SPEAKING OF all the voice actors are amazing. Blake Roman, Brightman as Pentious and Joel Perez were the ones I was the most worried abt but I loved all their preformances so much it was fucking fantastic

Those scenes with Angel and Valentino where so fucking visceral... like. Who the fuck wrote that. Who are you. Are you okay. Do you need help-
Tho I'm not sure abt how they're handling the ah- more serious bits of Angel's character. It is WAYYYYYY to early to tell and I think Loser wasn't like. Trying to downplay the situation. But the writers better have been careful moving foreward bcuz I can def see a world where Angel's arc goes very wrong very fast-
Also while we're criticizing: wasn't a fan of the pacing. Especially in episode two. Like I can look past it, but the way they breeze past some plot points kinda bugged me

Alastor was a lot less prominent of a character then I thought he would be but tbh I think that's for the best. He's like Discord from My Little Pony, fun in small doses but if you don't set perameters for how often he appears and when he's willing to help it kinda breaks the show
Chaggie is adorable and I love them <3
I think this show does a really good job balancing the focus on the whole cast! These first 4 episodes seem to be pretty Charlie, Angel and kind of Vaggie heavy but everybody still gets their fair share of attention!

Ranking Hazbin Hotel Songs (S1)
I’m seeing people do this on TT, but I don’t like posting on there, so I’m posting my list here instead. Obvious warning, but these are my own personal opinions. I think all of the songs are absolute bangers, but there are some that are better than others, so keep that in mind.
16. Welcome to Heaven
Pretty much the general fandom consensus. It’s not a bad song, and I like Darren Criss as a singer, but it’s too short and doesn’t do a whole lot for the plot.
15. Finale
This might be a pretty hot take, but I’m not that big of a fan of the finale. There are some parts that I like individually, but as a whole song, it doesn’t do it for me. It’s still good though.
14. Hell’s Greatest Dad
I think this one is the one that’s gonna upset a lot of people, but I really don’t vibe with this one. No, it has nothing to do with Mimzy. In fact, I actually like her a lot, but that’s besides the point. I’m not a huge fan of talk singing, and that’s what both of Alestor’s songs are, so they aren’t going to be very high. Not even Jeremy Jordan can save this song.
13. Stayed Gone
Again, I’m just not big on talk singing. I like this one just a bit more because I like Christian Borle’s voice as a talk-singer just a bit more than Jeremy Jordan.
12. More Than Anything (Reprise)
This is a really cute song! I wish we had more Chaggie moments in the show, but I’m glad we got this. It would be much higher, but I don’t like how short it is.
11. It Starts With Sorry
Idk why so many people hate this song. It’s so cute! Charlie’s voice is so good, and I like the lesson Sir Pentious learns. It gives off children’s show song, but in a very good way.
10. Out for Love
Carmilla my beloved! I am obsessed with her. I like how she taught Vaggie in this song. Again, my only real problem with it is how short it is. Idk why they made some of their best songs so short, but I need a longer version.
9. Happy Day in Hell
I am a big fan of introduction songs in musicals, and this is a perfect example of why. It’s a nice way to see Hell, especially through the optimism of someone like Charlie. It’s silly and upbeat, and I like that a lot.
8. Poison
I love this song so much! Blake Roman did such a fantastic job with his performance as Angel. I’m not usually a big fan of this particular type of pop, which is why I have it a bit lower, but I think it fits well with what they were going for in writing this song. It’s absolutely perfect.
7. Whatever it Takes
I need these two to have another duet at some point. Their voices fit so well together. Both of their individual parts are also very solid. All around just a good song.
6. You Didn’t Know
I blast this song at least once a day. My fave part is Lute, and I wish we got more of her singing voice this season. Jessica Vosk is so talented, so I hope we get more in season two. Obviously, Charlie and Emily’s part is also amazing, and I like Sera’s parts as well.
5. Hell is Forever
Ah yes, my favorite Christian rock song. Seriously though, this song is so good. It’s most similar to the actual kind of music I listen to, so of course it’d be pretty high on this list. It’s a good intro to Adam and the angels in general, and it slaps.
4. Respectless
Velvette might actually be one of my favorite characters. She, for sure, has my favorite design of any character, and she might have my favorite female voice as well (tied with Lute). Also, she was so real for what she said to Carmilla. Her voice is just very fun to listen to.
3. More than Anything
Jeremy Jordan is the reason I live and breathe. His voice is literal honey. He and Erika Henningsen harmonizing has brought new meaning into my life. I may not have daddy issues, but I think this song healed them anyway. It’s so cute.
2. Ready for This
I’m a sucker for a good rally song, and this is exactly that. Cannibal Town is also my favorite location of any place we’ve seen, both in Hazbin and Hellava Boss, and I adore Rosie. The cannibals were very funny in this number, and I like that Charlie was able to gain some confidence.
1. Loser, Baby
I’m officially changing my brand to the #1 Huskerdust shipper ever. I’m so obsessed with them. This episode is tied for my favorite with Hello, Rosie! Keith David needs another song immediately, and so does Blake Roman. They sound so good together, and I can’t wait to hear more of them!

