Just…sculptor/painter reader using the gladiators as her nude model…running your hands over their muscles and gushing how strong they are and how amazing your latest piece is going to come out!

But back to the drill...You are so right??? Like...I imagine that reader would be a young, aspiring artist with a knack for painting. Maybe she doesn't come from a wealthy family so any true school for it is out of the question, your own parents only came along when you started selling your painting and doing commissions for nobles and it actually started to bring in money. Your road to success is still long but you're managing! Plus you're 'stupidly determined like your father' as your mother says so you try to stay positive!

The one problem you had was something you believed many artists suffered from; inspiration and models. Specifically human models. The human body and physique fascinated you from an early age, the moving muscles, facial expressions to different stimuli and so much more but...the problem were the models, or rather the lack thereof.

You could probably hire someone but the money spend on that would be way too much for your limited budget so the next best thing was the coliseum! It was a blessing in poor disguise, the gladiators trained there almost daily and luckily the head keeper of the arena begrudingly let you stay there and practice in exchange for a satchel of money but to be honest...the practice wasn't the only thing you longed for when visiting the coliseum almost daily, it was the gladiators.

They were huge, burly men in their prime, all of them looking like they were born with a sword or spear in hand and to grow up to become warrior and you'd be lying if you said that warmth didn't spread through your body and centered in your lower belly whenever these big, loud and boisterous men didn't call out for you and purred in dripping, low voices how pent up they are and what they wouldn't give for a pretty soft thing like you :((

The worst (or best) part was when you were practicing nude drawings which were equally fascinating and hard to draw, especially with all these men being so...shameless with it. You loved the human body, all artists do but still you were a young lady and watching all the gladiators walking around the barracks all naked and proud was...an experience to say the least and brought a pang of warmth between your thighs, especially when they were so happy to parade themselves like proud stallions in front of you :((

Strong, toned bodies glistening with sweat and water, their hardening cocks proudly on show whenever you run your soft hands over their toned torsos to study the way muscles move and twitch whenever you run your fingers over a sensitive spot, the most reactive being two of the many foreign gladiators, Johnny or like he insisted to be called 'Soap' and Kyle or 'Gaz', like he wants to be called.

These two are always purring low withing their chests to you as you look all over them, their backs, chests, stomachs, making you promise to do a special commission only for them but you're just nodding dumbly because you're too transfixed on the god-like bodies to draw :(

Another gladiator you're very fond of is a huge, blonde foreigner named Simon, or 'Ghost'. A formidable warrior, a veteran for sure, it looked like Ares himself send this one here to grace the people with a demigod of war. He was always incredibly patient with you, letting you roam your hands over his body and all the numerous scars decorating his skin. Once you saw Simon up close you immediately realized why people called him a demigod-he was beautiful. A strong and powerful man in his prime, his muscles jumping and twitching beneath his thick skin and a layer of fat, power and virility was literally radiating off of this man, and you insistently tried not to look at the long and thick cock hanging between his legs, twitching and pulsating with arousal whenever you marveled over his body and your fingers ran over his adonis belt <3

In the splendor of the royal box, you, the princess, watched with bated breath as the gladiatorial games unfolded below. Among the fierce warriors, one figure stood out to you. The way his eyes looked up at you with a mixture of admiration and longing made your heart yearn for him.

As Simon emerged victorious, you approached him with reverence, a crown of delicate flowers clasped gently in your hands. With adoration shining in your eyes, you lifted the floral adornment and placed it upon his head, a gesture of respect and admiration for his remarkable fight.

Your voice reached his ears like a soothing melody. "What is your name?" your words carrying a softness that made Simon's heart flutter within his chest.

"Simon," he replied, his voice barely above a whisper as he bowed his head in deference, feeling unworthy to be in the presence of such grace and beauty.

"You fought with honor, Simon, something I rarely see" your praise washed over him like a soothing balm to his weary soul. With gentle hands, you took a fragrant cloth and wiped away the traces of blood from his face, your touch leaving a trail of warmth in its wake. 

As a final act of gratitude and affection, one that filled his heart with warmth, you pressed a kiss to his cheek, leaving him feeling as though he had been touched by an angel.

Simon was hesitant to entertain any feelings for you, knowing the risks involved in falling for the daughter of the king. He was a gladiator, a man bound by duty and honor, and the idea of getting involved with royalty seemed both reckless and forbidden.

However, you were always there to see him fight, sitting at the edge of your seat praying to the gods above to keep him safe. And every time he came out victorious you would be there placing a crown of flowers you had woven together on his head, smiling up at him, and placing a kiss upon his cheek.

Simon found himself drawn to you, the princess whose grace and kindness shone like a beacon in the darkness of the coliseum. Despite his initial reluctance to entangle himself with royalty, Simon couldn't deny the growing affection he felt for you, a love that bloomed quietly in the shadows, hidden from prying eyes.

Your meetings in secret became the highlight of his days, each stolen moment filled with whispered confessions and tender caresses. In your arms, he found solace from the brutality of the arena, his heart beating in rhythm with yours, bound by a love that defied all odds.

The shadows of secrecy could only conceal your love for so long. When your father discovered the truth of your forbidden romance, he devised a cruel plan to teach you a lesson.

