The history of Mexican cuisine is as rich as its food’s flavours. The coming and going of various cultures helped create the Mexican dishes of today. Yet, tradition is held at its highest despite the evolution and refinement of Mexican cuisine through the ages.
Mexican food is regarded as an entire experience. It’s more than just a meal; each dish has a story to tell. After you learn about Mexican Food History, you’ll understand why UNESCO dubbed Mexican cuisine an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The brothers and the Human Realm
a/n: so ik ‘jealous much’ won the poll but it’s still not done yet so have this instead!
context: a part of me still finds lessons 40-43 funny because the brothers have never really been to the human world that much, and they don’t really know how certain things work. Take the slow cooker and ice cream truck for example. So these are little headcanons I have for when all of y’all are together in the beginning of their stay in the human realm.
enjoy <3 , also these are in no specific order
you all are hopeless…
Tumblr media
Solomon and MC would so fuck with the brothers while being in the human realm.
For example they’d take Lucifer to the shadiest mexican restaurant possible then after they finished eating they would tell the waiters it was Lucifer’s birthday and watch the Avatar of Pride sit there with a big ass sombrero on his head as they sang happy birthday to him.
MC later took a picture and sent it to Diavolo who then made it his lock screen.
Satan and Belphie tried to electrocute Lucifer by throwing a toaster in the bathroom while he was in the middle of a shower. This happened after the fact you told them not to put water on the toaster because it could electrocute someone.
Beel ate an entire bottle of ibuprofen liquid gels because he thought they were hard gummies.
Beel also ate the food and cake shaped wax candle melts you had bought for Asmo as a gift
Beel lastly ate your whole brand new container of melatonin and it knocked him out for 15 hours straight. Needless to say Lucifer was very concerned for his wellbeing, and Belphie soon questioned if you had anymore.
Belphie and his brothers were never taught stranger danger, because who in their right mind would be a danger to them in the Devildom?
So after you had explained to him what an ice cream truck was he vowed to go to one with you.
However when a creepy old man in a white van offers him candy he believes it to be the same as the ice cream truck so he gets in the van.
When the brothers relay this information to you, you begin to lose your shit explaining how that was not in fact an ice cream truck he got into but instead a kidnapper van.
The brothers don’t know how to eat certain human world foods.
Such as a banana, watermelon, mango, pineapple, kiwi, avocado, cherry, dragon fruit, papaya, onion, etc.
So when you first buy one from the grocery store and leave it out before cutting it they automatically think it’s some weird shaped human food and bite into it eating the skin or seeds and all.
After they tell you about the weird but delicious taste of it you ask if they cut it or spit out the seeds before eating it, and when they reply with a puzzled look and a no your heart drops.
Thank god they’re demons. You then proceed to buy the same thing again this time cutting it up in front of them so they know what parts to eat of certain things.
Expanding on the cherry part, did y’all’s parents ever tell you not to swallow watermelon or cherry seeds because if you did a cherry tree or whole watermelon would then grow in your stomach??
I know mine and some of my friends parents would tell us that when I was younger to make sure we didn’t swallow any seeds.
If they didn’t then oh well, anyway…
Continuing with Solomon being an ass, he would so tell something like that to the brothers. If he happened to see Beel swallow a cherry whole he would then proceeded to tell Lucifer not to let him do that.
And when the oldest asks why Solomon would then go onto explain that if he swallows cherry pit then a cherry tree will then grow inside his stomach.
Of course this freaked out Lucifer so for the next hour he tried getting Beel to spit out all the cherries he ate.
You would have to organize their fridge and pantry in the new house because they don’t know which human world foods need to be refrigerated or not.
After you arrive at the house you spent a good three hours explaining to them not everything can go in the pantry because some of it will spoil after you open it.
Then you proceed to gag when you pulled out an expired chunky milk container from the pantry.
They find the concept of drive thru or fast food places astonishing. The fact that you can just order wait in a line for a few minutes in your car then get your food is crazy. They do however all panic though when you get to the front and they don’t know what to order off the menu.
Car washes are also something they found themselves favoring. You would turn up the music as you slowly pulled in and joked by telling the brothers you were going on a ride of sorts.
Which in turn shocked you when they did believed you as the car wash stared. Each of them were staring out the windows with starry eyes as different colors of soap were thrown on your car.
You laughed to yourself as they all admired the way the soap blended together, Asmo and Mammon found themselves taking pictures of the whole thing. While Belphie was telling Beel how this looked like a starry sky.
And Levi went on to tell Satan how this reminded him of an anime scene. Lucifer also found himself sitting quietly in the passenger seat enjoying it too. (Lucifer is a certified passenger princess, fight me on that)
Each brother questioned you on how this was possible and you replied with smile. After the car wash was over and you drove through the dryers they all asked if you could do that again, to which you replied smiling “maybe some other time”.
Lucifer watered the fake succulents and plants you put around the house for two weeks straight until you said something.
They love watching true crime documentary’s to the point you’d have to physically pull them away from the tv.
It happened one afternoon while a few of them were relaxing in the living room and you were looking for a channel to watch.
Deciding there was nothing interesting on you put on an old true crime documentary and began watching it. As the brothers heard the story of the crime from the tv they each became immersed in it.
Telling you things such as “how could humans do that to each other?” or “wow humans are more brutal than we thought” or even adding in their own comments on how they could have made the crime worse.
It became a guessing game between all of them to figure out who killed who during each episode you watched.
Much to everyone dismayed Satan was the one who won every time.
Meanwhile while they were all immersed in the tv you noticed Lucifer standing behind you, arms crossed also watching tv. You told him to sit down and watch with all of you but he denied, claiming he wasn’t really interested in stuff like this anyway.
Yet he never moved from that same spot each episode.
Each of the brothers have made something explode in the microwave.
Lucifer stained it red when he went to reheat pasta, but he put it in for to long and it exploded. Mammon overfilled his ramen thus causing it to leak then explode.
Satan and Levi also happened to be reheating takeout at the same time, but both of the containers were styrofoam and exploded. Levi got annoyed and Satan threw the microwave at Lucifer.
Asmo put some skincare product in there because he found something online about a certain hack, and it exploded causing the microwave to smell like burnt strawberries.
Beel put too much food in the microwave causing it to all melt together then explode.
Belphie put a coffee in there to reheat and it exploded, but he was too lazy to clean it up so he just left it. Lucifer was then next to use the microwave and got coffee all over him.
You made all seven of them watch the entire twilight series as a joke but ironically they all actually enjoyed it.
Satan even went out and bought the books, and finished all of them in about 2 hours
Bonus
Solomon distracted Diavolo for 3 hours straight by making him watch 5 minute craft videos.
Diavolo then proceeded to break things to try these said crafts which caused Barbatos to have a meltdown.
Barbatos destroyed an entire sidewalk because he saw two rats run across it into the sewer.

