GET A (CHAT) ROOM!
INTRODUCTIONS: yap 1, yap 2 and megumi.
MLIST.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
MEGUMI FUSHIGURO
"graphic design is my passion!"
typical rich college kid (?) half brought up by none other than The Satoru Gojo. honestly? he doesn't need to work, he just does it to make him feel better about himself & not like a freeloader. does shitty graphic design on his super expensive laptop and gets people to pay too much for it because his designs look complicated and cool (he did it in five minutes). an avid confession site scroller, even though he pretends to hate them. no one knows that, though. he thinks that he's managed to convince himself that whatever he feels for y/n is purely platonic — that's not a mistake, he's actually aware of his feelings but tries not to be.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
NOBARA KUGISAKI
"if you're wondering whether they love you, they don't."
slightly broke model who lives with yuji and megumi. she is THEEE hottest stuff in town and everyone knows hot people don't get paid enough anyways. reads confessions, sends confessions. it's for the plot. ALSO the local relationship expert she knows everything! ask her! also, don't try to hide anything from her, because she'll Know. she will. she sees through all of megumi's lies, but humors him when necessary— even if she loves embarrassing her friends, she's also very much above doing anything that will actually cause any significant harm to them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
YUJI ITADORI
"do you like scary movies? or something."
horror movie buff; fan of all things occult. every now and then he commits the odd illegal thing. but other than that he's totally a nice sunshine guy! if he says anything suspicious or off-putting out of the blue, just ignore it. he works part time as a middle school soccer & track team's assistant coach, the kids love him. he loves his brother! they hang out a lot. he acts dumb a lot but he isn't really; he's also near top in most of his classes. somewhere on the aro slash ace spectrums i don't make the rules. also he likes cooking.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
writers block gone-ish ahaha
dumb yuji agenda is ass btw he isn't stupid :< idc if it's not canon THIS is my canon
no curses au ! did i mention

