Henry’s been long-conning William for a while. Commissioning the video games was the final cherry on top at the end of a years of constructing a paper trail. (Also, the movie isn’t canon and doesn’t get made in this AU, though Henry probably tried.)

essentially jasper is now the co-leader of the society who was bitten by a werewolf and is trying to hide it, jekyll is the uni student who got kicked out due to his experiments and then picked up off the streets, etc. jasper and rachel can’t communicate and jekyll and lanyon are living the world’s weirdest horror romcom you’ve ever seen. more info under cut hehe (feat. bad explanations and doodles)

in simpler terms, jekyll and lanyon swap narrative positions (?? is that the right term) with jasper and rachel respectively. (lanyons and rachels swap doesn’t technically work as well as Jekyll’s and jaspers does but shhhhh). Frankenstein becomes the mad scientist that attacks the society and moreau becomes jaspers idol.

longer explanation but WARNING!! it is 3am when i am typing this and i am terrible at explaining. it may be slightly incomprehensible.

so like jasper and rachel founded the society after jasper publishes his research and gets semi famous. two years before current events jasper is out on a research venture and gets bitten by a werewolf. he doesn’t want to scare rachel or the lodgers so he keeps it a secret (to his own detriment). flash forward to now and jasper gets a call to investigate a “creature” terrorizing the streets of london only to find hyde.

before jasper can process the dumpster man he is looking at hyde transforms back into jekyll. jekyll explains that while trying to prove his theory of spiritual alchemy at his university he may or may not have split his own soul. and got kicked out. and is now living on the streets.

jasper, not really knowing what else to do and kinda relating to the poor guy, takes him back to the society. he introduces his co-leader rachel, who pretty much keeps this entire thing up and running. (rachel and jekyll still become friends but she especially takes to hyde. that little brother shaped hole in her heart is still very much present!) then theres the lodgers (idk how they all swap) and then there’s lanyon, a university student at the society because it was mandatory for one of his courses. he is not enjoying it and would very much rather be breaking boy’s hearts back at school. lucky for him tho, there’s jekyll!

this goes about as well as you would expect. lanyon then spends the rest of his stay at the society trying to understand (and woo) the conundrum that is jekyll and hyde. it’s very fluffy and they learn to communicate like jasper and rachel in canon (yippee!)

unfortunately for jasper and rachel, they have been playing the “just friends” game for the last decade. im having a bit of trouble trying to flesh out swap rachel so i don’t really know if she’s in a lavender marriage like canon lanyon is or is estranged/divorced or just single but whatever the case is she likes jasper but thinks he just sees her as a friend while jasper is madly in love with her and is too scared to tell her. this problem has only worsened since jasper got bitten. everyone else tho is aware of how they feel about each other and are stuck witnessing their tortuously long slow burn.

(hyde and lanyon at some point probably come up with a scheme to try and get them to confess. it goes horribly wrong.)

so yeah. this au has been floating around in my head ever since i read the comic for the first time. it mainly came to be because of how well jasper and jekyll parallel each other and because i wanted to draw stupid fluff and older jasper lol.

if anyone has any ideas/questions/etc TELL ME!!!!! this is just a rough idea if you have a better concept go for it awhdvgevd

People underestimate how much of an unreliable narrator every single character in J&H was. In my eyes J&H is less about purely “Good verses Evil” and moreso about like. “Repression verses Unrestraint.” Is it better to bottle it up and be who you must for others, or is it worth it to withstand every emotion you stored up just to be free, even when it harms others?

There’s a lot less of this on tumblr but like. I still see it.

SOME STICK-SWAP IDEAS IVE HAD BUZZING IN MY HEAD FOR A LITTLE WHILE!

I've always thought about how fun it'd be to do a personality swap with my favorite trio, and originally it was JUST going to be that. "Dave's meaner" or "Johnny's more timid.", but the more I thought about it, the more I thought about how their personality shifts wouldn't just affect their relationships with each other, but their careers and futures as well.

