Very funny that Andy specifically came back for an animated Trek so he didn't have to get into the Garak costume/makeup again.

I realized there were a bunch of things in my life that overlap with Spock. I'm such a sensitive person and out of fear of being hurt, I would hide my feelings a lot as a kid. That lasted into my adulthood in a lot of ways. Spock feels deeply and is very sensitive. He's grown up in this culture where he's not allowed to be like that. Being human is shameful and having emotion is shameful. There was some overlap there. I've learned a lot from him. ETHAN PECK FOR INSTYLE (2023)

This is a really great interview with Kate Mulgrew -- I am really enjoying her memoir despite or because of how difficult and sharp it is.
In this interview, she mentions how she made a contract with herself, the first being that she will say what's true because then what's the point if she's not true to herself.
And I can attest that she's brutally honest in her book. Second, her book would have some lyricism, and again, she does this really well. Because she has such marvelous turns of phases in it.
What I like about Kate is that she holds herself to the harsh light of day and doesn't look away. She has led a difficult but supremely interesting life.
And, she, by her own admission, has been difficult and harsh, amidst her warmth she can also be harsh. (I think no one knows more about this than Jeri Ryan). It's kind of hard when you realize the actors you like are flawed and so Human, and that they do things you don't agree with. But she also owns up to that, which isn't something a lot of people can do. She also owns up to her ambition and choice to be an actress, and having that meant that for a large part of her children's lives, she was absent from them.
Anyway, this interview is so brilliant and that now I am actually a fan of the interviewer. He asks such great questions and he has such great rapport with Kate.

🤖 Oh, do all androids look the same?
Is THAT what you’re trying to say?! A rare VHS copy of the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode featuring “DataLore”, where the back image shows Brent Spiner’s stunt double (this Tumblr post includes snippets of Wil Wheaton explaining how he got fired for being annoying).

I was just reading Brent Spiner's book Fan Fiction, and I began to wonder what it really is like for the actors of Star Trek. I mean getting freaky fan mail & gifts every day. Possibly reading fan fiction themselves. I read where Brent Spiner said part of it is true, but it's mostly false, so the situation in the book is overdone, but what must it really be like? I'm having trouble putting into words how f*ucked up that must be. Like they go around thinking this is just a job. With the fan craziness, getting gifts, handmade art, and seeing buttons and action figuresof themselves but it's literally just a job. A f*ucking cool job but just a job nonetheless. I spoke to one of the stars of tng at a con once who was concerned they wouldn't make any money at this con because They had been put in a smaller side room with a bunch of B actors, but on the 1st day of a 3 day con their line was out the door & taking up an entire hallway as far back as I could see. When my turn came up as we were talking(yes actually talked to them & got pictures for like 10 minutes) they mentioned that they were worried they wouldn't make much money at this con and my husband & I looked at each other looked at them and said "even with the huge line out in the hall"?they said "Oh, that's not for all of us in this room? "Are you kidding? we laughed. Wait ,wait, I'm starting to get off topic....tee hee ANYway they see it as just a job...then I thought what in the hell did you think they thought it was? At first I freaked like f*uck the stuff I've said to these people. Not weirdo stuff unless "I love you as Beverly, you inspired me..." is a weirdo thing to say....(it wasn't Gates in the story above) I..I don't remember what my exact point was about anymore....

Oof. I felt Terry Farrell’s “No”.
It’s pure sexism why Colm Meany and Armin Shimerman were allowed to do other projects but Terry Farrell asked for the same and she got fired instead.
Rick Berman has a LOT to answer for.