One of the fun things about shipping Haladriel and about Galadriel's story in Rings of Power, for me, is that we know exactly where this is going to end up. And I wanted to babble for a bit about where that place is because I have seen so many people view it as "she is retired to some woods to be a passive wife-and-mother who can do magic but in a mystical New Age-y way", and: no! No.
So a quick overview of where she will end up by LOTR:
Very much not removed from the war against Sauron.
She is constantly mind-battling against Sauron: One of the lines that inspired McKay and Payne's whole show was her talking about this: "I say to you, Frodo, that even as I speak to you, I perceive the Dark Lord and know his mind, or all of his mind that concerns the Elves. And he gropes ever to see me and my thought." In one of the versions of the Annatar story in Unfinished Tales, Sauron immediately realises she will be his 'chief adversary', and has apparently not changed that assessment 3500 years later.
She co-ordinates joint efforts against Sauron: The White Council that Elrond talks about in LOTR, the combined force of Ring-bearers, wizards and elf-lords that first drives Sauron out of Dol Guldur - she's not just on that, she founded it.
She gets Gandalf back after Moria and the Balrog: Galadriel learns what's happened to Gandalf from the Fellowship when they arrive in Lothlórien. The the Fellowship are sad; the elves of Lothlórien mourn; Celeborn loses it a bit and says Gandalf 'fell into folly'; but Galadriel sends Gwaihir the eagle to get him, returns him to health, updates him on the situation with Boromir, gives him some messages to take to the others, and sends him back on his way.
She is possibly in Lothlórien because of its position of strategic importance: from Unfinished Tales here, she 'saw that Lórien would be a stronghold and point of power to prevent the Shadow from crossing the Anduin in the war that must inevitably come' and that's why she and Celeborn go there. (There are other versions as with almost everything else in Tolkien, but this is one of them.) She's not there to hide away from Events.
2. Calmer than in TROP, but not all-wise and all-sweet and still pretty scary.
She is still tempted by power and world domination: "I do not deny that my heart has greatly desired to ask what you offer [...] In place of the Dark Lord you will set up a Queen. And I shall not be dark, but beautiful and terrible as the morning and the night!"
And, she doesn't just turn down the One Ring because it's abstractly eeeevil. She turns it down because she knows what she, specifically, would do with it. Sam sees a vision of the Shire, and tells her "I wish you'd take his Ring. You'd put things to rights. You'd stop them digging up the Gaffer and turning him adrift. You'd make some folk pay for their dirty work," to which she says that yes, she would: "That is how it would begin. But it would not stop with that, alas! We will not speak more of it."
And saying she wants to rule the world here is not me joking about! This is Tolkien describing that moment in LOTR:
It was not until two long ages more had passed, when at last all that she had desired in her youth came to her hand, the Ring of Power and the dominion of Middle-earth of which she had dreamed, that her wisdom was full-grown and she rejected it
People are scared of her: The only scary moment we directly see is the Ring temptation, but she does other unsettling things. When she meets the Fellowship she tests them by reading their minds and offering something they really want to see if it would make them "turn aside from the road and leave the Quest and the war against Sauron to others." (She offers Sam a garden; the One Ring later on tempts him with the same thing.) Even the hobbits are a bit disturbed by this and Boromir, who's already said he doesn't want to go into Lothlórien because people who do that never leave again, absolutely does not trust her.
Éomer, a few chapters later:
'Then there is a Lady in the Golden Wood, as old tales tell!' he said. 'Few escape her nets, they say. These are strange days! But if you have her favour, then you are also net-weavers and sorcerers, maybe.'
She's scary! She's ancient and powerful and people are scared of her.
3. Married, but not in the character-limiting way the nerdbros want it to be and would have you believe it is.
I am not telling anyone they should ship Galadriel/Celeborn or even find it interesting just because I do, but, the angry nerdbros fancasting Celeborn as Henry Cavill and talking about how he'll come back to tame her and tidy her neatly out of the narrative are writing their own little AU headcanons because that is not what's in the text.
She's the more powerful one. Partly because she's one of the 'High Elves' - she's Noldor and has lived in Valinor seen the light of the Trees - which for various reasons about the way Tolkien's elves work just makes her more powerful, partly because she has a Ring of Power and Celeborn doesn't. It's her Mirror; she's the one reading people's minds; she's the one locked in endless mental battles with Sauron; she's the one the Rohirrim (whose lands border Lothlorien's) tell each other scary stories about. Celeborn at no point ever seems to have an issue with this, and calls her his 'treasure'.
They work together. Even in a big-action-sequences sense: after Sauron's defeat, Celeborn 'led the host of Lorien over Anduin in many boats' to Dol Guldur, where Galadriel 'threw down its walls and laid bare its pits'. But the rest of the time, too: she says of him that 'together through ages of the world we have fought the long defeat'.
You really get the sense that they have been married for a loooooong time. An actual sequence of events in LOTR, somewhat condensed:
The Fellowship reveal there's a Balrog in Moria;
Celeborn goes "!!!!", complains about dwarves waking it up and says he'd never have let Gimli into Lothlorien if he'd known that;
Galadriel smacks Celeborn down for being rude to their guest;
Celeborn apologises to Gimli;
Galadriel tells the Fellowship that Celeborn is accounted the wisest of elves;
Boromir says something about "old wives' tales";
Celeborn, whose wife is one of the oldest beings in Middle-earth, tells Boromir not to be so dismissive because "old wives keep in memory word of things that once were needful for the wise to know";
Galadriel hands Celeborn a drink.
Whatever is going on here is clearly something that works for them, is what I'm saying! And you don't have to find their marriage interesting just because I do, of course; but what it's not is some trad fantasy of domestic subservient-wife anything.
So where her TROP story ends up is ultimately with LOTR Galadriel: powerful, important, tempted to rule the world, a bit calmer than in TROP, a bit happier than in TROP, co-ordinating big strategic efforts in the war, married to someone who's got her back and adores her and they fall out a bit sometimes but generally work pretty well together, and still having Sauron constantly trying to get into her head. I am fine with this! I am more than fine with this.

