A few interesting parallels in the SoC duology that I don’t think I’ve seen anyone talk about yet
(Analysis/discussion of these parallels/quotes may come later if anyone's interested)
“These creatures were made to be weapons” - Jarl Brum on Grisha, Six of Crows chapter 35
“He looked like what he truly was: a weapon” - Jesper Fahey on the Khergud, Crooked Kingdom chapter 36
“Welcome to the Hellshow” - Kaz to Nina, Six of Crows chapter 6
“Welcome to the Ice Court, Nina Zenik” - Matthias to Nina, Six of Crows chapter 34
“Is this a play?” - Alys Van Eck “Yes love, and you’re the star” - Jesper Fahey, Crooked Kingdom chapter 8 when Alys is taken captive
“What was this but a play Kaz had staged, with that poor sucker Kuwei as the star?” - Jesper Fahey on the auction plan, Crooked Kingdom chapter 36
“he looked like a priest come to preach to group of circus performers” - Inej on Kaz’s appearance in comparison to the rest of the Barrel, Six of Crows chapter 2
“started to preach” - Inej on Kaz leading a coup against Per Haskell, Crooked Kingdom chapter 27
“Whoever he had become, Matthias was not going to shoot someone unarmed. He'd not yet sunk so far” - Matthias Helvar, Six of Crows chapter 29
“I am unarmed” - Matthias Helvar, Crooked Kingdom chapter 38
"I didn't even know the rules of Makker's Wheel" - Jesper Fahey on his first night gambling in the Barrel, Six of Crows chapter ()
"He knew his guns better than he knew the rules of Makker's Wheel" - Jesper Fahey on the concept of aim and its relationship to his life and his zowa/Grisha abilities, Crooked Kingdom chapter 36
“a tiny voice inside him said he should offer to take the drug as well […] maybe he could have helped to draw the parem out of Nina’s system and set her free. But that was a hero’s voice and Jesper had long since stopped thinking he had the makings of a hero” - Jesper Fahey, Six of Crows chapter 44
“Matthias gave you the remaining parem, didn’t he?” “So?” “[…] I can’t let my father down again. I need the parem as a security measure” “No” “Why the hell not?” - Jesper and Kaz in discussion about the auction plan, Crooked Kingdom chapter 30
I'll probably be back to add more, feel free to add your own as well

I R EMMEBERED TO SEND YOU ANOTHER ONE. 🌠🌪️🖍️🎀✏️✂️🏊🌌 november
Tumblr media
sicko at the window for talking about beans
🌠 SHOOTING STAR - if they could make any wish with no repercussions, what wish would they make?
for if everything didn't happen (legacys deaths? the supernova? them?)
🌪️ TORNADO - what is the biggest change you've ever made to them? how have they changed from their original version?
November's characterization and appearance has actually stayed consistent since making them. At most, he doesn't talk as much anymore in his default state, and avoiding being outside of their suit more.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One thing that was retconned was a scene when November talked about missing safety railings. That was originally from Greyvember whose character was developed further later on, so the dialogue doesn't suit him anymore and Northvember said it instead.
🖍️ CRAYON - what advice would you give to them?
uhhhh that's rough buddy
🎀 RIBBON - how would they fit into other worlds / aus? what aus would you like to try out? what fictional world would they fit / not fit into?
November is really weird to fit into other worlds. He can't be in anything that doesn't include some form of a supernatural/magic system and/or creatures? Because if I were to simplify his concept down to what's recognizable: November is a collection of souls associated with a form or container where they attempt to be one guy or one thing. So any "modern au" without supernatural elements wouldn't really work. November's situation is not equivalent to irl cases of DID. Fantasy settings are probably fine. Be some weird cursed person or artifact, easy. Armoured suit November? could you imagine. There's a Pokemon AU for Modleyverse, where the only difference is that Pokemon exist. BUT. If November WAS a Pokemon, they're like a Spiritomb.
✏️ PENCIL - is there a particular quote / lyric that you associate with them?
From the playlist made for them uhhh maybe these parts
Tumblr media
from Each Time I Die - Bones & Beeker
Tumblr media
from November - Sparkbird
✂️ SCISSORS - what is the "last straw" for them to cut someone out of their life? how easily do they let go of people?
November so far hasn't been in a situation where it's gotten to that. It's theoretically very easy to get November to start avoiding you if they become afraid. An example is when Mars accidentally sliced the suit and November got scattered and panicked, and so started associating Mars with his tools rather than as crewmate. They got slightly better though, because they're both on a spaceship with nowhere to go, with Mars trying to coax November out of the vents, and something keeps urging November to do his tasks, so he couldn't hide forever. Other situations wouldn't resolve as easily, especially if November doesn't have any connection to the person prior.
🏊 SWIMMING - can they swim? or are they afraid of water? how well do they swim? how do they feel about swimming in the ocean?
Nope! It's really hard to swim with a suit, and otherwise would be extinguished if it's enough water. If with a proper suit, still cannot swim well at all. How they feel about swimming depends, but you're most likely to get either "no.. that's scary.." or "yes, I am an excellent swimmer :)!" and proceeds to not move because of subconscious self-preservation.
🌌 MILKY WAY - what was the inspiration behind your oc? what was the first thing you decided about them?
First was their name. I just like code word stuff so I picked a couple names from the phonetic alphabet (my beloved) for an astronaut character. I think I had: bravo, kilo, november, tango, and whiskey? Friends suggested november because I was using the white suit and the month of november is cold. This influenced having a winter outfit theme later as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Visually, November was recycled from an old UOHRPG (different OC world) enemy + Vashta Nerada from Doctor Who
Other influences were also: The Flood (The Waters of Mars episode) which were liquid parasite colonies The Lux Foundation Library/Doctor Moon's concept of "saving" (which are also from Silence in the Library which is where the Vashta Nerada were introduced, and were the reason needing "saving") (cuz November is both the murderer and victim) That one specific burnt Elsen from OFF (which is what the UOHRPG enemy was inspired by) And the specific discomfort and fear I got from Everyman being swarmed in Undertale Obligatory The Thing mention, which may have also helped with the winter theme. And I like fur hoods, winter clothing in general -> the jacket/bag helmets and gas masks -> the fighter jet helmet uniform/military dress uniforms -> hat/neck tie/aiguilettes

I think the apology she wanted from Joe was for him choosing a movie above the opening night of her biggest tour and not jetting back for the opening night. From Taylor's behaviour we can see it's super important for the boyfriend to be there for her tour.
Obviously he was filming and it would have been disruptive for him to do this but I can see her expecting this (also given Joe was away working during other important events for her like Red TV release or the Graduation thingy)
Her remark to Travis saying "jetlag is a choice " and flying around the world for the Superbowl after the last night in Tokyo cements this. She has been dropping quotes about how important it is for the partner to show up and support her in interviews & even in pressers about the Travis relationship
well now that she has a partner who is always there for her important events, she should start focusing on him instead of trying to shade her ex at any given chance. she got what she wanted so why's she still fussing. also here's a list of all the important events that joe attended for her:
1. The jbb concert (her first performance after the cancellation era) he also jetted back from his movie set (the operation finale) to be there for Taylor. Jet lag was a choice back then too.
2. Several rep concerts including the opening night. He attended with his friends, family and co-stars.
3. The Prime concert where she couldn’t stop looking at him.
4. CATS premiere
5. Vmas afterparty in 2023 (even when things were rough)
6. grammys afterparty 2023 (see he attended when he could)
7. golden globes 2020, as her plus one
8. nmes 2020, as her plus one
9. He couldn’t be there at her graduation ceremony but he sent his whole family to support her. His mom was there for Taylor at atw premiere as well.
10. He also went to Paris during lover promo in 2019
11. Lover photoshoot + mv shooting set
These are all I can think of right now but i can confirm there are more events when he was there for her as a support system. During the span of six years he's been there for her from time to time. swifties like to paint him as a bad boyfriend when it's literally not true. I don’t see Taylor's athlete boyfriend joining her promotional work events and if I brought it up swifties will say tk has his own job restrictions. But where is the same energy when it's Joe who couldn’t attend her important events due to job restrictions as well? The tunnel vision of making Joe a villain and a bad boyfriend is so embarrassing, like they know it's not true. Also I hope taylor's very supportive boyfriend will keep up the same energy after six years (if he survives for that long lol)

THE SUNS AND MOONS INCORRECT QUOTES PART 2 (star edition)
——————————————————
Twilight: I’m telling you, my team is competent.
Estella, rushing in: Twilight! Soul tried to make pasta in the coffee pot and now it's broken!
————
Soul, to Twilight and Estella: *holding trident out in front of them* {Are you or are you not an enemy of the people?!}
Twilight: ...
Estella: ...
Twilight: That is such an open-ended question.
Estella: Yeah, it really depends on a lot of different factors-
————
Twilight, watching Estella do something stupid: Soul, you're officially only the second highest risk here.
Soul: {Hell yeah! I'm gonna—}
Twilight: Don't finish that sentence, you'll move back up.
————
Estella: Soul and I were crossing the street, and this person drove by and honked at us.
Twilight: What did you do?
Estella: He chased them to the next red light, and reached into their window, and-
Soul: *walking in* {Who wants a steering wheel?}
————
Soul: {I have so much energy, I want to run a marathon or commit a crime... which should I do?}
Twilight: Please don’t get arrested.
Soul: {No promises! <3}
Estella: Why not both? Get creative!
Soul: {Wonderful suggestion, thank you.}
Twilight: Please don’t encourage him, Estella.
————
Twilight: It's locked. You got a lock pick?
Estella: Yeah-
Soul: *kicks in the door*
————
Twilight: It’s Pride Month, you know what that means!
Estella: I get to eat as many Skittles as I want?
Twilight: What? No! What has Soul been telling you?
Soul, walking in, pouring Skittles into his mouth: {Taste the rainbow, bitch.}
————
*Something crashes*
Estella: Shoot-
Twilight: *running into the room in a panic* WHAT FELL?!
Soul: *walking by the room calmly* {What died?}
————
Soul: {Uh, I think I got your lunch.} *Holds up a note that reads: ‘I am very proud of you. Love, Twilight’*
Estella: Oh yeah. I didn’t think this was for me. *Holds up a note that reads: ‘Be good. For the love of God, Please be good.’*
————
Twilight: Soul, you’re in charge!
Estella: Soul, can we start a fire?
————
Soul: {Don't worry, I've got a few knives up my sleeve.}
Twilight: I think you mean cards.
Estella: He didn’t.
Soul, pulling out knives: {I did not.}
————
Soul, in a high voice, holding Barbie: {Hey, Ken! I was thinking about going back to school and starting a career!}
Estella, in a deep voice, holding Ken: Nonsense, Barbie. You’re staying home and having my kids.
Twilight: What the buck are you guys doing?
Soul: {Playing systemic oppression.}
————
Estella: Why does Twilight always do the laundry so loudly?
Soul: {So everyone knows that no one helps her out in the house.}
Twilight, in the distance: *slams the washing machine shut*
————
*Soul rushes by with an armful of water bottles*
Estella: What's going on?
Twilight: Soul wouldn't drink water.
Estella: ...And?
Twilight: And I asked him how fast he could chug an entire bottle.
Soul, loudly: {16 OUNCES IN TEN SECONDS, BITCHES!}
————
Estella: How did you even get in here?
Soul: {Twilight's window! Or, as I like to call it, "Soul's door"!}
Twilight: I’m closing the window.
————
Twilight: And here we see Soul and Estella in their natural habitat. Texting eachother variations of the word "garlic bread" to try to make eachother laugh.
Soul: {Gaelic bread.}
Estella: Grueling brad.
Soul: {Ha ha, glamorous beans.}