RAMBLES ABOUT THE SWAPS BELOW vvvv

ON THE LEFT!

Rupert w/ Dave's personality, AKA 'Rupy' : After the incident at West Mesa with Henry Stickmin, Rupert couldn't take the stress of possibly messing up AGAIN, so he left his job as an officer and moved elsewhere. He ended up becoming a tour guide at the National Museum of History & Culture! He keeps to himself, always stays informed of the latest exhibits, and whenever he's in charge of checking bags and other sticks' belongings, he gets ON IT. He does NOT want another Henry-Incident to occur.

Johnny Panzer w/ Rupert's personality: Johnny decided to follow his father's footsteps. He joined the military and became an expert at creating & using the government's latest tech. He's considered one of the best sticks on their team, only being overshadowed by his father. He spends most of his time on base and tries to be on his own as much as possible, and whenever he's home, he prefers to stay in his room. He doesn't seem to enjoy the company of anyone else.

Dave w/ Johnny's personality: After he lost his job, he bounced right back and became a security guard at the museum! Only to be fired from that. So he ended up working as a barista! Then he got fired from that as well. Dave tried time and time again to get a job that'd really 'stick' with him, but when he kept getting fired, he chose not to dwell on it, but instead follow life's weird flow and bounce from job to job instead. He works all sorts of odd jobs with even odder hours, he probably gets into the most shenanigans out of the three, but he isn't all that bothered by it. He doesn't talk about them much either, as Rupy worries too much, and Johnny doesn't care.

ON THE RIGHT:

Rupert w/ Johnny's personality: He stayed in West Mesa after the incident. He decided he didn't want to deal with prisoners as much any more, and instead chose to help more with 'professional' matters such as scheduling and hosting meetings, checking both police and prisoners' belongings, organizing files, and a lot of other work that requires him to sit in front of a computer. He keeps tracks of any mistakes, shortcomings, or attempted outbreaks/escapes. He doesn't bring up the Henry Stickmin incident, he insists he doesn't care about it anymore, but anytime anyone ELSE mentions it, he noticeably tenses.

Johnny w/ Dave's personality: Johnny couldn't handle life as an officer for too long. He felt he didn't belong. He doesn't know WHERE he belongs and he's afraid to find out. He lives with Rupert & Dave and barely leaves the apartment. The thought of being out for too long on his own terrifies him and he doesn't understand why. Despite Rupert's constant reassurance that he likes having Johnny around, Johnny can't help but feel he's dead weight and tries to make up for it by cooking delicious meals for his friends, constantly cleaning around the apartment, and helping with whatever work they bring home.

Dave w/ Rupert's personality: He hated himself for what happened at West Mesa. When he got fired, he knew it was deserved, and it only fueled that anger further. He wanted to make sure nothing--that no ONE--ever slipped by his eyes again, so he started off as a security guard, then he'd be hired as a bouncer at big named clubs and casinos [the front of his hat has the word 'BOUNCER' on it!], then eventually, he'd start getting hired as an enforcer for influential sticks. He takes pride in his job, he isn't afraid to flaunt his success because he knows he's earned it. There's always going to be a part of him that looks down on Rupert, not just for staying behind at West Mesa, but for putting more effort into being observational and careful AFTER Henry Stickmin had broken out.

I think no matter what, the trio would still end up living together and try to survive. And of course. They would butt heads often.

RED,WHITE AND THE ROYAL TWIST ( Scrapped)

Miguel’s obsession had twisted into something dark, unrecognizable even to himself. It wasn’t just about Alex anymore. It was about power, dominance, and erasing anyone who dared stand in his way. Henry was perfect—too perfect. His charm, his poise, his unshakable connection with Alex. All of it had to go.

Miguel’s search for a solution led him to the shadowy market five blocks down from West Boulevard. The air there felt heavier, suffocating, as though the place itself knew it housed things that shouldn’t exist. A man emerged from the gloom, his grin sharp and predatory.