Conrad Veidt (The Cabinet of Dr Caligari, The Man Who Laughs)— oh my god look at him in Caligari. I specifically said that he's from this because him as Cesare is just. MMMMM. he's so wet and sad and scrungly. and little. he's like a kitten left alone in a dark alley except he's also killed people (not his fault). something wrong with him (Cesare). as for Conrad himself. oh my god look at him... them big ole eyes and the walk of some fucking thing creature
Phil Silvers (Summer Stock)—this man has the single most expressive face in all of golden age hollywood (okay maybe second only to Donald O'Connor) and he is such a Perfect counterpart to Gene Kelly in Summer Stock. like, little baby queer lady me had such a soft spot for the funky little comic relief guys and he's the king of them all! his verse in "Dig For Your Dinner" [link] makes me laugh uncontrollably and every time i watch it, my brain plays "YOU GOTTA SEE YOUR DENTIST TWICE A YEAR" on loop for a solid week afterwards
This is round 1 of the contest. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. If you're confused on what a scrungle is, or any of the rules of the contest, click here.
[additional submitted propaganda + scrungly videos under the cut]
Conrad Veidt:

I mean just look at him. The wet cat energy. The ghostly eyes. He did the monster mash before anybody. Where would we be today without him, he even has one (1) song on spotify. I regularly forget he's dead and wonder what his next movie will be. He slays in any role. The Ultimate Skrunkle.
He's the ultimate scrungly to me, the basis for many of our scrungly guys today. he's so skinny and pale and he wears so much eye makeup
He was THE bisexual goth tumblr sexyman of early film. Seriously the old timey Tumblrinas would send him fanmail about wanting him to choke them. He inspired the designs for the Joker and Jafar,and was nicknamed the “Demon of the Silver Screen” for his horror roles. His first wife divorced him for crossdressing. Hitler sent him hate mail for speaking out about antisemitism. He really loved his wife and told the Germans to go fuck themselves when they threatened his job if he didn’t divorce her for being Jewish. Just look at me and tell me this guy isn’t scrungly he’s like a personification of the emo kid from Horton hears a who
[cw the below clip depicts assault/abduction and could be scary for some viewers]

Phil Silvers:

I need more teams like the modern Outsiders with whom Cass is their first real time working with a bat that's not Bruce. So they logically assume that all the bats are just Like That. The creepy cryptid antisocial aspect is part of what makes them family. Duke has powers and works during the day he's obviously the exception to the rule, which is why Bruce puts him on the team too. It's great that the quiet antisocial bats have someone they're comfortable relying on for translating their grunts and grim cryptic mutterings!
Only then they meet Nightwing, who's just as cheerful and talkative as the Signal. And Red Robin who seems downright friendly. Even Robin, he has a bit of a sarcastic bite to him for sure but he's loud about it. And the purple Batgirl? She's so down to earth they have a conversation about bus ticket prices in Gotham and how inflation is getting worse.
So then what's the deal with the scary Batgirl? If they don't need to be all grim and grunty like the boss to be a part of the team, then why does she imitate the big bat so much?
"Imitate? No she's just like that."
In the end it's the Signal who explains it clearly:
"We've all got the Robin type of autism. She got the Bat variant."

