Marceline has been human for what, three days at this point? And she's not used to the feeling of "hungry" because for the last thousand years she's only known "thirsty" and she clearly forgot that food is a necessity (or, she was so used to starving as a human that going days without eating just doesn't cross her mind as unusual)

Either way, she's so entirely unfamiliar with the feeling of "hungry" that she thinks the hollow need in her guts is a kind of love

She equates love with something unfulfilled, being empty, being hollow, needing something but unsure of what that something is, just knowing that it needs to be soothed but not knowing what to ask for (someone give this woman a hug, Jesus Christ)

Until she's given food and she gorges herself on it and she asks if she can have fulfilment to her basic needs more often, and Bonnibel says yes, all the time (Or, yes, I can fulfill your desire to be loved all the time, forever, but not at this exact moment, because vampires, just enjoy having some food for now instead)

ngl I hate the “x deserves better” take when it comes to canon sapphic ships like I saw someone comment “marceline deserves better” and I’m like the moral complexity of the characters is the appeal of the dynamic. Their opposites attract vibe in aesthetic, lifestyle and identity is why we like seeing them together. These are fictional fucking women and we enjoy that we can escape into worlds where that complexity and redemption can be explored. But when it comes to men especially romance shadow daddies being paired with naive young women or male MC’s ya’ll really dgaf. You just draw the line at sapphics because you think lesbians are supposed to be cute and cottagecore and get scared when a fictional sapphic dynamic deviates from that. The hilarious thing is that Bubbline is a coughing baby compared to like… Villaneve or JackieShauna so maybe go watch adult sapphic media, actually embrace the genre a bit, and then maybe come back to Bubbline. Because I genuinely believe this whole “toxic” thing is unserious. Their relationship is genuinely healthy.