You cried out, your anguished scream piercing through the crowd. Ignoring your father's desperate attempts to restrain you, you broke free from his grasp and raced down to the arena, your heart breaking with each step.

In your grief-fueled rage, you lashed out, pushing aside anyone who dared stand in your way. With a single motion, you sent a soldier trying to restrain you tumbling down the steps, his neck snapping with a sickening crunch as his body rolled to the bottom.

When you reached the arena you grasped Simon's sword with trembling hands and as the warrior who had robbed you of your beloved raised his hands in triumph, basking in the cheers of the crowd, you plunged the sword deep into his back. The crowd erupted into shocked gasps as they witnessed the princess, their beloved royalty, committing a brazen act of violence before their eyes.

With tears streaming down your cheeks, you collapsed beside Simon's lifeless form, the weight of grief and despair pressing heavily upon your heart. Tenderly, you cradled his face in your trembling hands, your fingertips tracing the contours of his features. Leaning forward, you pressed your lips softly against his, a final gesture of love and longing.

But as your lips met his the shocked gasps of the crowd echoed around you, their disapproval thick in the air. In that moment, you were acutely aware of the gaping divide between your station as royalty and Simon's humble existence as a gladiator. Yet, despite the scornful glares and muttering voices, you refused to let go of the man who had captured your heart so completely.

Among the spectators, your father let out a cry of anguish, his voice reverberating with fury and disbelief at the display unfolding before him.

As the king's guards advanced towards you, their expressions a mix of apprehension and determination, you knew that your fate was sealed. With resolve burning brightly within you, you reached for the small dagger strapped to your thigh, a gift from Simon for your protection.

With a steady hand and a resolve born of unwavering love, you drew the blade across your throat, the searing pain nothing to the agony within your heart.

As the crimson blood stained the pristine fabric of your gown, the collective gasps and cries of the onlookers reached a fever pitch, mingling with the anguished wails of your father. 

As your blood mixed with Simon's on the bloodstained earth of the arena, you knew that in death, you would find solace in the arms of your beloved, united for eternity in a love that transcended even the boundaries of mortality and the barriers of royalty and status.

@itistakingover and I wrote an avatrice Switzerland fake dating au which involves Beatrice coming to terms with her feelings for Ava through some fake dating fun. Here's the first chapter.

Excerpt:

“Don’t be mad.”

They’re the first words out of Ava’s mouth when she finds Beatrice in the back of the bar, and Beatrice already knows she’s going to be mad in about three seconds.

“What did you do?”

“Listen,” Ava says, hands up in a placating gesture. “First, it wasn’t my fault, it just happened and-“

“Ava,” Beatrice cuts in.

“He just wouldn’t stop and I didn’t know what else to do but I swear, I didn’t mean to, I-“

“Ava,” Beatrice cuts in, more forceful this time. She’s getting worried, now half expecting to go out to the bar and find some guy knocked out on the floor. They can’t afford the attention if that’s the case, they can’t afford to move anywhere else, not right now.

(The thought of leaving here, leaving the home they’ve made, saddens Beatrice in a way she can’t afford to think about).

“I…” Ava’s shoulder sag and she bites her lip. “Hans thinks we’re dating.”

Of all the things Beatrice thought could’ve happened, of all the scenarios that are running through her mind and contingency plans for them all, this was not one of them.

“Hans thinks we’re…” Beatrice clears her throat before she can say the next word. “Dating?” Even then, the word comes out slightly strangled. She has to clear her throat again. “Why does Hans think we’re dating?”

“You know, Simon, one of the regulars?”

Beatrice is not following this at all but nods anyway.

“Well, he would just not stop flirting with me, he wouldn’t take the hint,” Ava starts, and suddenly Beatrice is mad, not for whatever reason Ava thought she’d be mad in the first place, but because of Simon and his inability to treat people with respect. She’s seen the way he looks at Ava, seen the way he flirts with her. More than once she’s had to stop herself stepping in and saying something.

“You’ve seen him, the way he acts sometimes, I wanted it to stop and he wouldn’t take no for an answer. I knew you wouldn’t appreciate me punching him but I also wasn’t really thinking and I just blurted out that we were dating. And Hans heard, which is now why I’m telling you, because I’ve dug us into a hole I don’t know how to get out of.” Ava chews on her bottom lip. “Are you mad?”

Beatrice sighs, trying to take in all the information and figuring out their best course of action. “I’m not mad.”

She’s not, she’s just wondering why God is testing her like this. This is not what she expected when she signed up to be a sister warrior.

Ava winces. “You seem a little mad.”

“I’m not,” Beatrice repeats. “Well, I am, but at Simon, not at you. So Hans and Simon think we’re…together?”

She’s trying to piece it together in her mind, come up with the best way out of this.

Ava nods.

“Simon won’t matter, we probably won’t see too much of him.” Especially because she’s planning to have a few words with him about respect and consent. “But Hans is a different story.” Beatrice thinks for another moment, and comes up with a solution. “We can tell him you were just lying to the customer to get him to stop.”

Ava pulls a face, and Beatrice already knows she’s not going to like whatever she says next.