Okay, it's Mugram time. It took a while but I'm a much better writer than a reader. This is sarcasm I've had this in the back of my mind for a while and I've just gotten enough free time to really catch up on everything I was interested in. Sadly my attention is rather up and down with a lot of things. So, I'll be going over my first responses to the information provided so far and highlighting things that stick out to me.
Welcome to Gunsli and once again Star's notes on Mugram!
The Files
Es
Gunsli: In Mugram Es goes by He/They and is identified as a Demiboy. I just find this interesting in general. I also like how it's noted that Es believes without a shadow of doubt that all the prisoners within Mugram are guilty. Yet, is choosing to adhere to J's words and look into the prisoners and their circumstances further.
This is a good way to highlight that Es has a bias that's leans more unfavorably in regards to the prisoners from the jump. This stated bias also leads me to wonder about the last part of their file.
"Es plans on finding out the truth behind these prisoners so he can finally give them the verdicts they deserve."
Because it just screams of confirmation bias a little bit. So I wonder how he'll end up interpreting the audiences verdicts.
Es even has to catch themselves from saying murders in their first voice drama lines and instead state crimes. As though they themselves already firmly believes the prisoners are all murderers. This plays on the fandoms and my own particular habit of taking milgram very literally in contrast to those within the fandom who will take things more figuratively.
There are a lot of people within the fandom who like to stretch the meaning of the word murder. To be fair, this is something that is easier for people to wind up doing. Especially when they themselves have not experienced the loss of a loved one due to something of that nature. A persons comfort with discussing violent crimes more hypothetically is incredibly dependent on their proximity to the concept of violent crime or how likely they believe it is for these things to happen to them.
Someone worried about being shot isn't going to really care about comparing anything less than what causes an immediate end to their life or physical harm a violent crime. While people protected by the individuals who do the shooting aren't really going to consider what those people are doing murder but self-defense.
So, having Es course correct from murder to crimes broadens the idea of what the prisoners can be in Mugram for. Crime is a broader term that gives the audience more space to assume and doesn't necessarily have to involve someone dying. Unlike the original term murderers that can be taken in incredibly subjective ways depending on ones proximity and experiences with murder.
"Hello, prisoners. I am your Warden, Es. I want to know about the mur– crimes you have committed. I am here to decide on your crimes, whether to decide that you are FORGIVABLE OR UNFORGIVABLE. I am... Es... I am the Warden of MUGRAM."
Finishing up with,
"...Well, no matter, I’ll figure it out in the end and judge them according to the law–"
Making it clear that Es' primary concern is judging the prisoners within Mugram in ways that align with the legal system.
Star: Hi! First of all, I think this is the tallest Es I've seen- in an ocgram and in any of the canon works. Though the age range does fit. However, the way that both their description and quote is written leaves me to believe they will be more inclined to vote unforgiven regardless of what he finds out. Furthermore, it shows a stubborn nature- someone who tends to stick to their beliefs regardless of any information shown. Whether that be in the present or future.
It also comes off as Es being the type of person to look for loopholes within the rules they have to follow to get to his intended outcome. (I need to specify that I don't think this is a bad trait by any means- it makes him feel as though he's more willing to act on his own discretion. Which is something I think would be very fun to play with.)
I also like the aesthetic of using files to show character profiles! The brief glimpses I've seen of Mugram before seem to portray it in a very court of law fashion so it's a nice attention to detail.
J
Gunsli: In contrast, J (the Jackalope of Mugram) is young naïve and can't even imagine the prisoners committing murder. Even referencing the three years old age for J that was speculated to be Jackalopes canon age earlier in the fandom. Since many ran with the assumption that Jackalope within the web series only began to exist when Milgram started.
Yes, even though in Es' first voice drama Jackalope makes consecutive references to his age and alludes that he is, in fact, older than Es. By teasing them and wondering if they're too young to actually handle the themes that Milgram will be covering.
I think it's a nice dichotomy to have here while being a kind of subtle nod to that idea. Though I don't know how much we should listen to either of them.
Since they both have clear biases.
Star: I like J's fur pattern- it's cute! And I appreciate having a birthday for him. Though the fact that he wants to forgive everyone seems as though he's overly invested. Emotionally speaking, that is. I could say that there's also the possibility that he's negligent/unaware of the prisoners past a first impression? Since his quote-
"I mean, in my opinion, I'd just FORGIVE all of them. Some of them don't seem like they'd ever commit murder. But, it's really up to you, Es."
-comes off as rather flippant. However, if we refer back to Es' profile, it's implied with this-
He believes there is no doubt the prisoners are guilty, but they'll listen to J's words and try to learn about their lives.
-that Jackalope specifically asked them to enquire about their circumstances. So it's more likely that he's either too attached emotionally or that he is gunning for reformation instead, for lack of a better word.
The Beginning of the Choices
Gunsli: It's kind of weird that J says they're murderers then that some of them seem like they could never kill anyone. It's like, buddy, do you even know why they're in here? If they don't seem like they could commit murder don't call them murderers so definitively.
It seems like J is more so going off a script of sorts than information they actually have. Since he contradicts himself a lot.
Plus it kind of sticks to Milgram proper with the explanation and heavily highlights the forgiven or unforgiven title. It emphasizes it a lot. Yet when it comes to people dying I feel like the only people who can really choose whether to forgive that or not are the ones tied to those people.
Mugram focuses on the legal system. So, legally they could be pardoned or convicted/sentenced. To keep it unforgiven or forgiven makes it seem like what they did has no real legal basis. At least that's the impression it's giving off.
Star: It's... hard to put a pin in J's behaviour. Because, as Gunsli has said above, it could come off as reading a script. But then immediately contradicting it with personal opinions and not actually being that informed. However, it could also come off as... almost goading Es into doing due diligence. Though that might be extending the benefit of the doubt too much. It is a bit disconcerting when compared to his and Es' character profiles though.
Justice
Gunsli: Well, that at least confirms the growing suspicions I had about J. It seems he's kept here in the Milgram with even a room of his own. So he's really no different than the prisoners in that regard.
Es: What’s opposite my room?
Jackalope: My room! You can’t enter without my permission, though.
Es: Eh, I don’t plan on it. Plus, there’s no door big enough for a human anyway.
There wasn't a room for Jackalope in the original was there?
Star: I find it interesting that, in contrast to Milgram proper, J claims to not know much about the prisoners because it's restricted information. As opposed to Jackalope, who says he's just not invested enough. I wonder if this is intentional as a way to show that J isn't as high up on the scale as one would be lead to believe? But it does seem like he is pushing for Es to do their job, despite their clear lack of interest in acting outside of the confines of the law.
Es also comes off as fairly dismissive in this, which leans into my point about him coming across as stubborn. And less likely to take in information that contradicts their worldview.
Gunsli: This line highlights again how naive J is in contrast to Jackalope of the web series.
Jackalope: Well, first impressions reveal a lot about a person, so…
In Es' voice drama in the milgram web series around this time Jackalope says,
"A human's first impressions reveal about ninety percent. If I had the right I'd vote guilty without hesitation."
J just says that first impressions reveal a lot about a person. Jackalope is more specific about the amount of information it reveals stating it tells you ninety percent about the person. You can get a good grasp of them but Jackalope as he's prone to do leaves what information it gives up to interpretation. A first impression usually involves learning a persons name seeing how they look/present themselves. Yet it doesn't tell you how they think, feel, or ended up in front of you. That's the ten percent you find out over the course of getting to know someone.
J is a bit too immature to really hone in on what first impressions tell you and what they leave to be desired. So they just say they tell you a lot. Because he was probably told they're meant to tell you a lot by someone else.
J shows his ineptitude when it comes to how Milgram functioned here,
Es: Well, no matter, I’ll figure it out in the end and judge them according to the law–
Jackalope: Eh? According to the law? Well, if we just judged them according to the law, then there’s no point in you being here. [Es makes an annoyed noise] You should make decisions based on your own standards. Even if it's based on sex or love, I have no problem with it.
Es: …Let’s just move on.
When he dissuades Es from making judgments based on their preferences. Saying if we were judging them by the law then there would be no reason for Es to be here. This is something said in the webseries but it is swiftly brought up after that using the law as a reason for a verdict is actually still allowed. Because any bias is allowed and none are excluded.
Yet, for some reason, J tries to exclude the law as a basis. This could be because the prisoners here are already unforgivable in the eyes of the law. So, J has a vested interest in keeping the legal system out of it.
Or due to general naivety.
Since this is Mugram maybe the law is exempt from being considered proper criteria to cast a judgment through.
Judge, Jury, Executioner - Scene Transcript
Gunsli: It's interesting I'm not too concerned about Es yet though. I don't know enough about them and he seems like a bit of a hard ass. I don't really like rigid characters too much. I tend to like people who are more flexible.
Star: Reading this, Es moreso feels like they are trying to cling to some form of control/identity markers, despite him recognising that those roles don't fit. It also makes the continued insistence about voting the prisoners unforgiven seem as though it's an extension of those issues. That combined with the mental image they seem to have of the law and those who work within it. That being said, they know at least one thing about himself- he likes sweet tea! It's something small, but it is something :- D
However, they don't seem as confrontational as they initially come off. Since when J asks if they like the tea, he says yes- despite immediately thinking it's bitter. But also can't wait to see Es fall into dissociative patterns lmao
001: Mayumi Kubo
Gunsli: Weird that's she's arguing for everyone else's innocence but not her own. People tend to do that when they have something they feel guilty about or are trying to make up for. It's also kind of stupid she says that not everyone here can be a murderer. It's a prison of ten they sure as hell could all be murderers statistically speaking.
It's just not as unlikely as she's making it sound.
This might be their glitches voice line,
“You can’t be serious… They can’t be…” or “You can’t be serious… They can’t do…”
Star: Mayumi... doesn't seem as logical as she's trying to come off. Her logic would make sense if this was a normal 'setting'. But it's a very small group that have specifically been picked. So unless she knows any other connecting factors, she can't just presume that anyone isn't a murderer. Though her hidden quote is pretty ambiguous, since it could apply to both a court case or the discovery that someone has died.
Gunsli: They changed the autopsy report on her.
Star: -_- <- look of disappointment.
Thoughts on Voice Drama and Song
Gunsli: Mayumi isn't good at her job. Like she's a comedically bad lawyer. No wonder she couldn't as much as she says she could sway the court. I mean she fails to have any notable deductive reasoning skills and she isn't that charismatic. It doesn't seem as though she's that good with debate when talking within her voice drama either and she backs off too easily.
She just seems bad at this. Before even going into her music video.
I guess if it was a crime to be bad at your profession, then she deserves to be here. If those are Mugram's standards. Yet, failing to get your client off the hook and that client then being killed in jail isn't really a failing of the person defending that individual but the prison system. I don't consider things like that murder and never will. By that logic, the jury should be here as well. Because they're just as responsible, if not more so than this woman. Ya, know; since they decided to put that person there.
But let's talk about this real quick,
"So, don't even worry. I have the command and the proof in my hand. I'll make sure that these things will only sway in my favor."
Me when I lie. Mu Kusunoki core when she said,
"Hey, what if If I am a bad girl Don’t hate me. Don’t even try to proof from “After Pain”."
As though there was no fucking evidence to be found there except there was an abundance of evidence.
This is the opposite of that. She's saying she has evidence when her best argument is did you see my client do it. As though the witness' eyesight has any bearing on any other evidence the prosecution may have outside of that witness. This doesn't even discredit that witness whom she admits was across the street so wouldn't have been able to get a clear look at the situation anyway.
“I have to ask.” Mayumi stands. “Witness, did you see my client actually go over to the store, rob it, and leave minutes after?" "Well, I didn't see her rob it, but the alarm–" The witness starts. "You didn't see her do it." Mayumi points out. "Yes, but–" The witness rubs their neck. "You were across the street from the store; how would you know it was her?" Mayumi stares at the witness, who now is uncomfortably shifting before they finally breathe. "If you don't have any answer, then I guess my line of questioning is over."
No wonder her client had to serve time.
Like I recognize that she may be trying to establish reasonable doubt while the witness is basically going,
"Why did your client run then?"
But the witness is right. Why did your client run? Why was their leave conveniently timed with when the alarm went off? It doesn't look good to leave as soon as the alarm goes off. The fact that her client did that is more concrete than her debate of,
"Well, did you catch her in 4k?"
No I fucking didn't because I don't have cameras for eyes what the fuck type of question. In fact even with just having her perspective on this case. I'd still come out of this thinking she's gullible and her client is lying. Because her client has every motivation to steal. Her client is just running the old question of is stealing okay if it's for a good reason. Such as is it okay to steal food, diapers, or medicine for your family.
And the answer to me is yes, as long as you don't get caught. Once you get caught, it's up to the system to decide if you get leniency or not. However, since her client is vehemently refusing to admit they stole anything, she can't even make the argument they were doing it for a good reason. An argument that might have afforded them more leniency. Because they clearly did it like that's not up for debate.
On top of that, what her client stole is conveniently omitted. Again, this is a display of her being bad at her job. Because that should have been a focus of discussion.
"Your Honor, this is an outrage.” Mayumi stands up. “Surely you can find some leeway–" “It’s clear to me that after all this back and forth what my stance will be.” The judge bangs a gavel and Mayumi swallows with a frown. Don’t condemn anything I say Because I swear I’ll make them pay “...is GUILTY of the charge of theft.” The judge announces.
Her client winding up guilty is the only reasonable outcome here. Since the judge can't give leeway if no additional context on the offenders' circumstances are given. Her entire defense was attempting to disprove the person you were defending did not do something you at a point suspect they did yourself.
What did you think the outcome would be here?
“But, she was clearly innocent!”
Mayumi denial isn't good.
Because if she was innocent, you are just a trash lawyer. I don't even have all the details of that case, and I think your client was guilty because they had the motivation to do it.
Something they do not hide from you,
"Okay, I need you to tell me. Be honest." Mayumi exhales. "Did you steal from the store?" "What?" The client shakes her head vigorously. "No, no! I wouldn't do that. I went there to grab some snacks and medication for my sister. I wouldn't rob the store! I have a job and I'm the only source of income for them and I can't leave them because then–"
What the fuck did she steal to go to prison?
Like where are they where theft is this severe of a charge? Alright, Larceny is punishable with jail time. It's not a long sentence like a max three months to a year. At least where I'm from, but that's still dependent on the price of goods stolen and how often one has been caught stealing.
Tumblr media

However from how it's consistently described as theft and stated to have occurred in a store. What her client did is instead shoplifting or where I'm from retail fraud. Which to be honest has much more severe of a punishment depending on the degree which is again determined by the price of the items stolen,