Tending the Garden
Living by yourself on your little homestead gets lonely after your father's passing. And so, when you find a handsome wounded stranger alone and left for dead in the dust, you take pity on him. Oh, he'll leave again someday, you know that. Which would be fine—if only he wasn't so damned sweet.

Christ, not again.
“You better not be dead,” you tell the man lying crumpled in the dirt.
Tumblr media
He doesn't stir. With a sigh you put your shotgun on your back and crouch down.
Scrawny, filthy, and bloody. “What a sight you are,” you mumble, checking for a pulse. It's there, however faint. When you turn the man over you see a young, handsome face; black, half-long hair, a nose that's definitely been busted at least once, and a faint scar across his left eyebrow. He's wearing a tattered poncho, its colours old and faded.
You sling his arm over your shoulder and whistle for Copper, who obediently trots closer. As an afterthought you grab the man's sombrero and push it onto his head more securely.
“Alright, girl,” you soothe your horse while hoisting the man over her rear. “Let's get home.”
You were heading that way, anyway, your little hunting trip yielding two fat rabbits in the traps you'd laid out some days ago. You're not used to catching less, not yet; it’s only been a few weeks since your father passed.
Maybe that's what moves you to take the stranger with you—the strange bouts of loneliness that have plagued you ever since the funeral.
Fortunately the stranger isn't seriously injured save for the angry, fresh wound around his neck and some cuts and bruises. You wrap him up in poultice and bandages and put him in your father’s bed; the rest is up to him.
As for yourself, you set to skinning the rabbits and preparing the meat, curing it and hanging it out to dry to add to your stock of provisions in the cellar. Part of it you set aside to prepare for a late dinner, humming as your knife makes quick work of your home-grown vegetables.
It's a quiet life out here, in the middle of the grassy hills and patches of dense forest. Redwood's less than an hour away by horse, and you go there on occasion to sell your pelts and buy the few supplies you can't fashion yourself at the little homestead you've lived in all your life.
That said... since your old man died you have to admit you're struggling a little managing it all by yourself.
When you set aside the now finished stew on the old, wooden table you can see the barn from the window across you, and it's not in a good state. You've been meaning to get around to the repairs, just—after the funeral... it's been hard.
You eat slowly. The crackle of the fireplace, the clink of your spoon against your plate, and the familiar creaks of the house withstanding the blustery winds of spring are your only companions. Your potatoes are doing nicely; so are your carrots and onions. Might be time to get started on those tomatoes soon... Maybe squash this year, too.
You're pulled out of your musings when the door to your father's bedroom creaks open and two guarded, dark eyes meet yours.
You reach for the shotgun lying next to your plate. The man's eyes widen and he takes a hesitant step back. “’S alright, stranger,” you say. “Just makin’ sure you don't repay my kindness by tryna slit my throat. How you feelin'?”
Your tone is gentle, yet the man hovers near the doorframe, clearly unsure of how to proceed. He's undeniably of Mexican heritage; maybe he doesn't speak English too well? You offer a smile, patting the chair next to you. “You hungry? Food?”
His eyes light up at that and he nods.
“Alright. Take a seat and I'll get you a plate.” You stand up, strapping your shotgun over your back. Just in case. Don't you trust no one, girl, your father always told you. It's what's kept you alive until now and you're intending to keep it that way.
The man shuffles forward and slowly takes a seat on the hard wooden chair. As soon as you put a plate down he inhales the food in front of him with such gusto it draws a surprised laugh out of you. “'S that why you were lyin’ in the dirt out cold?” You shake your head. “Poor bastard. Well, eat your fill.”
You hand him water as well as whiskey, both of which he accepts graciously. Once he's polished his first helping and starts on the second, you ask him his name. He looks up, cheeks near bursting, and your lips quirk up. You gesture to yourself, introduce yourself, and then, with an encouraging raise of your eyebrows, nod to him.
“My name, Javier,” he says with his mouth full, pointing to his chest.
“Nice t’meet you, Javier.” You touch your own neck and pat your abdomen in the spot where Javier got an especially nasty cut. “How's that feelin’?”
He understands, mirroring you by touching his bandaged neck. “Thank you,” he says earnestly, his accent curled thickly around his words. Not exactly what you meant, but you'll take that to mean it's bearable.
You let him be, then, content to watch him eat until he's satisfied. When he's done your eyes linger on his dirt-stained fingers. Actually, forget his fingers—he's covered in grime from tip to toe.
“You wanna wash up? There's a water pump just outside.” When he looks at you uncomprehending you get up, scraping your chair back over the hard wooden floor, and gesture with your hand. “Come. Outside. What's it called—? Agua.”
That seems to land. He follows you, and once you work the pump to fill a wooden pail you leave him to it with a nod. After heading back inside you rummage around in your late father's meagre belongings and pull out a shirt and some jeans that will surely be too big on Javier. Well, at least they'll be clean.
“Javier!” you call out before rounding the back. “You decent? Got you some clothes.”
His voice carries back to you in some kind of affirmation and you step around the corner of the house. You're not quite prepared to see him shirtless, however, and for a moment your eyes linger on the expanse of his back narrowing into slender hips. You tear your gaze away from him the moment he turns, thrusting the clothes into his waiting still-wet hands. “Here.”
“Gracias,” he says, his lips curling in an appreciative smile. It strikes you then just how handsome he looks with his hair dripping wet and little rivulets streaming down the hollow of his neck. His dark eyes regard you with a curious intensity in the beat that passes before you excuse yourself and head back inside.
Javier returns looking much cleaner, sleeves rolled up around his forearms and jeans tucked neatly into his scuffed boots. He allows you to take his dirty clothes from him and you set them aside for tomorrow's washing. Then you gesture him to sit down, checking to make sure his bandages haven't gotten wet or displaced; but it looks like he was careful, and you don't need to redo any of your work.
“Rest,” you tell him before moving back to the kitchen to clean up the dishes. When he shakes his head and follows you to the sink you raise an eyebrow.
“Quiero agradecerte por salvarme. I help you,” he says, gesturing. You snort, pushing his hands away.
“Ain't nothin’ for you to do ‘side from sit pretty ‘nd heal up.” His brow furrows at that, and you smile, nodding to the kitchen table. “Why don't you sit and tell me what happened to you? Y’looked a fright when I found you.”
When he remains quiet you look back over your shoulder and see a shadow has fallen over his face, his shoulders tense and drawn up. You hum in understanding, drying your hands on a towel before leaning your hips back against the counter. “Where you headed next, then?” you ask gently. “You got someplace to go?”
He shakes his head, eyes downcast on his hands folded across his lap.
“Well. I could use a hand with the barn,” you muse. “Reckon I can let you stay a while if you help me out ‘round here.”
He looks up that, brows upturned in a hesitant, hopeful expression. “Stay?” he repeats.
“Sure,” you smile. “You help me, and you stay.”