Phill needs to be strapped to a chair. They need to duct tape a glass jar to him with a couple of rats inside. Then blow torch the jar so the rats don’t have any other option than to chew there way out threw him.
The way you write him makes me hate him so much. That’s just because you’re a good writer and you can manipulate (is that even right?) my emotions to feel that way. Your Phil is so disgusting and vile. I hate him so much. I am so glad that it’s not this reality for ‘mega. I could never imagine reading a story like that.
‘Mega never having the freedoms that she has with the 141. You know what I mean by freedoms right? ‘Mega would never get to choose under Phil’s rule. He would shut that crap down as soon as possible and I can’t bear to think what he would do. He would be the type of person to have that fakeness to him. Pretending to smile while deep down he’s threatening you.
It’s more scary when someone does that. Having that undertone to something that they said in a what you assume is a friendly matter. Ugh no thanks. My autism radar would be off the charts.
I don’t know if I read this correctly in the main fic but I’m assuming they think graves is dead?? Like in the reboot series when soap blew up the tank. I’m going to just go with that because I’m pretty sure it wasn’t explicitly said he was dead. I know Shepard is still alive in your fic. Are you going to have John kill him like in MW3?? That would be badass. Finally getting his revenge for hurting ‘mega (instead of getting revenge for everything and soaps death. Rip soap).
This is getting really long.
Anyways how are you? I hope everything is going alright. Just posted my second short story on tumblr ☺️
He deserves that kind of torture in this fic honestly. He is not a good person anyway but he's extra just...icky in this one. I can't not see him that way so...very sorry to the Graves lovers out there. I just can't see him as anything but a yeehaw Texas republican man.
I don't think Graves would be a bad alpha per se, but it would feel a lot like a kind of trad wife situation (which it is). 'Mega is there to keep the image of a perfect house and life and family and have kids and take care of them and the house and the chores. Zero agency, zero choice in anything. Not necessarily abusive, but constantly reminding others of where they stand beneath him in that silent, threatening way.
As far as Graves in the fic....

It's been a lifetime since I've used this gif I've missed it 😂
I'm doing alright, all things considered. Busy busy busy, but busy is good. Makes time go by faster.

I remember going through a very well done Haunted House with a friend but a lot of the 'scares' were supposed to be sound based- one in this instance you were supposed to read some writing on the wall for the way out and a Big Chainsaw Guy comes out of nowhere to scare and chase you aaaah but Im deaf so I legit stood there trying to read fake blood on a piece of particle board 'wall' to figure the way out when the Chainsaw Guy came out and scared my friend but I didnt hear them. What ensued from what I gather is some Scooby Doo levels of silliness of this guy in a fake pig head with a chainsaw just staring at me confused as I stared at a wall while my friend took off and left me for dead. Real Velma level hijinks
Anyway I havent done one since but this still comes to mind every year

I think Asbestos is “gender” in the way that I really want her outfit and especially her coat with the hazard yellow, hazard risk text, and hazard symbols, and that I want her big slimy prehensile tail. Also maybe the cursed eye and fire magic. The woman herself, although attractive, is way too skinny and way too short for me to even think about in that way. not that you should be looking by to anime girls for your gender ideals in the first place.
But man that outfit and tail….

q!bbh vs q!elquackity is scary because isnt actually q!bbh vs q!elquackity. elq himself cant do shit to bad. most players cant do shit to bad. its bbh vs the federation, because the only way elq can get past bads insane defenses and numerous advantages is with the help of the entity that runs the island. recent events have only made that significantly more clear. the worry isnt how far elq will go, its how far the federation will support him in it