So, pardon me for asking but what the fuck did her "very innocent" client "allegedly" in her opinion steal? Like I hate to sound like I'm on the side of the prosecution here but I kind of am. Because Mayumi's entire defense is,
"My client didn't do this trust. Your honor my clients vibes are immaculate."
Which isn't good enough.
Still not guilty because I judge murders not oh there's this thing I feel bad about. If anything- the judge should be in here, not her, but still... This entire case is weird. Also, if Mayumi viewed this individual as innocent and I can poke an egregious amount of holes into why that may clearly not be the case it certainly doesn't make me trust her words on the other prisoners. Because she's a comedically bad judge of character.
Star: She comes off as very naïve. Both in terms of how much faith she seemed to have in her client and how she claimed she was going to get said client no jail time, without even bringing up motivation as a potential way to get leeway. She also didn't bring up the idea of a plea deal at any point, which didn't help her client's case. Though this isn't too surprising, given her attitude concerning the prisoners in Mugram. Assuming no one here could possibly be a murderer is a very heavy assumption to make. Doubly so when you decide to act as the advocate to get everyone out based on said assumption.
002: Masaru Iwai
Gunsli: I dare him to incriminate himself. I double-dog dare him to admit what he did on the mic. Only a chicken wouldn't do it. I bet he's too much of a coward to follow through. A real man takes any dare. But his file is right he's all bark, no bite- All kid, no man.
Possible glitchesd voiceline,
“SHIT! FUCK! This wasn’t supposed to happen! We should have left when we saw them – DAMN IT!”
Ha-ha loser did a dare and killed someone. Ha, ha point and laugh at the guy who makes poor life choices at the age of- NINETEEN. Ha that's ridiculous. That actually makes it so much funnier that's exactly what someone like that would be doing at that age.
Star: He's fun! I like him :- D. Should probably work on how headstrong he is though, that's gonna keep getting him in trouble.
Thoughts on Voice Drama and Song
Gunsli: Oh the restraint thing is interesting also the way he's describing this bet thing reminds me of the movie Nerve. That was a pretty fun movie I might watch that again.
Oh wait yeah back to this guy.
Star: It is interesting that mugram has a an in canon reason as to why the prisoners don't leave the interrogation.
Gunsli: I'm going to say this before I even read the song thing- If he's a bad gambler this is going to be hilarious. Mugram is just incarcerating people for being bad at their chosen occupations. Huh it's not good to cheat in card games.
These games are already incredibly predatory without this guy counting cards and bringing spares on him to up his chances. He's a shitty person. The casino already does what he's doing. So maybe he justifies his actions with that. Yet, that only works when he's betting in those areas. He seems to be betting with friends repeatedly and taking their money to the point of financially ruining them.
It doesn't shy away from that either, and it's not even like he's playing fair. Is it really a gamble when you always have an ace up your sleeve? But it doesn't seem like people are too bothered by his consistent winning.
Since two player call him on his bluff,
"The final two players call and Masaru smiles."
Call means to match a players raise. So it's not like they folded, which would have been pulling out entirely. This is usually why people raise to make the more risk-averse pull out.
This is also the reason Masaru states he raised,
"Was it a good idea to raise the betting amount? He wasn't entirely sure, but it would at least weed out the ones who didn't want to be here.  It was a little of a bluff, anyways. Glancing at his cards one final time, he exhales and stares across the table at someone."
To know for sure what he's doing here we'd need to figure out what he's playing. Which is impossible to discern because it's going by both blackjack and poker rules. Where Masaru seems to be playing poker and the other person with a five and ace is playing blackjack. Because there's no case in which one person in a poker game has only two cards.
So, what's more than likely happened is him and his friends were rigging casino games for quick cash.
They all played at different tables. They did this to save up money and may have probably split it amongst themselves. That or something went egregiously wrong when it came to describing these card games, but barring that being the solution-
There's evidence that Masaru and his friends are just running a casino scam.
Sorry, got distracted playing poker and blackjack with my father. But yeah him and his friends seem to be cheating at the casino.
He brings extra decks to add cards to the game if he's lagging behind,
"He looks around the room and walks back to his desk. He slides some boxes into his bag quickly and walks out of the door, shutting the door as he leaves."
This exchange implies his friends are in on it as well,
“Yeah, yeah. We know. You’ve told us many times.” One of the people who paid Masaru groans. “Seriously, I’m going to go bankrupt on this shit.” “Seriously? You should’ve just said. We’ll do a couple with you next time, dude.”
It's also highlighted that he grabs a box of cards from his bag during one of the games and he's shown doing card tricks. Him and his friends seem to frequent this place and could have ordered duplicate decks online or picked them up from somewhere else.
"Masaru instinctively ruffles through his bag to find what he had slid inside it earlier. A box of cards."
Masaru is implied to be better at this than his friends. Knowing when to toe the line and not draw too much attention to himself.
This can be seen here,
"He lays his cards out. Just a pair of normal cards, nothing special. Some show a similar hand, which isn’t too bad. There are a two people who both have a straight, which makes Masaru huff. Splitting the plot."
Only giving himself a good enough hand to stay in the game and split the pot. He's slowly building up to bigger wins as the game progresses. He does say in his voice drama that this is how he frequently makes his money and gambling isn't something that's consistently reliable unless someone is cheating.
His friends don't seem to be as good at it as he is though.
Since one of his friends says they're losing money and on the verge of going bankrupt- Which would have been a perfect time to go just don't play then it's luck based and if you're not winning you just aren't winning. Instead, they say they'll do a couple with them next time as though that could change the outcome. I mean, if they cheated successfully, then it could have changed his friends financial situation a good deal.
But it didn't work out that way; did it?
Instead, what seems to have happened was Masaru's associate was caught and pulled away from the table. Which could have led to all of them getting caught, his friend being arrested, or killed depending on the establishment and how it functions.
Still not direct murder. So, it's none of my personal concern how he decides to make his money and endanger his peers. They're all adults play stupid games win stupid prizes.
Star: Definitely cheating , though that isn't really surprising. With how confident he was making that bet in the interrogation.
003: Keisuke Izumi
“You should have known that wasn’t good for them. You should have known this wasn’t good for them. They’ve died because of you.”
Gunsli: Not to be that person but this guy kind of has the sort of personality I dislike. He seems like the sort to entrust things to others and then get mad when they don't turn out how he wanted. Sure he's trusting and cooperative but honestly it kind of comes off like he's only being that way so he can't be held accountable later.
The sort to say something like,
"I left it all to you! I trusted you to do this right-"
Or in this case you should have known. Nothing can ever really be his fault if he never commits to it himself.
Star: He kind of gives Muu vibes. At least in terms of how he seems to give leniency with the expectation that it will be returned to him. Idk if that makes sense though. Also it's interesting to note that whoever is writing these profiles up is unsure of Keisuke's gender- implying they are going off of an impression rather than any concrete data. This also implies it is J who is collating this information.
Thoughts on Voice Drama and Song
Gunsli: Oh, finally, someone who seems to actually have committed murder. Even then, it's kind of up in the air. Seems my first impression was right. He's someone who kind of just hocks things he could very well do himself on other people without putting much regard into the scope of what he's asking for.
If no one is speaking up about an incident then there's not much an authority figure can do about it. They're not all powerful and omnipotent. They can't punish students for things. They haven't witnessed themselves or based on hearsay from other students who weren't involved with the incident and refuse to get directly involved. This teachers hands are literally tied. So, unless he's doing something completely irresponsible like having the person doing the bullying look into it because maybe they don't know it's them doing it I don't see how the teacher is to blame.
Saying I thought you'd do something about this is as good as the teacher telling him,
"Hey if you really care about your friend I'd think you'd do something about it."
However, the teacher has to be a professional and just say,
"None of the students are discussing things with me honestly. So, until they do there's very little I can personally do about the situation."
Which frankly is something this guy could have done himself. Since he's witnessed these altercations he should know the names of the parties involved by this point. So why didn't he do anything else before escalating the issue to further violence. There are so many things one can do before attacking someone else.
Plus it's not like what he did was self-defense. It just seems like he decided to attack someone to the point of killing them simply to stick to his word. It's like okay you kept your promises. That's not always a noble thing and there were probably other ways for him to keep that promise without harming another person. Now this is under the speculation that he did kill someone and not just harm them because that is the implication. However, I need to make it abundantly clear I don't feel bad for him nor do I like his attitude.
He decided to mindlessly obey and rely on authority figures to solve issues for him and wound up being complacent in what was going on within his school. Honestly, he's more responsible than his teacher. The teacher at least did what they said they would. This dude can't get mad because he knows the teacher is telling the truth.
Because he's accepted that his friend is lying and dragging out the situation longer than it needs to be. Tgis exchange implies he's accepted that this is his friends decision so who's really being shady and to blame,
He glances up after a couple of pages and spots someone walking over to him. “Hey!” The person immediately looks up before frowning. “Hey, Keisuke.” “You wanna talk? I saw what was happening earlier and–” Keisuke hops off the brick wall and walks over to the person. I'll trust you just for a little longer "I'm sorry." "Huh?" “I don’t want to talk about it. I know what you saw and I know you wanted me to talk about it, but–” “Look, I get it.” Keisuke sighs. “Don’t worry, okay?” “Got it.”
Also it's not like at any point he intervened either despite having opportunities too,
Keisuke begins to move away as the pitch darkness turns into the hallway of the school again.  He glances over at the classroom door and stares at something. Someone inside notices him.  "Hey, is your friend coming to save you?" Someone sneers. "W-wait, leave him out of this–" The person at the desk cries out. "Only if you do everything we say for the next day." "Fine.".
So, he just comes off as complacent.
He's just over here like,
"T3
"Teacher why aren't you doing anything?! You're supposed to be better than me because authorities are meant to protect people. Not other people there's nothing- I a person with no authority can do. So, I'm wiping my hands of any part in this. Plus, if I do a bad thing, it's not bad because I'm just keeping a promise. A promise you should have kept as an educational professional."
Likw okay brat. He really could have helped but,
"He's a kid, he's just a high schooler!"
I'm sorry I was in very anti-bullying schools, not because of the teachers but the students. Change starts with you sometimes. It just simply does. I got bullied because people told other people I was bullying them at points. Can you imagine someone coming up to you and bullying you like we don't tolerate your kind here- Bullies! And now you're just kind of here like getting bullied but also like wait a fucking second I'm not a bully- I'd bully me too if I thought that!
He could've thrown hands.
Other students didn't want to speak about the conflict get personally involved in the conflict then speak about it yourself. Fuck it, we can all go down together. Make it egregiously loud, get your parents involved be a problem that can't be ignored. Do it in the classroom if necessary. What the fuck is the teacher going to do to stop you? They can't even stop the other bullying. Be a disturbance. Make this teachers day hell until something is done.
This isn't the teacher's fault but this would give them something to work with and look into at least. Like if you give the teacher something to work with they're going to work with it. It's certainly more reasonable than murder!
Then being out here like,
"Oh teacher you aren't paying attention to this issue because every party involved is telling you there is no issue and that I'm a lying piece of shit. Something I know my friend is complicit in. Well I guess i just have to respect their choice."
This guy just seems like he doesn't want to get his hands dirty or in trouble unless he can get something out of it. Like in a I'll keep my word so you keep yours way. So, I don't feel bad for him or his circumstances because that's an asshole way to be.
Star: He seems like he's just trying to help for self satisfaction. And even then, only doing things that can be done passively. Granted, I might be biased because I already wasn't fond of this guy. Also, as Gunsli pointed out, he could have done more instead of relying on others.
004: Tomoko Shiratori
Gunsli: She seems nosey.
Star: I don't have much of a opinion on her.
Gunsli: Fair, not sure if this is right but-
This seems to be her glitched voiceline,
"How. How unaffected."
Thoughts on Voice Drama and Song
Gunsli: You know when you give people dirt on others it gets on you too. If she was so concerned about what her clients would do with the information she gave them then she should have been more careful. Saying I was just telling them the facts after can only get her so far. If she feels guilty about it then maybe don't work in trading and discovering other people's secrets.
She chose this occupation I don't feel bad for her.
This kind of just comes with the territory. So if it's just a case of her telling a wife her husband is cheating on her and that wife killing said husband. Yeah, it's not her problem and it's not murder. So, I don't care.
I just really don't care for indirect murders they bore me. It's like you could hail a taxi for someone or get them an uber thrn their driver could be a murderer. The driver could just decide that's what they want to do today. Does that suddenly make you responsible for how that person chooses to live their lives?
No.
Chances are she would have just hired another private investigator if Tomoko didn't do it. So I just don't care. This is a risk that can occur in her line of work if she doesn't like the risks and direct consequences of the profession she choose to go into get a different job.
That or actually do due diligence. If she believes a client of hers may wind up attacking the person they hired her to look into over the information you give them then just don't give them that information or alert the proper authorities of that risk. She didn't have to take such a sketchy job.
Again this is why i don't think of Milgram proper through an indirect lens it simply isn't murder. If someone didn't have the intent to kill another person and their actions didn't directly cause that persons death- I mean directly not in a domino effect or a butterfly flapped it's wings and a tornado formed way then that's not murder. That person is just living their normal life. The only participation awards for murder are accessories and abettors. Both of which are still more actively involved than this.
Star: Whether it counts as murder or not, she did not do due diligence. Furthermore, if she was really as suspicious of the job she was doing (as implied) she could have refused it, or put in any safeguarding measures.
005: Shun Minami
Gunsli: Not that concerned about her despite the warning. J is writing these and he's like three not the best judge of character a three year old rabbit or person. It's just like they seem to be hiding something I think you should vote everyone innocent they don't seem like they could do anything wrong. Alright buddy pick a lane.
Star: She kinda reminds me of that one Vocaloid song Super Hero
Ummm...I think it's this,
"Yes, it’s been done. Good we even now."
Thoughts on Voice Drama and Song
Gunsli: I didn't vote on them or any of the characters before Daiki- who I just voted guilty for no reason. But it's not his turn yet I thought it was but no this is someone else. Ahn they killed someone and it was for money but uh you're the jobs you choose. She doesn't particularly say they have to do this. I guess they could be lying because it starts on a stage with gun imagery but ends with her using a knife but uh that's none of my business really.
Again this just seems like one of those cases where enough isn't really known. So, I guess they deserved that 50/50.
Star: ... huh. Was she asked to kill the guy in the previous case?
Gunsli: Well there was a knife stabbing at the end of that so maybe. Damn the private investigators negligence really had a domino effect huh?
There's a quiet laugh and a stabbing noise.
Huh being shit at your job just does that I guess. Maybe next time investigate your clients. Because she didn't even know if that person was actually the others wife or not. So she could have just been hired to stalk someone for somebody else.
Star: It does seem like they dithered on whether they should kill him or not. Though I am curious what they'd need the money for.
Gunsli: I mean not to sound unsympathetic but a crime is crime regardless of one's personal motivations. No one really thinks about crimes objectively just in terms of what they find relatable or morally just themselves. It's kind of why so many cases of similar caliber have such varying verdicts. Put a criminal on a stand that a jury can't project upon and the more likely they are to actually wind up Guilty.
Even Es is only being nice to Shun because they were nice to him. That's the only reason he thinks they couldn't have done that. That's just how fickle the judgments of people are.
Star: Definitely, yeah. Though, to be fair, I'm just curious about it because this seems like a lot of effort to go through to get money. But that contrasts with the seeming delay of the killing.
Gunsli: I mean she went through a lot of effort to not get a real job and instead make money off of ending the lives of others. Furthermore she said she's only killed one person but in the song extraction the person says they took longer on this job implying they've done more.
So she just seems dishonest.
"Hey, you spent a long time getting this contract complete. Why?" The man asks, placing his head on his hand, his smirk still on his face.
I mean I'm curious about why she would need the money as well. But- again everyone here choose the ways they wanted to make money and live their lives for better or worse.
I just can't bring myself to feel that bad for them.
Star: Yeah, I agree with that. Which is why I'm just curious, not particularly sympathetic.
Gunsli: Ah, fair I thought I was being a bit too harsh on them but this is one of those not my business scenarios. So, I'm glad I didn't vote on it. Like I don't particularly feel like it's really good or really bad.
The situation is just there.
Star: Yeah. It's not really something to judge, especially at this point. Like they were hired. If she didn't do it, someone else would have. Which may be cynical, but it is what it is.
Gunsli: Hey it's just business at that point, baby. Either you're getting that bag or someone else is. So, I feel you there Star. His death certificate was pretty much signed and sealed the last thing it needed to be was delivered.
The saying is don't shot the messenger not the messenger can't shot you bang, bang.
006: Daiki Kawaguchi
Gunsli: Oh hey a dude to bully. I voted this guy guilty I had no reason to. I just heard everyone was innocent so far and that's pretty boring. It doesn't really matter he seems to be innocent anyway.
Star: He seems pretty defensive. Partially because he mentions that he's an office worker then immediately backpedals-
"I work in an office, but I really don't know if you care too much about that."
-and because he literally tells the listener to not say he's in the wrong.
Now onto the glitched voice line,
"I need to get her/him back, damn it!"
List of unnecessary/unlikely variations~
I need to get her/him back, fuck it! I need to get her/him back, need it! I need to get her/him back, kill it! I need to get her/him back, mash it! I need to get her/him back, cook it! I need to get her/him back, burn it! I need to get her/him back, tear it! I need to get her/him back, slap it! I need to get her/him back, hurt it! I need to get her/him back, roll it! I need to get her/him back, boop it! I need to get her/him back, will it! I need to get her/him back, wish it! I need to get her/him back, free it! I need to get her/him back, read it! I need to get her/him back, turn it! I need to get her/him back, tell it!
Gunsli: And that’s what Daiki did that day in exactly that order. It was fucked up what he did and those people will never be the same. The witnesses will need a lifetime of therapy. There’s nothing that can make them unsee what they just saw.
This man should not be allowed to cook.
Star: We think it's the first one, but we ended up doing all the rest of them because of the lack of known letters on that word.
Thoughts on Voice Drama and Song
Gunsli: I voted this person Guilty his thing hasn't ended yet I think. Which is probably good because I was just being a bitch if I'm being honest. I didn't even know who he was or what he did yet. I was just doing it for chaos reasons. But ya know I'll argue anything so let me just hope they suck real quick.
Damn I'm glad he sucks.
He is his own worst advocate. Like got damn I picked a good person to vote guilty. Oh cool fuck cops. Good enough reason I didn't need more but like I said with Kazui ACAB is a state of mind. It overwrites everything fuck this guy. I mean maybe he isn't a cop. He stole information from the police station and dishonorable discharge can be related to the military.
So maybe it's that but like he still sucks.
Like I know his sister is missing and maybe one of the kids here killed her can't say who. But ya know throw a dart a board I'd wager maybe Mia because people keep highlighting she's harmless and Izumi seems to have killed a guy.
Plus this dude keeps highlighting there are kids here and that may be because they're around his sisters age.
Or maybe Es is right and he did kill his sister and just doesn't remember doing it.
Star: Yeah, definitely defensive. Also, would be fucked up if Tomoko was the person who got the extra info he found-he feels very sketch though, even if we know he's trying to find someone.
007: Isamu Takao
Gunsli: On principle I distrust people who are super adamant about not meaning to be somewhere. Because if you really weren't meant to be here you wouldn't be.
This isn't like real life where false imprisonments happen. Maybe that is something that can happen in Mugram but that would be a structural issue at that point. Especial if they really did nothing.
But it seems like he did something to me.
Star: He's... interesting. They feel a bit suspicious, but that might be because his mannerisms feel reminiscent of how Mikoto tends to try and blow off stuff to avoid any potential wrong he's done.
Glitched line seems to be this,
"Ah-No, no, this wasn’t supposed to happen-" or "It– No, no, this wasn’t supposed to happen–"
Gunsli: Not the words of the most uninvolved party in the world.
008: Mia Fukuda
Gunsli: You ever not trust someone solely based on how they carry themselves and the color they're wearing. This is one of those cases.
I haven't read a thing yet and I just don't like her. That probably says something about me. Like I don't like the nervous quiet character trope. Which I don't. That's one of the reasons I'm still not that fond of Haruka.
So, the characterization is characterizing I just hate this personality type.
I literally typed this before reading her description saying she's nervous. So again the characterization is characterizing. Damn life is testing me she's a Pisces...
Unfortunate we share a sign...
Star: I don't really know what to think of her. So I'll just wait till I see more of how they interact with people in general before coming to a full decision.
This is her glitched voice line,
"I’m sorry."
Gunsli: Ahn... this is going to be one of those situations where I have to abstain simply because I just don't like her.
Those come up from time to time. Maybe I'll change my mind when I find out more about her but for now... Mmm nah.
No, I think I'm good.
009: Ryuu Seki
Gunsli: Bitch that's not how patient-doctor confidentiality works. You are in jail the existence of that does not stop your from being interrogated if a crime has taken place in which your or your patients are incriminated.
What type of bullshit? He just came here and lied. Well we at least know you killed a patient now.
Like the fact that he said this is more incriminating. We could have assumed it didn't even involve his job. But, he just made it abundantly clear it does in one statement.
So at this point he was either assisting his patients with suicide which in some places is against the law or killing his patience then claiming it was assisted suicide. However since he brings up patient-doctor confidentiality there's an implied sense of agreement or discussion between patient and doctor.
He could just be a liar though.
I don't trust him much at all since he started off on an untrustworthy note by lying about how patient-doctor confidentiality works.
Star: I don't trust him as far as I could throw him. And I greatly dislike him to boot. His whole quote about being a doctor and how that makes it easier to make hard decisions is. Incredibly suspicious. Not to mention an egregious leap of logic to begin with. It ends up coming off as though he's saying all this to gain a position of power/authority. Also, as Gunsli brought up, that isn't really how doctor-patient confidentiality works. It's also a common misconception that it is that people don't really look into. All of that makes it feel like he's lying about being a doctor in general.
010: Sora Mochizuki
Gunsli: Seems like an average engineer. From what she said she may be pretty well known outside of Mugram.
At least this comment implies that,
"Oh, funny thing. I didn’t know no one knew who I was."
Star: Can't really think of anything to say about her. She doesn't say anything noteworthy.
"It... It’s good." or "Ah...It's good."

