fun fact, i actually hated shin when i first started yttd, not his character/writing i just thought he was a little shit

anyway i fell in love with him literally overnight as soon as the scene where sara can high five him occured. that literally altered my brain chemistry because in my head i just immediately went.... shin is Literally saras olrer brother wow...... and i became obsessed with him since. and then literally in the next trial i had to kill him

Ok you know what I'm glad Maya called Taichi out for his shitty notes. Like look I love Taichi, he's babygirl yes, but I can not lie when he disregarded the administrators recommendation for note taker training I was pretty annoyed. Likee it ended up being fine because Kohei is a good student but I feel like it was really belittling to the job the way he waived her off. And come on he was objectively bad at it!!! Kohei would ask him questions and Taichi himself could not decipher his notes.

Now you find out that in this whole university there are less than 30 note takers, so resources are limited. I'm sure Kohei explained in a nice way how Taichi was not trained etc, but Mayas indignation is fully justified to me. I would be livid to think that another person similar to my situation was having to deal with someone so inadept at their job. The extra work they must be doing that they shouldn't have to because that is what the note taker is for! And what if a person with a worse condition had to deal with that?

Musical Touken Ranbu: Tsuwamonodomo ga Yume no Ato english sub

A passion project if there's ever been one, it's been a longstanding want of mine to finally do this! Needless to say, Tsuwamono and everything it meant is still my favourite plot from Toumyu! I love its character-driven and intricate writing, its heartrending acting choices, as well as the way it invites one to think about what characters think and why, and why they do or don't (dare to) do the things they do.

However, another important reason that I'm letting myself indulge in this, is that recent Toumyu has taken a turn away from this plot, changing the way how Mikazuki is framed, tying different characters to themes that were tied to Kogitsunemaru, and put those characters into roles that would originally have been most natural for Kogitsunemaru to follow.

In that light, then, I hope that these subtitles will allow you to see, even if it's just the smallest sliver, what I loved in Toumyu's take of Kogi and Mika up to and including Kotobuki. To see that it was beautiful. Because I think it was. 💙💛🌙🦊

Keep in mind that the files in the folder below are only the subtitle files, timed and tled to the blu-ray and DMM senshuuraku distribution. The folder also includes a pdf with translation notes, some background information where I felt it would add, and just a little bit of eager gushing about the references made.

hey can we talk about kiryu being fucking awful at disguising himself? just really bad at being discreet in general like

he shows up to events (i.e. the funeral in yk1, y7) "in disguise", which is actually just a different suit + sunglasses (to some extent i get that when you wear the same suit for 20-30 yrs to the point where ppl impersonating you include it, wearing a different suit might be legit good enough but. come on man. clark kent ass)

in y5 when he moves away from morning glory but keeps wiring them money and haruka's like "jeez dad. you're really not good at this"

and then he also chooses suzuki as his fake ID taxisona name, which is literally the fake name saejima used in y4. i mean there's no reason NOT to steal it but it feels a little lazy

in y6 the several times he goes into smth with a ski mask on for discretion and then takes it off for literally no reason

in y7 when he reveals he's actually alive and saejima and majima are BOTH like "oh finally. we knew you weren't dead lol"

in the trailer for gaiden when he's like working undercover and his codename is joryu. like aye good thinking babe they'll never catch you now

in y8 his hair's gray and ungelled and he wears different clothes and (assuming he hasn't fully retracted his fake death) this is still his idea of disguise. not dyeing his hair and letting it lie flat/dyeing it gray/getting a wig that makes the top of his head look slightly too tall. as a possible disguise he's improved but like. not beyond halloween office party levels y'know