“Afterwards, Hans made a comment about how we make a cute couple and I didn’t deny it.”

“Ava.”

“And then I told him you were the best and asked him if he could man the bar for a few minutes so I could come and see you. And here we are. He probably thinks we’re making out back here or something.”

Beatrice lets out a sharp breath, this is too much.

Disclaimer:I think reviews and opinions show a lot about who you are and your life exp so. I am a woman lover who is 30 with ADHD. I am cisgendered she/her. I like listening to books on my drive in and out of work. I’ve read and watched a lot of scifi and fantasy and these books reflect that too.

In order of most loved:

1. Most Ardently by Gabe Cole Novoa 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈⏳ Historical Romance. this beautifully crafted novel moved me to tears. Set in a historical, mundane world, it captures the essence of the original while offering a fresh perspective.

2. Some Desperate Glory by Emily Tesh 👯‍♀️🏳️‍🌈👽🚀now MC Romance very very low I like to think she’s a little bit some where in the ace spectrum but 🥹🥹 Avicenna gives you enough gay vibes trust me. It is a real journey. MC is broken out of her brainwashing and tries to save the Earth and Universe. It’s high Sci-fi fun. I really loved it.

3. The Last Binding Trilogy by Freya Marske 🏳️‍🌈👯‍♀️🏳️‍🌈🪄⏳🔎 Alright each book is from a different intertwined couple’s POV. Each book is very much historical wizard mystery’s found family. Each book has steamy interesting spicy scenes. I find this series more impressive now because I still think about the couples and its universe was fun. Side note the last couple is the best.

4. The Tithenai Chronicles by Foz Meadows 🏳️‍🌈⏳🪄🔎 it’s more historical than super magical but both books have decent mysteries. It’s about an arranged royal marriage one comes from a conservative country suffering from trauma which we get to see but is treated respectfully and not harped on and the other is a warrior who is a little neurospicy. So Velasin is so dear to me I forgive a lot because he’s baby and I love him. They have non binary characters and disabled characters in the story being treated like people. There is some very spicy scenes in these two books. The new character in the second book so amazing they reminds me of Tennal from Oceans Echo in spirit anyway. I liked them. But his spicy scenes had me blushing for days. A con of this book is it’s very emotional so depression trauma warnings.

5. Sunbearer Trials by Aiden Thomas 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🦹🦜 I can’t believe I forgot to do a review of this one considering I really enjoyed it. So it’s YA dystopian Latin America folklore kind of like superhero and god goddess. Really heart warming found family coming of age. Also in the vein of hunger games etc. I loved the universe and the structure of the world. Each character was well developed throughout the book. Main character is someone you want to see succeed. I’m so excited for book 2. Lots of neurospicy peeps represented in my opinion.

6. Simon Snow Trilogy by Rainbow Rowell🏳️‍🌈🪄🧛🏻🐲 Also YA feel book one has a lot of Harry Potter jabs but it’s not a direct parody. I also think in book 2 3 they take jabs at diff genres which was fun. The series is very funny has perspective from all the characters. The universe is interesting. Romance is decent. Lovable characters. It isn’t good to think too hard about anything.

7. The Unbroken by CL Clark 👯‍♀️⏳👑🪄 this book would be higher up if I wasn’t iffy on the main couple individually I’d rank both leads pretty high on best characters. It’s a book about colonialism political magic rebellion found family. It’s action packed it’s interesting with a good mystery. A disabled main character and a more male presenting lesbian with is something new. Touraine is going to do what Touraine thinks in her heart while Luca serves with her brain and wallet.

8. So this is ever after by f. t. Lukens 🏳️‍🌈👯‍♀️🪄👑⏳ Does what it says on the tin is YA. Medieval setting with standard fantasy quest group. Very easy read.

9. Out of the Blue by Jason June 🏳️‍🌈🧜🏻‍♂️🎬🎓very YA vibes. Very romance. About a nonbinary mer person on their journey out of the ocean to help a human and a film obsessed gay chubby human on his journey to get over a relationship. I would have this book ranked higher except for the ending and School vibes do kind of make me cringe.

10. Temperature of You and Me by Brain Zepka 🏳️‍🌈🦹🔎 about a boy whose skin is fire and human who works at a dairy queen. Mystery is weak some holes in the plot.Romance very immature. School age kids.

Okay so audible had a sale anddd I got a couple titles on there (if I have to spend a fortune on gas and tolls I’ll spend a small one on the books that keep me sane) and I have 4 Libby audiobooks checked out. I still have a hard time with wlw books. Or too much thinking. It needs to hit a sweet spot for me since I’m usually driving in hard conditions so can’t use the super brain on the story. Anyways any suggestions or recs would be welcomed!!!

One of Marc’s first gifts to Nathaniel was asphodel, the very first species of flower that was able to bloom in the Underworld. (He worked at it for weeks!) Nathaniel usually has one somewhere on his outfit.

Ondine’s favorite sea creature is the seahorse, because Kim made them specially for her. They didn’t come out looking quite like he wanted them to, but she loved them anyway!