"Whatever Happens, Keep Moving, Get through it, Choose to live."
That's The Moral of The Series "13 Reasons Why". 💆🏻‍♂️➡️💎🧬
In The SEASON 1,
The first season breaks my heart, soul, mind, and everything. I've been going through Hannah Baker's story of what she's going through, which means mental issues, depression, and suicidal thoughts. And I can't forget her pain for the rest of my life. Hannah Baker is a really good person with a good heart, soul, and mind. She needs friends who understand her and support her, but some people took advantage of her. They bully her for her things, which are very bad. But still, she's good with everyone. But there is a limit to everything. Hannah Baker decided that she'd die by herself, and before she killed herself, she recorded 13 tapes about 13 reasons why she wanted to kill herself, and at the end, she was killed by herself. And before killing herself, she gave those tapes to a trusted guy. Then the tapes were listened to by everyone, who regretted all of this. But, you know, time is the most valuable thing. So yeah, she taught me a lot of things.
Hannah Baker once said,
“Dream big, they say. Shoot for the stars. Then they lock us away for 12 years and tell us where to sit, when to pee, and what to think. […] Then we turn 18 and even though we’ve never had an original thought, we have to make the most important decision of our lives. […] And if you don’t have the money and don’t really have the grades, a lot of the decision gets made for you.”
“It must be possible to swim in the ocean of the one you love without drowning. It must be possible to swim without becoming water yourself. I keep finding stones tied to my feet.”
“Life is unpredictable and control is just an illusion. And it makes us feel small and powerless.”
“You've heard of the butterfly effect, right? That if a butterfly flaps its wings at just the right time in just the right place. It can cause a hurricane thousands of miles away. It's chaos theory, but see, chaos theory isn't exactly about chaos. It's about how a tiny change in a big system can affect everything.”
“You're going to tell me this one's no big deal, but let me tell you about being lonely. Humans are a social species. We rely on connections to survive. Even the most basic social interactions help keep us alive. Statistics prove the subjective feeling of loneliness can increase the likelihood of premature death by 26%. If it sounds like I'm quoting from a school textbook, I am. Too bad nobody bothered to read it. And let me tell you. There's all kinds of ways to feel lonely.”
“The way I see it, there are two different kinds of death. If you're lucky, you live a long life and one day your body stops working and it's over. But if you're not lucky, you die a little bit until you realize it's too late. I know some of you might think there was more I could have done or should have done. But I'd lost control and in that moment, it felt like it felt like I was already dead.”
In The SEASON 2,
The second season is all about justice for Hannah Baker. There are very bad people around us, but we can't actually recognize them at first, or maybe at last. And if we recognize that they're bad, still, we love those people and love to talk to or bond with them, and this is what Hannah Baker did. She's always good with all the people around her, but some of them are taking advantage of her. And those people who are really strong, but at the end, truth always wins.
Hannah Baker once said,″You don’t know what goes on in anyone’s life but your own. And when you mess with one part of a person’s life, you’re not messing with just that part. Unfortunately, you can’t be that precise and selective. When you mess with one part of a person’s life, you’re messing with their entire life. Everything...affects everything.”
In The SEASON 3,
The third season is all about Bryce Walker, who r*ped many girls, including Hannah Baker and Jessica Davis. He also wants to change his life, but the world won't let that happen, so he died because of him and some other people. But here's the thing: some people want to change, but you know the world doesn't let that happen. And this is the main theme and moral of the series. We know many people have done terrible things, but sometimes you can forgive those people for a better world.
Bryce Walker said, "Hey Jess, it's me. Yeah, I know, a tape. Yes, I did it on purpose. Not to be a d*ck but because the day I listened to those tapes, my life changed. And I bet the same is true for you. And for Justin and Zach and everyone. And I wanted to give you this. I thought you'd hear me better if I wasn't standing in front of you. You said I had no idea what I'd done to you. You were right. I can't stop thinking about you. Replaying that night in my mind.I r*ped you. I heard you say no, and I did it anyway. Because I wanted to and I didn't care how you felt. Justin tried to stop me. I wish I could tell you that there was a tiny voice in my head telling me that what I was doing to you was wrong. There wasn't. I never had one of those before. That's not an excuse. It just is. I r*ped Hannah Baker. I raped 7 or 8 other girls–some of them were my girlfriends at the time. I won't name them but if they choose to tell you...believe them. I'm broken. I know that. I'm a person in a thousand pieces. But I'm seeing a counsellor. It's a long, hard process but little by little you start picking up the pieces. And you realise what you're making is a mirror. And the more pieces you put together the more you see yourself. I'd like to say that I'm not the same person who r*ped you anymore...Jess. But what I've come to realise is that I'll always be him. But I'm trying to be better. To be someone worth something in this world. I have this dream that I could be someone who protects people, somehow. Protects them from people like me. Like, who I was. I don't know. I am so...fucking sorry for what I did to you. And I know words add up to nothing compared to what I took from you. Someone once told me that it will take me a lifetime to learn what sorry is. They're right. But I'm starting. If you've listened this far...thank you. It's more than I deserve. I wouldn't blame you if you smashed this tape to fucking pieces. I would. I wish you the best, Jess. Truly. Goodbye."
In The SEASON 4,
The fourth season is all about moving forward, whatever happens. It's about starting like you were born again to live your life peacefully. You may have more anxiety or depression because of some of the of the worst days, but you need to understand that life is a journey; happiness will help you to live peacefully, and pain will help you to live with the living and teach you how to get through all of these worst things.
At the last finale episode; Clay Jensen said, " In the past two years, three people who I loved have died. And two... two other people...[sniffling] ...who I thought I hated, also died. But I learned that hate is too simple.Jessica's right.Hate is easy.Love and understanding are harder. But they are how we take care of each other, how we survive.[sniffs]My dad loves to tell me stories about when he was in high school. The stories usually involve chess club and obscure bands with funny haircuts, because the '80s were a strange, strange time.[laughter]But he always gets one thing right. He knows high school can hurt. That it can be painful. That there are days when that's all it is.And he once told me that he's living proof...you can survive. You can get through it.He's living proof, and so am I.And so are all of you.And the thing is,for me,for us,this class, this... this generation, high school actually is life or death. We show up every day not knowing if this is the day we die.If this is the day someone shows up with a gun and tries to kill us all.We practice what we'll do if that happens.Life or death.I suffer from anxiety...and, uh, depression. But mostly anxiety.I sometimes think all of us kids do,in some way.And how could we not, with the world the way it is?We hear a lot of promises that things will get better.And... and, look, maybe they will, maybe they won't.And what I think I've learned, what I wanna say to you...is whatever happens, keep moving.Get through it.Choose to live.'Cause even on the worst day, there...are people who love you. There's new music waiting for you to hear,some... something you haven't seen before that will blow your mind in the best way.Even on the worst day, life is a pretty spectacular thing.Thank you.Good luck."
At the end, I say, "Choose to live; don't choose happiness or sadness. It's only part of life. You'll survive; you'll get through this because we're humans and we can understand these things. Move forward and do what you love, and if there are not any things that make you happy or sad, then find out and find out who you're actually."
I'm definitely able to say that this is the best series and all the favorite series of my whole life, seriously.

Elizabeth X is a horrific human being
Here is a list of things shes done:
Trapped a star whale that was offering itself..... because shes dense as fuck. Thats the only way she could have not figured out that it was offering itself
Decides that opening up the cranium to expose the brain and then shoot a laser at it for 300 years was a good idea
Creates a dictatorship with her as the "highest authority"
Creates a surveillance state
Creates robots (smilers) that her citizens are afraid of in order to keep them in line
Creates half human half smiler secret police
Holds pretend elections where there is only one correct option and then pretends that its the will of the people to keep the voyage going
Kills all political dissidents, the "protestors"
Kills, and I am quoting directly from the episode, "citizens of limited value" ... which includes children since children cannot be protestors
Sets up a system where SHE does not have to live with the fact that SHE did all this. She literally built into the system the ability to keep her conscience clean while simultaneously being the disgusting dictator in charge of it all.
Masquerades (quite literally, the mask and cloak) as a brave queen investigating her government because they are plotting behind her back and "feeding my citizens" to the beast.
Forced some people to NOT forget what is happening. Like Hawthorn who knows exactly whats going on. They have to live with the guilt while she doesn't.
Apparently made herself near immortal considering shes 300 and looks 30
Lets take this point by point
1 and 2 have no precedent since well no star whales IRL but I can't imagine her being anything but fucking stupid for not figuring it out.
3 The British Royal Family has no genuine power, so either between the 21st century and Elizabeth X they manage to regain power OR Elizabeth X took back power during the horrendous chaos they were trying to escape from. There is no prime minister or parliament or court system. She rules solo. She even says "I rule" and "I am the highest authority"
4 Every part of the ship is being watched, its why the Doctor was seen by Hawthorn doing the water check and why they knew that Amy was doing Bad Things™. Its also why all the adults were ignoring a little girl crying, they know they are being watched. Its got some East Germany Stasi level surveillance vibes.
5 & 6 Secret police are horrific organizations that have committed some of the worst acts in history. Gestapo a vital tool of Hitler or the NKVD responsible for Stalin's Great Purge etc the writers were also probably taking a page out of 1984's thought police & surveillance. Which 1984 itself is based on criticism of Stalinism
7 Every dictatior's favorite public tool! Elections where the outcome is 97+% in the dictator's favor. There should be no fucking elections it's ridiculous. Its not like the citizens even know what they voted for so why pretend to have elections. My only guess is because the beast needs food.
8 ..... bitch really decided "oh, you disagree with the decisions I've made?... well down a tube you go to your death immediately"
9 Say it with me people: E U G E N I C S. That is what that sentence is. As a permanently disabled person living on disability benefits and public insurance, ya know a "burden to society", this single line gave me a sick stomach. What the fuck. How can anyone like this fucked up character???? Remember SHE decided on these rules. SHE MADE THEM. Which also means SHE set the perimeters for "limited value." Limited value includes a child who got bad grades, is punished by the government (not his parents) for bad grades, the punishment is not being able to use the elevator. When he does use the elevator he is killed. So I'm going to go out on a limb and say people who use wheelchairs are definitely just outright killed. Which again remember the Queen decided who counts as limited value. Also if the whale won't eat children, do all the children that are sentenced to death and then work in the dungeon end up getting eaten when they turn 18? How fucking horrific to work in dungeon for years knowing you are literally on death row.
10 & 11 This has got to he THE WORST fucking thing. The character acts so goddamn righteous in her outraged, pissed that her citizens are being hurt, determined to uncover her evil government. When its all her. She gets to be a badass good queen for 10 years, figure out the mystery and how gross she is, erase her memory, and go back to being the badass masquerading righteous queen. She literally made it so she can live with an actual clear conscience. Not knowing any of this is all her fault and being outraged that it all exists. Also the video to herself doesn't mention anything but 1 & 2 by the way. She doesn't tell herself that she created a disgusting surveillance secret police regime run on crushing political dissidents and perpetuating eugenics in the video. She only mentions how bad conditions on Earth were and therefore they were assholes to a star whale, no mention of how shes evil to her own citizens. Hawthorn tells her that all of it is her but SHE doesn't in her own video to herself. She CAN remember, there is no reason she HAS TO forget. Maybe the public does, to live a semi peaceful life not feeling crushing guilt every moment. But the Queen? If anything she has a duty to know. A duty to carry the burden of knowing what she did to the star whale. And a duty to carry the guilt of knowing what she does to her people.
12 She SHOULD feel guilty every moment of every day, since it seems that "forgetting" is how they all manage to live with themselves. So if this whole system is set up to take the burden of guilt away from her citizens then she should be forced to live with it on their behalf but INSTEAD she forces Hawthorn and the secret police to know the truth. If they can know the truth so can she and she just chooses not to.
13 This surveillance police state built on crushing political dissent and rampant eugenics is 300 years old run by a single dictator. 300 years of this dictatorship and Elizabeth X has made herself believe its been only 10 years so that she doesn't have to feel guilty. She consented to having her body clock stopped/slowed by the way, so she knew she'd be a dictator for a very long time.
AND YET we, the audience, are supposed to like her. Shes portrayed as righteous to start—shooting down smilers and chasing after the Doctor to help her figure out her evil government. Then shes horrified at her own deeds with very good acting showing a horrified expression. Then the video we are shown is suppose to make us sympathize with her decision showing that if she abdicated everyone will die so OF COURSE she did all these horrible things. Then after Amy gives the Doctor the mask she says "Her majesty says no more secrets on starship UK" implying that this fucking disgusting dictator should be left in power after the absolute fucking hell and murder she sanctioned for 300 years against her own citizens. And I know we are supposed to like her because her supposed badassness returns in The Pandorica Opens with "This is the royal collection and I'm the bloody queen" while pointing a gun at River.
We are supposed to like a disgusting dictator because.... ??? Guess the idea of the monarchy lasting that long was supposed to be cool or whatever.
Elizabeth X is a disgusting oppressive eugenicist dictator
that should have been thrown off the ship. Or fed to the beast. Whichever the people she wronged choose.
Also how is the beast fed now? If no more secrets then no more elections, no more forget buttons, and thus no more protestors. But "citizens of limited value" (again I cannot believe that is an actual fucking quote) still exist. Do they become the sole diet? Do they figure out what star whales naturally eat?

