Thinking about the exceptional work the wardrobe/costume department did on The Passenger.

Kyle Gallner and Johnny Berchtold are a lot closer in size than Benson and Randy appear to be (which is to say Benson appears much bigger than Randy).

Benson’s clothes hang off of Randy, he’s practically swimming in them. Meanwhile, they’ve put Benson in a bulky cardigan and a white t-shirt, both of which create the illusion of him being significantly larger, on top of the already established idea of “Look how big Benson’s clothes are on Randy”. I would love to see them swap outfits and see if the illusion is flipped.

Even the way they wear their work clothes -the same outfit- they manage to make Benson look noticeably bigger.

Benson’s sleeves are rolled up and his shirt is tucked in, as opposed to Randy, whose sleeves are down and who wears his shirt untucked.

But if you look at the actors themselves out of character dressed similarly, suddenly they don’t necessarily look all that different build-wise.

Kyle Gallner is absolutely shredded as hell, but Johnny Berchtold is not the bird-boned, waif-like boy that Randy is and is muscular/fit himself.

Idk, I just think it’s fascinating how they took a character who was, personality wise, so significantly bigger and translated that physically despite there not being a major difference in their sizes.