As the goddess of beauty as well as love, Rose loves giving makeovers, and Juleka is her favorite model. Juleka’s not one for dressing up much, but she likes it because it makes Rose happy.

Mylene is quite possibly the only person who can pull Ivan away from his work in the forge to spend some time outdoors. They often go down to Earth for picnics where he’ll show her his latest projects.

Austin A is NOT the best dancer, and so for the longest time he wouldn’t dance at parties on Olympus because he didn’t want to embarrass herself in front of his boyfriend, the literal muse of dance. But Spinelli happened to witness him dancing wildly to her favorite song one day, and thought it was the cutest thing ever.

Kind of a multiple-ship one, but Austin A, Austin T, Anthony, and Brecken all received eight separate shovel talks when they began dating their respective partners. The muses are very close and protective of one another. (Ivan is also still deeply haunted by the shovel talk he got from Marc. Who knew the god of flowers and the Spring could be so terrifying?)

Anthony is the only person (besides Jean) who can always tell when Jesse is genuinely upset and not just being the muse of tragedy. He always takes him for a fly, and then they talk through what’s wrong.

Reshma and Margo have enormous crushes on each other, and they always linger for a bit once they finish their duties to watch the other bring the night and dawn respectively. They blush like crazy when they accidentally catch one another’s eye.

Simon and Denise have a game they play where he reassembles his stars and they try to guess what he’s trying to make a picture of. He’s also made numerous constellations in their honor.

The only time you see Alya cut loose is when Nino brings her to a party. He just seems to bring out her more carefree side, but she’d never admit that out loud.

Cosette and Zoe love to dance together, and whenever they do, it creates a beautiful cascade of rainbows through the night sky. Humans have started to call these the ‘Northern Lights’.

Luka is the only one who can calm Kagami down when she’s in ‘Warrior Rage’ mode. He usually does this by playing her favorite songs on his lyre.

Austin T taught Jean some meditation techniques to help him relax whenever he’s really stressed about a show. Jean uses them whenever he’s stressed because it reminds them of their boyfriend.

Aurore and Mireille like to race each other in the sky, so if you feel really strong cold and warm winds at the same time but the sky is clear, that’s why. The loser has to reward the winner with a kiss.

Evie once organized a group of Brecken’s animal companions to ‘sing’ a song she had written for him. It’s his favorite gift anyone’s ever given him.

And the very very last, but certainly not least, after The Bonnieverse, and The Marcyverse, here’s the Simonverse! This one takes a lot of inspiration from @fridjitzu‘s Reverseworld, which has a very similar concept, so yeah, credit where it’s due (for the ideas of Simon using nunchaku as his weapon-of-choice, Gunter's 'magic' powers, and some of Marceline's characterization) but I think there’s a lot of essential things that are very different and make this a distinctive AU!

As usual, details under the cut:

Simon the Human: A human child found in the wild and adopted by a family of penguins, Simon is a very clever and nerdy adventurer kid who’s much better at solving issues with his brain then with his nunchaku (though he’s not bad at those either). He wants to be all responsible and mature, especially to his adoptive little brother Gunter. But he still has to deal with being a kid who’s emotional and confused about junk and especially love and puberty - since he’s not very well-adjusted when it comes to his crushes. Easily scared but usually fights through it to do the right thing. He likes books, history, archaeology (part of the reason he started adventuring is because that’s the best way to unearth ancient artifacts) and occasionally dabbles in magic.

Gunter the Penguin: Simon’s younger brother. Has “magic” powers to change his size and create clones of himself, which are actually a manifestation of his true identity as the amnesiac elder god Orgalorg, rather then simple magic. It also manifest in his more mischievous and destructive tendencies. He likes teasing his older brother and sometimes get annoyed with the way Simon babies him, but he still loves him a lot.

Queen Marceline: Ruler of the Monster Kingdom, a sort of Halloween-ish kingdom of friendly spooky silly monsters. Queen Marceline is like Simon’s cool big sister he never had before - and she’s often the person he feels most comfortable with: without the burden of being the responsible, mature one with Gunther or the awkwardness of being next to girls he's crushing on. Queen Marceline means well (she’s the one who overthrew the Vampire King and reformed the Monster Kingdom from a really evil place to a nation of mostly chaotic neutral pranksters) but she’s got a reputation for not being the most focused or responsible ruler around. While she is sometimes more focused on her music career or her own needs then actually ruling the kingdom - also she believes a hands-off attitude really is the best way to rule (especially since she grew up with her dad micromanaging the Nightosphere into causing as much misery and confusion as possible) and she hates how people just assume she’s lazy and doesn’t care.

