Paralympic swimmer Barbara Gordon is an idea I hold very close to my heart. The way she'd find water as recovering, maybe she swam when younger. Was swimmer in highschool, used to pull her hair into swim caps, and go throw swimsuits much to fast.

So while trying to find something to hold on in the aftermath on her injury and there it is. She gets help, learning to adjust. To pull her self through the water again, new prescription goggles helping her along the way. It's hard, learning to swim after an injury. Even a broken arm takes recovery it gets it moving properly in the water. But she keeps going, runs tech at night, swims early in the morning.

She never thought swimming would mean much to her, not like this. But than there she is is. Transferring into the pool, a team USA cap on her head, and swims. Her arms pulling her through the water to victory.

I watched a seminar about scientific diving and got so excited and passionate and interested..and then my heart sank.

Ill never be able to do that will I?

Sure I may be able to do one diving trip once in a while, but to have it be my job, well its the same issue as doing surveys on land.

I feel so jealous of people who get to go and do those types of things. Who are living my dreams...with their strong and painless bodies. I'll always be stuck behind a screen, not doing what I'm most passionate about. Weighed down by pain and brain fog. I'll always be 10 steps behind everyone, no matter how hard I try. And like one diver said, they only take the best.

I’m on mobile I can’t add this to my reblogs. Do you see this shit. Anyways this map calculates stuff assuming that you’re traveling at a constant speed (and on the current world) so the entire round trip is approximately 4 years but I’m imagining that aside from that stretch riding the current across the southern ocean there’s going to be frequent stops and they’re not going to be moving constantly so I could definitely stretch the reasonable travel time by more than that. Just one of the major Salmonid migration routes I was thinking could exist. This is not the one that comes by þ squidcountry
