Reactions for characters of your choice to this wonderful song about a loving wife coping with the death of her husband?
Just gonna go with Haematite, because yeahhh, why not? XD
. . .
Bless — Rolls his eyes and looks utterly unimpressed. Such childish, crude humor is beneath him, and he doesn't find it funny.
Finch — Happily (and poorly) singing along with every word, even inserting some of his own. Replays the song to annoy everyone.
Aurora — Giggling so hard she snorts. It's the perfect kind of fucked-up humor for a slightly violent thirteen-year-old!
Oberon — Aurora likes it, so he's neutral. Will absolutely humor his sister and pretend like it's funny, though his reactions are a bit dull.
Kalon — The more explicit parts of the video get a few chuckles out of him, but it's not the funniest thing he's seen.
Tierney — More confused than anything. It sounds so violent?? The humor is lost on him in favor of just plain not getting the joke.
Sumire — Finds it hilarious! Probably singing along with Finch at an equal volume, much to the annoyance of everyone around them.
Henry — Doesn't exactly find it funny, but likes it because Sumire and Aurora are having fun. He's easily influenced like that.
Oleander — Such juvenile entertainment would never amuse him. Meaning, he's the buzzkill who complains the whole time.
Rowena — Very confused. But just when you think she's horrified by the violence, she says something even worse than the video.
Rience — Laughing a little bit at certain parts, but paying more attention to everyone else's reactions than his own entertainment.

Violet Evergarden Film and Concert Event Report
Tumblr media
On July 1st, (SUN) the “Violet Evergarden Film & Concert” was held at NHK Hall. It started with a performance from the “Leidenschaftlich Symphony Orchestra”, assembled for the sake of this event. The familiar tone quality of the main theme reminisced to the sceneries of the anime. Within the austere atmosphere, TRUE entered the stage and sang the opening theme “SINCERELY” strong enough not to lose to the orchestra’s playing, causing loud applause to envelop the venue.
← Previous || Index || Next →
Tumblr media
A theatrical blackout ensued after a video of the opening rolled, then Ishikawa Yui, Koyasu Takehito, Namikawa Daisuke, Endou Aya, Uchiyama Kouki, Chihara Minori, Tomatsu Haruka, Evan Call and Yuuki Aira entered the stage. Starting from Ishikawa, who plays Violet, each of the people who had appeared on-stage gave their greetings. Ishikawa spoke out her thoughts about the event itself, “I believe the people who have come here today had been looking forward to this event, and so had I. Yesterday, I watched all the episodes in one go.”
As this was a Film & Concert event, there were not only live performances and songs by the orchestra or talking from the people on-stage, but also an advance screening of the Extra Episode included in the fourth volume of the “Violet Evergarden” Blu-ray DVD, which went on sale July 4th (WED). The Extra Episode is one about Violet’s growth, hidden in-between episodes four and five of “Violet Evergarden”. Everyone in the audience watched the film in seriousness, and the instant that the screening ended, they awarded it with ear-splittingly loud applause.
The hosts entered the stage once more and Namikawa Daisuke, who plays the role of Gilbert Bougainvillea, gave his impressions, “Violet’s figure as she tried her best with all her might and Irma-san’s singing voice shook my heart so much, it was terrible.” After that, Director Ishidate Taichi appeared on-stage as a special guest.
Tumblr media
The director then answered a question regarding what kinds of sentiments he produced the Extra Episode with, “I made it so that it wouldn’t be merely an episode in-between episodes 4 and 5, but also a story that would give a slightly higher-angle view of Violet.” Afterwards, the cast team talked about their impressions when performing each scene. Koyasu discussed what happened in the post-recording, “We have the super sound director Youta Tsuruoka, so it’s fine to just leave everything to him! That person is truly brilliant! *Turns to Tsuruoka-san* Are you watching this~~~~~?” There was a point where he waved his hand, causing laughter to envelop the audience.
