“We can’t sell a plushie of any of that!”
I’ll be honest I don’t think there’s anything in this world I would buy FASTER than the stuffed version of a supercomputer wired up to a severed dog head

“When toxic behavior is portrayed as romantic, it’s problematic. When problematic behavior is portrayed as a character flaw for a character to work through, it’s good storytelling.”
Katsuki Bakugou, my friends.
His behavior was problematic but never once portrayed as romantic at the same time. Katsuki said and did awful abusive things, and he also chose to be better when he was given the chance. If you’re still hung up on chapter 1 Katsuki now then I don’t think you’ve been reading the same story I have.
I can’t speak for everyone, but I’m not shipping Izuku with an irredeemable abuser. I’m shipping him with his most important person. His narrative foil. His childhood friend who made awful mistakes and then made it right when he saw he was wrong. The person Izuku looks up to and strives to emulate, despite their past struggles.
Bakudeku is so good because of how flawed these boys are, and how hard they’ve worked to get over it, and how much they matter to each other after it all

Did you know there are three different instances of Homura slapping someone so they could get their shit together? Yeah, I'll show it to you.
1. Madoka Magica Portable - Madoka
Tumblr media
After Homura invades her bedroom again (don't let it bother you), Madoka rambles into a self-deprecatory spiral until Homura snaps her out of it by slapping her. Homura argues by saying despite her negative traits, that's what makes her a cute magical girl. For Madoka, that's not a compliment.
2. The Different Story - Mami
Tumblr media
Mami believes she’s undeserving of living because she is selfish and drops the act of being a heroine of justice. When Homura asks her if she wants to die, Mami basically sees a strand of hope of receiving her rightful punishment. Homura thinks otherwise, slaps her and tells her to get her shit together and keep living on.
3. Scene0 - Mabayu
Tumblr media
Same as usual, Mabayu undermines herself as a fool for believing she could be friends with Sayaka, when, in reality, she was manipulating her heart to her advantage (even though she meant well). Homura slaps her and tells Mabayu that no matter what she does, time will restart anyways so she must not fall into despair because if she does, Homura will never forgive Mabayu for leaving her alone.
She's aggressively caring lol

oh, and you know what else?
ned going, "what happened to you? what happened? you used to be a killer. but now you're just a washed-up, low-born, dirtbag" to ed?
like okay, that of course kicked stede's protectiveness into high-gear. because he himself has had to endure years and years and YEARS of being talked down to, so you can be DAMN sure no one's going to do so to his beloved.
but once again, ONCE AGAIN, it was another phantom, another notch in the "you defile beautiful things" belt. it's just another bit reinforcement to stede that he was the one to "happen" to ed. that his true self, his personality, his softness, he...was what happened to ed.
that he "brought history's greatest pirate to ruin."
so, not only did ned insult his beloved, but struck that same, terrible (and entirely untrue) chord. it was like a string really, a string that had been pulled so SO tight with no chance to relax, no chance to fix itself.
and what happens when a string is pulled put under that much tension for so long?
it snaps.

"that you could be so cruel" ok correct me if i'm wrong but does penelope featherington not run a gossip rag that exist solely to publish unsubstantiated rumors about women she doesn't like for various reasons that have profoundly negative repercussions on those women (didn't the publication of marina's pregnancy lead to marina almost dying in her quest to terminate said pregnancy??????) and has in fact used that same rag to put not just colin's entire family but also specifically colin's sister, her best friend, through a significant amount of grief and strife that came as a direct result of that rag?
but colin's the cruel one? because she happened to eavesdrop on a conversation where he said he doesn't wanna date her? that's cruelty but all the other stuff isn't?

There's something to be said about Heaven Sent/Hell Bent, despite the Doctor overthrowing the Time Lord Council and spending four and a half billion years in the confession dial and him and Clara and Me meeting at the end of universe, therefore technically spanning the longest time span, being fundamentally the smallest in stakes of any of the modern Doctor Who finales. At the end of the day, there is no threat to earth or the galaxy or the universe or reality. It's just about two people and the way that they turn each other inside out and the way that they reflect each other as two sides of the same coin and the way their relationship was always going to end this way- with the flip of the coin, spinning in the air, each trying to override the other, each trying to take control of the story, each haunting each other forever.
It's under my microscope. It's rotating rent free in my head. It's everything good about Moffat's writing- fairytale vibes, wrenching character work, two characters that thematically parallel each other- and none of the bad, because he's not trying to be too clever or fuck with the rules too much, there's a couple of simple concepts played straight to their inevitable conclusions: Clara Oswald needs to die but the Doctor can't let it happen, he wants her to forget but she can't let it happen, so they both will do the most devasting things in the world to stop the other and they both get their way in the end but only in a way that will leave them haunting each other forever.
And it's so fucking good.