Grass Prince: Once Finn Martens, a pre-war kid with an overactive imagination who dreamed of a life of adventure. Finn stumbled on a cursed magic item known as the Grass Sword - which bonded with him and slowly transformed him into a crazy grass warrior with plant controlling powers. Nowadays Grass Prince rules over the Grass Kingdom (an idyllic grassland populated mainly by jerky sheep and Grass Prince's beloved lazy herding dog Jake). He usually goes around believing he’s “saving” or “helping” people regardless of what’s the actual situation and if the people want to be saved/helped at all and he’s generally really destructive and obnoxious about it. Very hot-headed and quick to fight due to the influence of the Grass Sword. He view Simon and Gunter either as apprentices heroes/sidekicks or as villains he’s trying to reform, he’s kinda indecisive about this

Bonnibel the Mad Scientist: Firstborn of the Mother Gum, created shortly after the Mushroom War. Bonnibel is a full-blown mad scientist, who performs weird and often morally questionable candy-themed experiments in her spooky isolated cabin by Butterscotch Lake. Although reluctant at first, preferring to isolate herself in her lab far away from the outside world, she does become good friends with Simon due to their shared nerdy interests (Simon also has a huge one-sided crush on her. He finds the whole mad scientist thing equal part really scary and really attractive), and she also makes amends regarding her ruined relationship with Queen Marceline. Bonnibel also has a powerful bond with Finn Martens AKA Grass Prince that goes back the time they were both little kids surviving together in the post-apocalyptic landscape of just after the Mushroom War, before the Grass Sword had fully consumed Finn.

10. the worst book u have ever read?

You know, I really wish I had a spicy answer for this, but, um, I actually don't know? There's been books I haven't loved of course, or that have disappointed or bored me, but it's hard to think of a book I actually hated. The one book that comes to mind is one I checked out of the library as a kid called...Ghost Cat or something? I tried to Google that title and variations on it but none of the results matched my memory. Anyway, I'm pretty sure I gave up partway through because it was not, in fact, about a ghost cat, and my mom read the whole thing and said it wasn't good and was not about a ghost cat, sooo I always resented it. But again, I have no clue who authored the book or what it was actually about. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The Spear Cuts Through Water by Simon Jimenez. 2022, fantasy. Our protagonist visits a theatre in their dreams, where they are shown the story of two warriors tasked by a dying god with helping her end the reign of her tyrannical sons. That's the shortest way I can sum it up, but there's a lot going on in this book (time loops! storytelling! tortoises!), and it's all super interesting.

Where You Come From by Saša Stanišić. 2021, autofiction/fantasy. The author tells stories (which may or may not be true) about his family before, during, and after the Bosnian War, interwoven with anecdotes about his grandmother who is dying of dementia in the present day. The last chunk of the book is a choose-your-own-adventure story featuring dragons (!).

Racecraft: The Soul of Inequality in American Life by Karen E. Fields & Barbara J. Fields. 2012, nonfiction, sociology/history. The book I'm reading right now. An anthology of essays about racism and "race" in the United States. I legitimately think this book should be required reading in schools. Everyone should read this book, especially (if I may be salty for a moment) anyone who has ever peddled those dreadful self-help pop anti-racism books like White Fragility that have gotten so much traction in the last few years while saying absolutely nothing of value.

Mirrorverse Crossover- Kagami

Amidst all the painfully boring lessons from her mother, the ones about perfect throne posture, annunciation, how to properly sip tea, flower arrangements, harp lessons, proper hair care, and those damned history lessons, there was one Kagamerida took to heart.

"Hold yourself with power, grace, and poise when in the presence of the enemy. Show that you are not afraid, that you, as the future Queen, are the one in the room who holds the power."

And that's exactly what she did when she walked into the room. Her head was held high as she kept her arms behind her back, itching to grab her bow if this villainous version of her made just one wrong move. The warmongering version of her stood on the other side of the room, the shadows working in her favor to give her a menacing demeanor that would have some of her friends cowering, but Kagamerida has faced a literal demon bear. Without her army, this girl is nothing.

The princess soon stopped in the middle of the room, sporting a look daring the other girl to do or say anything.

With a quiet huff, Shan Kagami stepped out from the shadows and took a few steps forward. With her now in the light, Kagamerida can see the blade strapped to her waist. A jagged jian. Ring pommel. It has a long grip that can be held with one or two hands. If she loads her arrows quick enough before she delivers a blow and aims right, she might just have a shot at besting her.

"So," Shan Kagami's voice cuts through the air like a blade. "I suppose I am to bow in her excellency's presence?"

Kagamerida quirks an eyebrow. Oh, she would love to silence her, but there's another lesson her mother taught her.

"Princesses do not start fights. They end them."

So, she will let the warrior say what she pleases until she draws her sword.

"No need," the princess answers sharply. "We are merely here to talk. Let us talk."

A darker look crosses over Shan Kagami's face. "Oh, if you insist, Princess. Shall we talk about how your mother failed to keep her husband safe from that demon bear?" Seeing Kagamerida tense up, she smirks. "How she lost her eyesight in the midst of battle with a forest animal and is now about as useless as-"

Kimton groans. "Aw, again?! I wanna see them wail on each other!" Feeling a slight prick on his neck, he slowly turns his head and sees Marilan pointing her sword at his neck.

"Yield. Now," she threatens. The hunter gulps, turns, and sits quietly is his seat.

"What the hell?" Fairy GodBro taps his bubble to try and make the static disappear. "I-I can't get it to work. Did one of them hit it? God, how fast are they?"

"COME ON!" Marinette DeVil screamed while Jafadrien was hissing with discontent. "I wanna see some action!" It was no secret to the other villains that the sinister designer and sorcerer harbored feelings for the young warrior. Whenever Shan Kagami draws her sword, they always takes a front-row seat to watch her brutally slaughter an innocent. "TURN IT BACK ON!"