Roman rubbed his face a bit and shook his head "but, I will hand it to him. He puts a lot of care into the work he does. And, people seem to like it. As freaky as it is."
"I bet he could make an abstract sculpture out of- oh shoot- what is that cheese with the wax around it? That red wax. The red, cheese wax."
"Those are such a waste. Wax would never truly capture my greatness." Tone it down a bit, Willow. They can't make a statue for your ego as well.
"You may be better off demanding an abstract sculpture." She suggested "Abstractionism isn't everyone's taste, but it would save you from having to stare into your own cold, dead eyes as you pretend to appreciate it."
That would allow for a much larger project as well. Most cities seemed to enjoy having such eyesores in their squares.

Helllll yeah. Okay so a lot of these are gonna be "all right here's a pretty famous guy but did you know he was originally different and weird!" Folklore time let's goooooo
Honourable mention: All of Medieval Welsh Lit
This is a catch-all I'm using to stop all 5 of these entries from being this because I gotta cover places like Turkey and Ireland. There's still a couple dw. But there's so many more like Rhiannon, world's most magical snarky part-time ponygirl; Macsen Wledic, who everyone wants to be their ancestor, or wait this is a reflection of the historical would-be Roman emperor Magnus Maximus; Mabon ap Modron, world's specialest boy who does fuck all Oh Wait this is an ancient deity who was syncretised with Apollo? Neat! Okay actual entries Go
5. Robin Hood
This is a prime case of "in the original version..." I'm actually a big fan of the earliest medieval Robin Hood ballads we have, they're very fun bouncy little adventures and the middle English is just comprehensible enough that I can alternate between reading the original text and the translation. Did you know that it took a couple centuries for Robin to be turned into an exiled lord (to make him more palatable to a noble audience when they started making plays about him, he originated in songs and performances at country fairs), and he was a commoner fucking with the king before then? And that despite how much a "modern twist" it seems, Marian (who might have started as an unrelated character with her own adventures) beating him in a fight actually pre-dates the nobleman thing!
4. Battal Gazi
The absolute lad. A pulp adventure style hero from medieval Turkish epics sourced from the Byzantine frontier. There's a real cowboy adventure vibe to these. And they got made into a series of campy adventure films in the 50s! And he defeated one HUNDRED Romans with EACH swing of his sword and EVERYONE clapped (for real I'm pretty sure he kills Charlemagne in one of these)
3. Taliesin
The secret main character of medieval Welsh literature and poetry! An actual historical poet of the 6th century who became so famous that later medieval writers would write legends about him having magic bardic powers, write poems in his voice...which makes it hard to figure out what he actually wrote! But what can be sorta confidently attributed to him mostly consists of praise poetry for the north-British king Urien Rheged, which is...maybe a little romantic? He always ends them with
"And until I fail in old age,
in the sore necessity of death,
May I not be smiling,
If I praise not Urien."
Which is nice. Urien is the sneaky other subject of this--he's also a really interesting guy halfway between history and legend, subject of a whole bunch more poetry and hegemon of his while region. His son, Owain, possibly fought in the famous battle of the Gododdin, was written as the leader of hundreds of giant magical ravens, and finally got absorbed into continental Arthurian legend as 'Yvain'
2. Cai the Fair
Speaking of Arthur! I'm a big fan of the original version based in Welsh folklore, a wandering warrior prior to his transformation into a chivalric king. Similarly, some of his knights started as companions of the original version, and my favourite is the counterpart of Sir Kay. In later and mainstream Arthuriana he's the jackass who exists to get clowned on to show how cool Lancelot or whoever is, but this is actually because he started off as Arthur's best guy, so in anime rival tradition, showing him up is an easy way to establish your cool new OC. The original Cai can grow giant, has both heat and cold powers, can survive underwater for weeks...he slays all kind of giants, fights a giant cat, and then he does one giant slaying in a slightly sneaky way and Arthur (who is sometimes called a "frivolous bard") sings a mean song about him and he swears never to help him again. Oops!
He's also a bit gay with it--he's often paired with Bedwyr (source of Sir Bedivere), they love questing together and swear by each other, Cai was heartbroken when he died...
1. CĂș Chulainn
The BOY. My GUY
The central hero of most of the Ulster cycle, you may know him from Fate. But the Fate version is less weird and less anime than the medieval version!! This CĂș is a weird little trans-coded twink with three-coloured hair, seven-coloured eyes, a bunch of named special moves and an epic duel to the death with his boyfriend.
He's such a fucked up little guy! He's the perfect product and also the perfect victim of the glory-obsessed warrior culture he exists in, he's driven to destroy himself and everyone around him by a constant terror of not being the best at all times, he's so...arrrrrgh. he's the guy!! He's an extremely bad person to be clear. I love him. Sometimes he gets so worked up into a warrior's frenzy he generates a flaming aura that can melt snow and has to be dunked in cold water to chill out! I have like three writing projects in the works that are basically "CĂș Chulainn for lesbians". Highest honour I can bestow