Following, there was a talk corner while everyone watched their favorite scenes. Pointing out the scene where Violet embraces Ann as her favorite, Ishikawa spoke, “It’s a scene that left an especially deep impression during the post-recording. I recorded it together with Morohoshi Sumire-chan, who plays Ann; Sumire-chan’s acting was really good, therefore, I didn’t want to ruin it, and since that was supposed to be a scene where Violet was refraining from crying, I was also bracing myself because I couldn’t afford to cry, so I felt a lot of pressure. Because of this, I wound up with a tremor in my left hand during the recording, and I remember wishing I had suppressed it with my right hand during the post-recording.” An occurrence in the studio during the post-recording of this episode where everyone in the cast was fighting back tears and Endou and Chihara claimed, “Impossible!” while leaving the booth was revealed as well.
Next, pointing out the scene where Hodgins answers Violet’s question of “Is it all right for me to be alive?” as his favorite, Koyasu spoke, “(Here,) I’m the only one she has, right? It’s a scene where the feelings and technique are truly, extremely difficult. That’s perfect, right? I think that, in the shooting and script, it’s okay to say that the moment of title call at the end was mellow, so I enacted the encouragement for Violet to live on walking steadily from that point forward in a lighthearted way, with a hopeful hint to it.” As the director commented, “It was flawless”, there was an instance where Koyasu replied with, “Right~?” while he and Namikawa clapped their hands.
When the director was asked about putting words in the title call at the end of the shots, he responded, “The original novel is in an omnimbus format, so at the last sentences, the after-read feeling is very good. In order to portray this in the anime, it turned out the way it is now.”
The favorite scene chosen by Endou was not one that she performed, but the moment that Leon had a conversation with Violet at the end of episode six. Endou commented, “When Violet said ‘yes’ and ‘yes’, her facial expression during those two answers was great. It was a wonderful scene, in which one could feel femininity and maternity. I don’t appear in this episode, but in Cattleya’s viewpoint, I felt that she had growth even when I wasn’t around.”
Picking the scene where Benedict helps out Violet as his favorite, Uchiyama spoke, “His activeness went to the point of making one think, ‘Did Benedict disappear in the middle of it?’ (laugh), so I was happy that there was a scene of him saving Violet in the later half.” As Uchiyama asked, “He ran a lot on those rails wearing heels, but don’t they make it difficult for him to work?”, the director answered, “Heels are part of Benedict’s aesthetic, so that won’t be yielded. (Laugh)” and laughter ensued.
Chihara talked about how it was terrible to choose a scene as all of them were too marvelous, but even so, she gave the scene in which Violet is reading a letter sent by Erica and Iris and expressed her honest feelings, “I really like this scene a lot!”
Tomatsu gave the scene from episode four where Iris talks about her past and said, “It was the one of Iris’s turn. She was tsuntsun towards Violet, and prickly because of her immaturity. But here, she became frank. It’s an episode where she was able to grow up, so it left an impression on me.”
The scene that Namikawa chose as his favorite was the moment in which Gilbert told Violet, “From the bottom of my heart, I love you”. He commented, “For Gilbert, this scene is everything (that he wants to convey in the series).” and the director also said, “This scene is my favorite.”
When the talk ended, it was time for the Leidenschaftlich Symphony Orchestra to perform once again. From grandiose to soft musical compositions, the suites arranged as the background music were presented, and everyone in the audience fell in love upon listening to them.
Moreover, Yuuki Aira corteously sang the insert song of episode nine, “Believe in...”. Then, TRUE introduced the insert song of the Extra Episode, “Letter”. Along her emotion-driving singing voice, the image of Irma singing in the play overlapped with her own.
Additionally, Evan Call, who was in charge of the soundtrack, went up to the conductor’s podium, swayed the baton, and the accompaniment suites were played. Evan Call then smiled and shook hands with the concertmaster (the 1st violin), leaving the stage.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In sequence, what started from a piano solo was the ending theme by Chihara Minori, “Michishirube”. As the exhilaration increased with the dense orchestral performance, Chihara’s singing voice echoed across the venue.
Tumblr media
Last was (the image song) “Violet Snow” by Yuuki. The original song is only accompained by piano, but this time, it turned into an orchestra version special song. As Yuuki delivered her feelings and singing voice to the audience with all her might, loud applause enveloped the venue, and the cast team entered the stage yet again.
