I keep seeing videos of New Orleans covered in snow and all I can think about is happy vampire family with Claudia being excited to see snow for the first time and Louis and Lestat cuddled up together fondly looking at her running around playing in the snow 🥺

I am genuinely upset about the tiktok ban. For a variety of reasons. But I wanna touch upon one very specific one which is the one that hit me the hardest. Earlier tonight I was scrolling through my favorites to try and save as many of the slideshow ones that I could and it hit me how much we (those affected by the ban) are going to lose.
Recommendations for all types of media - I want to be explicitly clear that I am including booktok in this because there's nothing wrong with romance or erotica and also it is so much more than that -, inspiration for literally everything (nails, makeup, weddings, outfits, etc.), tutorials, recipe ideas, small businesses that you could visit or buy from online! Crafting and art. So many people found their creativity through that platform or were encouraged to pursue creative endeavors. From indie authors, to painters, even edit makers some of whom made masterpieces.
Even if it is "saved" all those things will still be lost because we know a deal was made behind closed doors which even if not right away will still eventually turn the application into another FB/Insta or Twitter.
Was tiktok perfect? No, there are some things I hated.
But I learned from so many different perspectives, cultures, races, sexual identities, ages. Hell, I even learned about my own country!
Whether people like it, understand it, or accept it - which I know they don't - tiktok had the capacity to be very educational and informative. It's sad to lose that.
#not to mention all the health information!!!! i literally found out about medical conditions i have because of seeing ppl with my symptoms#random#tiktok#tiktok ban#non fandom#mine

Hello, my name is Jaafar from North Gaza. I previously created a GoFoundMe donation campaign, and when I got $2,400, they deleted the campaign without knowing the reason. Please support me in my new campaign, Chuffed. Any amount you donate, even if it is small, will help buy flour and vegetables for my family. The price of everything we have is many times its normal price. Please help save my family from starvation! 🥹🙏
Please know that the beginning is difficult for everyone, donate even a small amount, it will definitely mean a lot to us 💔🥲

Lila Shapiro does an amazing job at explaining Gaiman's family history with the church of scientology and how that fucked him up as a child, without ever implying that the trauma excuses his actions as a grown man. the entire article is masterfully written but that part really stuck out to me. she provides context so well but it never veers into a justification whatsoever. and that said, i also think we should pay attention to that part and talk about it. of course, primarily we should uphold the victims' voices and their experiences. but i also think we need to talk about scientology. something needs to be done about that goddamn cult. i knew about the financial blackmail and insane psychological abuse they do, but i had no idea prior to this that they punished children this way. it's fucking insane

Now feels like a good time to remind people that the foundation of BDSM is consent. If there’s no consent, it’s not BDSM.
Rough sex can be done consensually.
Sadism can be done consensually.
Impact play can be done consensually.
Emetophilia can be satisfied consensually.
Even consensual non-consent is a thing.
Neil Gaiman had the money and the means to find willing partners for his sexual preferences. There are countless people out there who would be more than happy to perform the acts he wanted. If he wanted, he could have had exactly what he desired with the consent of the other party. But he didn’t look for that because, fundamentally, his interest was in assault, not BDSM.
Don’t let him trick you into thinking what he did was BDSM. It lacked the core element of all BDSM: consent. It was assault that he wanted and that’s what he did to those women.
#💯💯💯#such a good point too if he truly wanted to engage in bdsm he totally could have found someone willing to do those kind of sex acts#neil gaiman#sex ed#sexual education