"Your shouting isn't helping!" The fairy yelled back and resorted to hitting the bubble with his wand. His wings flicker rapidly in response to his anger. "I don't know what happened!"

Doctor Cabello tsks and reaches into their purse for something. "Sugar, just use a crystal ball. Quick, effective, and not contaminated by your little fairy magic."

"You know I don't like you using such sinful artifacts," Minister O'Connor murmurs as he squeezes the silver cross attached to his necklace. Doctor Cabello coos and kisses his cheek, causing the redhead's face to turn a bright shade of red. Demolition Denise and Simon Pan watch the exchange between their counterparts with strange expressions.

They whisper, "You can have me do a few Hail Mary's when this is over, choir boy." This leaves Minister O'Connor stammering for a retort until he eventually resorts to murmuring a few prayers.

The Hoodoo Priest tosses Fairy GodBro the head-sized crystal ball, and he stumbles due to its weight when in a matter of seconds, his legs give out, and the ball is pressed on his chest. Kimules easily lifts the crystal ball off of his friend and glares at Ivan Oogie and Julecent, who were standing closes to him, yet did not even make an attempt to help. "So, how does this thing work?... Yo, Doctor!"

Doctor Cabello, along with their shadow are too busy whispering God-knows-what in Minster O'Connor's ears, but it was enough to make them get on their knees and pray to drown out their words. Deciding they've had enough fun with their boyfriend, Doctor Cabello makes their way over and runs their hands over the surface of the crystal ball, making a fine purple mist appear inside of it. When it clears up, the heroes and villains can all see Kagamerida and Shan Kagami engaged in what can only be described as a death combat with Shan Kagami slashing any arrows inches away from hitting her face, and Kagamarida skillfully maneuvering out of the way of her alternate self's sword.

"YESSSS!" Jafadrien hisses. "DESSSTROY HER!"

"Off with her head!" Nathaniel of Hearts cheers.

"Put that Princess in a body bag!" Mylensula shrieks. Ivan Oogie looks at her with all the love in the world as one of the spiders stuffed into him spins heart-shaped webs in his hollowed out eyes.

Maxdrome pets the smooth outer armor of Markov as the small robot rests in his lap, his lips stretched into a sinister smirk. "This would be better with my laser swords."

"Neither my mother nor Marinette need protection!" Kagamerida thunders and fires another arrow at Shan Kagami's head while ignoring the searing pain in her left arm. "THEY WILL DECIMATE ALL IN THEIR WAY!"

Finally, after what felt like hours, one of her arrow finally hit Shan Kagami in the leg, but she didn't falter. Instead, she ripped the arrow out and glared at Kagamerida with a murderous expression. "I will have you choking on your words, you wretch." And she charges at the Princess.

Marinette DeVil watches the warrior with a content look, sighing to herself when she throws that Princess into a wall.

"Shouldn't we stop this before they seriously hurt each other?" Chloestasia worriedly asks, making Lady Chloé Tremaine scoff. "Oh, hi, want me to kick your ass, too, bitch?" The aristocrat looks startled for a moment at the threat before walking away with her nose in the air.

Maxiro plays with the jaw strings of his hoodie as he watches with a bated breath. "I don't see either of them leaving without any sort of injuries. I think Shan Kagami hit her arm before we got the footage working again."

"Heh," Jafadrien chuckles. "That'sss my girl."

"How are you two not worried?!" Snow Myléne all but screams, much to the surprise of her friends since they have never heard her raise her voice. "The girl you say you love was just shot in the leg!" Jafadrien waves her off with a scoff and Marinette DeVil doesn't even grace her with a response. "Show some concern!"

"She has faced countlessss foes during the war and hasss alwaysss lead her army to victory. One princesssss with such a meager weapon will do nothing to-" He's interrupted by a deafening scream, but before he can look at the crystal ball, Fairy GodBro was already covering it with his hoodie. "What. Happened?"

"Nothing," Fairy GodBro squeaks. "Nothing at all." He whispers to BlueRore through his teeth, "Get a healing spell ready, ASAP." The blue fairy nods and hurries out of the room. "... Anyone else wanna... Wanna have a go? Rose, you look up for-"

"KAGAMI!" Jafadrien and Marinette DeVil yell and storm out of the room to check on her.

"... I knew they cared," Snow Myléne quipped.

You know what.. I have a feeling I have to get this out of my chest before big announcements (renewal as I belive it should or the other word that should not be named). I really think this show and especially show runners got us a big deal. First season was exceptional not even gonna talk about this one. Like everything that was said and done and.. Like I literally have no words because I remember when I first decided to give warrior nun s1 a chance (don't get me wrong but the title.. It sounds so freaking funny, dumb, interesting and unbelievable at the same time😅.. For someone who has no idea) I fell in love with it.. So much..with every aspect of the series

It was my comfort show since the first time I watched it, and I belive it will be after whatever news we get in the next weeks.. Just the concept of the show, characters, the way it was filmed, scenes, aesthetic, cinematography, action! EvERYTHING is so great it hurts

Anyway to the point (getting sentimental here sorry)

In s2 they gave us everything they could (whole team of WN) and I mean it, if you watched season 2 you know what I'm talking about. Not just the facts (the fanfic tropes, amazing moments, fight scenes, real characters - which none of them were forced-everything feels so natural! Like backstories? None of them was like straight forward.. Like this character is like this because this and this happened in their life, no. They gave us space, entire warrior nun team gave us space(our own fictional world we can create) to only imagine what happened in-between. I cannot appreciate and thank them enough.

