Hmmm I really need to get some acoustic panelling (maybe some bass traps) for the office. I'm listening to music over my speakers in here right now and between how empty of a room it is at the moment (the only things in here are my desk, PC, guitars, and amp) and the barren walls, sound waves have a lot of long flat surfaces to reflect across. It makes the bass sound a lot boomier than it would otherwise, and the middle treble frequencies get a bit lost. The sound will improve once we put Cate's desk and a futon and some other furniture in here, but it still might be a bit too boomy.

Remember kids, one of the biggest contributors to an enjoyable audio experience is proper room treatment. At the very least, do your listening in a room that has lots of varied and soft surfaces which will absorb sound waves rather than reflect them. Bookshelves stuffed full of books and soft furniture like a couch work almost as well as acoustic panelling. The trick is to avoid large patches of flat, hard surface.

Honestly, I don't know how my old roommate was able to stand listening to anything in here with the way he had the room set up, and he always listened to music.

#blog #also you generally don't need ceiling treatment with like drop panels unless you're in a recording studio #the times when I've streamed people have commented on my audio being very good #and i can thank a little EQ tweaking and a room full of bookshelves for that #i think this is why so many streamers have shit audio #unless they actively invested in acoustic panelling they have nothing in their room to absorb sound because none of them have read a book

Archive 81 tv show made Melody Pendras straight we cannot trust podcasts in the hands of mainstream media !!!!!!!

#archive 81 #I have mixed feelings about it and as soon as they introduced Gal Pal Annabelle to replace Actual Girlfriend Alexa it should have been a #red flag #conceptually I really liked what they did to flesh out the first season #but they took it in a completely different direction by the end and at that point it’s not even the same thing anymore 🙄#like you can’t even pick up anything from the original’s season 2 because they reconstructed the narrative so much #idk man its not like they’re going to make any more of it anyways but I still felt the need to come on here and bitch #honestly main stream adaptations of podcasts scare me like I revel in exposure for things I like but ultimately so much gets lost in #translation #like archive 81 podcast is weird and nonsensical at times and Tape Recorder Man’s adventures in the Upside Down just don’t translate to a #general audience ? so they gotta bring in reasons for it to make sense like satanism and witches and demons #when that was sooooooo not the point of the original #like seeing how much they had to adjust to appeal to an outside audience makes me almost glad the wtnv tv show didn’t get green lit #can you imagine ???? how the fuck would they get five headed dragon Hiram McDaniel on my actual television ????#standing next to a Cecil Palmer with a canon appearance no less #like adaptations are cool and they CAN work sometimes but if you’re going to have to break and bend the world in order to make it to the #point where it’s a new thing entirely #ESPECIALLY since we live in a world where audio drama is not respected as a creative medium #at that point I’m just like leave it alone it’s fine on it’s own #anyways archive 81 is an interesting experiment into what live action podcast adaptations COULD look like but you can pry lesbian Melody #Pendras from my cold dead hands and that makes the adaptation automatically inferior imo #I guess she could be bi but when you remove Canon Girlfriend and instead make her kiss a man ? not likely #I am just talking to hear myself talk now goodbye #max rambles in the tags

Blur - Girls & Boys, Coachella 2024, weekend 2 (20 April 2024)

‘Wow... sorry, but for me, that's like... that's the spirit.’

Damon was in a playful mood during this song, wasn't he? Taking full advantage of a slightly more responsive crowd than weekend 1 of Coachella, he got up into the crowd, headbutted a beach ball, was a bit purposely out of time and key to change things up; "spin it if you want: girls sing 'boys', boys sing 'girls'" during the second chorus, and I think he was pleased to be playing with and playing to a crowd that was receptive. Slightly shambolic performance, but isn't that the Blur we know and love.

I noticed only now that Damon's done something I often do (that maybe bums out people 20 years older than me), which is that since I didn't really live through the 90s, out of habit, I've always sung, 'Love in the 90s was paranoid' (instead of 'is paranoid'), and Damon did the same here. Huh.

Anyway, this performance was a bit mad, I hope this wasn't really the last time we see it!