J2 Gold Panel ATLCon 2023
The boys are looking handsome wearing blue, and red đŸ„°
Jared brings up the Saturday night concert and asks the crowd if it was thumbs up or thumbs down, then he shares a quick story about how when he was in High School the movie, Gladiator, came out and his Latin teacher was pissed off because in the movie the Emperor gives a thumbs up to mean mercy and thumbs down to mean death but according to Jared's teacher realistically it would be the opposite thumbs up for death and thumbs down for mercy because it's supposed to be a representation of the sword.
Out of curiosity, I did look this up and while some kind of hand gesture involving the thumb was used scholars can't say definitively what this looked like because writers at the time didn't really describe it, and if they did we seemingly have yet to find their writings. So there's a lot of scholarly debate as to what these gestures actually looked like and meant in Roman times. The popular idea that thumbs down was involved and meant death is attributed to an 1872 painting by French artist, Jean-LĂ©on GĂ©rĂŽme, called Pollice Verso which depicts a gladiator asking for his life while the crowd gives a thumbs down. And that's your history lesson for today now back to our scheduled programming! 😅
Getting back to the panel, Jared mentions that there were times that were never printed where Dean would do an exorcism and Jensen would fumble on purpose, and Jared knew he did this on purpose and he would tell Jensen so and Jensen's reply would basically be 'yeah, but if I do it good they'll make me do it more, if i make it look like I can't do it they'll have Sam do it'.
And Jensen mentions what he called "his senior moment" which is that during the Saturday night concert he was singing Simple Man, and it's been so long since he sang it that he forgot the lyrics to the last verse. Backstage, prior to singing, he had the feeling this might happen because, again, it's been so long since he's sang it so the lyrics were printed out for him and placed in front of him on the floor but the font was too small for him to see them so when Jason Mann went over to him, he took his glasses and he said it was like the Matrix 😂
Getting into the questions, not gonna lie the first one is a weird one, but does Jensen remember the color of the belt and shoes he was wearing with the blue suit in his Man About Town UK photoshoot? He answers that he doesn’t think he had a belt on which gives us fangirl!Jared saying "easy access"...sir!
Anyways, Jensen thinks they were brown dress shoes. He says that in those photoshoots you walk in and there’s racks of clothing and generally a stylist and an assistant who will ask what you like, and he'll tell them that he doesn't know that they're the professionals so they just had him try stuff on and he wasn't really paying attention also he had like 12 outfit changes that afternoon which makes Jared mutter 'Jesus'. Jensen says that yeah, it was a lot that photoshoots are not their (his and Jared's) favorite thing to do, they're a necessary thing for their industry but he did have fun on that shoot. x
Out of all the famous horror movie villains which would be the hardest for Sam and Dean to face? Jared says it’s a name he can’t say aka Voldemort. Jensen says the easiest would be Michael cause he just stands there, that he's never understood how he catches people like does he get on like a segway. Jared mentions any villain Walking Dead, I wouldn't be too confident in that answer cause Negan but also I don't watch that show but I do know they've made some changes to the Walkers and they can open doors and climb shit now.
Jensen is still trying to figure out who would be the toughest, Jared tells him he'd go Star Wars or Harry Potter but those aren't horror movies. Someone in the crowd yells out Jason to which Jared replies he already beat Jason. The crowd also yells out Freddy Krueger but Jensen thinks Sam and Dean would have figured it out although he would be a tough one. x
Can they share any aspects of strain that their characters experienced that might have thought them something? Jared says that in his 15 and a half years on SPN he learned a lot, that it's hard for him to parse out what he learned with the help of Sam and what he learned with the help of Dean, and what he learned from the help of whomever. What he learned is that he went from being 22 to being 38 but he certainly learned that we are more capable than we understand, than we believe. That he loves stories of ultra marathon runners, or the one he was listening to recently on a podcast of a guy who trecked across Antartica. That those stories really inspire him cause sometimes when you're stressed about something and you go 'there's no way I'll figure this out' there's a little reminder in him to keep at it, and that as much as it is a cliche every thousand mile journey began with a single step. He felt that with Sam, and with Dean, and with the show so no matter how tired he is, no matter how emotionally or physically beat down he feels he just tries to keep on going forward.
Jensen says he'll echo what Jared said just slightly different view point. That both Dean and Sam, as his grandfather would say, when the good Lord made them he forgot to put the quit in them. They don't quit. And he can 100% be sure that Jared also has that in him as well and he feels confident he has some of that as well but it's because now they represent these characters that don't have quit in them that that he thinks drives them in their personal lives a little more than it would have had they never played these characters. x
How are the kids? Jared answers that theirs are good, that they finish school in May. That Shep just did a PSIA which is similar to the mathletes Jared did and he got like 4th on the district so he's a chip of the block, that Odette is still queen of the world as far as she knows, and Tom is kicking ass he's in sports and is doing well, that they're all safe and sound. Jensen says his are currently gallivanting around Europe with D, that they were at a museum today and she told him it was a total disaster. JJ is great, the twins however are 6 and very opinionated and if they don't like something- it reminds him of a story Ryan Gosling told about his little girl about how he took her to the Louvre and his little girl gave the museum a thumbs down that Arrow is like that, and that makes Jared share a story about when they were all in the Austin airport together last week on their way to Rome. They were supposed to have a 2hr layover in Atlanta but it ended up being around 5hrs so Jensen and D were trying to keep the kids awake and trying to think positive that maybe this is good cause they'll be more tired - at which point Jensen says that it was nice to have Uncle Jared stuck there with them (💕) - and when they were set to board Jared is standing with his rolling carry on and his backpack and he feels something push his carry on forward, when he looks behind him there's Arrow with her roller bag giggling evilly at him cause she wanted to play so he started to play with her. And then, at another point, he and Jensen had a little race with Arrow and Zep sitting on their carry on's, so Jensen has one of those aluminum rolling carry on's, the ones that you can sit on, and he was walking Arrow up and down on it but Zeppelin started complaining that it wasn't fair even though Jensen had spend a couple minutes already walking him up and down on the carry on too so Jensen looked at Jared and started signaling towards the kid, and Jared was like 'come here buddy' and put him on his bag and they had a little race through the airport. This is so cuuuute!!! I need y'all to go watch this moment for yourself cause it's an adorable story but also so you can see what the look was that Jensen gave Jared when he was asking for help with Zeppelin because it's such a help me with our kids look. x
Jensen had mentioned Lonesome Dove a while back but who would be Woodrow and who would be Augustus? Jensen feels like it's obvious, he would be Augustus and Jared would be Woodrow. Also, Jared mentions that the key makeup artist on Walker won the Emmy for makeup on Lonesome Dove! x
If they got a 60 sec ad in the Super Bowl what would it be about? Jensen goes "ha! you know how much money I just lost buying a 60 second ad?" Jared says that it would just be them crying, and Jensen says it would be an ad about how to stupidly spend your money 😂

