Parts 1 and 2 - I was feeling really bleh with a lot of things happening irl and this is one of my comfort watches.

That's great to hear!! And the light novel is licensed in English too, that's always good to see. It seems like isekai is prime real estate for canon poly--you can make up any rules for the world that you want and not worry about existing anti-polygamy/polygyny laws lol!

It makes my used-to-want-to-minor-in-poli-sci heart happy (decided against it because oof essays and also oof stem major). It has worldbuilding! It has magic! How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom is a really good manga. Just finished volume 9. I believe there's much more translated in the light novels as well.

In the mood for a specific kind of anime. It needs to be like... 6/10. Simple plot, simple characters. Anime tropes left and right. Maybe a boring nobody boy protagonist probably surrounded by a bevy of beautiful maidens. I don't want to have a single thought or feeling while watching it.

What I Read in June 2024

reread, and I really need to get more of this series. It's so cute.

So creepy and crawly for this volume in the series. *shudder*

Didn't even know about the newer American Girls, I really liked it.

I hate Apollo in this series so much. Interesting to see how Ares reacts to be turned down by Persephone. Also Hades and Persephone's longing for each other is also adorable.

Finally have a physical version! Reading on webtoons is fine but I prefer actually being able to hold what I'm reading.

Time to meet Aximili!

I love the anime so I decided to check-out the manga...the boobs are little absurd, but over all I enjoyed it.

Found books 1-4 of this series at a local thriftstore and couldn't resist starting book one (I'm a sucker for pretty covers) I really liked book 1 it was my kind of thing.

This was really cute.

Stumbled across the anime on youtube and couldn't resist at least getting volume 1. I love Gerard and Clotho so much!!!

Plot premise:  Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki Together with his talented aides, the "Realist Hero" Kazuya Souma continues his quest of reinvigorating the Elfrieden Kingdom through administrative reform. Having successfully conquered Van—the capital city of the Principality of Amidonia—Kazuya now faces the envoy from Gran Chaos Empire, who wishes to impose punishment for breaching the ban on war established by the Mankind Declaration Treaty. Despite the dire situation, Kazuya sees a path to avoid unnecessary conflict whilst gaining new allies. With his plan being seemingly perfect, the only barrier to success is gaining approval from the envoy.

± As the second season expands into external issues after managing to unite the kingdom, it does finally step into a couple of actually Machiavellian courses of actions and not just ideology. It still remains a smart political story and starts to cover the international relations that a kingdom could develop. It's pretty fun, even though the harem part went a little over the line by basically hypnotizing Souma into revealing his feelings rather than letting the characters talk about it, eep. But i suppose it's at least nice how they all genuinely care in some way.