With some rest and care Javier makes a quick recovery, and after a while of having three hot meals a day his strength returns. His scrawny figure fills into lean, wiry muscle, following your every request with an eagerness to please that never fails to makes you smile.
He helps fix the barn with you, and when that's done he moves onto a leaky part on the roof. He helps plant you tomatoes by day, and during the evenings you help him practice his English. You ask him to teach you Spanish in return. There are several times you both end up laughing by what essentially turns into a strange game of charades.
“Ah, cómo describirlo... You sit on a horse.”
“Ridin'?” you offer.
“No, no... The chair on the horse...”
You bite your lip to keep yourself from chuckling. “The saddle?”
“Sí!” a smile breaks through on his face, pleased you've understood. And so on. You talk about anything that comes up; the chores you do, the vegetables you plant, the animals you catch. You lend him the few books you have, once having belonged to your mother, and read to him while explaining the words best you can.
Javier doesn't talk about his past nor what he's running from, but that's fine. As long as he doesn't lead trouble to your doorstep a man has a right to his secrets. And though he clearly has moments where he struggles with a heavy sadness weighing upon his shoulders, Javier slowly becomes livelier.
Sweet spring air with its budding green things lifts your own mood, too. Weeks roll into months, and both of you settle into your comfortable new normal; for as long as it'll last. You don't know what Javier has in mind for his future, but you're assuming he'll probably want to move on from here at some point. It's what makes you force yourself to look away from the way he pulls his ever-growing hair back into a ponytail, forearms flexing when he ties it secure.
It's also to this end that you share your earnings from what you sell in town, insisting he has a right to it; it was a team effort, after all, wasn't it? It's a joy to see him look down at the money he's earned with his own hands, awe and gratitude lining his face.
Javier's not the best at hunting or tracking, but he takes to fishing, and you're happy your father's fishing kit will get to see some use rather than collect dust in a corner. He's skilled with a knife too, and your usual workload of skinning and cutting is easily halved.
“You know, I been thinkin',” you tell him one evening, seated across each other like usual on your couch. “’Bout getting some chickens. Lotsa fresh eggs every day. We'd have little chicks runnin’ ‘round, too. What you think?”
Javier nods. “We have to build a chicken house.”
“That's right, a chicken coop. You up for it?”
“Claro. Tell me when we start.”
It feels natural, to have these kind of idle conversations with him. To plan, to dream a little. With the rising temperatures Javier often works in the garden shirtless, his hat shielding his face from the sun. You're not sure if it's a blessing or a curse. Several times you feel the desire to reach out and smooth your hands over his skin, to taste the sweat a day's work has collected in the nape of his neck.
One time Javier catches you, and you're not sure he believes the half-coherent excuse you give him. Good Lord, you need to get yourself together.
There other moments where you swear lightning takes a hold of you. When you climb down the ladder from fixing the roof his hands steady your hips. When you pore over the English books he painstakingly works his way through he's so close you can feel his breath on your cheek. When you harvest the vegetables in your garden his fingers brush against yours.
Has it been that long since you've been touched?
It gets to the point you saddle up Copper to go into Redwood just to be away from him and the homestead for a day. You go out to town every few months to stock up on a larger amount of goods and supplies; you're on friendly terms with the general store's assistant, Jimmy, and he's always happy to drive you back with a wagon full of things to last you a good while.
Copper nuzzles your hand affectionately and you stroke her neck, slipping her an apple. Javier spots you and jogs over, smile bright. “Are you leaving?”
He's wearing a blouse today, the first couple buttons undone. His collarbones dip so beautifully along his shoulders, and when he wipes the sweat off his forehead the fabric stretches around his muscles. You swallow, mouth feeling dry.
This is the whole reason you have to head out. Clear your head. Talk to some other people that don't have glittering dark eyes and crooked smiles and stupidly attractive laughs.
You focus on strapping on Copper's saddle while you answer Javier. “Yep. Time to stock up on some things. I'll be gone for the day, so watch the house for me, won't you?”
“Of course,” Javier nods. “For the chicken house? Ah, coop?”
“That's right,” you smile. “I'm gettin' us the materials and some chicks to start out with. A rooster, too. So no more sleepin’ in late,” you add with a little grin.
Javier groans, but it's in good humour. “Monta con seguridad. Ride safe.”
“Always do.”
It's wonderful to feel the breeze on your skin as you ride, and once you reach town you find it was the right call. There's plenty to distract you, though Javier never quite leaves the forefront of your mind. When you get to the general store and greet Jimmy, who gets the catalogue ready for you to place your order, you can't help but add a few clothing items you think Javier might be in need of. You've noticed he enjoys taking care he looks nice, fussing with his hair and polishing his boots, and while your late father's clothes are sturdy and durable they don't possess a lick of fashionable flair.
A bandana, a vest, leather boots with finely stitched patterns, several blouses... You hardly notice how much attention you're pouring into it when Jimmy chuckles and nods to the pages you're so intently poring over. “Never thought that was quite your style, sugar.”
Your cheeks grow warm. “Oh—No, that ain't it. I've... Well. I got a wanderin’ stranger on my hands, and I feel obliged to him. Helped me out a lot, now that my Pa is gone and all...”
Jimmy's surprise melts into understanding. “’Course. You look like you're doin’ a lot better though—just be careful of strangers.”
“Don't worry. Ain't no one gonna get the jump on me.”
You pick out the rest of your items, and once you're satisfied you have all you'll need Jimmy tells you he'll start loading up the wagon for you. “I'll take a bit, sugar, so feel free to come on back in a while.”
You take the opportunity to sell your furs and take a stroll around Redwood, noting the subtle changes that present themselves after not having visited for a while. The saloon has a fresh coat of paint; there’s a new butcher in town. Stores have swapped out their previous goods for things more currently in style.
Behind one of the storefronts’ windows a fine, dark bowler hat catches your fancy, and you imagine Javier wearing it along with his crooked little grin. You exit the store only minutes later, feeling foolish and yet helpless when you imagine his delight at your gift.
After killing some time in the local saloon you find your way back to the general store, pleased to see Jimmy's loading up the last couple items. He helps you onto the front bench of the wagon, and then you're rattling off. Copper obediently follows behind.
“Saw you got some chicks 'n a rooster, miss. Think they'll do real well for ya...”
Jimmy's small talk is pleasant, and you're almost surprised at how quickly your little homestead comes into view again. It never fails to make you feel comforted, to see the squat little buildings and the garden nestled among the hills.
Jimmy insists on helping you off the wagon again; “You're a lady, I gotta treat you well,” and you allow him with a bemused smile. Only when your feet touch the grass again do you spot Javier from the corner of your eye, holding your shotgun and wearing a much darker expression than you're accustomed to seeing on him.
He slowly steps closer, dark eyes boring into Jimmy's hand still holding onto yours.
