing constant security, to one of Taylor's stalkers nearly getting into one of her concerts and now this...

I am so, so happy that the authorities in Vienna thwarted the plans, I am so happy that Taylor, the dancers, the crew and the fans are as safe as they can be. Tonight could have been a lot worse so I am glad that the shows were cancelled and I can only hope they will be rescheduled.

Due to the rising political unrest in both London with the riots that I am admittedly uneducated about and the upcoming U.S election with one of the candidates being the same one who staged a violent coup on our capitol after losing in 2020, I am TERRIFIED for Taylor's safety and would not be surprised if more shows get cancelled or postponed.

I know that she probably won't see this, but on the off chance she does, I just want to say this; Taylor, my heart goes out to you. Any of the grief I feel as a fan, you must be feeling tenfold. Please know that it is NOT your fault, none of this is your fault, and your fans will understand if the remaining European and U.S shows get postponed or cancelled for your and our safety, and your fans will be waiting for you when all of this dies down and it is safe to perform again.

And to my fellow Swifties. PLEASE be careful. Evaluate where you wear your merch, make sure not to gather in large groups of other Swifties and make sure to bring ways to protect yourself if you do.

Taylor Swift Vienna concerts cancelled over fears of attack

Organisers of three Taylor Swift concerts in Vienna this week cancelled them on Wednesday after authorities announced arrests in connection with an apparent plot to carry out a terrorist attack at a concert-like event in the Vienna area.

Event organiser Barracuda Music said on its Instagram account that the concerts had been cancelled due to the threat of terrorist attacks.

Earlier on Wednesday, authorities said they had arrested two extremist suspects, one of whom appeared to be planning an attack on an event in the Vienna area, such as the upcoming concerts. The concerts were to be held in Vienna on August 8-10.

Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer called the cancellation of the concerts “a disappointment for all fans” in a publication on X, but stressed the seriousness of the threat of a terrorist attack in Vienna. According to Nehammer, the threat was identified through co-operation with Western services.

Austrian police arrested two people on suspicion of terrorism on August 7. Law enforcers considered concert venues to be their targets. According to Franz Ruf, head of the public security service, law enforcers identified “relevant preparatory activities” and also established that the alleged 19-year-old attacker was focusing specifically on Taylor Swift concerts in Vienna. Meanwhile, police have announced plans to beef up security measures at concerts in the capital.

One of the suspects was detained in the town of Ternitz, south of Vienna. Police believe he had become radicalised online and had sworn allegiance to the “Islamic State.” The second suspect was detained the same day in Vienna.

Earlier, the media reported that in Warsaw, environmental activists of the organisation Ostatnie Pokolenie blocked the entrance to a Taylor Swift concert in protest. They posted a video of the action in social networks. The protesters blocked the road near Poland’s largest National Stadium.