The next fan read an article a couple years about how people think, some think in full sentences like a running monologue while others think in pictures and concepts, how do the boys think? Jared says he is absolutely the former. That he's either thinking solving the problems of the world in his head, or meow mix jingle, which he does part of, Jensen asks him if he sees things in text to which Jared replies yes, that he's thinking of the description of the visual more than the visual. Jensen also asks him what the recall looks like in his head when it comes to scripts, Jared replies that it flips in that case that when he's doing a scene he can see the script where the page turns, he doesn't have a photographic memory but he has a visual memory but that's for memorization if he's thinking about what he's gonna do later that day when he gets home he's not thinking about how it looks necessarily he's like making lists in his head.
Jensen says he would probably lean the other way, that when he memorizes a script at first he literally sees the page in his head and is reading lines which is largely why he can memorize lines that he's not even saying like he'll know what Jared's lines are he's basically reading the text in his head. And when talking about daily life if he's thinking about what he has to do when he gets home, he's visualising so if he's thinking about opening the door he sees that door and the dog going out, or thinking about getting the groceries he visualizes the grocery store and the aisle he has to go down.
Jared adds that a big day on Walker or SPN, a one hour episodic tv show, is like 8 pages, if you have an 8 page day you have a full day he thinks the most they've ever had was an 11 page day and that's kind of undoable unless you absolutely trust your director or is a lot of dialogue. He asks Jensen what's the most pages he's done in one day, Jensen answers 24 when he was on Days Of Our Lives that they usually shoot 60 pages a day. x
When the boys had a home ie the bunker was there anything they had to take with them from home or that they kept as a comfort thing when they had to go back on the road? Jared quips a flask. He also says he thinks they probably still had the cooler, he asks Jensen if he got legos or army men Jensen says he got all the weapons in the back. Jared says that when the show ended they had said the things they would love to have so their props department send them some things like motel cards, samulet, an army man and some legos so those are in safe keeping in his house.
The fan asks if Sam and Dean have any favorite driving games, someone in the crowd mentions punch buggies which Jensen says he calls slug bug which is when you slug someone when you see a bug car, and that that's probably what they played Jared says probably while the other one was asleep. Jensen also adds that there a couple of other things that they got from the set which they're not at liberty to talk about but the one thing he really wanted was Dean's two weapons of choice: his pistol and his sawed off shotgun. And that's a little trickier of a prop to take home and across the border because it's not a prop it's a firearm so instead what he did was he got a 1911 Colt .45, and he comissioned the craftsman in Van who had done the filigree engraving in Dean's gun to come out of retirement to do that filigree on the firearm that he bought, and he actually ended up using it in an episode just so he could say it was on tv. Then he did all the paperwork and sent it back home but the shotgun is ilegal if it's sawed off so he didn't think he'd be able to get it until he talked to his dad who told him that he tought his uncle had one and he did, he left it to Jensen when he passed so now his collection is complete. x

Logan: L. It is a logical way to shorten my name, and is also the name of a certain detective from a series that I am a fan of.

Virgil can only sleep with his teddy bear. He just finds it comforting to hold and cuddle. Now, let's just say Remus took it:
Virgil is frantically opening drawers, looking under beds, and throwing clothes from the closets onto the ground. Roman pops up behind him. "Everything Gucci, Mr.High blood pressure?" he asks, looking around the room. "I can't find—" Virgil began. "Well obviously you can't find something. But what can't you find?" Roman said, slightly raising an eyebrow. Not wanting to be laughed at, Virgil told him it was just something important to him. "Well, if it's important, let me help! Sir Sing-A-Lot is a great finder!" Roman spoke with confidence, which made Virgil look at him strangely. "No thanks, I'm good." Virgil thanked, still frantically looking for his bear. Roman sinked out.
Virgil thought for a moment. "Ah." he realized, sinking down to the buff. "Remus, give him back." Virgil told Remus with a look of hate in his eyes. "I'm not sure what you mean, Virge!" Remus replied, twirling his mustache. "I mean my stuffed bear, now give him back!" Virgil snarled, holding up a bar of soap. "AHH, GOD! FINE!" Remus threw the bear. Virgil picked up his bear, throwing the bar of soap and leaving it in Remus' room before sinking out.

