The Gods of Death know better than to mess with Sun Wukong. They're all too scared of him to even try killing him, haha. Not that they could if they did try, in any case. His name isn't even in the book of life and death anymore, it's quite literally impossible for them to take his life. Pretty sure that would make the Death Note ineffective on him even if he wasn't otherwise immortal.

In fact, while I do think he could solve the murders on his own - what with being the Intelligent Stone Monkey and all that - I think he'd probably just bully the Shinigami into telling him who the culprit is. That's just kind of how he operates. The Gods of Death are his bitches, Kira wouldn't last a day against the Great Sage Equal to Heaven. xD