To the point again.. Even if (I pray to God/Netflix for not doing this to us) we.. I don't want to say it.. If the end of the season two is all we get.. We have so much space, by we I mean fans, writers, artists and so on.. To make the most of it (hyperbole) I think in the way the writers team prepared for it-for us as well. The hell! Simon even fought for the after credit scene because he could not let the fans hanging in the unknown. So they've tried to make the best they could.

So with this statement (which is propoably the longest I've ever made) I beg you not to compare avatrice with clexa because trust me I've been there when it happened and it's not the same. Not the Bury your gays trope nor the love story. (not bubbling here. I'm still carrying this fucking pain with me).

With this afrer credit scene they gave us hope they gave us so many stories we can carry on with.. even if it's not on screen.

So with this confusing pep talk I want you to carry on- make art, write fanfiction and so on..

X-Men: From the Ashes Ranked

Honestly as many know- I wasn’t a big Krakoa fan. 

The titles were such a “hit or miss”, I hated the Moira retcon, Laura and several other characters were just horribly written, and after Hickman left the show… the momentum kind of died as well…

Despite bringing dead and depowered X-Men back…Krakoa seemed like we were pretty much only getting the same set of characters featured….

There just WASN’T A LOT that appealed to me.

While I get people’s arguments that this era feels “lost”… many comparing it to Claremont’s “Revolution” era before Morrison; I actually feel better about this era than I have about X-books in a long time. People totally forget that for every good book during Krakoa like “X-Terminators” or “Mauraders”- there was some pretty big STINKERS like “Excalibur”, “X-Force”, “Fallen Angels”, ect…

Honestly as disjointed this era may feel, it at least FEELS like X-Men.

So, after reading several titles, I wanted to rank and briefly review them-

Uncanny- This books is definitely the best of the line! The first arc with Sarah Gaunt was spectacularly creepy and Simone really SHOWS just how much of a comic book pro she is on this book. There’s not a lot of books I would say gets the Claremontian voice right- but this one definitely does! I literally can’t stop singing its praises- if you love the original Claremont, this book is a must read!

2. NYX- While this book ISN’T by any means perfect, I still feel like it has a lot of promise. There really isn’t a book on the rest of the line that has the same young and fresh vibe this one has. The idea of the book is entertaining and when it’s good- it’s fun!…yet, when it’s bad- it’s majorly disappointing. Hopefully the next arc is a bit stronger, because I really DO want this book to succeed! This is the book most X-Men fans WANT.

3. X-Men - While this book definitely FEELS unique in its lineup and fresh… something about it just doesn’t quite work for me. I actually liked the rag-tag lineup but I often feel like it’s bogged down with nostalgia. Remember when Beast went evil? When QQ did kick? When Idie and QQ was at the Jean Grey school?…because this book will definitely remind you! While this book isn’t all bad, my other issue is that it often has the same vibe as Aaron’s “Wolverine and the X-Men” meets Cyclops “Utopia”. There’s a ridiculousness at this point in Scott fixing up another garden and trying to yet AGAIN create another mutant civilization. The book veers into corniness with the jokes and often feels too childish for a main title. While it’s definitely not the worst title… Uncanny is a much more solid book if you want A-List X-Men comic.

4. X-Factor- Is fine. It’s not as great as “Marauders” or some of the other Krakoa titles…but it’s fine as a comedy book darkly harpooning on the 1990’s run of mutants being part of a military force. It’s not anything you’ll deeply care about or even remember, but it’s fine for a quick read. I don’t HATE it…but it’s boring. Even the jokes are pretty outplayed and boring. Also…Lorna REALLY just needs to breakup with Havok and be DONE 😬

5. Exceptional X-Men - Again, I think this book has great PROMISE…Kitty falling from earth and working as a waitress after basically being a GOD... And yet- I don’t feel like Kitty works for this kind of story; it makes SENSE for Hellion to have a chip on his shoulder towards Krakoa and Emma and the X-Men and Anole wanting a “normal life”. Surge would have made sense. Hope would have made sense after being propped up as a “mutant messiah”. They basically did this storyline years ago with Sofia in ��New Warriors”…and it made sense then. Kitty… just feels inauthentic and…kind of whiny. I think the biggest problem with this book is it seems like every other title…street title?- NYX is doing it. New students?- Uncanny is doing it. Character bitter after Krakoa is gone?- NYX is again doing it. All these other books are just doing these plot points BETTER. It’s sad because I think this book will survive the chopping  block where NYX might not…which is too bad because I think it’s definitely one of the weakest of the line.