"Catching Fire", Chapter 12
Part 2: The Quell
Chapter 12: (I accidentally scheduled 11 and 10 out of order yesterday so I went ahead and put them both up) The Preps appear to get Katniss ready for her wedding dress photo shoot. By asking about shortages in the Capitol, Katniss figures out that there have been Uprisings in 3, 4 and 8. Later she talks to Haymitch about Uprisings and such. Prim is excited to see Katniss's dresses on a mandatory viewing but something else is going on. It's the "reading of the card". Katniss and Prim, who have not been alive for a Quarter Quell, don't know what that means. It turns out Snow has been planning an All-Stars Season of the Hunger Games.
Thoughts:
-- Venia is clearly the leader of the Preps.
-- It's interesting how little importance Katniss and Peeta seem to be to Katniss and Peeta's wedding in the Capitol. They don't get a say in what they wear. The Capitol does. Cinna and Caesar Flickerman talk about it. I can't imagine letting the internet pick my wedding dress. (I am not married and don't plan to be and still I don't think this is a good idea.)
Quotes:
My mind starts buzzing. No seafood. For weeks. From District 4. The barely concealed rage in the crowd during the Victory Tour. And suddenly I am absolutely sure that District 4 has revolted.
I'm very interested in District 4. Mostly because I heart Mags. But also, I think it must be harder to keep them from communicating with other Districts, since they have boats. TBOSAS mentioned Pup Harrington's dad patrolling District 4. I assume that's to keep them in, like the fence in 12 does. But the existence of a patrol means people have gotten out.
Also I like swimming.
Prim, who came home from school in time to see the last two dresses, chatters on about them with my mother
Oh last chapter she asked Katniss to wait to try them on. I'm sad now that she only got to see two of the six.
He didn't get too excited over my District 13 story.
Did Haymitch already know about 13?
President Snow begins to speak, to remind us all of the Dark Days from which the Hunger Games were born. When the laws for the Games were laid out, they dictated that every twenty-five years the anniversary would be marked by a Quarter Quell. It would call for a glorified version of the Games to make fresh the memory of those killed by the districts' rebellion.
[...]
On the twenty-fifth anniversary, as a reminder to the rebels that their children were dying because of their choice to initiate violence, every district was made to hold an election and vote on the the tributes who would represent it.
I would like to know why this Quell system was implemented. We know Dean Highbottom didn't want the Games to continue at all. He definitely didn't write "centuries" of cards. The voting thing makes me think there was some political motivation, like how Plutarch Heavensbee wants a democracy instituted.
I wonder if Snow made himself look like a "genius" as a Gamemaker and then became President. And some people were like, "I didn't vote for this guy." So Snow was like, "fine, let the plebs vote."
"I had a friend who went that year," says my mother, quietly. "Maysilee Donner. Her parents owned the sweetshop. They gave me her songbird after. A canary.
Prim and I exchange a look. It's the first we've ever heard of Maysilee Donner. Maybe because my mother knew we would want to know how she died.
Lucy Gray is a songbird. Maysilee Donner has a songbird. Katniss is the mockingjay. How many female tributes from 12 are linked to birds?

Star Wars (1977) #02: Six Against the Galaxy
Roy Thomas, May 10 1977
Tumblr media
What's not to love about this cover? Obi-Wan's red (pink?) "lightsabre". Luke straight up shooting a guy. The colors. The poses. The creatures. The mug (do seedy bars serve drinks in mugs??). And of course, "LUKE SKYWALKER STRIKES BACK!"
Also lol at wookieepedia throwing shade
Tumblr media
The second page graces us with a majestic unconscious Luke, who even looks like a teen for once:
Tumblr media
The scene in Ben's home - rather uncharitably referred to as a hovel by the narration - plays out in a different order of events from the final film - first Leia's message, then a discussion of Ben's past. I'm actually not sure why they ended up switching them - Artoo's message seems like the obvious place to start a conversation and Leia's mention of Ben's clone wars history is a good segue into the rest of the revelations.
Tumblr media
The contents of the message are also somewhat different from the movie, and omit or change quite a bit from the fourth draft of the screenplay as well:
Tumblr media
So in this version, Bail's name is still Antillies (not even Antilles) and Ben served the Old Republic, not him specifically as she says in the film. In the script the Rebellion is also explicitly referred to as the Alliance to restore the Republic (unlike the films, which use the terms Rebel Alliance and Rebellion). I don't really know what to make of Ben being called both a general and commander in the same context but whatever. Interesting that the iconic line "you're my only hope" is a later change - still, there is some inconsistency with the first issue:
Tumblr media
I find it kinda funny how "the Force" is always in quotation marks. No version of the screenplay I've seen does this so I'll just assume it's all Mr. Thomas.
Tumblr media
The discovery of the destroyed sandcrawler plays out like in the film. Afterwards we get Luke shouting for Aunt Beru and Uncle Ben:
Tumblr media
Roy Thomas did write Spider-Man comics and it's cute so I'll forgive it. Let's say that Luke is in a lot of distress and just received lots of weird information about his heritage and maybe his comic version sees Ben as more of an uncle figure than Owen at this point idk
I'll also highlight this panel just because Luke's pretty in it:
Tumblr media
In the cantina we finally get the fight promised by the cover. The alien who seems to have a problem with Luke (I don't want to call the character Ponda Baba as he lacks both the soulfull eyes and mandibles) says his line from the script (which is apparently still an actual quote as seen in the novelization, though I don't see how it relates to what is said/growled in the movie. Maybe Aqualish or whatever language is spoken here just has a unique transcribing system I guess). The rest of his lines seem to originate in this comic though. I also enjoy the "we have the death sentence on 12 systems", which differs from both the fourth draft and final film. They're besties ❤.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah Ben just bisected those two. Alright.
Next, Chewbacca makes his appearance! I'm not sure why the narration feels the need to insult his looks though.
Tumblr media
The bartender seems to be less enthusiastic about his snitching than in the film or script. The line interesting me here is the one about Han obviously not having a lightsaber - why is that obvious? Sure he's a loser but that's just mean. And why couldn't Chewie be the one slicing people up.
Tumblr media
This might be a longshot but I've been fascinated by the third draft and the idea that "laser-swords" are much more common. Maybe this scene is a holdover from that?
Tumblr media
Next we get the Greedo scene. His death is beautiful (the colors? the shading? the exploding lines? the pose?) and the fact that Han has his blaster in full view seems to imply he's just an insanely quick draw. 10/10 no notes.
Tumblr media
Han's next scene is not quite as cool - in fact, it's the horrible deleted Jabba scene that never should have existed. I'll take it though, just for the awful early Jabba design.
Tumblr media
I mean just looks at this yellow otter-walrus thing with terrible fashion sense. I'm pretty sure it's physically impossible to feel threatened by him.
Tumblr media
I also greatly enjoy this interpretation of star destroyers. Why can't they fly like this in the films...
Tumblr media
The banter inside the ship is pretty much word for word movie dialogue. I do love this 3PO pose:
Tumblr media
And the final panel is honestly amazing!
Tumblr media
Though that ship definitely needs greebling.
Closing remarks: this issue is kind of light on weird He-Man Luke. His incredible expressions make up for it though.

🕷️ spider and ✏️ pencil for paradox, and 📣 megaphone and 🌠 shooting star for summer !
oc emoji asks
🕷️ SPIDER - what is their biggest fear? do they have any irrational / mundane fears?
paradox is a little unnerved by lizards. he doesn't really like how they lumber around and their very large jaws with sharp teeth are unsettling. not a huge fear but they are just kinda scary as for her biggest fear, everything they have done being useless, the stars, their attempt to better themselves physically and emotionally, that it'll eventually not matter to them. theres sort of a nagging "awareness" of sorts that one day they will die and rust away and nothing will be left, but i suppose its more losing hope within themselves
✏️ PENCIL - is there a particular quote / lyric that you associate with them?
"The system is fucked I'm alive by sheer luck But with God as my witness This night will not suck" from this night will not suck by penelope scott. not the rest of the song but just this lyric
-
📣 MEGAPHONE - how loud are they? what do they speak like? got a voice claim?
no voiceclaims because i don't know any actors really but summer is pretty loud and casual. very extroverted, loves talking to others
🌠 SHOOTING STAR - if they could make any wish with no repercussions, what wish would they make?
to be able to actually see and feel and talk to everyone he cares about, without worrying about fuel or being disconnected to his structure. basically give him the nsh goes for a walk mod

[ID: the first photo is a graphic calling to boycott the character Sabra (Ruth Bat-Seraph) from Marvel. There's two panels of the comic book character and the actress on it. Text reads: ‘Sabra is a Pro-Israel Propaganda character, her whole comic existance is based on protecting the enthostate of Israel. She is a Anti-Palestinian, Anti-Arab & Islamophobic character. Marvel Studios has ignored fans speaking out against Sabra and calling for Marvel to remove the character from the movie. Israeli actress Shira Haas is set to portray Sabra in Captain America: New World Order. She has shared Pro-Israel posts even during the Genocide of the Palestinians.’ Underneath the info is a section to contact Marvel. They follow:
Media Relations E-Mail: [email protected] Marvel Entertainment General Phone: #212-576-4000 https://www.facebook.com/Marvel/ https://www.instagram.com/marvel https://marvelentertainment.tumblr.com/ https://www.youtube.com/marvel Twitter/X: @marvel @marvelstudios @captainamerica @disney @disneystudios
The photos following in the original post is mostly comic book panels depicting how this character is used as propaganda. They are described under the cut of this post. The photos after the edit are three tweets from @MCUFilmNews, all from 2024. On February 28th it was announced the actress Shira Haas wasn't listed in the cast according to US Copyright Offices and that the film is set to have reshoots.
However, on April 11th, it was tweeted the actress remains in the role and her character has been changed to be a member of the U.S. government, according to Entertainment Weekly. The accompanying photo is a screenshot from the article that reads: ‘Ross isn't the only throwback to The Incredible Hulk. Not counting Shira Haas as Ruth, a member of the U.S. Government, Liv Tyler is back playing Ross' daughter, Betty, while Tim Blake Nelson reprises Samuel Sterns, a.k.a. the Leader, who was last seen being taken into S.H.I.E.L.D. custody after Banner's blood caused him to mutate in that 2008 movie. Mackie doesn't believe Marvel fans need to rewatch The Incredible Hulk to prepare for Brave New World.’ The third photo shows future McDonald's toys for the movie, which includes one for Ruth.
On July 10th @/cosmic_marvel tweeted: ‘Ruth/Sabra has reportedly not been cut from 'CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD'. She is said to be ”very much a lead in this.”’ @/hernandy_s quote tweeted: ‘Friendly reminder that the woman who plays her was exempt from joining the IDF and decided to enroll anyways. We're dealing with true evil here.’
The next photo is an excerpt from the Shira Haas' Wikipedia page, which reads: “She attended the Thelma Yellin High School of Arts in Givatayim, Israel, majoring in theatre, before completing a short period of volunteer service in the Israel Defense Forces' (IDF) performance theatre unit, despite being medically exempted from mandatory conscription.” END ID]
The comic panels follow:
The Incredible Hulk (1968) #256: The cover of the comic. It features the character Sabra—who is a woman with curly brown hair and who wears a white headband that has a Star of David in the center and white leotard that has two stripes of blue at the waist, her sleeve cuffs, and at her calves. On her chest is a large, blue Star of David and it connects her billowing cape to her costume. Her entire costume is meant to resemble the colors and design of the Israeli flag. In the cover, she's angrily flying at the Hulk while shooting out ‘energy quills’—which is meant to be the deadliest antipersonnel designed by the Israeli Secret Angent program. They're designed to paralyze the nervous system of any organism instantaneously. Hulk is crouched in rubble and is drawing a hand up to block the quills. He was kneeling in front of a small, malnourished Palestinian boy who was just murdered by a bomb. Text on the cover reads: “Power and peril in the promised land!”
Marvel Atlas (2008) #2: A page from the comic focusing on Israel. It shows the Israeli flag and location on the map above a long list of information. It follows:
OFFICIAL NAME: State of Israel (Medinat Yisra'el) POPULATION: 6,426,000 CAPITAL CITY: Jerusalem GOVERNMENT: Parliamentary democracy MAJOR LANGUAGES: Hebrew, Arabic, English MONETARY UNIT: New Israeli shekel MAJOR RESOURCES: Timber, potash, copper, clay, cement, chemicals, natural gas, nuclear energy, phosphates, agriculture, tobacco, construction, plastics, textiles, footwear, fiber optics, aviation technology, communications technology, computer technology, medical electronics.