Tumblr media
For the ending, each of the people on-stage bid their farewells, and Ishikawa closed the event with her words, “I fell in love with Violet at first sight, and this is very presumtuous of me, but for some reason, hers is a role that I have strong emotional attachment toward, to the point of making me think, ‘I have to play her’. The animation made by Kyoto Animation-san is extremely wonderful, the music is also magnificent, and I’m glad I was able to witness it (in live performance) at today’s event. I’m happy to have become a piece of ‘Violet Evergarden’. Truly, thank you very much for today!”
Tumblr media
After the cast and orchestra left the stage, a video of “Violet Evergarden” played on the screen, and lastly, the information that a completely new movie will be presented to the public in Japan and the world at the same time come January 2020 was released.
Just a year and a half until the completely new movie. Please look forward to the future developments of “Violet Evergarden”!

The character intros... *grabby hands grabby hands grabby hands* hand em over (if you want to ofc) 👁👁👁👁
Absolutely! XD This is copy-pasted from @dixbolik-lovers, but here you go!
Tumblr media
Bless
Twenty-nine years old. Tsundere boy. Done with everyone else’s shit. He tries to act like he’s above it all, but is actually just as fucked up and weird as everyone else. Kind of a creep actually. Probably lowkey a pervert. Thinks he’s better than those around him, but his ego can come crashing down hard.
Tumblr media
Finch
Eighteen years old. Little shit. Cryptid incarnate. A legal adult now and very happy about this. A terror to everyone around him, but acts his worst whenever he’s around Bless. The pest that everyone wants to hit with a flyswatter. No one knows where the fuck he came from and he’s not talking.
Tumblr media
Aurora
Thirteen years old. Tiny baby girl. Small and sweet, but super aggressive and intense. Won’t hesitate to fight people twice her size now that she’s a vampire. The precious little sister to her big brother... who will fuck up anyone who lays a hand on her. She uses this to her advantage.
Tumblr media
Oberon
(His hair is supposed to be a slightly lighter gray than Aurora’s.)
Twenty-seven years old. Aurora’s overprotective big brother. A scary and mysterious guy who no one knows much of anything about. Probably a criminal. Definitely knows how to hide a body. Sexy voice. Doesn't show his face to anyone but his little sister.
Tumblr media
Kalon
Twenty-one years old. Awful, awful boy. Likes fucking with people for the fun of it. Gets along well with Oberon. Acts tough and is kind of a dick, but might have a softer side than he wants people to know about. Pretty chill overall. Aurora’s babysitter when Oberon isn’t around.
Tumblr media
Tierney
Twenty-nine years old. The walking manifestation of an anxiety attack. The only sane one of all of them and perpetually horrified by the lunatics he's forced to be around. Might be something of a masochist, but he’s not telling. A pessimistic guy who sees the worst in everything.
Tumblr media
Sumire
Eighteen years old. In her last year of high school. Seems cute and friendly, but is actually all kinds of scary. Cheerful and ditzy, but prone to violence. Just wants everyone around her to be happy. Big titty, big heart. Her eyes look dead for a very good reason. Probably traumatized.
Tumblr media
Henry
Fifteen years old. The other absolute baby. Seems to be one of the sane ones, but not really. Probably has stabbed someone before. Cute, but has his breaking points. Super shy, stutters a lot. Please give him a hug before he cries. Has a crush on Aurora.
Tumblr media
Oleander
Sixteen years old. Bratty little shit who thinks he’s tough. Sharp mouth to anyone he doesn't respect... which is basically everyone. Bad attitude and worse behavior. Actually kind of a coward. Very smart, but lacks common sense. Hates anyone who thinks they’re better than him.
Tumblr media
Rowena
Twenty-four years old... maybe. Mysterious girl. Serious and solemn, but also very gentle and kind. The things she says about her past don’t quite line up. Extremely quiet and withdrawn. Takes care of others. From a very sheltered background and doesn’t know how the real world works.

2 and 34 for Finch, Sumire, Oleander and Aurora?
Finch
2. How tall are they?
5′6 or 168 cm. Short enough to have to kick people in the shins but tall enough not to be considered tiny.
34. A random fact?
No one knows a fucking thing about Finch’s past and he’s not telling. All anyone’s gotten out of him so far is his name (maybe), that he’s eighteen (hopefully), and that he doesn’t like to talk about himself (definitely). As far as parental situation and background go, Finch is an utter mystery. He likes it that way. His only motivation seems to be a pest to everyone he meets. If asked about his history, all he’ll do is laugh and say that he doesn’t know, doesn’t remember, or doesn’t care.
