Sometimes, I start writing a new chapter and I have a nice tidy breakdown of all the major narrative beats/character growth moments and maybe even some bits of dialogue or description that occur in said chapter. And sometimes I just have this:

p204 ミルイヒが去ったことで、クナン地方からも二千の兵が集まった。 Having successfully driven off Milich, two thousand additional troops from the Kunan region also joined them.

先の戦いで失った兵も補充でき、解放軍の士気はいやが上にも高まった。 They were able to replace the soldiers they had lost in the previous battle, which boosted everyone’s morale considerably.

新しく加わった仲間や、城内を忙しく行き来する兵とすれ違うたびに、今時の勢いはこちらにあるとティルは思うのだった。 Whenever he met one of their new comrades busily coming and going inside the castle, Tir was always amazed at how much energy they had.

ティルたちがゴウラン地方に向けて船を出した時、トラン湖には強風が吹き荒れていた。 Strong winds raged over Toran Lake when Tir and the others launched their boats bound for the Goran region.

北と南の湖水の温度差によって生まれる冬特有の季節風だと、タイ・ホーは説明した。 Tai Ho explained that this was typical of the winds in winter, born as the drastically different temperatures from the north and south met over the lake.

波は荒いが風は追い風て、解放軍を乗せた船はみるみるゴウラン地方の湖畔に進んていった。 The waves were rough, but the wind gave their ships a strong tailwind, and the Liberation Army approached the Goran region at a brisk pace.

舳先で風に吹かれながらティルはふと思う。そんなに、急がなくてもいいのにーー。 While the wind whipped around the bow of the boat, Tir suddenly had the thought—we don’t need to be in that much of a hurry…

とその時、ティルの右腕を激痛が襲った。 At that moment, a sharp pain shot through his right arm.

手の甲から肩にかけて感覚がなくなり、肩には腕がもがれるような痛みが走った。 He lost all feeling from the back of his hand up to his shoulder, then he felt a wrenching pain in his shoulder as if his arm had just been twisted.

「ぐっ……」ティルは肩を押さえ込み、船縁にうずくまった。 Tir grunted in pain and clapped his other hand to his shoulder, hunched doubled over down on the floor of the boat.

「ティル様！どうしました？」慌ててクレオが駆け寄った。 “Lord Tir!” cried Cleo and rushed to his side. “What’s wrong?”

ティルは呼吸を荒げて痛みと戦っていたが、しばらくすると痛みは消えた。 Tir’s breathing grew ragged as he fought the pain, but it gradually began to subside.

大きく息を吐いて立ち上がり、ティルが言う。 Taking a deep breath, he stood back up.

P205 「いや…、なんでもないよ。根の修行のしすぎじゃないかな…」 “It’s nothing,” he murmured. “Probably just overdid it a little with the training.”

しかしクレオは、心配そうな顔つきだった。 Worry still creased Cleo’s features.

「そうてすか……。大事なお身体で���から、あまり無理はなさらないように」 “Is that what it was? Don’t push yourself so hard you ruin your health, Lord Tir.”

「わかっている……」 “I know. Thank you, Cleo.”

ティルの胸には、得も言われぬ胸騒ぎが残っていた。 But a deep unease still rooted itself in his heart.

いつか感じた胸騒ぎ。カクの町で感じたのとそれは、まったく同じだった。 It was the same sense of dread and foreboding he had felt in Kaku.

しかし、前と違うことがひとつだけあった。 Only one element differed.

右手の甲に、未だに焼けるような痛みが残っていた。 The searing pain in his right hand still remained, as if his hand were aflame.

革手袋て隠してあるが、そこにはテッドから受け継いだ真の紋章、ソウルイーターがあった。 Though it was hidden by the glove he wore, that was the hand that bore the Soul Eater rune he had inherited from Ted.

「ティル様、着きましたぜ！！」船尾からあがったタイ・ホーの声にティルが顔を上げると、船は湖畔の砂浜に乗り上げようとしているところだった。 Tai Ho turned to Tir from the stern of the ship and shouted as the boat ran up against the sandy shore.

“Lord Tir, we’ve arrived!”