Patches's Dreamland (700 A.D.)
(sequel to 'Dash Through the Time and Space Continuum')
Patches meowed. The cat that looked like Patches who was beside the past Lindsay meowed in song.
We all enjoyed eating our various styles of pizzas. Our King Chocolate-Covered Gummy Bear was eating the chocolate cupcakes from Chef Vanilla Mac's Pizza. Count Vanilla Manilla was eating the vanilla cupcakes.
The past King Chocolate-Covered Gummy Bear ate chocolate cupcakes and pepperoni pizza. Past Queen Nicole was eating vanilla cupcakes and Supreme pizza. They accidentally had a child named King Kirby Patches. We fed Kings Chocolate-Covered Gummy Bears a lot of food and made them pregnant. The two cats named Patches watched as we all made food love.
In our feasting, we were transferred to the market that was next to the castle in CĂłrdoba, which was the capitol of what we now call Spain.
"During this time, Spain as we know it didn't exist yet," our Jaybird said. "That region was controlled by the Moorish Arabs and was part of the Umayyad Caliphate."
"You are correct, Fellow me! We just called it Spain because we are from the future," the past-future Jaybird said.
"From what time period?" our Jaybird asked.
"1611," that Jaybird said.
"HOW THE HELL DID YOU END UP HERE?!" our Jaybird asked.
"It was an ancient spell I found in a text during my travels in Turkey," that Jaybird answered.
"How long has this been going on?" our King Chocolate-Covered Gummy Bear asked.
Two more King Chocolate-Covered Gummy Bears walked over with glasses of thick goat milk. King Kirby Patches drank some of that milk.
The Sir Paul the Goats bleated in stereo. The bears growled in stereo.
The Kings Chocolate-Covered Gummy Bears ate Entermann's donut holes, donuts, ice cream, pizzas, corn tortilla chips, and cookies. Their bellies were so big that they started talking when they were hungry. They even wanted 28 pounds of chicken for the festival.
Queen Nicole and I rubbed all four bellies of the Kings Chocolate-Covered Gummy Bears. Two of the King Chocolate-Covered Gummy Bears panted while the other two growled when they didn't get affection.
I fed chicken to the two cats named Patches. They were happy, good-looking cats. I petted them while they ate. I treated them like Joebear and Albear treated Oreo: petting her while her fat ass black ass white ass ate. They both needed to be held and petted while they ate. It was ridiculous.
In other news, I also fed Sir Rollo's dog, Cody, a pitbull a big fat steak. Afterward, he kneaded his straw bedding before he growled and laid on a rock.
Chef Vanilla Mac drank vanilla ale. Count Vanilla Manilla came over to us and ate a feast of whole wheat bread, chicken, and herb and garlic goat cheese.
The Sir Paul the Goats bleated in song. The bears growled in song.
I drank Romanga Cagnina wine straight from the Roman Empire and ate herb and garlic cheese melted over bread and butter. Then, I ate serrano peppers.
The Sir Paul the Goats bleated while the bears growled in opera. The Lindsays and Jaybirds bleated high notes. The cats named Patches meowed for five seconds.
The Kings Chocolate-Covered Gummy Bears drank that wine. Chef Vanilla Mac drank white wine. Count Vanilla Manilla drank mead and ate pepperoni pizza.
The Lindsays ate cherry peppers like grown women. Then, they fell asleep.
The two cats named Patches urinated and defecated in a stream. Those fish were going to have a great feasting.
Cody laid near the stream in which the cats did their business. He was biting on himself because he needed to groom. He then moved away to the middle of the woods to rest.
Queen Nicole and I laid near Cody and took a nap.

Goats bleated and woke me up. I bleated and closed my eyes again. Goats were running toward a watering hole and splashing around.
Chef Vanilla Mac started singing "Figaro Figaro Figaro!" Then he played a harp and skipped around. After the song, he requested to eat Spanish rice, chicken, and gravy. He was also very hungry.
A Spanish woman with strong facial features named Margot cooked him the rice, chicken, and gravy and fed it to him. He thanked her before he drank the whole bottle of white wine.
The Kings Chocolate-Covered Gummy Bears, Queen Nicole, and I also drank our bottles of wine. I even manifested a Wendy's double cheeseburger and munched on that.
Cody barked at me loudly before he ate some chicken and rice. It scared me.
Chef Vanilla Mac then boiled some coffee and manifested a piece of raspberry cheesecake. Meanwhile, I continued to munch on my burger.
After I ate my burger, I needed to discuss politics with King Simmons, so I went into the castle and argued about what our future will be. Cody followed me and barked a menacing bark. Apparently, he did not agree with my utopian ideals that I was sharing with King Simmons. He found them unrealistic.
The cats named Patches and Kings Chocolate-Covered Gummy Bears also came to discuss politics with us. I wrapped my body around my calm and collected King Chocolate-Covered Gummy Bear. The Patches from our timeline laid at my feet while Cody pawed at me.
The hangry King Chocolate-covered Gummy Bear ate some apples as he was laying down and burped. I tried to hold in a fart. Then after our long conversation about trying to make Al-Andalus our land, I went into the chamber in which I was staying, fell asleep, and probably farted anyway.