The Silver Surfer (Norrin Radd) once passed through Israel's borders. Lilandra Neramani and other members of the Shi'ar came to Israel to assist the X-Men in halting Legion (David Haller). Uatu and other Watchers visited Israel at the same time to observe Legion's actions.
NONHUMAN POPULATION: None known. DOMESTIC SUPERHUMANS: The Arabian Knight (Navid Hashim) is a Palestinian who left Israel to enter the service of the Saudi Arabian government. Brightsword (Carter Dyam) is a former member of the Israel Defense Forces, and lost his father in the Six-Day War, he was selected to become one of the Young Gods, examples of the best of humanity, and was presented to the enigmatic Celestials, causing them to judge in favor of humanity's continued existence. Mutant hero Sabra is the country's premiere super hero and an agent of Mossad, motivated to combat terror after the tragic death of her son Jacob. Windstorm was another superhuman agent who gained her powers from Sabra, but became an anarchist and had to be defeated by Sabra. Messiah (David Kessler) possessed magical powers that he believed were angelic in nature, but upon learning he was powered by demons and working their will, he killed himself to stop them. Gretta Rabin is the young daughter of a member of legislature, and possesses powerful psychic abilities; she is possibly destined to enable the rise to power of a future dictator. Legion was the son of Charles Xavier, and like his father was a powerful mutant telepath; Legion absorbed the psyches of others into his mind, developing new powers for each of his multiple personalities.
PROMINENT CITIZENS: Mossad agent Rachel Goldberg participated in a mission to the USA to determine if Mendell Stromm was supplying robots to Palestinian terrorists. Benjamin Abramov was a government agent who alerted Moon Knight (Marc Spector) to the danger posed by Nimrod Strange's Slayers Elite, immediately before being assassinated by Strange's agent Master Sniper, Abramov was survived by his wife Anna. Jordana Altman, an agent of Mossad is another ally of Moon Knight. Wild Rose (Rose Kugel) is an elite Mossad agent who has fought terrorists worldwide, often as an ally of the Punisher (Frank Castle). Racha Meyer was a member of the Defense Forces who encountered the Living Mummy (N'Kantu). Hayyan Zarour was a prominent Palestinian leader who was briefly held hostage by Dr. Octopus (Otto Octavius) while touring the USA. Major Bathsheva Joseph was an agent of SHIELD and later Worldwatch, but died as the result of a time travel adventure with War Machine (James Rhodes). Max Meer was the son of US ambassadors based in Jerusalem, and was mistaken by Achilles for a prophesied future dictator; the true threat was Gretta Rabin. Daniel Shomron operated a psychiatric hospital near Haifa, and was tragically slain by terrorists. Gabrielle Haller was one of Shomron's patients, and became the mother of Legion, Charles Xavier's son; she later became an ambassador to the USA, advisor to the UN Security Council, and advocate for Magneto. SUPERHUMAN RESIDENTS: The mutants Magneto and Charles Xavier lived in Israel for a time prior to either one becoming rallying figures for mutantkind; they assisted Daniel Shomron in his therapy work. Magneto's clone Joseph stayed at Beersheba while questing to learn his true identity.
DOMESTIC CRIME: Have difficulties with drug trafficking. INTERNATIONAL CRIME: The terrorists of al-Qaeda and Hydra (including their agent Catalyst) and Nimrod Strange's Slayers Elite (Jou-Jouka, Kareesh-Bek, Sumaro) have been active in Israel; the Palestine Liberation Organization were formerly designated terrorists. The Hulk (Bruce Banner) fought with the military during a joumey through Tel Aviv; later, Achilles of the Pantheon attempted to murder Max Meer in Jerusalem, bringing the Hulk to Israel once again. The mutant criminals Avalanche (Dominikos Petrakis), Mystique (Raven Darkholme) and Sabretooth (Victor Creed) as well as the Neo-Nazi Baron von Blimp and Operation: Zero Tolerance's Prime Sentinels have been active in Israel.
HISTORY: In ancient times, the land of Israel was the promised land of the Jewish peoples. However, from 70–1948 the country was known as Palestine, and run in succession by Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Christian crusaders and Ottoman Turks. Jews began to immigrate to Palestine in 1882; immigrants increased in numbers during World War Il due to the massacres in Nazi– and USSR–occupied territories, and the state of Israel was finally established in 1948. Israel has been in conflict with virtually all of its neighbors at one time or another, although the United Nations (and USA in particular) have come to its aid. Israel made itself one of the premier nations in the hunt for Nazi war criminals, and continues to press searches for men such as Baron Wolfgang von Strucker. Strife between the Israeli and Palestinian groups has led to many violent military reprisals, terrorist bombings, local and international interventions.
Marvel Fandom Wiki: a screenshot of the page for Palestine. Text reads: “Palestine was the name of the land of Israel from 70 to 1948. In the Modern Age, Palestine is composed of two separate territories: Gaza: A thin strip of land, bordered at south-west by Egypt, at north-west by the Mediterranean Sea, and from north-east to south-east by Israel. The West Bank: A territory borded at south, west, and north by Israel, at east by Jordan. Palestine and Israel are in conflict, which led to many violent military and terrorist events, along with local and international interventions.”
The Incredible Hulk (1968) #256: A panel from the comic showing Sabra in her civilian life, which is as a cop. She quickly changes into her costume as her thought bubbles read: ‘The military are in no shape to go after The Hulk. That leaves me to stop the monster before he menaces the rest of Tel Aviv! Not as policewoman Ruth Ben-Sera, of course... But as Sabra, super heroine of the State of Israel!’ As she takes off flying, narration boxes reads: “Quilled cape streaming behind her, the female fury soars into the skies of Tel Aviv! She is determined to preserve her homeland from the ravages of The Hulk!” When she announced her name, there was an asterisk for an editor's note. It reads: “The word Sabra denotes a Native-Born Israeli, the name derived from an indigenous form of fruit—a prickly pear possessed of a sweet interior, and a spiny outer surface to protect it from it's enemies.”

A black and white photo from the Sabra and Shatila Massacre. In it, people look at corpses of the victims to try and find their relatives. The photo is focused on one woman looking down at a wrapped body, a hand to her mouth in a sob as other people behind her do the same. Linked article [here].
The Incredible Hulk (1968) #256: Multiple pages of the comic. In it, The Hulk has transformed back into Bruce Banner. He watches a young Palestinian boy as he thinks, ‘Where in heaven's name has The Hulk brought me to this time?! I remember him wanting to get out—away from The States—to someplace where he'd find peace! Somehow I don't think this is what my alter-ego had in mind!’ But his speculation is suddenly cut off as a merchant cries out, “Stop! Thief!”
A young Palestinian boy is running with a watermelon tucked under his arm. The narration boxes read: ‘The watermelon is almost as big as the hunger of the Arab youth who has filched it. Unfortunately, his frail limbs are unequal to the task of making off with his ill-gotten gains.” Bruce stares at the starving boy for a second, instantly recognizing himself in him, before hiding him in the shadows. He calls out, “That way! The kid ran that way!” and points in an opposite direct to the angry mob that was chasing him. With the child safe, they introduce themselves as they eat the watermelon together.
The boy says his name is Sahad before telling Bruce that he's strange for an American. When asked why, Sahad tells him, “Most Americans are rich! They carry cameras and big pocketbooks that small hands can reach into!” Bruce, slightly amused, asks if he's a pickpocket. Sahad responds, “Sometimes. It's very hard to be an Arab in Israel. Both my people and the Israelis say that this land is theirs. They could share it, but two very old books tell them they must kill each over it. Me, I don't read books. I look for work, and when there is no work at the big hotels running errands for the tourists, I pick their pockets—or beg.” He approaches a man with open hands and calls out, “Alms, sir! Alms for the poor! My old mother has not eaten all week, sir!” The man drops shekels in his small hands while grumbling, “Little begger!” Sahad tells him, “Yes, sir! Thank you, Sir!” Bruce questions if he's being honest about his starving mother and fifteen sisters, to which Sahad dismisses. He offers Bruce more to eat, leaving the man sitting where they were as he goes into a café.
While Sahad is walking away, Bruce thinks, ‘Sahad and I have some things in common... No families, no security. But that's where it stops. No one's hunting him. No one hates him. No one's trying to hurt him. The lucky kid doesn't have a care in the world...’ His thoughts are cut short when a large explosion happens in the room Sahad went into, causing Bruce to scream out for him. The bomb reduced the cafe to rubble as the terrorists point guns at survivors. One declares, “In the name of Arab Sovereignty over these lands, we deal retribution to those who would steal from us! Quickly, brothers! The Israeli military will soon arrive!” Another racist caricature yells out, “Slay any who yet live!” as off panel, Bruce transforms back into The Hulk due to seeing the corpse of Sahad.
Later in the comic, Sabra is attacking Hulk. She shoots her energy quills at him, causing him to stumble from feeling weak. However, at seeing Sahad again, he yells out, “Boy was Hulk's friend! Boy fed Hulk! Now boy is dead! Hulk came here to get away from death, but all Hulk has found is more fighting! Is whole world crazy?! Is there nowhere Hulk can go to find peace?!” He takes the small body of the murdered child and leaps away, police shooting at him. Sabra thinks, ‘The terrorists with whom the creature was in league have been arrested! They will pay for their crime! But if this monster—This Hulk—thinks that he can unleash his savage strength upon the soil of Israel, and then escape with impunity... He must be taught the error of his ways!’ She chases him into the western desert, towards Jordan, as she internally speculates: ‘Why has The Hulk brought the boy's body here—to this godforsaken stretch of desert? Am I wrong in crediting the creature with that much intelligence? He seems pure savagery! Perhaps there is no motive to his madness?’
Once she reaches him, she calls out, “Hulk, I will speak to you in English—hear me! You have wreaked destruction beyond imagination since your arrival in our land! At first I thought you acted mindlessly—but, since you are in league with those Arab assassins I now suspect your presence was a carefully-planned diversion, devised by the terrorists to draw our military away from the scene of their crime! I charge you with complicity in their act of barbarous terrorism—and with the murder of that boy!” This accusation enrages The Hulk. He turns around and screams at her, “Huh? You say Hulk killed boy?! Liar! Boy was Hulk's friend! Boy died because— because...? Yes! Hulk knows! Hulk remembers! Hulk will tell you! Boy died because boy's people and yours both want to own land! Boy died because you wouldn't share! Boy died because of two old books that say his people and yours must fight and kill for land! Now boy is dead—but boy didn't even read books! Hulk came looking for peace—but there is no peace here!” As he shouts, he begins to cry before leaping off to leave.
She stands there as the narration reads, ‘For an instant, Sabra prepares to give chase. She is, after all, an Israeli super-agent... a soldier,’ she moves to kneel by the murdered child as the narration continues, ‘But she is also a woman, capable of feeling, capable of caring. It has taken The Hulk to make her see this dead Arab boy as a human being. It has taken a monster to awaken her own sense of humanity.’
Marvel Super Hero Contest of Champions (1982) #1–3: a multi panel sequence of Iron Man, Sabra, and Arabian Knight in a ghost town. They're there to fight several opponents together due to a bigger, overarching story. In these panels, they introduce themselves. Sabra tells Iron Man, “And I'm Sabra, of Israel! Like the spiny pear that is the symbol of the Israeli people from which I deprive my name—I am harsh to my enemies... Yet sweet to my friends!” Arabian Knight responds, “Bah! Whatever her powers, the Arabian Knight will not fight alongside a Jewess!” Iron Man asks him, “Is it her nationality—or the fact that Sabra's a woman that's bothering you, Knight? How can we hope to gain the prize when we're fighting both the Arab–Israeli conflict and the battle of the sexes at the same time?”
Sabra begins to fly away as she tells him, “Old enmities are not easily set aside, Iron Man.” Knight adds on, “I agree! And, since Sabra has gone to seek the prize her way—then too shall I seek it in mine!” He summons a flying carpet to ride away on.
Later in the comic, Arabian Knight is fighting Captain Britain on a rooftop as his carpet goes underneath Sabra, protecting her from a deadly fall. He calls out, “I trust you have landed safely, Israeli?” She angrily asks, “You mean you ordered your carpet to save me?” He replies, “We are teammates, are we not?” She shouts, “I would rather be dead than allied with you!” This distracts Knight, which allows Captain Britan to land several hits as he mocks, “Not very popular with the ladies, are you, Arab?”
The Incredible Hulk (1968) #279: a close-up panel of Sabra as she says, “As a monster, you taught me about humanity!”
Marvel Super-Heroes (1990) #6: a multi panel sequence of Israeli Anarchists in a house with the American Ambassador's son. A man shouts, “This makes no sense! They had us surrounded! Now they're... retreating?” A blonde woman, Windstorm, tells him, “She always works alone!” The man questions who she is talking about, causing Windstorm to elaborate, “Sabra—the one who gave me superpowers when I was near death! But she was a fool to believe I would use my newfound abilities to serve her precious state!” The man tells her that their agenda is to overthrow the country, not battle superheroes to which Windstorm replies, “Speak for yourself. Today is the day I kill Sabra!”
Sabra crashes through the wall and easily defeats the man before she orders Windstorm to step away from the child. The other woman shouts back, “Don't tell me what to do, Sabra! I'm not the lifeless junkie you found in an alley long ago. Having used your mutant ability to give me half your powers—you made me stronger than I'd ever dream! Strong enough to act on behalf of those who believe no government is better than the one we have!”
The Incredible Hulk (1968) #386–387: multi panel sequence of Sabra monologuing to The Hulk after thinking she's been defeated in battle. She says: “All right, monster. You've got me. Finish the job. But don't expect me to beg. The whole world thinks Israel is weak now. We waited for America to defend us from Saddam, and our pride was far more devastated than our cities. Violence against women here—it's becoming commonplace. Frustrated soldiers are beating their wives be-cause they had to stay their hand against Iraq, our anger eats away even at ourselves. So you take a message back to your American friends, monster. You tell them I died with honor. That Israelis fear no enemy. That our people will never again submit to the murderous tyranny—” Hulk cuts her off, telling her that she won. At her confusion, he repeats himself, “I said ‘you win.’ I surrender. I give up. I admit defeat. Hitting you further would be pointless. It's needless brutality, and besides...it probably wouldn't shut you up. Now would you please scrub your platitudes and listen for a minute...?”
The New Warriors (1990) #58–59: a multi panel sequence of Sabra harassing Batal, a Syrian Super-Agent. Batal has a gun pointed to his head by Vance Astrovik as she encourages him, “Go ahead... Shoot him. Shoot him dead.” Another New Warrior asks her, “Jeez! How can you say that so easily... so casually?” Sabra justifies, “As easily as they killed my son.” Vance lowers the gun as another agent apologizes for the ‘warm welcome’. He excuses, “For some reason, the file on you that I was shown didn't have your picture in it... and you looked a bit like those terrorists we just...” Batal snatches his gun back and holsters it as he sarcastically cuts the man off, “Yes, we all look alike, don't we?”
Later in the same comic, Sabra says she wants him no where near the Prime Minister despite Batal not doing anything to warrant her distrust. Vance, a Jewish man, has flashbacks to Sunday School and how a teacher turnt him away from religion. He thinks, ‘Guess Mrs. Rutstein's passive brand of Torah interpretation didn't sit well with other Jews, either... Especially Israelis.’ He suddenly asks Sabra how old was her son. She answers, “Six. He... looked quite a bit like you, actually... his eyes... his mouth... The Arabs killed him on his school bus. A bomb.” Batal yells out, “‘The Arabs’! It was the PLO who killed your son, witch, not ‘the Arabs’! We're sick of your generalizations—.” Sabra doubles down on her racism, “And we're sick of your terrorism! Every day, living in fear—”
Her rant is stopped short but she still utters, “Peace is all we've ever wanted,” before the group of heros, and Sabra, have to provide security at a peace conference. The agent tells them, “Right, kids, you know your positions. Warriors at the rear exits, Sabra and Batal up front. Sabra, take Rabin's side of the table, if it'll make you happy. Batal, that leaves you President Al-Assad. Have a ball. And stay alert... no matter how mind numbingly boring this gets.” The conference begins as everyone takes their seats. Batal whispers, “Well, Sabra? There's a Palestinian over there—aren't you going to push him out of his seat and claim it as your own?” Sabra, who literally had to have a speech by the Hulk to see a dead Palestinian child as human, replies, “I don't respond to child-killers.” Vance asks if they can just let it go but he's told by another Warrior to just forget it.
X-Men (1991) #67–69, 72–73: a close-up of Sabra as she says, “In my homeland, I am known as Sabra. I can only say that I am a mutant member of the Israeli Super Soldier Program... and that I have been trained by the Mossad. Iceman jokes, “Great. The world's deadliest intelligence agency. Does this mean you have to kill us now that you've said that?”
Marvel Encyclopedia, New Edition (2019): a Wikipedia page for the second incarnation of Arabian Knight, who's now portrayed by being a Palestinian Hero, Navid Hashim. His description reads: “Navid Hashim succeeded the original Arabian Knight (Abdul Qamar) when he was killed. Hashim is a Palestinian working for the Saudi Arabians. Alongside Union Jack, he prevented a terrorist attack on London, earning the grudging respect of Israeli hero Sabra. A highly trained fighter, Hashim wields a magical scimitar, and aided Red Hulk and Machine Man to defeat the Sultan Magus. A third Arabian Knight once fought the Black Panther in Wakanda.”
Union Jack #1–4: several multi panel sequences. In this version, Sabra's costume has been changed to be a dark blue body suit with long sleeves and matching pants, a white leotard, hip holsters, and a Star of David necklace. The comic begins with introductions of the team by Philip Gavin, the assistant director of the secret service organization. He says, “Allow me to introduce Sabra, who's on loan from Israel.” Union Jack responds, “I think we met before. You had a different costume.” She tells him, “I outfit myself according to the needs of my mission. As do you, I've noticed.” He corrects, “With me it's more about what's clean, actually.”
Gavin continues, “And the Saudis have sent their new Arabian Knight.” Another team member, Contessa Valentina, side eyes the Knight as she says, “Sabra and I have been meaning to talk to you about that, Gavin. With all due... respect—sending a Saudi to fight terrorists seems a bit like assigning Hugh Hefner to chaperone your daughter. Especially a brand-new operative we know nothing about.” The Arabian Knight, Navid Hashim, who's literally just been sitting there, responds, “I came here at the request of my government to help our friends, not to have my country's and my integrity questioned.” Sabra snaps, “There are no questions, just facts. Your rulers publicly denounce terrorism while funneling money to its bloodiest practitioners.” Navid defends himself from her accusations, “You dare? I have personally led strikes against the extremists, and lost good men doing so. I will not be slandered by the likes of you—”
Later in the comic, Union Jack asks the Knight how'd he happen to be in the area, to which he responds, “Security for a peace summit, as the woman was for the Israelis.” She then enters, saying their target hung up the phone. Contessa jokes, “No wonder. You sounded about as inviting as dental surgery.” Sabra tells her, “My country does not train its women as whores, Contessa. I am more accustomed to the role of a soldier.” Navid says, “Perhaps you should embrace the sacred role of wife and mother, as God intends.” Sabra grabs him by the throat, her fist drawn back in a punch as she shouts, “That ‘sacred role’ was taken from me when Palestinians ambushed a bus full of Israeli schoolchildren. My son among them. If we didn't need you—.” Union Jack sarcastically comments, “Brilliant. This lot'll kill each other before we ever see a terrorist—”
Later, the team is hypnotized to attack Union Jack. At being told he can distract them by turning them against their ‘natural enemies’, he taunts Sabra by saying he's never thought she'll “get cozy with an Arab” and that she's a “stupid cow” for trusting him. She then calls Navid a terrorist scum and attacks him. At the end of the comic, when everything is finally resolved, Sabra and Navid hold a tense silence before she tells him, “You fought well.” He tersely responds, “as did you,” before they both go their own ways.
Astonishing Tales (2009) #6: a panel of Sabra talking with her friend's teenage daughter, Yael. She tells the teenager, “You must be getting close to your mandatory military service.” Yael admits, “I am. To be honest, though, I'm a little nervous. My best friend graduated high school last year and joined the border guard... she was paralyzed when a rocket hit Gaza.” Sabra goes on to be, as the Hulk has previously expressed, a Zionist recruiting board and reassures the child that it's worth joining the IOF to go murder Palestinians for their land.
Avengers (2018) #11: Sabra and the Arabian Knight sitting next to each other while at a meeting called by The Black Panther. They're discussing an issue with Namor the Sub-Mariner, King of Atlantis. Knight says their oceans are congested and that they all must work together to prevent drowning alone. Sabra adds on, “Navid is right. We cannot do Namor's work for him by tearing each other apart. We'll never all agree on everything, but there must be a mutual respect between us and a sharing of information or else...” From off panel, Ursa Major laughs, “Look at Sabra and the Arabian Knight! Even the Jew and the Muslim are agreeing! How touching!”