“Javier!” you call out with a smile. “It's alright, put that gun away, now. This is Jimmy; the feller I told you about.” You turn back to Jimmy, thanking him again for taking the trouble with the deliveries.
Javier's frown doesn't disappear, however, not even when you gently touch his elbow, asking him to take Copper to the barn while you unload. Jimmy hangs back nervously, eyes darting between you and Javier. He helps you unload quickly, and when you ask if he'd like to stay for dinner he shakes his head.
“I'd best be goin', miss. You take care now,” and with a tip to his hat the wagon rattles off again. You watch him leave, then turn around to raise an eyebrow at Javier.
“Ain't like you to be so unfriendly.”
Javier looks away, an unhappy frown tugging at his lips. “This man is touching you too much.”
You blink. “Jimmy? Oh, he's harmless. Known him for years; he's always been a good kid.” When Javier's frown remains you chuckle, gesturing for him to follow you. “Alright, alright. Come on, let's go inside. I got somethin’ for you.”
That piques his interest. “What is it?”
“Un sombrero,” you grin, then think for a second. “...Algo así.” Ain't really a sombrero, exactly...
“Algo así?” Javier's lips curl upward. “Me estás dando curiosidad.”
“Just wait till you see it.” The cool interior of the house feels wonderful after riding in the sun and you exhale, removing your hat and running your fingers through your hair in relief.
Javier obediently lets you direct him to sit on the couch while you sort through the boxes. When he’s presented with the clothes you picked for him you can hardly take your eyes off of him: Javier's whole face is aglow with delight.
“I might have to make some adjustments to make ‘em fit you well,” you tell him when he holds up his new blouses to his chest.
“Estos son maravillosos!” Javier beams. He's especially taken with the boots, his fingers tracing the delicate stitching. He looks up at you, eyes softening. His smile is a beautiful thing. “Muchas gracias, señorita.”
That damn fluttery feeling in your chest... “Now close your eyes, mister. Got one last thing to complete the picture.”
You're made to eat those words. When Javier obediently closes his eyes it's so tempting to reach out and put a hand to his cheek, to touch a thumb to his lips... It takes real effort to tear yourself away from these thoughts and instead open the hat box, unwrapping the bowler hat from its crinkling, protective paper, and to put it on Javier's head. His hair tickles the back of your hand as you do, and maybe you're imaging it, but you swear there's a little hitch in his breath when your fingertips graze his temple.
He looks every bit as dashing as you'd pictured. “Well, well,” your smile seeps into your voice. “Ain't you a fine-lookin' gentleman. Here's a mirror—open your eyes, señor Javier.”
He does, eyes widening in surprise and then crinkling in happy delight as he sees the hat adorning his head. He turns this way and that, admiring the fine make and material in the small mirror you're holding up in front of him.
“Tell me if it don't please you, and 's no hard feelings,” you reassure him, but that statement is met with such an indignant expression you laugh. Javier gets up from his chair, taking your free hand in his. His mouth curves into a sweet smile, and the fact that it's aimed at you warms your cheeks far too much.
“Cariño,” Javier murmurs, his tone one so gentle as you've not heard before. “¿Para qué es todo esto? ¿Para consentirme?”
You scrunch your nose, brows knitting together. “Them's too many words I don't know...”
To your surprise Javier lifts your hand to brush his lips over your knuckles. “You are very good to me.”
You let out a soft little “oh,” and when Javier's gaze on you lingers you fluster, pulling your hand from him and turning away, pretending to be busy with the few supplies still strewn across the kitchen table. “Well, I—I just couldn't bear seein’ you wear your clothes to rags ‘s all.”
All you hear in response is a little chuckle, but it makes you feel entirely too pleased.
“Do you go—often? In town?” Javier asks you over dinner. Mashed potatoes, summer salad, smoked rabbit. It's a lovely spread, garnished with the flavours of your little herb garden.
“Not often, no. Why? You miss Jimmy already?” you tease.
Javier wrinkles his nose in distaste, and you laugh. “I do not miss Jimmy.”
“Well, maybe you'll warm up to him. Most folk in town ain't too bad, really.”
“¿Te gusta él—Jimmy?” Javier's tone is casual, almost disinterested. But when you look at him he's awaiting your answer with the watchful eye of a hawk.
“Él es un amigo,” you reply easily. “A friend. My Pa was fond of ‘im too.”
Javier does a little “hm”, then goes back to poking at his food. You nudge his foot with your own, forcing him to look back at you.
“What's the matter? You were so happy earlier.”
“I am happy,” Javier rushes to reassure you. His hand reaches out to touch yours, and when you turn your palm up instinctively to catch his fingers he finally smiles. “Nothing is wrong.”
After dinner and cleaning up you sit outside, side by side. The air is finally starting to cool. Cricket song hums in the air, the dying light of the sun smattering its final red hues on the evening sky. You share a bottle of whiskey between the two of you, exchanging small talk about the garden.
When the conversation trails off you watch Javier, his expression serious and thoughtful, gaze resting on the horizon. Not for the first time it fills you with a strange, sad sort of feeling. He'll leave you here someday, and that day is bound to come sooner rather than later.
“Say,” you speak up. “We should get you a horse.”
It's almost like you want him to leave. Might be better if he did, actually. You're not in too deep, not yet—or so you tell yourself. You can still let him go.
“A horse?” Javier looks at you, smiling with intrigue.
You shrug, trying to appear casual. “Yeah. We could go out ridin’ together if you like.”
“I would like that.”
And so plans are made for a visit to a ranch just outside of Redwood. You weren't expecting to be returning that way so soon, but oh well. Not like it'll kill you.
...Actually, no, it might kill you. Javier's strong arms wrapped around your waist to keep steady when you mount Copper are going to be the death of you. He's already seated just behind the saddle, and the way he instinctively reaches out to help you up doesn't help the stutter of your heartbeat in the slightest.
A puff of his breath tickles your neck, and you're suddenly very glad he can't see your face. Lord forgive you, but his hands...
“Ready?” you ask, your voice coming out slightly higher pitched than usual. And when Javier murmurs “Ready,” close to your ear you have a hard time suppressing a shiver.
Thank God for Copper's easy and dependable nature, because even when you're more distracted than usual by your very attractive cargo your journey goes smoothly. Javier's dressed himself up in his fine new clothes, including his new bowler hat, and he polished his boots till they were shining.
When you arrive at the ranch he slips off Copper first so he can take your hand as you dismount. “Gracias, señor,” you smile, and he grins.
Your playful smiles slip when you see the way the ranch hand that's coming to meet you is eyeing Javier. In response Javier ducks his head, letting his hat cover his face in shadow and keeping his eyes to the ground. His tension is a palpable thing. You give the ranch hand a curt greeting, not missing the way his eyes flick between the two of you with wary apprehension.
“We'd like to take a look at your horses,” you say. Best to move the conversation along quickly, now. “Nothing fancy, for ridin’ 'nd workin’.”
