Placed in 2002, the statue, constructed of bronze and gold, stands above the Lach Gates in Independence Square in Kyiv. St. Michael the Archangel is the patron saint of Kyiv and is also at the center of the coat of arms of the Ukrainian capital.

O archangel Michael and all the powers of heaven, fight for Ukraine! Cast down that devil who is attacking us and killing us, bringing devastation and death!

We found these at the estate sale of a local veteran. They were on a paracord, and I wonder if these weren't the medals he wore in combat. I almost hate to split them up and can't help but wonder what he would have wanted.