BDS HAS CALLED FOR A TARGETED BOYCOTT OF PRO-ISRAEL PROPAGANDA CHARACTER SABRA!!!
BOYCOTT SABRA (RUTH BAT-SERAPH) IN MARVEL'S CAPTAIN AMERICA : NEW WORLD ORDER!!!
As Captain America: New World Order is released I urge all fans who are against Zionism to flood the Captain America tags with messages of Boycott Sabra. All the links provided in the graphic are publicly available from their websites, and social media.
Anti-Zionism =/= Anti-Semitism!!! We are boycotting Sabra not because she is Jewish but because she represents a Pro-Israel, Pro-Zionist message that should not be platformed in any media. Her comics have Pro-IDF propaganda.
Marvel was made aware of the fact that this character promotes a Pro-Israeli & Anti-Palestinian sentiment when the character of Sabra was announced for Captain America 4, despite fan concern, and calls for Marvel to remove this character from the movie and despite have more than enough time to respond to what type of statement this would promote, a Pro-Zionist, Pro-Israel stance and despite reshoots Marvel has still chosen to keep Sabra in the movie. Shira Haas is the actress playing Sabra, she is Israeli and has shared Pro-Israel posts online even during the genocide of the Palestinians.
Marvel claims they will be reinventing the character however a character whose very nationality and backstory relies on Pro-Israel & Pro-Zionist ideals is irredeemable especially because not once in all her comic appearances does she ever change her Anti-Palestinian stance. Israel is currently committing a Genocide against Palestinians. Since of October 7th more than 30,000 Palestinians, of which over 12,000 are children, have been murdered by Israel. Over 60,000 have been injured, more missing, and millions displaced in Israel's genocide and ethnic cleansing of the people of Palestine. This is in addition the 75 year long occupation, countless war crimes, and 16 year blockade on Palestinians.
Marvel claims to care about Jewish characters, but Marvel hasn't even cast Jewish actors for Jewish Characters like Moonknight. Marvel choosing to back a Pro-Israel, Pro-Zionist character like Sabra sends a very clear message that aligns with Marvel Comics long held Anti-Palestinian sentiment. There are other Jewish characters for Jewish representation, such as Magneto, and Kitty Pryde, who were not created with a Pro-Israel, Pro-Zionist background.
BOYCOTT SABRA!!! Send a message, write a tweet, make a post, and tag Marvel and Disney and let them know why you are Boycotting Captain America: New World Order. I love Sam Wilson as Captain America but I will never support a movie that has Sabra as a character.
For more information about the character's history here is a breakdown of her appearances in Marvel Comics.
The Incredible Hulk (1968) #256 - Sabra's Origin
Tumblr media
On the cover of Sabra's origin issue is the image of a dead Palestinian boy.
continued...
As we read the issue, we find Bruce Banner/The Hulk has stowed away on the ship "The Star of David" to Palestine, in the comics it is called Israel, however Marvel Comics has long been erasing Palestine, calling it only Israel.
This is Marvel Atlas (2008) #2 page on Israel
Tumblr media
Marvel Fandom Wiki states that Palestine was the name of the land before Israel. While I understand that Marvel's 616 Universe is fictional, it's important to state that they base their locations on Real Life locations, and in 1948 Palestine underwent The Nakba, in which Israeli Forces displaced over 750,000 Native Palestinians and killed countless men, women, and children, stole land and homes, and forced the remaining Palestinians into the Gaza Strip which is the world's largest concentration camp, or confined to the West Bank all of which is under Apartheid laws today, or out of Palestine with no right to return to their homes and lands.
Tumblr media
That being said, Sabra was created in 1980, as a Mossad Agent, Mossad is the Israeli Secret Service which has done so much harm to Palestinians. In her first issue she was working as a cop in Tel Aviv.
Tumblr media
The Editor's note states: "The word Sabra denotes a Native-Born Israeli, the name derived from an indigenous form of fruit - a prickly pear possessed of a sweet interior, and a spiny outer surface to protect it from it's enemies."
Sabr (arabic, it also means "patience") is a cactus prickly pear that is Native to and found growing in Palestine. Read more about it in this article talking about the politics of Palestinian erasure and the Sabr fruit.
The Prickly Symbolism of Cactus Fruit in Israel and Palestine.
“If you look at most Palestinian villages demolished in Israel, what’s left is cactus fruit and olive trees,” says Qattan. Since 1948, he adds, this has imbued the cactus plant with a “mythical symbolism.”
Tumblr media
When Blum’s father started the farm, he knew that many parts of the world have cactus fruit plants, so he wanted to make theirs the best. They chose Dimona, in southern Israel, because of its intense sun and “the Zionist dream of making the desert bloom.”
"Making the desert bloom" is a racist Zionist ideals and propaganda that has caused severe ecological damage to Palestine by destroying thousand years old Olive trees to plant non indigenous trees that are not native to Palestine in a form of ecocide. So even the character Sabra, her very name brings a connection back to the Nakba, the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians & promoting Zionism.
However Sabra's name also has another very real and very tragic memory. One I will discuss here before returning to the comics. Just two years after her appearance in comics in 1980, Israel's war crimes continue.
The Sabra & Shatila Massacre 1982
Tumblr media
The article linked above has information of what occurred September 16-18, 1982. There were the Refugee camps of Sabra & Shatila, where Palestinians displaced from Israeli Occupation lived, and they, as well as Lebanon Civilians, were killed by the right wing Lebanese Militia working with the Israeli Military, which took the lives of 2,000 - 3,500 people in 2 days. Raped, tortured, murdered. Many Palestinians know the history of the massacre and bringing up the names of Sabra & Shatila is a constant reminder of the deaths that occurred, the war crime that was committed, and that 42 years later not one person involved in the massacre was held accountable.
The Sabra and Shatila massacre is remembered as one of the most traumatic events in Palestinian history and its memory is commemorated annually by Palestinians in Lebanon and in Palestine.
Marvel promoting a character like Sabra who's very creation ties into the Pro-Zionist Israel a statement that Marvel is promoting a Pro-Israel message. No matter what changes occur to the character in the movie, already her very creation, her very name is linked to the deaths and torture of thousands of Palestinians. It does not matter that she was created 2 years before the Sabra & Shatila massacre, her name is still connected to the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from the 1948 Nakba and the creation of Israel.
For anyone who says "Well Marvel couldn't change her name just because of Political Controversy" let me remind you that when the American Black Panther Party gained popularity Marvel changed The Black Panther's name temporarily to the Black Leopard because they didn't want to associate the character with the American Black Panther Party.
Now that you have an understanding of why Palestinians are rightfully boycotting an Israeli Propaganda character let me return to the the comics.
Back to The Incredible Hulk (1968) #256; this comic is one of the most Anti-Palestinian, "Arab Terrorist Propaganda" comics I have ever read so I will briefly outline the plot: The Hulk meets a poor Palestinian boy who was stealing a watermelon (The watermelon is the symbol of resistance for Palestinians) and Bruce spends time with the boy, Sahad, however Sahad is killed by a bomb. Hulk is enraged and fights the Arabs, Sabra intervenes and thinks Hulk is in league with the Arabs and attacks him.
Hulk takes Sahad's body away and Sabra thinking Hulk was fighting with the Arab Terrorists goes after him in order to protect Israel. However she finds that Hulk wasn't the monster she thought he was. Hulk's angry speech about the Israel-Palestine conflict leaves Sabra shaken and for the very first time she sees a Dead Palestinian Arab Child as human.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"For an instant, Sabra prepares to give chase. She is, after all, an Israeli Super-Agent... A Soldier... A Weapon of War. But she is also a woman, capable of feeling, capable of caring. It has taken The Hulk to make her see this Dead Arab Boy as a Human Being. It has taken a monster to awaken her own sense of humanity.
Reminder this is her FIRST FULL COMIC, this is her ORIGIN, and you would think that perhaps she is more sympathetic to the plight of the Palestinians after this but she isn't. Let's continue with the rest of her comic appearances.
Marvel Super Hero Contest of Champions (1982) #1-3
Sabra is included in the contest of champions where superheroes must team up to battle their foes, she is teamed up with Iron Man, and The Arabian Knight (1st incarnation: A Saudi Bedouin with mystic artifacts/powers). Again, the Anti-Arab racist stereotype of Arab men being misogynistic towards women (misogyny is not a trait of ONLY Arab men, it is something that occurs world wide, however focusing it only on Arab men is racist) as well as the Zionist Propaganda lies that Arabs hate Jews, Arabs vs Jews, Arabs and Jews are enemies because of their religion. Not to mention that this Arabian Knight (Abdul Qamar) is from Saudi Arabia, he has no ties to Israel, so Sabra is judging him because he is Arab and has conflict with him because of their countries, it ties into the stereotype that "All Arabs are the same", Saudi Arabia is not Palestine.
Tumblr media
Even after The Arabian Knight saves Sabra, she states her hatred and racism towards Arabs; "I would rather be dead than allied with you!"
The Incredible Hulk (1968) #279 - Sabra once again states it was the Hulk who taught her about Humanity.
Tumblr media
Marvel Super-Heroes (1990) #6 - Sabra fights Israeli Anarchists who want to overthrow the Israeli Government and saves the American Ambassador's son, who is deaf. The main villain is a woman who Sabra saved by giving her some of her life energy, and she is upset because she did not want to be saved nor does she want to fight for Israel with the powers Sabra gave her. Sabra takes her life energy back and it kills her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A constant running theme throughout her comics is that one of Sabra's repeated goals is the protection of Israel even above her own life.
The Incredible Hulk (1968) #386-387 - Sabra thinks the Hulk is in league with people who are trying to kill a boy, and attacks him. Later she thinks Hulk has defeated her and has this speech where she says that Israeli Soldiers are beating their wives out of frustration.
Again, how is that not the fault of the soldiers, why is it even when they are perpetrators of violence it's not their fault because they are frustrated?!
Tumblr media
The main plot was that a Jewish man, who survived the German Nazi concentration camps, believed the boy to be the next Hitler which is why he wanted to stop him.
I never downplay the horror of the Holocaust or what Jewish people suffered from Nazis, from Anti-Semitism, throughout their history, but I am mainly focusing on how Sabra's character is in the comics and how that related to Anti-Palestinian, Anti-Arab sentiment.
The New Warriors (1990) #58-59 - Sabra reveals that her six year old son was killed by Arabs, bombed on a school bus, after she urges the New Warriors to kill Batal, a Syrian Super-Agent. Batal then states that it was the PLO (Palestinian Liberation Organization) that killed her son and to stop generalizing all Arabs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Batal: Well Sabra? There's a Palestinian over there -- aren't you going to push him out of his seat and claim it as your own? Sabra: I don't respond to child-killers
Again, Sabra's racism against Arabs doesn't end at Palestinian Arabs, but extended to Saudi Arabia and now Syrian Arabs. LET ME BE VERY CLEAR THAT SABRA IS BEING RACIST: Batal has 2, TWO, only 2 comic appearances, he is there as security detail like Sabra is, there is nothing about his character that indicates he's anything but a Syrian Superhero, and Sabra still called him a child killer because she thinks all Arabs are child killers. Batal is written with the stereotypical racist Arab Man writing that many Arab characters suffer from, and he does insult Sabra by calling her an "Israeli Pig" after she treated Batal with disrespect, distrust, and suspicion ever since his arrival.
Sabra is then mind controlled into stopping the peace conference and killing everyone who allowed it to happen. She is stopped by the New Warriors.
Sabra's son is never once shown in a flashback, we are only ever told of him and how he died.
X-Men (1991) #67-69, 72-73
Sabra's dead son's name is revealed to be Jacob, she uses her position in Mossad to get secret information for the X-Men.
Tumblr media
She later has plans to track down and kill Magneto, but ends up fighting with his clone, Joseph, before being told that wasn't the real Magneto and stopping.
Excalibur (1988) #120-121
Sabra teams up with Excalibur to defend "Israel" from Legion's ghosts. Then she is debriefed of her mission by Mossad.
Uncanny X-Men (1963) #366, 367, 379
Sabra takes Joseph (Magneto's clone) to an Israeli Military bunker where scientists study his DNA and state he is a clone of Magneto. Later Sabra attends Joseph's funeral.
X-Men (1991) #111
