Tangle has such good Cool Big Sis energy with Tails . . . like in a lot of ways she has similar drive and energy to Sonic (albeit maybe a little less responsible in some areas since she's new to adventuring and mostly just grew up living a normal life in a normal town), and so in that way it's easy to see how she and Tails could become really fast friends if they were ever given more time to work with each other. But even apart from that, we've already seen how she would look after him, too, because even if she lived in a normal life in a normal town and was never responsible for looking out for anyone else (she and Jewel are the same age I'm pretty sure), she still would if given the opportunity and we actually have that with Tails in canon.

Like I don't blame the characters for the bad writing in Forces because obviously they have no agency over how they were written, and Tails in particular was just butchered in that game, but . . . well, given that we see Tangle working with Tails and checking in on his emotional state right after the Metal Virus ended and Sonic went MIA, I feel pretty confident in saying that she wouldn't have just let him fuck off into the wilderness if he ever "lost it" during an apocalypse scenario. Like again, the fact that Amy and Knuckles did during Forces is just another example of bad writing in that game, but Amy isn't that much older than Tails and Knuckles is used to being a loner, so I could kind of give it a pass. But Tangle really stepped up here and checked in on Tails and didn't let him just brush her off, and she's just such a Cool Big Sis who, yes, will absolutely help him test fire new rocket launchers with no safety gear and 100% agrees that cookies are an acceptable breakfast, but also genuinely cares about his emotional well-being and will look out for that, too.

Also, they're cool tail buddies. What's not to love?

I think all the star wars fans out there need to listen to some sci fi podcasts, then re evaluate whether THIS is really the media you want to put your emotional investment into. Disney is such a piece of shit and they don't even hide it, just so many of us are either numb or perpetually angry to a point where it's emotionally draining. Just saying, Wolf 359 will make you ask questions that some of y'all desperately need to ask yourselves. Penumbra is hitting so many sci fi tropes and vibes but flat out doing it BETTER than Disney ever could. They're both like if Star Wars was actually as good as we pretend it is, and then better.

ISTJ and INFJ on rules

ISTJ: The thing is, I always need rules. I need someone to give me guidelines about what to do and how to do it. They give me a frame to operate in and make me feel safe because I know all the boundaries, and when there’s no frame, I just feel lost and can’t do anything at all. But when I asked my supervisor how to do something recently, she just yelled at me that I was annoying and that I should just do it as I please. But that just doesn’t work for me. 

INFJ: That’s so rude of her, but I see what you mean. I always think in rules when it comes to social situations. Like, this is how you conduct yourself in this situation and this is the speech register you use in that situation and so on. But social rules are never set in stone. They fluctuate depending on the person you’re talking to and the situation you’re in. And I always need to know the rules that apply right now, but I feel like I never do and so I’ll just stand there like an idiot staring at everyone trying to figure out the rules that they are all collectively following. But if someone were to explain the social rules to me, I’d just send them to hell. It’s a problem.

ISTJ: Yeah, that’s difficult too. Some people are so good at changing themselves for other people, like completely change the way they act and talk just to be liked by other people. I don’t know how they’re doing it. Sometimes I try to adapt to others, but there’s always this rage inside of me screaming that I have to stay true to myself. I just can’t be different than how I already am.

INFJ: Really? I think I’m quite good at adapting and changing for other people, actually. I mean, it’s a completely automatic progress, but only if it’s other people approaching me. Then it’s always like something flipped a switch inside of me and suddenly I instinctively know what to do and what to say to be liked by the other person. But me approaching other people? Hell no. I wouldn’t know where to start because I’ve had no input yet on what they expect or want to see in me, you know? It’s like I’m a mirror on the wall. Other people can come and look at me and see something of themselves reflected back at them. That’s fine. But I’m hanging on the wall. I can’t move and force other people to look at me before I know the rules on how to make a look at me compelling enough.

ISTJ: Hm. Yeah, I don’t get that feeling, but I get what you mean about the social rules, I think. It’s like when you offered to drive me home earlier, that’d be a new situation for me and I don’t know yet how I’d feel about it once I’m sitting in your car and I wouldn’t know the rules on how to behave, so I’d rather not. Also, I made a plan to try to confront my fear of public transport, so I want to stick to that plan and take the train. Thank you though.

He finds your sarcastic humour hilarious and joins in from time to time. He thinks its kinda funny that you’re all cute looking but is the opposite in personality. He admires that you dont care about appearances much.

Kyle Broflovski would be a bit surprised but i think he would notice way earlier.

Sometimes he might look around the cafeteria to look at the other tables and he saw you with the girls. You ate a bit more than some of the other girls but most of the time, you hung out more with Guys. Overall, he doesn’t really give a care but he thinks you’re pretty and cool :)

Eric Cartman would think you’re trying to fit in with the guys as an act at first.

Overtime, he kinda just tolerates you? I mean he gave you some cheesy poofs and you both share the love of eating plenty. You both do swear challenges sometimes lol. Hes not that much of a fan of the cutesy look but he thinks you look fine.

and idk it's like... difficult to separate how funny they are to us, from beyond the 4th wall vs those inside the 4th wall

readers get the whole experience. i obviously delight in writing them. but there's usually a bit of a set up for it to happen, or the funny part is their anti-climatic or non-sequitur nature. it's like verbal blue-balling, if you think about it.

he never feeds into the antagonism (or at least, he tries not to even when frustrated). his lines work because they aren't done out of malice and he's not concerned with looking cool when doing it. it's just who he is - trying to live, laugh, love (basketball)

his bitchiest and snappiest comments are probably w tatsuya but they have that rapport

his 'lines' to the team and opposition are funny in the moment but they need that moment. and if you try to rank them as seirin, they'd each need to explain the joke to each other and then it becomes less funny