6. X-Force - Oh X-Force. The bane of X-Men fans. I think the LAST time I really enjoyed an “X-Force” title was when KYOST was on the book. While definitely not AS BAD as Krakoa era Percy crackfic levels of crazy… the biggest problem with this book is- it’s boring. Nothing in this title feels greatly developed. Not the villains, not the plot, and not the characters. Everything is “Deus Ex Machina-ed” at the end of every issue. There’s no tension. There’s nothing to keep you in. While you don’t have to fear Beast making murderous Wolverine clones while flying away on a piece of an island or Domino being tortured by a man with a peacock tattoo… you also won’t really remember anything that happens in this book either. While I know sadly it won’t be the first to get cut…because X-Force is historically NEVER dropped no matter HOW bad the writing is…it definitely SHOULD BE.

Overall- I would say “Uncanny”, “NYX”, and “X-Men” were the big winners of “Ashes”…

“X-Factor”, “Exceptional”, and “X-Force” are the rougher titles…

Still I would say again- the biggest problem with most of these are that they’re boring and safe… yet even at their worst I would still say they’re more readable than say “Fallen Angels” or Duggan…

I probably won’t bother with “Phoenix” (honestly I am pretty sick of the Phoenix Force anymore and “Troia Jean” has zero appeal for me)…

Probably won’t bother with Wolverine or Hellverine, unless I hear good recommendations of it online…

I might try “Dazzler”, “Storm”, “Mystique” and “Magik”…

I will definitely read Laura’s solo and review it on here as well”.

But there you go- I really DON’T feel like “Ashes” is as big a failure as people are making it to be online….

For the second half of the bonus Cartoon Network Studios produced stuff (being miniseries, Adult Swim stuff, and Max stuff), favorite character from: Over the Garden Wall, Long Live the Royals, Primal, Black Dynamite (Technically they produced only season 2), JJ Villard's Fairy Tales, Adventure Time Distant Lands, Close Enough, Unicorn Warriors Eternal ( I hear it was supposed to be for Cartoon Network until it got moved to Adult Swim), and Fionna & Cake?

I appricate you finding new ones of these to do. Okay we can skip Long Live the Royals, Primal (Though I have a high opinon of what animation i've seen from it I just procastinate), and JJ Villard.

Over the Garden Wall: I never finished this one back in the day but I did love it's moody atmosphere. It's excellent stuff. My faviorite character was the lead kid Wirt. Elijah Wood did a fantastic job.

Black Dynamite: DYNO-MYTE, DYNO-MYTE: That frog Curtis. He's a fucked up kermit parody. I.. really need to cover that episode and it's sequel. As for the show I loved it. Still do and need to rewatch it. It perfectly captures the charm of the film and takes it one step further, while also having a lot of neat points about black culture my white ass never knew about. IT also has Richard Nixon as it's main antagonist, what's not to love?

Adventure Time Distant Lands: I've only seen Obsidan and Together Again, both absolute bangers. The former gives us allt he gay we'd been missing and is a truly touching tale with some truly awesome music, while Together Again is the finale we deserved and serves as a nice evergreenf inale: they can keep the franchise going, but this serves as a proper finale to the series core. A lot of the cast isn't present.. but that's okay with me. It's the end of FINN'S life and afterlife, and his story. The others don't seem to be over just yet.

Close Enough: Alex. I made no secret of it during the shows running and make even less of one now it's dead and sadly buried. I love Jason Mantzokus in most things and while his viking obession never clicked, I related to a harry man not being quite where he wants to be in his life whose kind of a disater. More of one than me but still. This show is one of my faviortes of the 2020's and if I make it to the end of this cursed decade, and do a proper best shows of the decade list, it'll likely stay that way. It was the best evolution of regular show possible, a spiritual sequel scooting the premise ahead, going from 20 somethings dicking around to late 30 somethings trying to deal with the stress of adult life: a complicated divorce, raising a child, and having to rescue said child from a birthday dimension and talk to a Kate Miccui present monster that makes out with the dimensions god when you leave. So fairly relatable grounded adult scenarios.. still given the insane JG Quintel touch: from logans run as a night club, to your papa having to both help you escape hell and explain why you shoudln't fear the hosptial, to a small child conquering her pre school and turning it into a post apocalypse because of breakfast for dinner. It was a true masterpiece and should be remembered.

Unicorn Warriors eternal: I need to go back and finish this one as I only watched three episodes but it';s a gorgeous, unique fun as hell series with a great premise. Faviorite character is hard to say with what little iv'e seen.

Fionna and Cake: Simon. Loved him in the og and tom kenny really gets to flex. I loved this show. It made a few slots on my best of list last year and will likely do so again whenever season 2 drops, as even with me shortening it from 20 to 12, it's still a standout. An emotional story about accepting your life where you are and not wallowing in your regrets, that creatively uses the what if scnearios to create a ton of good worlds, from a seeming swap with a sinister secret to seeing what it'd be like if the lich really won. It's a masterpiece and I look forward to seeing how they follow this up.

Also since we're in the cn lands and I don't THINK we've done this one yet.. why not adult swim? It's original shows and some of it's aquireid shows.. i.e. make sure mission hill and the oblongs are included as while fox shows, they feel more like Adult Swim. Baby blues