The Patches from their timeline nuzzled against my face and woke me up. She purred and then sat on my face. I laughed. She then put her face to mine, and we kissed.
The happy go-lucky King Chocolate-Covered Gummy Bear from their timeline was dancing to mariachi music in some woods that were 80 feet away.
When I got up, their Patches meowed at me while I went to make coffee, cute oranges, and eggs for the inebriated King Chocolate-Covered Gummy Bear from their timeline. He was hungry again. Our Patches meowed at me before the inebriated King Chocolate-Covered Gummy Bear manifested her breakfast.
Chef Vanilla Mac ate chicken and white wine and coffee for breakfast. Cody was barking excessively at Queen Megen Ace's toilet garden.
Queen Megen Ace was making dinner while King Bruce Ace was cooking ribs on the barbeque. Peter was bitching about how he still had to install stonewalls in this timeline.
Count Vanilla Manilla was drinking more white wine because his headache was killing him. The headache then infected the center of his brain and caused his head to explode.

We went into an alternate universe of floating heads that looked like Chef Vanilla Mac and Count Vanilla Manilla. Sir Rollo laid with Cody as well before Cody did his runs through the castle halls of licking people's faces happily and wagging his tail.
"We are honored by you, great dog," King Simmons spoke.
Riley the Ace of Riddling and Duke the Ace of Dodging barked simultaneously.
Sir Paul the Goat bleated. Patches meowed and ate salmon. I drank sage coffee. Patches and I went fishing after we had coffee and breakfast.
I had a huge red fish at the end of my pole, and Patches had a huge blue fish at the end of her pole. We both got sucked in the water with our fishing poles and swam in the stream with those huge fishes. We were trying to consume each other. The food chain was broken, and it exploded.

Patches and I were then flying out of Dr. Seuss's ass along with the red fish and the blue fish. We ended up in a hurricane in a giant white porcelain fish bowl. We were then flushed in what we now know as the English Channel.
The other cat named Patches meowed and managed to turn the television off.

