However because they're both so damn stubborn this would result in their first ever couple fight post-turning which inevitably becomes extremely personal extremely quickly (should Rachael get to live forever with Deckard? Is her life beautiful BECAUSE its short? Does Deckard's love for her mean more if he's turning his back on his long-lived brethren to embrace the ephemerality of her existence?) and results in several pieces of furniture being destroyed. After this Armand has a blu ray of the final cut overnighted bc neither of them have ever seen it (even tho its available digitally) and they have a seven hour long conversation about whether Deckard is a replicant and what it would mean if he was which at some point turns into makeup sex but never stops also being a philosophical discussion of the themes of timeless Ridley Scott classic Blade Runner.

And in late 2018 Armand kept mentioning that there's this science fiction movie set next year to Louis like he expected him to be excited but Louis was too busy manipulating the stock market or whatever and he just didn't really get why it mattered- all scifi movies are set in the future Armand, and we're immortal so we're going to live to see all of those futures, you weren't like this in 1984 Armand - and Armand doesn't quite regret what he did but the loneliness cuts sharper than usual on New Year's 2019.

Don’t get me wrong, everyone is somebody’s fave and I’m glad for the people rooting for the underdogs/less popular characters that their fave made it but I find it kinda hard to believe that EVERYONE in Class A “made it” as a Pro.

Like, yes I know UA is the best hero school in Japan (certainly the most famous and revered) but that doesn’t mean the hero-success rate is a hundred percent

Nobody tried hero work for a while and then realized their passion/calling was elsewhere? No one got injured and had to take a step back? No one started a family? No one graduated but couldn’t keep up with the big leagues and eventually just settled for lower-level sidekick work or just quit heroing altogether?

With a dissolvement of the hero charts I might find it more believable but with the system left so intact as it is, the Pro Hero pool is more competitive than ever…

I get Horikoshi probably wanted to tie everything up with a nice little bow (was never gonna happen if the villains couldn’t be saved) but 20 (21 if you count Shinso) out of 20 becoming successful pros?? 🤨

Some debt collectors show up while the Stans are out of town and mistake Ryou for Stanely [Obviously he got plastic surgery after faking his death!] and then Ryou has to politely ask them to leave [ie: tossing them on their asses of their own accord, casually avoiding lunges and blows while commenting on the RARE VALUABLES available for purchase in this gift shop].

Speaking of those who Harry hates why does Harry never get in a row with them? You know he never tries to actually fight with them, unlike with Draco? Like with Crabbe and Goyle he kinda gets back at them because they are associated with Draco but Harry also hates Smith and Cormac but Harry doesn't pay much attention to them and if Harry has other students he didn't like

About Dudley too, why never fight back against him? Like I know Harry can fight back even to those bigger than him since he is able to pin down grown adults but why never to Dudley?

I think there's a couple of different factors we need to consider when wondering why Harry doesn't regularly get into rows with people other than Draco and one of them is definitely the fact that Harry is straight up not a violent or angry person.

I think a lot of readers think of book 5 Harry's temper and assume that he's a litigious person by nature but Harry's behaviour in OotP is an exception, in that it's motivated by force majeure:

Harry is just a teenager and he's not used to regulating the emotions he feels after the events of book 4, chiefly his grief (and guilt) over Cedric's death

Throughout the book Harry is fighting against the powerlessness and helplessness he feels about a plethora of situations (he's instrumental to the whole Voldemort thing and yet no-one will tell him what's going on, he can't control his mind link to Voldemort etc. etc.) and that reults in a constant feeling of frustration

no-one will believe him about Voldemort's return, also Hogwarts is straight up hostile takeover-ed because of it

Another big reason why Harry doesn't get into regular fights with anyone other than Draco is that, at the end of the day, Draco is the only person who is constantly trying to get on Harry's nerves, like, that is the very purpose of his actions. One could argue that Snape is also deliberately antagonising Harry but there's a power differential there so there's a limit to just how openly Harry can oppose him.

Throughout the books, Draco and Snape are always mentioned in tandem when Harry is thinking/talking about his most hated enemies and in both of their relationships with Harry they are often the initiators of any conflict. Even with these two, Harry responds in kind but is almost never the aggressor, it's just not in his nature.

A good example of how Harry's first instinct in the face of conflict is never aggression is his approach to both Zacharias Smith and Cormac McLaggen.

Zack Smith is perhaps the closest we get to a second Draco in the books, in that he engages in some very Draco-like behaviour

This whole interaction is very Draco coded, starting from the way Smith speaks all the way to the language used to describe him. It's not a coincidence that Zacharias Smith is also a posh blond with a mean dad.

Smith also actively tries to antagonise Harry at times:

but we see time and time again that, with Smith, Harry doesn't rise to the bait. Another big reason why is that Harry's friend often do it for him:

Something that often gets overlooked is that Harry's close circle steps up to protect Harry in book 5 (though it's something that they, especially Ron, already tend to do). Harry is therefore less inclined to escalate the situation, especially because Zacharias does not respond in kind to Ron&co's aggression, unlike Draco, who derives psychic joy from aggravating Harry's friends.

While the Draco parallels are strong with Zach Smith, Harry's relationship with Cormac McLaggen is completely different, even though he's also a rich asshole:

The biggest difference between Draco (and Smith) and McLaggen lies in their character; in stark contrast to the two, Cormac is a Good Old Boy and a jock:

McLaggen also has a different approach to conflict, in that his aggressiveness is very physical

The Vernon comparison here is very telling yet Harry still doesn't respond in kind. It's notable that the only time Harry loses his cool with Cormac happens when quidditch is involved

Cormac by himself is not worth Harry's attention; we see that he is often dismissive towards McLaggen whenever the two interact, so fittingly the only time the two clash occurs when something Harry cares about is involved, because Harry cares about quidditch more than he ever does about Cormac. Still, Harry's ire subsides after the match and the two never interact again.

As for Dudley, that is a whole other can of worms I'm not prepared to go into at the moment because of the many different factors (childhood trauma, the fact that Harry is in hostile territory whenever he interacts with Dudley etc. etc.) that affect Harry's relationship with him; suffice to say that whatever Harry claims -and he does claim more than once that he sees a resemblance between Dudley and Draco- they are two completely different people and Harry interacts with them in a starkly different way.

Yeah I agree. I take a lot of the ec into consideration but some of it I can take it or leave it, and I also don’t have an easy way to consult it anymore since Nora took it down off of her tumblr so in all honesty. I just roll with it. Whatever’s canon is canon. Whatever Nora says is canon, obviously, but the ec is not apart of the main trilogy so I don’t HAVE to take it into consideration imo. I do, most of the time, but I’m not too worried about getting the exact details of things wrong just because it says something different in the ec

Why do I feel insecure about things that don't matter

Many people get a lot of implicit and explicit messaging from society and people around them about what they "should" be like and internalize it, even if it's not good or healthy or realistic.

Also, this happens especially to:

people that grow up in insecure environments,

people who have often gotten large negative reactions for minor transgressions,

people for whom attachment and connection feel unstable and unreliable,

people who have learned to be compliant people-pleasers,

people who have been told they don't matter or aren't good enough as they are

Not an exhaustive list!

Because these all lead to believing that you must be a very precise perfect way, and that operating outside of this ideal at all threatens connection.
