I think the twins had the potential to be the best borderlands antagonists if they were handled properly. Like if gearbox pulled more from reality it could have been a really interesting concept about parasocial relationships, the dangers of blurring the lines between online and reality, and how idolization can turn someone into a faux god

My post about Anya is making like a little ruckus on Twitter and I think it’s crazy how many people like have a problem with it.

Like you don’t have to agree with how I characterize Anya and her actions but it’s more like, why are you focused on only one aspect of her character? Why are you removing nuance from the situation? I don’t see it as giving Curly the benefit of the doubt when it comes to doing better for Anya, but as exploring his character and hers relationship with a the very little authentic facts we get about them. In truth, there’s a lot more I wish Curly did, even if it wasn’t pragmatic but I realize the issue there.

The first psychological horror game in a while that’s real intricate in its storytelling and makes you need to really need to address the morality of intentions and its already getting torn asunder smh 😔

#I don’t know if it’s the case of people who hate curly and think he should’ve just killed Jimmy won’t accept anything else #but I really am trying to get the idea that they were stuck for over a year in space together on a ship barely kept together with wildly #different and conflicting personalities who also got more hostile because they know they are going home to unemployment #it sounds heartless to say and he should have prioritized her more but in his head that’s not the only thing he has to manage and he has to #fit the necessary actions to take in his head with all that including his perception of them as a friend vs as a boss #idk I just don’t believe Curly was comforting Jimmy with the intent of helping him get rid of Anya. he wanted to help both of them he went #about it horribly like the game is literally about realizing how misguided you can be and that responsibility #and how to be responsible look different even if there are better options like it’s just weird just block my ass dawg #also I think the argument of how could the situation be worse if he stopped Jimmy is stupid cause it’s under the guise that Curly would #assume someone he trusted would just try and commit murder suicide or he’d get degloved and all his crew directly #or indirectly killed by that friend like sorry if that’s a reach statement like adding #your supplementary thoughts is how analysis is born but adding facts about events we don’t know happened and treating them like character #truths is lame is a cop out from actually engaging with parts of the story that adds grey areas to characters you wants to see in black #this is just a stupid like thing to me but it makes me sad cause I don’t even hate seeing depictions of Curly as more aware and #accommodating to Jimmy purposely but I need you to understand he thought he was doing the right thing for both his friends and his closest #friend but the key point is he thought he was doing right for both of them like what game were we both watching???#mouthwashing #like just block me pls like Anya would not share ur mindset or hold ur hand like do more than just pity her if you like her so much

#I have an assignment that was due a week ago and I really really dont want to do it. I have to but i dont want to #im probably making it worse because my brain has built a wall around it so now i can’t do literally anything else until thats done. but #because I don’t want to do it I’m just kinda stuck. turns out this is what they meant when they said emotional regulation is part of #exec dysfunction.. I’ll have a thought like if I get a little bit of it done now i can get it over with. my fellow anxiety havers what is one of your mundane day-to-day tasks that should by no means be anything remarkable but feels like you are being hunted for sport. i’ll go first: putting all of your groceries on the conveyor belt during checkout is like a long series of quick time events to me

#marzi speaks #it’s bc like. you have a cart Full of groceries #there is a cashier looking to scan the groceries #there is (often) a bagger looking to bag the groceries and put them back in your cart #goal: get as many groceries onto that belt as fast as possible #REMEMBER: heaviest items go first so that nothing gets crushed when the bagger puts the groceries back in your cart #it is so stressful. move so fast ‘which of these items is gonna be heavier’ getting to the end and realizing you missed like 3 cans…#it’s even worse if there are ppl behind you. i live in texas so i can at least make socially acceptable conversation with the cashier #EXCEPT i’m already way overthinking the conveyor belt situation. i’m already frazzled #and now i gotta do small talk? oh god #on the bright side i am so fast at it it’s insane. i move faster than the cashier can keep up with #which is A Good Thing. bc that means i am at max efficiency #but like. just watched the borderlands movie and the only good part was that krieg’s little harness thingo lowkey looked like a very skimpy little bra thing sometimes

#it wasn’t AS bad as I thought it would be #but it was not good #at all #idk why they changed so much of the story and just like Made It Worse #why did they make Tina’s dad head of atlas? why not just keep her parents killed off? why did they mischaracterise her so badly?#why was she annoying? why was she an experiment? why not use a more compelling villain than Guy Who Looks And Acts As Bland As Possible #the villain was simply. no good #I wish they used jack 😔#I also wish they didn’t do the Lilith’s mum subplot bc it was a little off??? somehow?#and Tannis and Lilith’s relationship wasn’t particularly fulfilling #claptrap was even more annoying #the jokes weren’t funny #the sfx were NOT as bad as everyone said they were I’m sorry I thought they were fine aside from a few weird shots in some chase sequences #another thing I don’t get that much was ppl hating Lilith’s hair bc it’s doesn’t look like in the games #ppl compared the wig to wigs that cosplayers use that look rly accurate and good but #u have to take into account #that it’s rly hard to stylise a live action movie to look something like boarderlands and most cosplays are made to look good statically #things that look good in cosplay and in the game will not look good in a live action action sequences #like if u gave her a cosplay wig it would look great and accurate but it also would be completely rigged in the wind and would not move #like real hair #which would probably be incredibly jarring to see in a live action film especially with all the action #was the hair great? no. I still think it could’ve been vastly improved on while remaining realistic for a live action movie #but I think some people hold it to unrealistic standards in their criticisms or whatever #also costumes have to be actually movable and breathable bc REAL people are shooting REAL scenes and doing stunts and shit in them #but. yeah. the costumes could definitely have had some improvement #I think that if u wanted to make a borderlands film that was accurate to the design of the characters it would be easier to do it animated #and the writing?#we do not speak about the writing good lord #borderlands movie #borderlands