while this ceasefire news is certainly cause for celebration, i do hope that all of us in the west remember that the nightmare is not actually over.
i spoke with my friend siraj @siraj2024 about this and he had this to say:
Despite the announcement of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, many residents are still suffering from the devastating repercussions of the war, which has left widespread destruction in homes and infrastructure. Although the truce has contributed to stopping the violent bombing, the reality on the ground still holds great challenges for civilians, as many are still in urgent need of tents as temporary shelter. The destruction of homes as a result of continuous bombing throughout the conflict has left many families in Gaza homeless, and tents are the only solution available to some at the present time. Even with the cessation of fighting, the reconstruction process remains complex and time-consuming, especially in light of the restrictions on construction materials and the deteriorating economic conditions. Therefore, the tent becomes a temporary hope for many families facing harsh conditions.
echoing his point here - it doesn't seem like the blockade, which has only gotten more restrictive since october 2023, will be removed as part of this deal. associated press said last october that under such conditions, it will take gaza 350 years to rebuild itself completely. this isn't even getting into the fact that the iof will definitely escalate attacks in the final days before the ceasefire comes into effect, and almost certainly break the ceasefire afterward.
i don't want us to feel like we have to stop celebrating, but we do have to face the facts. we can carry the hope this news has brought us into action to continue to help the people who need it most. and i hope we can start with siraj. consult this post for my most recent summary of his situation, or read through his blog for more information.
tl;dr is that he had two gofundme campaigns that were unjustly terminated, and he lost around $27,000 USD as a result. he is now fundraising on chuffed. he's a father of three and breadwinner for 23 other people, including 10 children. he's been fundraising for a tent because he lost the means to pay rent for an apartment. tents, along with most supplies, are incredibly expensive due to the blockade. lets start here.

Our task from this point forward is to continue supporting Palestinians. Keep boosting fundraisers and donate as much as you can. Share news from the Gaza Strip.
Now is not the time to disengage. Do not look away
#the ceasefire is great but they are actively counting on people no longer paying attention#and it's already happening i've seen people say 'thank god it's over'#it's not over palestinians still lost everything#they still need help they're still not free#also i've heard it said this ceasefire is only temporary???? but idk about that#free palestine#non fandom

There's been too many cases of abusive men using BDSM as a way to gaslight their victims and excuse their abuse and I think one of the reasons why they get away with this so often is because, from what I have seen, they target women who are either new to the community or have no knowledge, or an erroneous idea, of what BDSM is and what healthy dom/sub dynamics are like so when they're confronted with their abuse they throw the BDSM card and take advantage of that lack of knowledge to get away with what they do. Which is why I know there's at least one person out there who needs to hear the following:
BDSM always involves consent.
You should be encouraged to share what you are into, what you aren't into, and what you're willing to try and if any of those things change. You can have boundaries and limitations. These can change.
A big part of BDSM is communication. If the person you're with makes you feel bad about this, or like you can't say that you don't like or don't want to try something they are not a dom, they are abusive.
Safewords and signals are things that should be discussed and their use encouraged. If the person you are with makes you feel bad about using your safeword or pausing the scene, they are not a dom, they are abusive.
You could have spent hours/days/months eagerly planning a scene that involves doing the kinkiest, freakiest things if at any point you change your mind you can revoke your consent. If the person, or people, you are having sex with doesn't stop that is not BDSM. That is abuse, that is rape, that is assault.
BECAUSE BDSM ALWAYS INVOLVES CONSENT.
And if a man who claims to be into BDSM and that they're a "dom" tries to tell you any different run in the opposite direction. They are not dominant, they are abusive.

The Neil Gaiman Vulture article is so much worse than you think. The things depicted in there are so much worse than you think. Even having seen multiple people warn about it, I still was not prepared for what I read.
Hell is not enough for that man and his ex-wife.

I feel like this is going to ruffle some feathers but I do not like Anna Fricke as a producer. Like at all, so that part I'm not crazy about. That being said, I am very happy and excited to see that Jared is starring in a new project, and I really look forward to checking it out and having him back on my screen every week. 📰
#jared padalecki#still hoping for that fire country spinoff too or better yet for him to join fire country#and let's actively piss some people off in the tags: god pls don't let g get casted on this project that woman can't act to save her life#i don't feel like this needs an anti tag just because i'm saying i don't like someone as a producer#noniwtv#mine