“Significant Others - A Meeting at the Well – Part 1”
(Human Dissonance and Holy Harmony)
My parents are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this month.  They met and got to know one another – years ago in Nashville, Tennessee – singing in the choir at church.  Come to think of it, they are still singing in the church choir.  
I was talking with Patricia Moffett, a member of our church a few weeks ago and asked her how she met her husband, Blair.  “Oh, we met in Korea one summer,” she told me.  “I was there to be a teacher in a Christian school and he was there visiting his uncle.”  
I met my future wife when I was in the eighth grade and she was in seventh grade.  We were in the parking lot of Miller Middle School.  I was waiting for a ride from my dad.  She was getting in a car with a friend of mine.  “Do you know Amy?” my friend asked.  I – who was always quite comfortable around the ladies – probably said something like, “Ummm. . . Hi!”  Twenty years later, Amy and I got married.  
Nowadays, a lot of people meet online and may say that their relationship started with a swipe or a click on their cell phone.  Of course, even when people “meet” online, they eventually need to actually meet up face-to-face.  If memory serves me, Tim and Christa – who brought their daughter to be baptized this morning – met face-to-face for the first time at a restaurant, fairly early in the day, but they ended up having so much to talk about that their first official date ended hours and hours later.  
Whether you meet cute online, or in a restaurant, or a middle school parking lot, or in Korea, or in the church choir – people can meet their significant other in all kinds of ways.  
In today’s reading from the Book of Genesis,  we are introduced to a young woman named Rebekah.  I imagine her story of how she met her significant other going something like this:  
“So, you want to know how I met my husband, Isaac?  Well, it’s a different kind of story from meeting someone online – but it was just how people met one another years ago – kind of like an Old Testament eHarmony.com.  You see, you never know who you might meet at the well.
I was there – down at the well – where we always went to get water in the evening.  And a nice man with ten camels (loaded down with all kinds of nice things) was also there at the well and he me asked for some water to drink.  So, I said, ‘Here you go, sir, here’s some water for you.  Let me also draw some water for your camels!’  And then this nice man with the camels said, ‘I have been praying that I would meet someone like you because my master, Abraham – whose brother’s family lives in these parts – has sent me to find a wife for his son, Isaac.  ‘Oh,’ I said, ‘I think that Abraham might just be my great-uncle.  If it’s the Abraham I’ve heard about, he’s my grandfather’s brother.’  ‘Well,’ the nice man with the camels said, ‘It’s a small world!  I do believe we’re talking about the same person.  Here is a big ring of gold and some bracelets for you to wear.  Do you think I could stay at your father’s house this evening?’  ‘Sure,’ I said.  
Yadda-yadda-yadda, a few days later, there I am riding a camel with Abraham’s servant – on my way to meet Isaac, my future husband.  And, as we are riding one evening, I see this man walking in a field as the sun is going down and I slip down from my camel and say, ‘Who is that man over there?’  And Abraham’s servant says, ‘The man walking in the field is my master’s son, Isaac.’  Next thing you know, yadda-yadda-yadda, here I am – married to Isaac.”  
Now, fans of Rebekah and Isaac – along with fans of Seinfeld – might jump in at this point and say that my version of Rebekah’s story “yadda-yadda-yadda-ed” over some significant plot points.  What might these significant plot points be?  Well, I did kind of yadda-yadda-yadda over Rebekah’s decision to actually get on a camel and go with Abraham’s servant to parts-unknown to marry who-knows-who.  I mean, Rebekah is told that her great-uncle is rich – that the Lord has greatly blessed Abraham with “flocks and herds, silver and gold, male and female slaves, camels and donkeys.” (Genesis 24:35)  Now, for our purposes today, we won’t focus for long on the “male and female slaves” part of this, except to say that slavery in the Bible was, by in large, very different – much less cruel – than chattel slavery in the United States.[1]  Slaves were expensive, though, in both eras, and – as abhorrent as we might find slavery today – slavery was a sign of wealth.  So, let’s just say that, in the story, when it comes to wealth, Abraham clearly has a lot of it – which might not be an unattractive quality to Rebekah and her family.
But money isn’t everything, is it?  Just who is this Isaac guy that she’s supposed to be marrying?  Is he a good and kind person?  If she gets on that camel and leaves home, will Rebekah be loved and cared for?
You know, the Bible is filled with stories of people who set off into the unknown, wondering whether things are going to work out and having to trust that they, somehow will.  Why, just a few weeks ago, we talked about how Abraham – Rebekah’s soon-to-be-father-in-law – set off from his homeland and his extended family to go to a place that God would show him, and how he trusted that all would be well and, for this trust, God blessed him.  
Trust like this – faith like this does not occur, naturally.  In today’s first scripture reading from Paul’s letter to the Romans, we heard Paul’s famous description of the inner struggle that he has – that all of us have – when it comes to doing the right thing.  As Eugene Peterson translates,
What I don’t understand about myself is that I decide one way, but then I act another, doing things I absolutely despise. . . I can will it, but I can’t do it.  I decide to do good; but I don’t really do it; I decide not to do bad, but then I do it anyway. . .  It happens so regularly that it’s predictable.  The moment I decide to do good, sin is there to trip me up.  I truly delight in God’s commands, but it’s pretty obvious that not all of me joins in that delight. . .  I’ve tried everything and nothing helps. . .  Is there no one who can do anything for me? . . .  The answer, thank God, is that Jesus Christ can and does.  He acted to set things right in this life of contradictions where I want to serve God with all my heart and mind, but am pulled by the influence of sin to do something totally different.[2]
There is such a struggle at the heart of who Paul is and who we are – there is so much dissonance between what we know is right and what we actually do that is right.  Paul knows that he cannot do the right thing on his own.  It goes against his human nature.  But he also knows that – in spite of this – Jesus Christ is at work on him and in him.  
Now, people in the Hebrew Bible like Abraham and Rebekah, Moses and Elijah, Ruth and Esther all lived before the time of Jesus, but this does not mean that God was not present and at work within them – encouraging them in times of wonder and worry, strengthening them in times of fear and weakness, sometimes pushing them against their will to do the right thing.  The same thing can be said of the Holy Spirit, at work on us and in us.  The Spirit, which hovers over the water and is poured out upon us in our baptism, is always at work, sanctifying us – making us more holy and possibly more ready to take the next trusting faithful step in our pilgrimage with God.  
In today’s story, the Spirit moves and Rebekah gets on that camel and rides away from her family.  I love how they bless her and pray for her as she goes:  “May you, our sister, become thousands of myriads. . .” (24:60) they say.  Try saying that to the bride the next time you go to a wedding.  You’ll get some interesting looks, to be sure!  With these words, Rebekah’s family is praying that she and her offspring will prosper.  Just as Abraham had been promised that his offspring would become as numerous as the stars in the sky, Rebekah’s family is praying that Rebekah’s offspring would become a great multitude – “ten thousand,”[3] to be exact in the original language, which was basically like the ancient Hebrew way of saying “so many that you can’t count them all.”  
Over the next few weeks, we will be hearing the stories of some of this myriad of multitudes – hearing the story of Rebekah and Isaac’s sons – Jacob and Esau – as well as Jacob’s twelve sons and their families.  We will hear the story of dreams, and another meeting at another well, another love story, and another blessing.
There are plenty of parts in the story of Abraham’s family that are complicated – moments when people are not living up to God’s expectations, times when people get things wrong.  The inner struggle of wanting to do right vs. actually doing right has always been very real.  And yet, somehow, God still chooses to work through people – beginning with the likes of Abraham and Sarah, Rebekah and Isaac, who are all part of an ancient story that points toward God’s greater action and purpose in the world.  In the end, we see the action and purpose of God perfected in the loving presence of Jesus Christ who has come to set things right and turn our human dissonance into holy harmony.  
You know, sometimes a sermon needs a title by the time we press “print” on the bulletin each week.  If I had thought about it a little more before we pressed “print,” this week, I would have given this sermon the title “Significant Others.” We began by talking about how some people met their significant others and how Rebekah met her significant other, Isaac.  But there is this other Significant Other that we see at work in today’s scripture readings as well as in our own lives.  God – who we see and know as Creator, and Christ, and Holy Spirit – is the Significant Other. . .  who we come to know through ancient story and scripture, who we see in the beautiful complexity of the world around us, who we encounter in the person and presence and teaching and example of Jesus Christ, and who we find as close as our very breath as the Spirit among us.  
If you were to tell the tale of how you met God – the Significant Other – you might tell the story of your baptism, or a story of sitting in the pew at church as a child, or being around a campfire one summer at camp, or being in a classroom, or on the road, or encountering God through the love of another person.  
Whatever your story may be, God’s fingerprints are all over that story – your story – whether you see those holy fingerprints or not.  God, who in the story of the faith of Abraham, and in the story of Rebekah’s willingness to go to a new place, and in the story of wilderness wanderings, and holy commandments, and exile and homecoming, and the ultimate triumph over the inner struggle of sin and death in the person of Jesus Christ, has chosen to be our Significant Other.  God is always seeking us out and urging us – through the Spirit – to follow where God calls us.  May we say “Yes,” trusting that God will lovingly bless our every step.  
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