“You seem... desperate,” the man said, his voice like nails scraping glass.

Miguel nodded, his eyes gleaming with a frenzied determination.

The man handed him a book, its leather cover cracked and ancient. “This will give you power beyond imagination, but it will cost you.”

Miguel didn’t care about the cost. He paid and fled back to his apartment, the book clutched tightly to his chest. He pored over its pages, his eyes devouring each word with growing excitement. The incantation he found—The Mirage of Identity—was perfect. It promised not just transformation but utter domination.

The night of the Peace Banquet arrived. Miguel slipped into the grand hotel, his stolen staff uniform granting him anonymity. He moved with cold precision, every step calculated, every breath steady. Finding Henry’s room was laughably easy. People trusted a man in a uniform.

Inside the room, Miguel hid, the spellbook clenched in his hands. His lips curled into a twisted smile as he rehearsed the incantation. He could feel the power thrumming in the air, the promise of something dark and irreversible.

The lock clicked, and Henry entered, humming softly to himself.

Miguel stepped out from the shadows, his eyes alight with malice.

“Miguel?” Henry said, startled. “What are you—”

“Quiet,” Miguel hissed, his voice dripping with venom. He locked the door with a click that sounded final.

Henry took a step back, his confusion turning to unease. “What’s going on?”

Miguel opened the book and began chanting, the words guttural and alien. The air in the room grew thick, oppressive, as though the walls themselves were closing in.

Henry’s hand flew to his throat as he tried to scream, but his voice cracked and failed. He stumbled, his body convulsing as if it were being wrenched apart from the inside.

His golden hair darkened, each strand twisting into Miguel’s deep brown. His sharp, regal features softened, reshaping into Miguel’s rugged visage. Stubble sprouted along his jaw, thickening into a coarse beard. His body shrank, his royal attire shifting into the simple, worn clothes Miguel wore.

“No!” Henry croaked, his voice now Miguel’s. “What—what are you doing to me?”

Miguel’s laughter filled the room, cold and jagged. “Oh, Henry, you’ll see soon enough. I’m taking everything you have. Everything you are.”

Henry clutched at his face, his hands trembling as he felt the unfamiliar contours of his new identity. “You... you’re insane!”

Miguel’s smirk widened. “Insane? No, Henry. I’m brilliant.”

As Henry’s transformation completed, Miguel felt the spell turn inward. Pain shot through his body, sharp and glorious. His bones cracked and stretched, his muscles shifting and contorting. His dark hair lightened to a golden blond, falling in perfect waves. His face smoothed and sharpened, taking on Henry’s regal features.

He let out a low, guttural laugh as his Spanish accent melted into Henry’s crisp British tones. His clothes shimmered, morphing into royal attire that fit him like a second skin. When he looked in the mirror, the Prince of Wales stared back at him.

Miguel ran a hand through his newly golden hair, his lips curling into a demented grin. “Perfection,” he whispered, his voice rich with delight. “I’m better than you ever were, Henry.”

Henry, now trapped in Miguel’s body, lunged at him. “You won’t get away with this!”

Miguel sidestepped easily, his laughter echoing through the room. “Oh, but I already have.”

He picked up the room phone and called the guards. “This man broke into my room,” he said, his voice calm and commanding. “Get rid of him.”

The guards burst in moments later, grabbing the real Henry—now Miguel.

“No!” Henry shouted, his voice filled with desperation. “I’m the real—”

Miguel interrupted with a mocking wave. “Take him away. I’ll deal with this... imposter later.”

The guards dragged Henry out, ignoring his protests.

Miguel turned back to the mirror, adjusting his royal attire. “Now, Alex won’t know the difference. And soon, I’ll have him wrapped around my finger. The crown will follow.”

He let out a low, chilling chuckle as he left the room. The world was his now, and nothing would stop him.