Sumire
2. How tall are they?
5′8 or 175 cm. Tall for a woman and proud of it. Forever disappointed that she’s not as tall as Rowena.
34. A random fact?
Sumire is surprisingly violent for how nice she seems. She’s cheerful and makes friends with just about everyone she meets, but for some reason, she’s really prone to doing bad things. Once the vampire thing settles in, Sumire is among the first of the group to kill-- and not necessarily because she has to. Her logic is that she’s a vampire now, so why shouldn’t she kill her prey? It starts out milder than that, yeah, but as things for all of them spiral, Sumire shows a worrying willingness to hurt people.
Oleander
2. How tall are they?
5′5 or 166 cm. Short enough that it deeply irritates him. Will be a brat to anyone who tries to lord their height over him.
34. A random fact?
He comes from a wealthy family and attended a “special education” institution for both elementary school and middle school. The fact that Oleander is what amounts to a spoiled rich kid does not help his arrogance or entitlement one bit. When he hit high school, his parents forced him to live on his own and on a budget to try to “teach him about the real world”. This may or may not be because they’re losing money fast. Oleander is completely unaware of this and holds one nasty grudge. And... he hasn’t adjusted too well to living by himself.
Aurora
2. How tall are they?
5′0 or 153 cm. The baby of the group in both height and age. Absolutely tiny next to her big brother, who carries her often.
34. A random fact?
When she was a little kid, Aurora was a biter. To everyone. It was a persistent bad habit of hers, and one that even Oberon bears a few scars from. He has three of her tiny mouth imprints in his arms; two on the left and one on the right... and one on his neck. Aurora is a bit embarrassed by this, but also finds it hilarious. When she’s particularly stressed out, she’ll go right back to biting people too, which has become a problem now that she’s a vampire. Her bites have gone from painful to deadly.

Sumire Chihara — Character Questions
How old are they? — Eighteen.
What gender are they? — Female.
What is their romantic/sexual orientation? — Pansexual/romantic
How tall are they? — 5′8/175cm
What do they look like? — Fair skin, a tall, surprisingly stocky and curvy build,  a wide, near-permanent smile. Wide, round, black eyes that look a little too dead. Silky, smooth-textured, shoulder-length black hair worn straight and loose with bangs that fall in her face.
What are their defining features? — Her height (tall for a woman her age), the dead look in her eyes, smile that never seems to go away.
Does their name have a meaning? — Sumire means “violet (the flower)”, and Chihara means “bloody field”.
What family do they have? — Her mother and father are both alive and well. She doesn’t have any siblings, but there are a good few other relatives that she’s been in contact with over the years.
Do they have a good relationship with their family? — Aside from a particular traumatic event, Sumire’s relationship with her family has been normal and healthy. She gets along well with her parents (though a little better with her father) and has had a pretty happy childhood. She trusts her parents enough that she was willing to open up to them when she in the worst period of the issues she had following the above-mentioned traumatic event.
If not, why not? — Again, Sumire’s relationship with her parents is just fine. They worry about her a lot, but they trust her and love her just the same as she does them. She’s their beloved daughter, problems or not.
Where do they live? — In a modest home in a completely average part of the city. It’s big enough for her and her parents to live comfortably, but not particularly noteworthy or extravagant. She has her own bedroom and a small flower garden outside, and a fenced-in yard where she used to play with a small dog they had in her childhood.
Is it a safe place? — Relatively. There’s nothing wrong with where she lives. The city has its inherent dangers, but the area that Sumire’s home is in isn’t bad. The crime rate is average with no notable dangers, so she and her family live without many worries.
Are they poor, middle-class, or wealthy? — Pretty middle-class. Her family isn’t really rich or poor. They live comfortably and have never wanted for basic necessities, but they don’t have a lot of disposable income either. Sumire was the kind of child who got plenty of Christmas and birthday presents and they had enough money for simple vacations, but there’s no way that they could be called “wealthy” as things are.
Do they look up to anyone? — Sumire has had friends and teachers that she looks up to, but never to an extreme degree. It’s all been normal levels of finding someone cool or impressive. She’s never found anyone who she truly looks up to, at least, not to an extreme degree. There have been people she’s crushed on in ways that could be “admiration” as well.
