Remember the days of the old schoolyard? Remember when Myspace was a thing? Remember those time-wasting, laborious quizzes that everyone used to love so much? Birthday Cake For Breakfast is bringing them back!  Every couple of weeks, an unsuspecting band will be subject to the same old questions about dead bodies, Hitler, crying and crushes.   This Week: Ahead of releasing new album ‘Careful Of…

The voices of Gaza: Meet @aisha1928
Note: this is a series I’m starting where I interview people currently in Gaza and I write their experiences. This my first real article and interview so please bare with me.
Meet Aisha Rabah. She’s 42, is married and has eight kids, Muhammad, Gham, Karam, Jana, Tariq, Adam, Zain, and the youngest is Rami, who is four months old. They are in a very difficult situation in Gaza. Before, her family was doing well; Her husband used to work in a butcher shop. Her daily routine used to be house work, teach her children, and she watched tv in the evening. During the war, the shop got bombed leaving her husband unemployed. Their home got bombed, leaving them without shelter. Her husband got sick. Her daughter, Nagham, who was 22 and her husband, Mahmoud, 28, were martyred; leaving their son who was born during the war, Sami, with her family.
Their condition has only worsened. “There is no bread, there is bombing everywhere, even the ‘safe’ places are being bombed. My children cry because they want to eat, but the food is very expensive and my husband doesn’t work. My little son cries every day, wanting an egg and meat, and I cry with him, feeling sad for him.” Mrs. Rabah told me.
Her children who should only be worrying about school and their dreams have to worry about the next time they’ll eat and if they will have shelter the next day. They just want to be able to live in Gaza in peace. “I don’t want to leave my country; Gaza is beautiful, I have no other country like it”, she said when asked if she wanted to leave Gaza.

Please donate to help her and her family survive. No one, especially children, deserve to go through this. If you can’t please reblog and share this.

STATEMENT FROM THE ARTIST:
To anyone who may see this,
I don’t have a large following, I’m not a popular artist, nor do I have a large overall influence online. Despite this, I still exist online and I exist as an artist in this world. Although I have been trying to spread awareness through reposting videos/resources via other social media, it felt wrong to not make my own personal statement.
As of now, I don’t really have a career as an artist. I’ve yet to build one, but I have a lot of big dreams I hope to accomplish some day. And even with nothing to lose & everything the gain, it was still important to me to declare the following:
If you’re a person in the world today, you should know that Palestine and it’s people have been suffering from some of the most inhumane treatment I have witnessed in my lifetime. I’ve witnessed countess men women and children be brutally attacked without access or food, water & resources. It’s wrong, it’s genocide & it’s happening thanks in large part to the United States & it’s government. Listen to those who advise you to speak up, spread awareness, bear witness & never stop advocating for justice to prevail.
That is why, as long as I am an artist, I will stand with Palestine. I will not makes excuses for their torture on behalf of any country or company. If any and all money I ever stand to make as an artist is blood money, I’d rather have no money. I hope that anyone who ever comes across my art knows exactly where I stand.
If there’s anything I can do to “effectively” use my platform on this here internet is draw Sonic the Hedgehog, so be it. It’s fitting, my love for this character is what made me want to be an artist in the first place. What use would being an artist be if it wasn’t to spread a message I believe in? So here, I was inspiring by the cover of Archie Comics Sonic the Hedgehog Issue #236.
From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free.

This image is so funny to me because the modern day equivalent of this would probably be a officially licensed poster of sonic holding up a sign that says free Palestine

As much as I want to see Sonic and Shadow fight I also really want to see Tom and Maddie. They’re side characters at this point, but they’re still so important to this Sonic and the team’s development. Whatever hardships happen I need their parents to be ready to welcome them home at the end of the day

Tom is definitely emblematic of what I really dislike about the Sonic movies as an adaptation. Specifically who he is and how he relates to Sonic.
Like, no sugarcoating it, him being a cop fucking sucks. I know this. You know this. And that alone would be enough to hate the character, but there’s more to it for me.
Because its how that aspect of his character relates to Sonic. Because Sonic wants to be like him, he is Sonic’s mentor, he is one of the main “good guys.” As a cop.
Being cozy with cops is… antithetical to Sonic as a character to me. Not to say you can’t change parts of a character for an adaptation, but its one of the core things I enjoy about Sonic as a character. He is anti authority, he lives by his own rules and hates oppression. Having his role model be an enforcer or authority and oppression does away with that part of his character and makes him into a bit of a milquetoast superhero.
Do not get me wrong: Sonic is a hero. He’s a heroic person who helps people. But not in the way, not in the way they’re doing where they’re fitting him into a mold for an MCU esque character, y’know?

Just had myself in fully loaded critical thinking mode the entire way through this ‘investigation’. Like, what tf is a ‘routine welfare check for a missing person’? Where is the mention of all the information police had about these people (i.e. abuse, assaults, possession of illegal weapons, breaking of COVID-19 laws, etc). Why did they send a cop with EIGHT WEEKS EXPERIENCE into this property, when they had all this information? Why are the cops now trying to purchase the property? Where is the actual evidence that these people had any religion, let alone this being an extremist religious terrorist attack? In the footage of ‘right-wing neo-Nazi pro-Trump conspiracy theorists protesting COVID-19 policies’ where are the actual violent protesters? Because all I could see was police beating the shit outta people for no reason. Lizzy said ‘this trio dehumanised the police they had ‘ambushed’ so they could kill them’ but isn’t that what the government, government authorities, police, etc, do to the rest of us everyday? Dehumanise us so they can control us, steal from us, kill us? Like, something stinks here, and it’s definitely the Australian government and its usual subversive shit.