The ranch hand eyes Javier. “For this greaser?”
Javier looks up at him for a second, brief surprise followed by muted anger. Christ. Of course he'd know that word without you having to teach him.
“For my friend. You mind your mouth, boy,” you tell the ranch hand in a clipped tone. The man gives you an odd look. You don't care.
“Alright then... Follow me,” he says, and though he makes no additional comments about Javier, the way the ranch hand glances back at him says enough.
“We'll be fine from here,” you're all too happy to dismiss him when he's led you to the available horses. Then, turning to Javier in a much gentler tone. “Alright, darlin'. You take a look and see if there's any you like.”
The endearment slips out so naturally you surprise yourself. If Javier notices he doesn't say anything; he just nods, focusing his attention on the horses. Poor man. Running from God knows what and then shunned because of his heritage.
You join Javier, watching him walk past the horses with a concentrated little frown furrowing his brow. When he stops in front of a grey-and-white American Paint he finally smiles a little, stroking the stallion's neck. He catches your gaze, and you nod encouragingly.
“Fine breed. Learns quickly. Just like you—but a lot more obedient,” you smile, eyes soft so he knows you're teasing. Javier turns his head to you slightly, the tension momentarily lifting from his shoulders. A little grin curls around his lips, crooking it in that way that lately never fails to make your heart skip a beat.
“Then I will take him.”
He pays for the horse himself, looking proud that he's able to. He shushes and pats the horse gently, telling that its name is Boaz, now, and if he'll be a good horse for Javier he'll get some treats when they get home.
Javier looks so genuinely happy with himself as he rides Boaz you can't bring yourself to mourn the loss of his arms around your waist. This is good; this is a good thing. He has clothes, money, a horse. Everything he needs to get on with his life and leave you behind as a brief but kind memory.
The two of you ride slowly, letting Boaz adjust to his new owner and to you and Copper. You don't talk much on the way home, letting Javier fill the silence with excited chatter about Boaz. The barn will just be perfect for him, plenty of space, and Javier is sure Copper will be happy to have a friend, too, and maybe once Boaz gets used to Javier he can race you, you know, friendly competition, but if he wins then maybe you could make that apple pie again?
“Claro,” you smile, feeling both wistful and endeared with Javier's boyish grin. The way his eyes light up at the promise of your cooking. “...I'm sorry ‘bout what happened earlier,” you add in a much more serious tone. “And I'm sorry if I should've left it to you. Ain't like I think you can't stand up for yourself.”
Javier shakes his head. “It is not a new thing,” he tells you. “Thank you.”
You wave your hand. “My pa always used to say people's people. Don’t matter what they look like—we all get hungry 'n thirsty 'n tired.”
Javier hums, seemingly pulled into deeper thought by your words, and the rest of the way home you ride in silence. You're not sure what's on his mind save for that he seems vaguely troubled, his mind miles away. Must be about his past.
You let him be when you get back, wanting him to have the space without someone prodding at him. He spends a lot of time with Boaz the rest of the day and you busy yourself with your own chores. But you eat together outside in the warm summer evening, as always, even if Javier's still caught in his pensive mood. You don't mind the silence anyhow. You look over the grass waving in the wind, the soft sounds of chickens drifting from their coop. Your eye rests on your garden with a mix of contentment and pride, and absentmindedly you let yourself be pulled into musings of what to plant next and where. Peas do well this time of year.
You startle when Javier starts to speak. “I came to America because I killed a man in Mexico.” You turn to him as he talks. His eyes are set on the horizon, softening orange and reds announcing the end of another day. “Powerful man. If I stayed everyone I loved would die. I was afraid when I got here—I had nothing except fear. I was starving. Weak. ...Alone.”
Javier looks at you, finally. His dark eyes are pained, grave. So that's what happened to him before you found him. You'd wondered, of course. The scar around his neck that he hides with his bandana. His wariness, his guarded gaze when he meets someone new.
So he killed a man. You wonder if you should be frightened of him—beautiful Javier with his sometimes sad eyes, who calls your chickens ‘ladies’ and who hums while he brushes Copper for you; who burns his fingers and his tongue because he's too impatient to wait for your pies to cool, and who fusses over the wrinkles in his blouses.
You can't bring yourself to be.
“I thought I'd die crossing the desert. I thought I'd be killed here—instead I was simply starving because nobody cared.” He puts his plate beside him, the spoon clattering against the ceramic with a soft clink. Reaches for your hand, hesitant, slow. “You cared.”
Without thinking about it you turn your palm upwards to take his hand, and his fingers hold onto you tighter when you do. Compassion and sympathy pinch your brow. “Then I'm glad I found you when I did.”
“You saved my life,” Javier replies. His tone is so soft, and it squeezes your heart. Oh, the soft feelings pooling in your chest—you can't, you shouldn't. You attempt a smile, trying to force levity into your voice.
“And you paid me back ten times over with all the work you done ‘round here.” You hesitate. Try to burn the feeling of the weight of his hand in yours into your memory. “...You're free to go where you like now.”
The way he smiles at you then makes you wonder if he understood what you meant, but somehow you just can't bring yourself to ask.

CHAVIER NATION ( composed by me and other 2 people i know ) TODAY WE RECEIVED A BEAUTIFUL GIFT
My dearest friend @lilithkan wrote a Chavier fanfiction for us and it's AMAZING
Tumblr media
They asked me to publish it myself so here we go with a little highlight from me ( What did Bill do? Just read ;)) , comments and feedbacks are very much appreciated! Enjoy
Just for the ladies
Words: 1,597
Characters: Javier Escuella, Charles Smith, Bill Williamson
Rating: T
Warm flickers of flame from the candles created miniature light shows, while the popping noises from the bonfire created a peaceful atmosphere. It allowed the gang to have a calm evening, some of them were gathered at the table, but our attention is going to be next to the fire itself, where a couple of cowboys were sitting idly.
<<You want another drink?>>
Said Bill in a hoarse but playful tone, offering another one to Javier. Both their noses and cheeks were reddened by the effects of the tequila they were drinking.
<<O-of course, compadre!>>
Replied Javier, his tone of voice still cracking from laughing at a previous joke the two shared. Apparently… Bill thought that Charles, simply… Dressed terribly. Javier initially snickered at the fact that it was Bill Williamson, not exactly known for being well dressed himself, saying so about the hunter… But maybe the Mexican could lend the dark-skinned man some clothes and he wouldn't look too terrible as well.
As if it were foretold by fate… Or as they say, speak of the devil: Charles walked up to the bonfire, to then sit next to it, on a log. The mixed man had a plate of soup in his hands- apparently Pearson must've served dinner.
As Bill was pouring Javier another drink, the man currently wearing a sombrero turned to the hunter, who was idly minding his business, as usual. But the Mexican's inhibitions were partly gone due to the beverage he was drinking. So, as he sided towards Charles, Javier spilled some tequila on the ground due to the speed of the movement.