Who is their best friend? — Sumire’s relationships are somewhat distant. While she has friends at school, she has trouble truly connecting to people in deep and meaningful ways. There isn’t really anyone that she’d consider to be her best friend, save for maybe Henry. Since they’ve bonded over similar things, they’re closer than either of them are to much of anyone else. Sumire likes how he understands what she’s been through.
Do they have any enemies? — In a way, yes. The person who attempted to rob her family when she was eleven is someone who Sumire hates, even if she hasn’t seen him in over seven years. She doesn’t know if he even remembers her, but she can’t forget about him, and she never will.
Who is the person they hate most in the world? — On the same note, the burglar. The man tried to rob her house, and when he got caught, shot Sumire’s father and took her as a hostage. Her father survived, but Sumire herself was a hostage for about a month before the police could find her and get her back. She was never seriously hurt during that time, but the trauma of it is something that messed her up in a lot of ways. It shaped a lot of her current personality, and she’ll probably never get past it.
Do they have any love/hate relationships? — Not really. Sumire is generally straightforward with how she feels about people. She either likes them or doesn’t, and rarely has trouble dealing with any in-between.
Have they ever fallen in love? — She’s dated a few people of varying genders, but never “fallen in love” with any of them.
Who is the person they love the most in the world? — Her parents. Especially after what happened with the burglary attempt, Sumire treasures both of them. They raised her well and always took care of her, and she’s happy to have such kind people in her life.
Does that person love them back? — Absolutely. While they do worry a lot about her, Sumire’s parents love her dearly. After everything that’s happened and the month where they lost her, she’s even more precious to them.
Have they ever hurt or lost anyone? — Sumire has never hurt anyone close to her, but she did come very close to losing someone. When her father was shot, she spent her month as a hostage convinced he was dead. It felt like she’d lost someone, and the trauma of that stuck with her. She was scared at times that she’d lost both of her parents and would die before seeing them again.
Are they a good shoulder to cry on? — In a way, yes, and in a way, no. Sumire is outwardly very sympathetic and comforting. She’s kind and capable of being very gentle. But if you get close enough to her or if you dig too deep, you realize that there’s something missing. She’s plenty good at comforting people, but look too close, and you’ll see that she’s a little less than genuine in her empathy levels. It often feels like she’s rehearsed her means of comforting.
Are they well-liked? — Generally yes. At school and in her general life, people tend to like Sumire pretty well. She’s cheerful and charming, and others tend to be drawn to her glowing personality and good attitude.
How do they handle being complimented? — She happily thanks the person for their compliment and often gives one in return. Compliments make her happy whether they’re reasonable or not. Just the fact that someone says something kind to her is nice.
Are they an affectionate person? — Very! Sumire likes being affectionate with her friends and family. She can be very physically touchy, loves hugs, and is always willing to give headpats or shoulder rubs. Emotionally, she also doesn’t hesitate to open up and show how much she cares about people.
Are they very driven? — It depends. Sumire doesn’t have anything, in particular, that she’s striving toward, but when she does have a goal in mind, she does well at accomplishing it.
Are they very political? — Not really. There are other things to think about.
What kind of state is the world that they live in? — Sumire’s world is a pretty average, empty one. There’s nothing in her life that really stands out to her or drives her. Ever since the robbery incident, there’s been something wrong in her head. She doesn’t know what it is, but her “world” has been changed for seven years, and she doesn’t know how to make it go back. Her life is normal and she has nothing to complain about, but just the same, she doesn’t exactly like it.
Does the character worry about their place in society? — Nope. She’s content with where she is in life. A daughter, a high school student, and a growing adult is a good enough place for her to be. There’s nothing she could wish for differently in that regard.
If they could change one thing, what would it be? — The robbery, for sure. Or even just her hostage situation. If Sumire could pick one thing to change, she’d have a hard time choosing. Could she make the robbery not happen altogether? Should she change not being a hostage? She’d probably decide on her dad not being shot, if only because she cares more about him than herself.