Ok but thinking back to how I was in elementary and middle school: I had such disdain for other kids who broke the rules, that I irrationally hated a whole bunch of kids — kids I would have made good friends with — all because I couldn’t stand the fact that they engaged in conflicts with, and affronts to authority figures or standards.
It even went as far as internally mocking a kid my age — calling him “Mama’s Boy” in my head — over the fact that his mother whispered comments into his ear, which he mumbled unintelligibly into the mic, and then would fall asleep as if dead on her arm. I perceived his inability to give comments on his own, and his sleeping, as moral failings of both mother and child; because I wasn’t raised like that. And maybe, those feelings also came from jealousy. I was expected to fight off sleep all the time because I could read at a college level in third grade, and could theoretically understand the material presented at the meetings despite it still being inappropriate for my age group.
I was so far deep into the “bad associations spoil useful habits” mindset that it made me hate my fellow neurodivergents — kids I would have been friends with — who maybe couldn’t hide it as well as I could. That is beyond fucked up. Now, I work with those very kids I disliked so much as a child, and guess what? They are my absolute favorite people to be around; and many of them remind me of myself.
#exjw#ableism tw#I’m also just very uptight about rules anyway; so the whole cult thing did not help that part of me At All#I often find myself more concerned with doing things “correctly” than I am with doing the right thing in non-serious scenarios#and it’s kind of scary because like… how much of a sheep am I?#Would I torture someone if an authority figure I trusted ordered me to because it’s what I’m “supposed” to do?#Most of it comes from a desire for consistency: If [x] happens; then do [y]. So every time [x] happens; [y] is the correct response#and this — like the laws of physics — Cannot Change#Except of course the real world is vague and variable and there is a lot of grey area to work with in coming up with solutions#so doing [y] when [x] happens may make things worse than if you do [z] instead#This makes a lot more sense when you consider I was taught how to play chess at a very young age by my father#who bragged about being a “chess player” with regard to real world problems#Yes chess is strategy; but you’re also playing on a grid and your movements are entirely restricted by the rules of gameplay#My father can’t leave the cult that traumatized him because he loves Jehovah#he can’t go to the meetings to serve the god he loves because it triggers his trauma#he can’t talk to a therapist about his religious trauma to get over it because he would be defaming Jehovah#If life is a game of chess then he’s checkmated#But here’s the thing: the game is imaginary and the rules are made up#Viewing real life as a chess board is extremely unhealthy for your free will#Which is why in this essay about Nineteen Eighty Four I will—

There’s a real paranormal attraction near me open at night!!! :D
…but everything is done in such a tourist-attracting way that the whole business appears to hinge upon sensationalized exploitation of the mentally ill >:(
#Like ooooh it’s spooky#No it’s not spooky; it’s appalling. So-called “doctors” did unspeakable things to the mentally disabled people under their care#Like sure if something is haunted; it’s haunted and should be investigated for science… like whatever#But I have a problem when the whole “asylum” thing is presented as a frightfully whispered word for an aesthetic backdrop#Like ooooooohhhhhh insane people they’re craaaazzzzyyyyyyy and are going to kiiillll yooouuuuuu shut the fuck up#Yeah hospitals in general are haunted.#But the only reason this one is getting so much traffic is because mental hospitals are so stigmatized#So of course people want to see the fucking freak show they advertise it as#In a place where the “scary” people (who are dead and therefore cannot defend themselves) were likely abused by actual monsters#And might I add it’s kind of gross that this place presents itself as a museum exploring the place’s history#when at the same time they have a scare attraction based upon the asylum WITHIN THE SAME WALLS#Rule number one to historical presentation is to present sensitive topics with sensitivity#and not to sensationalize details for shock value#Present the facts. Be respectful. I want to slap the staff.#And because everything is so sensationalized I have to question the validity of how haunted the place actually is#Because they clearly want to give people a show#Do they have the place rigged with EMF generators and hidden magnets so that people are guaranteed “””activity””””#Because they advertise on their website that they have state of the art scare technology for the fake haunted house part#Like hm… how far does that technology extend?#I don’t buy it.#like will these people buy the autism school if it closes down and do the same thing to it because oooooohhhh crazy ghosts#[inhales very deeply] GHOSTS ARE PEOPLE AND DESERVE TO BE TREATED WITH DIGNITY#AND IF GHOSTS DON’T EXIST THEN YOU ARE STILL HARMING REAL PEOPLE BY STIGMATIZING MENTAL ILLNESS#“Haunted jewel of the state” my ASS#This parapro gives two middle fingers and two middle toes to this beloved paranormal attraction
