When I was younger, we had a clock in the garage that would sing bird calls every hour, instead of chiming or ticking or the regular things clocks do. (......I am fairly sure it was exiled to the garage by my mother, who hated the hollow, tinny sound of it.) Anyway, I mostly remember that clock because the mourning dove call was so distinctive---twoo, twoo, too too too, too too too. I can shut my eyes and hear that song, and it taught me to identify it with unerring precision, even though I couldn't pick out another birdcall to save my life.

To this day, mourning doves are one of my favorite birds. and when I caught sight of one perched delicately on my bird feeder I lost my ever loving mind and will take it as a sign of good things to come.

these are all SPECIFICALLY meant to be things that weren't usually relevant if at all to the plot/game of blaseball, just small stuff, hence the exclusion of things like wimdies or the chaos of all you can eat or the actual ballpark expansions themselves

is it always the same owl? how do u know

Hi! We have two owls, who are mates, who've been hanging out with us for a few years. Barred owls are highly territorial, plus their habits are recognizable to us now - they have favorite trees and favorite branches on those trees, regular visiting hours, and you can tell which is which by their calls, though it helps if they're standing next to each other.

They also know that I will put peanuts out for the Steller's jays, if they start to get mobbed, and that the peanuts draw the jays away. If they see me out and about they'll wait for me to do this now instead of what they used to do, which was get real fluffy and stressed and fly away. For comparison to my latest, this is stressed out owl tracking jays. Look at the eyes:

Stranger owls wouldn't trust me in quite the same way, though Barred owls aren't too fussed about people in general.

This is of course in exchange for the owls not eating our favorite Douglas squirrel family. They are not aware that this is the deal, but so far so good anyway.

A lovely little visitor at my feeder. I love squirrels. My dog, Petey, loves to watch them, too. She'll sit at the window for hours watching the squirrels frolick and eat. They put on a great show!!

saw something referencing ben linus from lost the other day and it reminded me of one of my favorite lost moments, in which ben tells sawyer they put a BOMB in his HEART and if his heart rate goes over [whatever] then he'll EXPLODE AND DIE and sawyer spends like the next two episodes being super anguished and martyred about it etc and then ben is like lol no we didn't do that. how would we even do that. lmao. and that's it and it's never mentioned again. incomparable television.

sadly I don’t think the roasted grandpaw dish would work, since in canon the skyclan cats expressed shock/horror at the idea of eating rats. to them rats are like foxes or badgers. dangerous, keep them away from skyclan territory, and don’t eat them

To be fair I'm probably going to end up doing away with the way the Clans are weird about rats.

Carrionplace rats are gross specifically because they eat stinky human garbage, but why exactly do the Clans (it's not just skyclan that acts like this) see a huge mouse as being disgusting? When it's been eating all-natural bugs and fruits and nuts its whole life?

It's the Erin's human bias creeping in and nothing more. Rat yummy. Big fat rat yummier.

If anything rats should be seen as the boss version of mice. Bigger, stronger, smarter, much more rewarding but also a bigger risk to take on because they can fight back.