Do they like themselves? — It’s kind of a strange situation. Sumire doesn’t hate herself. She thinks she’s a nice person with a lot of good traits. But just the same, she doesn’t like herself either. She knows there’s something wrong with her, and that prevents her from having self-love or even a real sense of self-preservation or wanting to be alive.
Are they a good person? — Debatably. Sumire is generally a kind, open, and cheerful person, but she’s capable of some very disturbing things.
Are they very forgiving? — For the most part, yes. The only time where “forgiving” doesn’t apply is when it comes to a certain person. That person being the robber. She doesn’t think she can ever forgive him.
Do they believe in destiny? — Maybe. The things that have happened to her might have been destiny, but if that’s the case, she doesn’t like fate at all.
Are they trustworthy? — Sumire is a fairly trustworthy person. She doesn’t have many reasons to lie or go back on people, and she’s generally straightforward enough to do what she says she will. She prefers to be direct than dishonest by far.
Are they a good liar? — If she needs to be, she can, but lying doesn’t come easily to her. Sumire is direct enough that she doesn’t like having to tell untruths, and she generally gets uncomfortable enough that you can tell when she’s lying over small things. Larger matters, however, like what goes on inside her head... people will never know what she’s thinking.
How do they react to criticism? — Sumire can generally brush off criticism. If it’s reasonable, she’ll take the advice and try to improve, but she can ignore pointless, meaningless criticism pretty easily.
What is their moral alignment? — Somewhere between neutral and good. She wants to help people and be a good person, but there’s a lot of darkness inside of her head that can show up at the worst times. She doesn’t always connect to her emotions properly, and that can end in her behavior going from “good” to “morally debatable very quickly.
Can they fight? — Not exactly. Before the whole vampire thing happens, Sumire doesn’t have any real combat training. She’s strong for her age (thanks to her larger build), but she doesn’t know combat.
Would they ever purposefully hurt someone? — Surprisingly, yes. Sumire had a period when she was about fourteen or fifteen where she started struggling with thoughts of hurting others. She had to spend almost a year in a psych facility because of it, and she still has problems with the thoughts. Once she becomes a vampire, those violent thoughts become a very bad tendency toward violence. She’s absolutely someone who’s capable of hurting other people, and that can be dangerous.
Have they ever been seriously injured? — Not to a serious degree. She was smacked around somewhat during her hostage situation, but the robber, fortunately, wasn’t interested in hurting her.
Do they know first-aid? — Not really. She knows the basics, but not anything beyond the very simplest of techniques.
Do they have any other survival skills? — Sumire has lived an average enough life that she’s never really had a need for them. People skills are the closest thing to “survival skills” she has, although that does also apply to her strange level of skill at pacifying others.
Are they a fast learner? — Pretty average. There’s nothing too remarkable about Sumire’s speed at picking up skills and tasks.
How intelligent are they? — Mostly average, perhaps a little above. Sumire isn’t really one for book smarts, even though she does do fairly well in school. Intuition her strong suit. There’s nothing that stands out.
What is their school system like? — Sumire had a pretty normal school life up until the robbery. For the next three to four years after that, she had problems. She started doing badly in school, having issues with her peers, and having teachers question her mental state. Around age fourteen to fifteen, she spent a year in a psychiatric facility where she more or less had to continue school from within it. After she got out, Sumire returned to high school pretty normally and had a decent school experience after that. She’s not insanely popular, but she does have friends and gets along well with others.
What is their job? — Her current “job” is that she’s in her last year of high school. She’s decent at her studies and scores well on tests, but doesn’t put a lot of effort into school work in general.
Do they enjoy their job? — For the most part, yes. School is nice because she gets to spend time with other people and get out. The work isn’t Sumire’s favorite thing, but it gives her something to do to take her mind off of the kinds of thoughts that never really leave her head.

Note
There's so much to say, but let's start with Sumire. I love her. Like, the character I always love to see because she will act like I want to
Ohhhh yes. Sumire is fun. XD She starts out seeming like such a nice girl! So friendly and helpful to everyone! But then, it quickly starts becoming clear that she’s a little fucked up. Tierney is terrified. Finch thinks she’s amazing. Bless is just sickened that there’s another lunatic in the group. Sumire is still as sweet as can be, of course! She’s just a bit too okay with feeding from humans. And killing them. She’s a vampire now, so why not, right?
