“I need you to tell me that you love me” will forever be the line that haunts me most from House MD. Like, it was without a shadow of a doubt in my mind a love confession, or at least as close to one as we were ever going to get with this two. A sort of acknowledgment of the feelings that are there and that have been there, the feelings they both tried so hard to ignore all these years. But not only is that crazy enough by itself, Wilson asks House to say it. House, who throughout the whole show is known to struggle with expressing difficult emotions. Because Wilson is dying, and he is pleading for House to let him be the weak one for once.

And House says no, because he doesn’t want to open that door, those hopes and terrifying possibilities, if it’s all going to end before he can enjoy it. He can’t handle having everything he’s wanted and then losing it so quickly. He’s only willing to love Wilson if Wilson is there to stay. I hate them so much.