<<Hey! Don't waste it!>>
Bill's voice cracked, as if almost saddened by the waste. It did cost a lot, after all.
<<You know, the ladies said you'd be a catch if only you dressed a little better.>>
Javier said, with a small smirk drawn on his lips, implying subtly as a teasing joke to Bill that he was one of the “ladies”, due to reasons clearly unbeknownst to him. Bill didn't really seem to mind, either ignoring the joke or simply… Not understanding it.
<<Huh?>>
Replied Charles, barely looking up from his food.
<<I could dress you up a bit, see how you'd look with a more… Thought out, outfit.>>
Added Javier, his tone was genuine due to the fact that the thought of actually dressing the other up like a doll seemed kinda… Fun, unlike how it felt just a moment before when he was laughing at the idea.
Javier took a couple sips from the remaining tequila in his cup, and brought it quickly down on the log he was sitting on, with a thud.
<<What do you say, you in?>>
He then asked openly, leaning forward to the other a couple inches. Charles looked at the man in front of him, then the other behind him, catching a glimpse of him drinking… Once again, his gaze was on his food. He took another bite, to then slurp the remaining soup.
<<Sure. Why not.>>
Replied Charles, his tone of voice low and serious as usual- as if the situation needed his usual dire manners. And with that, the three got up and, as the two drunk ones in particular left a trail of little snickers behind them, they all got to where Javier slept. His stuff was neat and tidy, in contrast with most of the others’ things around there.
<<So, what are you thinking, Charles?>>
Javier asked, his voice modulated and fluctuating, almost rhythmic as if he were singing a song in his head and instinctively imitated its sound with his tone.
<<Nothing fancy.>>
Replied the hunter, his only wish being to not be ridiculed.
<<Oooh, but we wouldn't dream of that, now would we?>>
Said Bill, his voice was made more accentuated and a little dramatic by the alcohol in his veins.
<<Ugh.>>
This was Charles response- and with that, the Mexican began looking around his stuff, to then take out a white shirt, black pants and a blue jacket. Then, he lent them to Charles, with a playful and slightly mischievous grin drawn on his lips.
Charles’ expression was hardened, but it softened just a moment as the sight of a Javier that seemed just so… Excited, about something. Something that stupid, might he add. So, a light hint of a smile was drawn on Charles’ lips as he took the clothes in his hands.
_______________________________
<<¡Ayy! Soy estúpido, dìos mio.>>
Javier looked at the button on the ground. One of his best shirts, damaged because he didn’t think about the fact that Charles’ body type was… Different from his own.
And oh, he sure did notice that the buttons were having difficulty holding on, but he didn’t really mind the sight. And got distracted by… Definitely, nothing in particular. So, the thought of making him change back didn’t even cross his mind… And now, as Charles looked kind of embarrassed, Javier didn’t hold back the jacket he was keeping for the hunter, and on the contrary, he held it out for him to take.
<<With your chest out like that you’ll definitely attract alllll of the ladies.>>
The Mexican commented, somehow trying to lift up again the mood, but kind of in a clumsy way.
Charles’ lips curled for a moment in a small grimace of confusion, but his expression quickly turned back to his usual harsh one.
<<Are you sure? I may ruin this too.>>
The hunter said, his voice rough, referring to the jacket Javier was lending to him, ignoring his comment. The Mexican brought back the clothing attire for a moment, to look at Charles with a raised eyebrow. He then rolled his eyes and brought back up the jacket towards the mixed man.
<<Sì. Take it.>>
And with that, the hunter took the piece of clothing the other was lending him, to then put it on- only one arm, as he immediately felt that it was way too tight around his forearm.
Charles looked at this, then raised his sight back up to the Mexican as he heard Bill’s laughter in the background at that ridiculous sight of a giant man trying to wear smaller clothes. Charles groaned lightly, as Javier looked at that sight as well- but his expression wasn’t one of mockery as the bearded man’s, it was one of awe. The hunter had quite the defined muscles, which you could clearly see underneath the tight clothing.
<<Fuck this.>>
Said Charles, feeling mocked by the both of them. He took off the jacket and then the shirt, quickly putting back on his own blue one and walking away.
Javier looked at the mixed man as he did this, a disappointed look drawn on his face for a moment, then one of slight frustration. He looked at Bill, to then give him a slap on the back of his head.
<<¡Idìota!>>
Bill looked confused as Javier stormed off as well, walking up to Charles.
The hunter got to the side of the camp, looking at the trees, right behind Arthur’s tent. Javier got up to him, stumbling around due to the still lingering effects of the alcohol flowing in his veins.
<<Came to make a mockery out of me some more?>>
Said Charles, his arms crossed.
<<Just wanted to say that it's not exactly nice to leave that way without even saying bye. Loved the scene though, seemed like a teenage girl.>>
Replied Javier, his tone still mocking for some reason even though he literally went there to say sorry on behalf of Bill.
<<I’ll take that as a yes.>>
Said Charles, to then begin walking away again.
<<No, espera->>
The Mexican said, landing his hand on the other’s shoulder. He turned back around, looking at him with a slightly raised eyebrow.
<<I’m sorry for Bill’s behavior, Charles. But don’t mind him, he’s just an idiot, he doesn't mean any harm.>>
<<But you were mocking me too. I saw your little smile.>>
<<...Me?>>
Javier tilted his head slightly to the side, looking confused.
<<I didn’t and I wouldn’t->>
I mean, he would make fun of someone, but not Charles. Javier respected the hunter too much.
<<Yes you did. Don’t take me for an idiot. You thought I looked so ridiculous with your clothes that you became speechless.>>
<<I was just in… Awe, at… You have a great body, you know that?>>
Suddenly, Charles’ cheeks reddened but for a moment, drawing on his face a confused and surprised expression for the length of time of a flicker of the eye- easily missable.
<<Huh?>>
He couldn't say anything else. And because of that, Javier’s cheeks became red as well for a moment. The two of them could thank God that it was night and neither of them could see the other well.
<<We could… You know, go shopping instead. Buy some clothes that actually fit you, you know?>>
Said the Mexican, bringing together his hands for a moment out of nervousness, but hit them together instead of playing with them or anything of the sort.
The hunter moved his eyes around, looking for God knows what. Probably Bill, thinking that this might have been another way to make a fool out of him. But he didn't see him, and Javier seemed oh so genuine in his proposal. With a light grimace drawn on his face, Charles sighed, looking down for a moment, but quickly raised his sight back up at Javier.
<<...I’d like that.>>
Replied Charles, with a light smile finally drawn on his face.

