we went to the annual arts festival in my husband's hometown and so many local artists doing well made my heart sing. seeing the crowd of people waiting in line to buy a glass pumpkin is such a joy. they're such beautiful works of art and the makers work all year on them. i'm looking forward to the day where ben and i are settled down somewhere, ready to get our own glass pumpkins, along with hand blown tumblers, hand made furniture, and original art for the walls. ✨

ahhhhh! my whale shark came in! :D :D :D
is so cuuuuute! okay so. STORY TIME
this whale shark is made from flip-flops pulled out of the ocean in Kenya. the company, Ocean Sole, pays locals to collect the shoes from the beaches and rivers, then employs artisans from the area to carve them into cool animals and stuff! then they use the profits to help collect more shoes! AND they use the scraps to stuff mattresses for refugee camps!
AND have i mentioned this guy IS THE CUTEST!?!?!
you can buy stuff in their shop here. and you can watch a video of how they make the stuff below. V
overall: ten stars would buy again! :D
(also thank you to my little bro for the the late Christmas pressie!)

Artisanal Craftsmanship: Celebrating Handmade Home Goods
Artisanal craftsmanship celebrates the beauty of handmade home goods crafted with skill, passion, and attention to detail. In a world dominated by mass-produced items, artisanal pieces stand out for their uniqueness, quality, and soul. By incorporating handmade home goods into your space, you not only add character and charm but also support local artisans and preserve traditional craft techniques. Here's why artisanal craftsmanship deserves to be celebrated and how you can incorporate handmade treasures into your home:
Unique and One-of-a-Kind: Handmade home goods are inherently unique, each bearing the mark of the artisan who created it. Whether it's a hand-thrown ceramic vase, a handwoven textile, or a hand-carved wooden bowl, artisanal pieces add a sense of individuality and personality to your home that cannot be replicated by mass-produced items.
Quality and Durability: Artisanal craftsmanship prioritizes quality over quantity, resulting in home goods that are built to last. Skilled artisans take pride in their workmanship, using traditional techniques and high-quality materials to create pieces that withstand the test of time. By investing in handmade home goods, you ensure that your space is filled with items of enduring beauty and functionality.
Supporting Local Artisans: When you purchase handmade home goods, you're not just buying a product; you're supporting local artisans and their livelihoods. By investing in artisanal craftsmanship, you help sustain traditional craft practices and promote economic empowerment within your community. Your purchase directly contributes to the preservation of cultural heritage and the continuation of time-honored craft traditions.
Celebrating Cultural Heritage: Artisanal craftsmanship often reflects the rich cultural heritage of a region, incorporating traditional motifs, techniques, and materials passed down through generations. By incorporating handmade home goods into your space, you celebrate the diversity and richness of global craftsmanship, fostering a deeper appreciation for cultural traditions and artisanal skills.
Customization and Personalization: Many artisans offer custom or made-to-order options, allowing you to collaborate with them to create bespoke pieces tailored to your specific preferences and needs. Whether it's customizing the size, color, or design of a piece, handmade home goods offer the opportunity for personalization and self-expression, ensuring that your space reflects your unique style and personality.
Environmental Sustainability: Handmade home goods are often crafted using sustainable practices and eco-friendly materials, minimizing environmental impact and promoting responsible consumption. By choosing artisanal craftsmanship, you contribute to a more sustainable and ethical way of living, supporting practices that prioritize craftsmanship, durability, and environmental stewardship.
Incorporating artisanal craftsmanship into your home is a celebration of creativity, authenticity, and cultural heritage. Whether it's a handcrafted pottery collection, a set of woven textiles, or a piece of hand-forged metalwork, each artisanal treasure tells a story and adds warmth and character to your living space.

do you know what's great about a ship with such depth of record? you're still stumbling over new content years after the fact. anyway here's what david ferrer's face looks like when he's getting a hug from his special friend at a davis cup anniversary celebration in 2010.
#david ferrer#juan carlos ferrero#thinking about the takeout analogy. the thing is there's a fine line between ease of consumption and satisfaction of production.#ideally you have enough food to be full but not so much that you can no longer savor the deliciousness of each dish#the cook's artisanal touch... the unique flavor profile... the element of culinary surprise...#farm-to-table ferruero#relatedly i also love berrypicking irl. and visiting the local harvest-your-own-veggies farm.#the fedal caterer on speed dial does provide some amazing meals tho.#sincaraz is you go to a normal-looking restaurant then the chef (carlos alcaraz) comes out to force-feed you a 12 course banquet.#hey can you tell it's been a long day at work. i'm hungry.#made in valencia#<- official mapa label

With the rampant enshitification going on, are there even good luxury products now? If even luxury products are made with shitty quality in shitty conditions, why not buy a bootleg model much cheaper and the same quality?
Tbh for me a truly luxury product would be something handmade that will last 50 or more years
Behold!
Handmade crochet pumpkins I bought from a street vendor. I truly live on the lap of luxury

Gojo getting you fancy ass chocolate for your birthday.
And I don't mean like the fancy kind you can still get at grocery stories
I'm talking they're made by a certified chocolatier
Like next level chocolate, like 8 dollars or more PER PIECE so next level that any time he knows you're mad at him he gets said chocolates and suddenly it's like all his crimes have been absolved
#which I promise some of them are so fucking good. I had a honeycomb nougat piece from a local artisan chocolate shop that I paid 6 dollars#for and it was so good I wanted to cry. It was like the perfect bite.

the thing about being someone who likes to go to farmers markets and shopping local vendors is your favorite stuff can and will disappear without a trace because the one person running the show gets tired of slinging cookies or w/e in a crowded hot market every weekend. And one day you'll look up and realize you haven't seen them there in a while, and you go to their instagram, and their last post is from January like 'see you at the market this weekend!', but you won't. You won't ever again.
#this is about a local milk tea vendor I miss a lot#on the other hand I used to get this nut milk from a local vendor and one day I squinted at the bottle and saw in extremely tiny font#“not pasteurized” so you know#take your local artisanal vendors with a grain of salt

Last night's winner was Bloody Mary
Fruity without being...syrupy. Powerful without being too bold. There's an interesting balance here between the smoothness and a slight tang. The faintest hint of orange, with rose resting on the very top of everything, and a subtle black tea in the middle. The fruitiness that gently dominates seems to be a very subtle cherry. Interesting one!
I have over 100 tea varieties, mostly from Adagio.com. No, this is not an advertisement. I've just gotta do something about all this tea. Links below (if they exist).
Krakatoa Anhui Keemun (no link) Pocketful of Posie (scroll down in the link) Titanic Ross Jasmine Silver Needle
Running out of teas that aren't in a certain category/fandom... So, sorry for the lack of variety that shall be forthcoming. Thanks for helping me get rid of the tea.
Before long we'll bring the...non-Adagio teas to the party.
#tea#teablr#tea poll#adagio teas#adagio.com#poll#pollblr#tumblr poll#how do i tag seriously#soooooo yeah i have way more tea than previously implied#there was also like 60 from Twinings that i've been demolishing quietly haha#and a bunch of store shelf brands...#BUT some local blends from an artisan tea place will join the polls before too long