ティルは手の甲の痛みが気になったが、上陸の準備に取りかかっているうちに忘れてしまった。 The pain in the Tir’s hand still bothered him, but their preparations to disembark pushed it from his thoughts.

兵たちの乗った船が次々と砂浜に乗り上げる。 The boats carrying the soldiers arrived one by one.

ある者は馬を下ろし、ある者は火炎槍を運び出しはじめた。 Some unloaded the horses while others began offloading the fire spears.

砂浜と草原の間には森が茂っているのて、まだテオの軍の様子を見ることはできなかった。 The dense forest between the sandy shore and the fields blocked their view, so they couldn’t see what state Teo’s forces were in just yet.

しかしマッシュが出した偵察によれば、テオは草原の後方に軍を下げ、解放軍の上陸を待っているということだった。 However, according to the scouts Mathiu had sent ahead, Teo had deployed his men at the far end of the field, waiting for the Liberation Army to come ashore.

I would like to give a shout out to the gullible folks. The people who were lied to with some ridiculous story by an abuser and taken advantage of. People who can't describe their situation to others bc they know it sounds crazy, but they have fallen too deep to escape.

You aren't dumb. You're so trusting and so full of love. It is not your fault others take advantage. There are people out there that will not lie to you like others have. Your trauma is valid even if the lies you were told were so outlandish people laugh when you try to explain the terror you lived through.

Don't stop loving. Don't stop trusting. Just... Learn how to be more selective with your trust. Because not all have pure intentions for you.

what is the theory that ivan manipulated the event where till and mizi met the wagyein?

It's not a theory, actually! It's confirmed that Ivan orchestrated the whole event. The true reason as to why however is still unknown. The information provides more context to this scene, though:

During the earlier times of ALNST the most rational explanation for this scene was that Till ran after a flower crown (presumably Mizi's) and Ivan followed him in out of curiosity. Now we know that Ivan was conveniently just standing there because he was waiting.

Side note, I find it heartbreaking (and maybe a little funny, sorry) that Till most likely didn't notice Ivan in this scene. That's just like him, isn't it. Always too busy running after Mizi while Ivan trails behind, an ever-present shadow.

I'm not sure how Ivan manipulated the circumstances for both of them to end up there, but it is confirmed that everything was intentional. What strikes me most is how they describe this particular scene:

I can't copy down what they said word-for-word (Patreon info), but they described Ivan watching "creepily" as Till and Mizi are faced with danger. We know that Ivan was familiar with the Cerberus wagyein beforehand, enough to touch its teeth and even to rest himself inside its maw. To Ivan, the wagyein is not dangerous, but to Till and Mizi, it could be. Ivan prepared the wagyein, led them there, and watched "creepily" from afar as Till fell on his knees, seemingly injured.

The closest I can get to making sense of Ivan's "scheme" is that he wanted to see how other children would react in a dangerous situation. Ivan's always been an observer, after all, and he's learned to survive by copying the more "normal" behaviors of his peers. This situation occured when Ivan was still young and had not yet developed his more charming mask, so perhaps he staged this encounter to study a situational response, to learn and mimic the emotion of fear. And what better subjects for the experiment than two of the most expressive and reactive humans of their batch? It helps that he was already fixated on Till beforehand, too. I think Ivan became irreversibly obssessed after this incident, especially since it's framed as a turning point in Ivan's life, comparing Till to the stars.

This is just my attempt at an interpretation, though. It could very well be for another reason. He most likely chose Till and Mizi specifically for personal reasons, not just for reaction. I'm still not sure on the purpose behind the whole thing.

The team wanted to capture Ivan's "dark emotions" through the shot of his stalking, which could relate to his more sinister intentions. His gaze can be read in a few different ways, though. Curiosity, interest, fear, etc. Maybe that's why they decided to redraw the shot in ROUND 6.

I think this better sells the feeling they were trying to convey.

ho-ly shit, this actually got finished. this was so much work for something that is so incredibly niche, but im so happy with it. this was SO MUCH FUN to come up with, to think of songs for each card, to slip in silly references and make my little border designs... thank you so much everyone else who has been enjoying these posts!