Javier Escuella as a Vampire HC because I’ve been thinking about it recently
He would be so refined with drinking blood, I’m talking like drinking it from a wine glass
Javier would also be so picky with blood
He only drinks A and B
You can feed him AB, but he’s going to tell you that it tastes bad (like a weird food combo)
Javier doesn’t drink O type because he thinks it tastes watered down (since O is the universal donor)
He definitely started the rumors of the Chupacabra
He doesn’t kill you like a normal vampire
He prolly shoots you in the forehead
Then wrings you out like a towel for the blood
Or if he’s desperate he will just bite your neck
Javier already wears a lot of clothes that cover his skin so it’s not unusual to see him completely covered up during the day
Most of the time he slaps on a big ass sombrero to protect himself from the sun
Javier definitely carries around a little napkin to wipe the blood off his mouth when he’s done feeding
Javier tries to play off his vampire habits as Mexican Culture just so he can keep his cover
“No, no, no, Mexican’s drink blood on a full moon because… uhhhh… it’s our culture!”
Everyone at camp is just like “Yeah Javier is a little weirdo who doesn’t like the sun. He’s kinda kinky and talks about neck biting a lot”
A few people know that Javier is a vampire, more specifically John, Dutch, Micah, and maybe Arthur
Javier specifically told Dutch because he’s loyal to him
He told John because they are best friends
Micah knows because they drink together and Javier is a gossip girl when he’s drunk
Arthur knows because Javier told John not to tell anyone and John told Arthur

- ALMOST EVERYONE ON SERVER COMING TO WATCH AND HYPE IT UP?
- this entire sequence is. something. it includes valuable life lessons, bad translations of portuguese sayings ("lower your balls", "breast me" 💀), bobby and richarlyson exchanging insults, parkour, forever beating the bad father allegations
- things get TENSE with the richarlyson/bobby rivalry since bobby kept trying to steal the spotlight and be a nuisance
- as a final test, they followed richarlyson around in a cave until he found his first diamonds
- quackity is apparently trying to get a higher percentage of richarlyson's custody ? stay tuned for updates !

- cellbit is joining them on investigating what's going on with the island
- (guys cellbit is so excited about this. it's exactly his type of stuff since he used to do vídeos on args and stuff like that. he was also planning on doing something similar himself on the server)

Mexican Hat
Ratibida columnifera
I found this lonely blooming Mexican hat plant gleaming like a beacon light amongst a sea of non-native, invasive teasel growing in a dry, disturbed, almost waste-like land near Interstate 55 in Missouri.
This sombrero-resembling prairie coneflower is native to North America, where its historic native range primarily spanned the Great Plains and surrounding areas to the west, to Missouri on the very eastern edge of its adventive range. However, there are now naturalized populations east of Missouri. It's commonly grown in gardens and can escape from them. This species prefers dry, sunny habitats such as prairies, savannas and some disturbed areas with well-drained, neutral to alkaline soils. Its flowers provide food for an array of insect species, including bees, beetles, moths, wasps, and many more.

"I’m taking you out tonight, so I recommend you dress up because the first date never gets forgotten"
As the time draws near, you feel a mixture of emotions. On one hand, you're happy that you get to spend time alone with him, but on the other hand, you're nervous because you've never been on a date with him before.
Standing in front of your closet, you try to decide what to wear. You want to look your best, but you also want to be comfortable. After much deliberation, you settle on a black skirt and a red top. You leave your hair loose and apply some simple makeup - eyeliner, mascara, and a touch of blush - to complete your look.
As you make your way to the living room, you catch sight of Chris, looking more handsome than ever. He turns around and looks at you, and you can't help but feel a little shy. Nick, Chris's brother, is sitting on the couch, watching Love Island. "So, are you two going out or just staring at each other all night?" he jokes.
Chris grabs the car keys, and you follow him out to the car. This time, he's driving, and you take the passenger seat. You immediately start scrolling through your Spotify playlist, searching for the perfect song. As you drive to your destination, you sing along to the music, feeling Chris's hand on your thigh every once in a while, sending shivers down your spine.
Finally, you arrive at a cute little taco restaurant with a Mexican theme. The interior is decorated with sombreros and colorful artwork, and lively music fills the air. You settle in and order your food, enjoying the ambiance of the place.
As you're eating, two young girls - probably around 13 or 14 years old - approach your table. They seem a little nervous but excited to meet you. They tell you that they're big fans of Chris and ask for a picture with him. Chris happily obliges, and you can't help but feel a little proud to be sitting next to him.
"Hi Chris! Can we take a picture with you?" one of the girls asked, beaming with excitement.
Chris smiled warmly and nodded. He posed for the camera with both of them, while you sat at a nearby table, watching the exchange. The other girl turned to you and asked, "But are you two together?" Her words seemed to hang in the air, as if everyone was waiting for your response.
Chris looked in your direction, seeking your consent, even though he had previously kept your relationship a secret. You returned a warm smile and he responded, "Yes, she is my girlfriend." With those words, everyone seemed to relax, and the air was filled with a sense of happiness and contentment.
They both looked at you and exclaimed, "You are good together! You are so gorgeous. Thank you so much again for the photos." Their words were kind and sincere, and you felt a sense of gratitude wash over you.
As the girls headed back to their table, you couldn't help but feel a deep sense of connection to Chris, and a sense of joy at the exchange that had just taken place.
''Damn.. I just made our relationship official'' he says laughing a little ''I’m glad you want to get involved.. I know how you feel and knowing that we’re taking a step forward makes me proud of you'' you talk while you take his hand and weave your fingers, and he in all response approaches kissing the back of the hand.
The rest of the night was wonderful. The food was delicious, we laughed a lot, and Chris kept looking at me in a way that made our relationship feel official. What more could I have asked for?night so much th We enjoyed the at after finishing dinner, we went to an ice cream shop to get a tray of ice cream to share on our way back home.
As you enjoy your favorite taste Chris’s hand moves from your thigh more and more to the side of your underwear, so unexpected that you are soon choking on ice cream.
You turn to him and find him looking down the street with a mischievous smile on his face. His hand continued to trace circles in your inner thigh, moving over the fabric of your panties. This gesture only made you shiver as you felt that you were slowly starting to get wet.
Only when parked in the driveway of the house take off his hand getting out of the car, the same action you do so you take his hand and drag him inside the house, heading immediately to his room.
Once inside you take his face kissing him with enthusiasm, your tongues immediately stick in the mouth of the other, and from the moment you can not hold back a groan, a thing that doesn’t go unnoticed at Chris ''Uh you’re so needy'' he says whispering in your ear with his hand holding your breast, and you in response moan yet
''Please'' you say with thin voice ''Please what. tell. me. now. '' asks you kissing your neck ''Please i need you'' reply throwing your head back
So as you keep kissing, you head to the bed, where Chris starts taking off your skirt and top and leaving you alone with your panties on, you undo his pants while he takes off his shirt;
He gets on top of you and you keep on kissing, meanwhile, your hands go in your pants and the other starts playing with your weak points. Between one kiss and the other from yours, I do nothing but groan of approval.