Acts 16:1–40 NLT - 1 Paul went first to Derbe and then to Lystra, where there was a young disciple named Timothy. His mother was a Jewish believer, but his father was a Greek. 2 Timothy was well thought of by the believers in Lystra and Iconium, 3 so Paul wanted him to join them on their journey. In deference to the Jews of the area, he arranged for Timothy to be circumcised before they left, for everyone knew that his father was a Greek. 4 Then they went from town to town, instructing the believers to follow the decisions made by the apostles and elders in Jerusalem. 5 So the churches were strengthened in their faith and grew larger every day. 6 Next Paul and Silas traveled through the area of Phrygia and Galatia, because the Holy Spirit had prevented them from preaching the word in the province of Asia at that time. 7 Then coming to the borders of Mysia, they headed north for the province of Bithynia, but again the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them to go there. 8 So instead, they went on through Mysia to the seaport of Troas. 9 That night Paul had a vision: A man from Macedonia in northern Greece was standing there, pleading with him, "Come over to Macedonia and help us!" 10 So we decided to leave for Macedonia at once, having concluded that God was calling us to preach the Good News there. 11 We boarded a boat at Troas and sailed straight across to the island of Samothrace, and the next day we landed at Neapolis. 12 From there we reached Philippi, a major city of that district of Macedonia and a Roman colony. And we stayed there several days. 13 On the Sabbath we went a little way outside the city to a riverbank, where we thought people would be meeting for prayer, and we sat down to speak with some women who had gathered there. 14 One of them was Lydia from Thyatira, a merchant of expensive purple cloth, who worshiped God. As she listened to us, the Lord opened her heart, and she accepted what Paul was saying. 15 She was baptized along with other members of her household, and she asked us to be her guests. "If you agree that I am a true believer in the Lord," she said, "come and stay at my home." And she urged us until we agreed. 16 One day as we were going down to the place of prayer, we met a demon-possessed slave girl. She was a fortune-teller who earned a lot of money for her masters. 17 She followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, "These men are servants of the Most High God, and they have come to tell you how to be saved." 18 This went on day after day until Paul got so exasperated that he turned and said to the demon within her, "I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her." And instantly it left her. 19 Her masters' hopes of wealth were now shattered, so they grabbed Paul and Silas and dragged them before the authorities at the marketplace. 20 "The whole city is in an uproar because of these Jews!" they shouted to the city officials. 21 "They are teaching customs that are illegal for us Romans to practice." 22 A mob quickly formed against Paul and Silas, and the city officials ordered them stripped and beaten with wooden rods. 23 They were severely beaten, and then they were thrown into prison. The jailer was ordered to make sure they didn't escape. 24 So the jailer put them into the inner dungeon and clamped their feet in the stocks. 25 Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. 26 Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off! 27 The jailer woke up to see the prison doors wide open. He assumed the prisoners had escaped, so he drew his sword to kill himself. 28 But Paul shouted to him, "Stop! Don't kill yourself! We are all here!" 29 The jailer called for lights and ran to the dungeon and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. 30 Then he brought them out and asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" 31 They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household." 32 And they shared the word of the Lord with him and with all who lived in his household. 33 Even at that hour of the night, the jailer cared for them and washed their wounds. Then he and everyone in his household were immediately baptized. 34 He brought them into his house and set a meal before them, and he and his entire household rejoiced because they all believed in God. 35 The next morning the city officials sent the police to tell the jailer, "Let those men go!" 36 So the jailer told Paul, "The city officials have said you and Silas are free to leave. Go in peace." 37 But Paul replied, "They have publicly beaten us without a trial and put us in prison--and we are Roman citizens. So now they want us to leave secretly? Certainly not! Let them come themselves to release us!" 38 When the police reported this, the city officials were alarmed to learn that Paul and Silas were Roman citizens. 39 So they came to the jail and apologized to them. Then they brought them out and begged them to leave the city. 40 When Paul and Silas left the prison, they returned to the home of Lydia. There they met with the believers and encouraged them once more. Then they left town.