Slowly Chris goes down to the height of your breasts and starts sucking them leading you to arch your back and making you collide in your hips ''Christopher please do something'' you say closing your eyes needy ''Oh god I love when you call me with my entire name'' says taking off your mutant to then lower with his head between your thighs starting to kiss your wet lips while with two fingers enters inside you doing slow movements ''This- uh - is so good'' you say by putting your hands in search of something to hold on to.
His kisses are replaced by his tongue coming to your entrance coming to suck the liquid that slowly came out ''Damn babe you are so good but don’t come now'' he says pulling himself up and showing his big erection under his underwear.
You also get up from bed and approach him by lowering them, to let out its entire length with already some juice on the tip, with a ready hand you grab it by putting it in your mouth and kneeling.
With both sides of your body start to make movements up and down, pumping more and more with Chris’s hand behind your nape so you go deeper and deeper.
In the room echoed only the short breath of Chris who arrived almost at the peak took away from all perfect lips, picked you up, and with a direct gesture slipped inside you starting to enter and exit while you kissed.
Everything was going so well, the passion that there was between you two was high enough to finish the act by coming both at the same time in bed.
One thing you noticed every time you made love was how Chris took care of you, you both went to the bathroom and cleaned up and then slept with him on top of you almost as if you didn’t want to run away.
''You make me feel good in every way, you make me a better man'' whispers with closed eyes, hugging you with his head on your chest ''I love you babe'' you say closing your eyes.

What is your opinion on Mexican rep in video games, like guacamelee, burito bison, or the "fiesta de los muertos" world from rayman legends?
I'm unfamiliar with everything you mentioned except for the Rayman levels, but I guess you also mean stuff like the Mario with a sombrero? I can't speak for all mexicans but to me and the people I've met and talked to about this stuff is just fun. I actually find it pretty neat, everytime I see a reference to Mexico I get excited, being it a festivity, the music, outfits, food, even just characters that are canonically mexican in media (depending what they do and how they are written ofc). I'll be honest though, even if Día de Muertos is a very meaningful festivity here, I wish more people used different Mexico stuff and not always that lol but I still enjoy seeing it a lot
Never expected to receive a question like this, it's pretty cool tbh, might check a bit about those other games

The Color Pink (Part 4)
The Noise's eyes were wide, and his pupils drifted slightly apart as he was lost in thought. He was nervous. He was still thinking about that girl and the fact that he asked her out. It was such a spur of the moment thing. He was afraid it was just another irresponsible decision he made on impulse. Even worse, he couldn't believe she said yes. Now he had to go through with something that he never really thought about. He only thought about her and the occasional visits to her, but now, they were going to have a one on one meeting.
"MISTER NOISE!"
The Noise shook his head and straightened his eyes out. "Huh? Where am I?!" A small Noisey with a baseball cap that said "director" on it was tapping its little foot.
"You're still on set, idiot," it yelled.
"Oh, right... Sorry."
"You're so distracted today. What's going on with you?!"
"I-I don't know. I'm just... spaced out? I guess... I'm not too sure..."
"Are you feeling sick or something?"
"Kind of... I feel a little queezy. My stomach feels weird."
"Maybe if you ate actual food instead of candy, you wouldn't keep getting sick. Now, get it together! We have several scenes to film today, and you were already late to begin with."
"Right, right, sorry."
The Noise walked up to a western-esque set. They were filming a western movie; The Loud Sound. Noise was quickly costumed with a belt, a vest, and a sombrero on top of his usual wear. A pig dressed as a cowboy and another dressed as a old-timey woman stood across from him. "Alright," said the director, "Porky, you're holding an innocent woman hostage as you're approached by our bounty hunter, Noise. He's been chasing you down for miles. You're tired, and this is your last stand. Noise, you've finally come face to face with the biggest bounty you've ever hunted. The money is enough to make you wealthy for life. However, he's one hell of a sharp shooter. You've met your match. You have to get both him and the woman alive or you won't get the bounty. Aaand, ACTION!"
"You might'a had me cornered," said the pig in a western accent, "but I ain't going down without a fight."
"Let her go, Pork Chop," The Noise responded in a slight Mexican accent. "I don't wanna hurt you."
The pig held a prop gun to the woman's head. "You only want the money! You don't give a damn about justice! You don't give a damn about her life!" He pushed his gun against her, and she let out a scream.
"Let her go, and you'll walk out of here alive."
"I'll be dragged out of here in cuffs and hobbles! You'll get the money, and eveybody's gonna think yer a hero! But you're nothing more than a greedy sum'a bi-"
In the middle of the heated scene, The Noise's phone began to ring in the distance. "CUT," yelled the director. "Are you KIDDING me?!" The Noise looked like a deer in headlights. He dashed towards his phone. He didn't recognize the number. Stupidly, he answered it, "Hello?"
"Hey," spoke a familiar female voice, "I know this seems like a long shot, but... Is this The Noise?"
"Yeah...?"
"Hey, it's Hazel!"
"Oh, it's you! Give me a minute." He put his hand over the phone to block the sound. He headed over to the director. "I gotta take this," he said, "it's uh... my doctor!" He ran out of the set and into the hallway. "Sorry about that."
"That's okay! I didn't mean to call so early. I kind of thought you were pranking me so... I wanted to make sure I got the right number."
He laughed. "I can see why you thought that."
"I hope I'm not interrupting anything."
"No, no, not at all!" He spoke as if he wasn't in the middle of work.
"I was wondering what sort of ideas you had for lunch. I mean, my cafe still doesn't serve food, so..."
"Well, what were you thinking?"
She giggled. "I wasn't thinking anything, I hoped you had an idea in mind."
"Oh. Hm... You know what? There's this neat bubble tea place in The Pig City that has really good food."
"I love bubble tea! I didn't know there was a place to get it in the tower."
"Yeah, it's great. They have ramen, dumplings, macarons, rolled ice cream, all sorts of cool stuff!"
"That sounds great! So, when were you thinking we go there? I'm free all evening."
"I'm sort of at work right now, so-"
"What?! You said I wasn't interrupting anything!"
"You aren't! It's sort of a slow day today."
"I'm sorry."
"Don't apologize! We can still make the plans."
"Oh, okay... So then when were you hoping to go?"
"How about tomorrow afternoon or the day after?"
"I can do tomorrow after I close the cafe."
"Cool! 3 o'clock sound good to you?"
"Yeah, that's perfect!"
"Okay, see you then!"
"Yep! Now get back to work!" She laughed.
He chuckled. "Alright, alright. If anything happens, just give me a call."
"Okay, bye!"
"Bye."
The Noise walked back into the set. Everyone stared as he entered the room. "Sorry," he apologized, "I got some bloodwork done. My doctor was just calling to tell me everything's good." The director noisey rolled its eyes. "Whatever, Noise. Put your phone on silent and get back in the scene! We are NOT working overtime today."