Sabra makes a statement about Magneto; Israeli Super-Agent Sabra weighed in on the looming war with her usual candor, "It is clear to me at least that Magneto has become the monster he claims to despise. There are some factions who believe this rumored son of Israel has brought much shame to his countrymen. Factions who believe he should be dealt with once and for all. Okay maybe not factions. But certainly Individuals... like me."
New X-Men (2001) #131-132
Sabra attends a funeral for Darkstar in #131. In #132 Sabra interacts with the mutants, and x-men, and says to Quicksilver (on the apparent death of Magneto), "I'm sorry Quicksilver, but good riddance. Magneto was a master-race lunatic who coherenced the entire Genoshan mutant population into a war with humanity and brought this on himself."
JLA/Avengers (2003) #4
Single panel appearance where Sabra is shown protecting the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem. Again she is called an Israeli hero.
Side Note: I don't think there's been a single comic where Sabra has a major presence that has not mentioned at least once that Sabra is an Israeli Super Hero, a Mossad Agent, or an Israeli Super-Agent at least once. It's so noticeable that they always mention it and how big of a role it plays in her character.
Excalibur (2004) #5
Flashback two panel appearance of Sabra on Genosha.
Civil War: X-Men (2006) #1-4
Sabra fights on the side of Tony Stark/Iron Man and battles Archangel, then aids an injured Micro Max.
Civil War (2006) #6
Sabra fights on the side of Tony Stark/Iron Man.
Union Jack (2006) #1-4
The Arabian Knight has changed mantles, the 2nd incarnation is portrayed by a Palestinian Hero, Navid Hashim. I make mention of this because in Union Jack (2006) #1 Navid is called a Saudi, then in Hulk (2008) #45 Navid is called a Afghani, however the Marvel Fandom Wiki stated he was a Palestinian and I wanted to confirm it, which I did in:
Marvel Encyclopedia, New Edition (2019)
Tumblr media
In the first issue of Union Jack, right off the bat, Sabra has an issue with The Arabian Knight, and is antagonistic towards him.
Tumblr media
Navid is written in Marvel's usual racist writing; the misogynistic Arab man stereotype. Navid tells Sabra she should embrace her role as a mother instead of a hero. Sabra snaps and chokes him while telling Navid that Palestinians killed her son. Note how now it's Palestinians and not, Arabs, and not the PLO? Because by now the PLO is no longer considered a Terrorist group, so Marvel can't blame them and instead shift the blame to all Palestinians for the loss of Sabra's son. Arabs is too general, so of course it's the Palestinians.
To this date Sabra's son, Jacob, has still never appeared in any flashbacks, never seen drawn into a comic with Sabra, no mention of who the boy's father is. Nothing except Sabra's loss and hatred of the Palestinians. Even in her first solo comic series, which I discuss further down, does not mention her son. Using the death of an Israeli child to justify villainizing the entire group of Palestinian people is Zionist Israelis do. It's Anti-Palestinian Propaganda.
Tumblr media
Later Navid gets hurt and Sabra checks on him, he tries to apologize;
Arabian Knight: About your son... I only meant. Sabra: Don't. We are allies of the moment. Another day I would have driven the dagger home.
Later Sabra, The Arabian Knight, and others are mind controlled by the villain to attack Union Jack. Union Jack is told that he can distract them by turning them against their "natural enemies" and then Union Jack insults Sabra and uses Sabra's hatred and racism towards Arabs to turn her against The Arabian Knight. Sabra calls Navid a terrorist as she attacks him.
Tumblr media
The mind control gets broken, and the team rallies to save the day by the last issue. The final exchange between The Arabian Knight and Sabra shows a tense acknowledgement between them meant to show begrudging respect. This is the nicest Sabra has been to any Arab character since her creation. The bar of "showing respect" is literally on the ground.
Tumblr media
Secret Invasion #6
Cameo one panel appearance of Sabra in Israel fighting a Skrull.
Astonishing Tales (2009) #6 - Astonishing Tales: Sabra
Tagline in the comic states: Sabra: Whether as an agent of Mossad, or a superhero, the Israeli mutant Ruth Bat-Seraph has never doubted her decision to put her country above self. Fighting alongside the Avengers, X-Men, and Captain Britain, as the patriotically garbed Sabra. Ruth has proven herself a champion to all nations.
"Sabra in Flight" - is one of the most disgusting pieces of Israeli comic propaganda I have ever read thus far in Sabra's comics. For my first time reading it I was shocked at how easily they projected the narrative of Israel as something noble and worth dying for. This piece of utter trash is the very first time Sabra has her own solo comic story. Let that sink in. This is the first time in 29 years since Sabra's creation 1980 that she has her own solo comic story. Sabra's total presence in the comics is 42 years.
The only things we know of her character is that her name is Ruth Bat-Seraph, she was born and raised in a special Israeli Kibbutz (Israeli settlement), that she manifested mutant powers that include; flight, energy quills, poisoned quills, super strength, and life energy transference. Sabra had a six year old son named Jacob who died in a bombing. She has always stated or maintained her solidarity and defense of Israel even above her own life. She is racist to any Arab, especially Palestinian Arabs.
It also important to note her costume changes over the years, her Star of David has diminished greatly from being on different parts of her uniform to just barely being a necklace/neck accessory. Her roles as Israeli Hero is greater than that of her being a Jewish Hero.
This comic introduces us to Ruth at a Israeli social function in Jerusalem, where is with her mother. Her mother tells her not to spill anything on her Sabra uniform, and mentions how people want to talk to her, Their Greatest Soldier. Again the emphasis on her being an Israeli Soldier and a Mossad Agent is hammered home in the first page of this comic.
Mother: "Your dad would be so proud of you, Ruth. To see his daughter in uniform protecting the Nation." Ruth: "I just hate being put on display at these receptions. I am a Mossad Agent after all."
Then the next bit of news we learn is that Sabra has a brother. So now we know she has a mother and brother who is living, and her father is deceased. Next a old friend of Ruth's arrives with her teenage daughter, Yael, in tow, she introduces Sabra to her daughter and leaves them to talk. Sabra then mentions to Yael that she must be getting close to her mandatory military service soon. Yael mentions she is nervous because her friend was in the military and was paralyzed in Gaza.
Tumblr media
Sabra then spends the next part of the comic reassuring Yael that it's ok to be nervous and that she was nervous too sometimes and mentions a story where she faced Hydra, and that when Yael goes into the Israeli military (IDF: Israeli Defense Force) she will learn a lot.
Sabra: "You'll learn a lot when you enter the Military. But the biggest thing you'll discover is that you have two families; your military family, and your personal family. Both will always be there for you, and perhaps even sacrifice themselves for you. A hard truth I learned the day my dad died rescuing me."
Yael mentions how her father was killed by surface to air missiles, and then goes on to say she was accepted into the air force flight academy and she always wanted to fly but that she was nervous. She mentions she might go into Military Intelligence. Sabra says that is good too but Yael then says she feels she was always meant to fly. So to convince Yael go into air force and alleviate her fears Sabra then takes her in her arms to fly her over Jerusalem and tells her that this land is what their dads died for. And she is convinced that Yael will make the right choice.
Side Note: Excuse me while I throw up, this entire comic made me feel so disgusted. I always try to write and speak about comics as professionally as I can but fuck this comic. Fuck this Pro Israel Propaganda. Fuck Sabra. Fuck this Pro-IDF comic. Fuck making an entire comic about reassuring a young teenage Israeli girl to go and join the IDF to fight in Gaza, to kill Palestinians. THIS. This is why Sabra will NEVER be able to be divorced from her origins, her character, as a Pro-Israeli Super Agent. No matter what Marvel tries to put into the movie this is who the character is at her very core.
Over 12,000 children have DIED since October 7th. Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinian people, but Marvel and the MCU, and Disney think it's ok to have a Israeli Superhero in a Captain America movie? Boycott. Scream out online to them. Tell them we do not want their Israeli Propaganda. Sabra should never ever be used for any platform, movies, shows, animation, comics, ever again. Over 30,000 Palestinians have been slaughtered by Israel in the last few months alone. Never forget.
I'm shaking with rage as I write about this comic but we move on. There's still some comics left to discuss. However in my firm opinion this character is indefensible, she literally is an Israeli Propaganda character. She is propaganda for the IDF.
History of the Marvel Universe (2012)
Cameo Appearance.
Amazing Spider-Man (1963) #685, Amazing Spider-Man: Ends of the Earth (2012) #1
Sabra teams up with Spider-Man and other heroes, she is introduced as a Israeli based mutant, she fights spider robots in Jerusalem.
X-Men (2010) #31, 34-37
In Paris, Sabra greets Storm and later she helps the X-Men using her influence as a Mossad Agent.
X-Men (2013) #9, 11, 16 + X-Men Legacy (2012) #23
Sabra aids the X-Men.
Captain America: Steve Rogers (2016) #18
One page Cameo, Sabra appears to have completed a mission and gathered files.
Avengers (2018) #11
Tumblr media
Sabra and the Arabian Knight are at a meeting called by The Black Panther. T'Challa wants everyone to work together, they are currently discussing an issue with Namor the Sub-Mariner, King of Atlantis. Ursa Major makes fun of the situation; "Haaaa, look at Sabra and the Arabian Knight! Even the Jew and the Muslim are agreeing! How touching!
Zionist propaganda of making it seem as if the conflict between Israel and Palestine is a religious conflict between an Arab and a Jew. Making of a Jewish and Muslim character getting alone because they should be fighting is racist, Islamophobic, and anti-sematic. The conflict between Israel and Palestine is NOT a religious conflict, Israel has been occupying and murdering Palestinians for 75 years. It is a conflict between Israel being a colonizer and Palestine being colonized. Israel is committing a genocide as I create this post.
At the end of all her appearances spanning 42 years Sabra has not once changed from her palestinian, arab hating, israeli zionist roots. All we get is her trading a few words back and forth with Arabian Knight and acting like an adult at a table full of kids. There isn't even respect between them. That is all the appearances of Sabra.
Why is important to boycott Sabra? In addition to the character being Pro-Israel, Pro-IDF Propaganda, giving a large platform like the one an MCU movie provides will give the actress a larger platform.
Israeli Actress, Gal Gadot, who is Pro-Israel, Pro-Zionism, Pro-IDF, and was a former IDF soldier, was cast in a high profile role of Wonder Woman, she used her platform, power, and access to thousands of fans to further messages of Zionism and even promoted a Pro-Israel propaganda film to be aired in Hollywood. The film was used to further the Zionist agenda of continuing their genocide against the Palestinians in Gaza. Bearing Witness (2023) is a Israel IDF propaganda film that Gal Gadot endorsed as Israel continued their genocide of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Wonder Woman isn't even Israeli, however the actress used her ties to the character to promote Israel. In Wonder Woman: 1984 there is a very racist, Anti-Arab, Anti-Palestinian message including a scene where Wonder Woman, played by Gadot, saves 4 Arab boys from a missile. Article Link
Why is that scene so controversial? Because Israel murdered four young boys who were playing on a beach in Gaza back in 2014 by a drone missile strike. Article Link
Gal Gadot and now Shira Haas having roles in movies with as much exposure as DC and Marvel movies promotes Israel, and Zionism. Pro Zionist groups have already voiced their approval of Shira Haas playing Sabra.
I will boycott any piece of media that features Sabra, the Israeli Propaganda Super Agent.
Use the Captain America tags to Boycott Sabra.
If you have read this far then please support Palestine. Support Palestinians and fight against Zionism. Comics were created by Jewish Creators, do not let Zionists try to erase their contribution or use comics to promote Zionism. Comics are never created in a vacuum, they are the pulse of current pop culture, of current news. Comics are Political and always have been. Marvel choosing to keep Sabra in the MCU sends a clear message of support for Zionism & Israel.

Every kid is one caring adult from a success story - YMCA
Jordan Neely [had] 42 prior arrests to his credit while still walking around as a free man**** After all, if fracturing an old woman’s nose and eye socket, exposing your genitalia to women, repeated heavy drug use, and an assortment of other repeated crimes don’t keep you in jail, what will?  So, when that criminal stepped onto the New York subway on May 3 of last year and began, per witnesses, “ranting insanely,” claiming that someone was going to die that day and that he did not mind going back to prison, the passengers were understandably terrified. Some prayed. Some tried to hide. Others tried to avoid eye contact.*** Greg Salsbury
Andre Zachary, Neely's father, is suing to obtain money from Neely's death. But where was he when Neely needed a caring adult?

Abundant Life Christian School shooting
A 15-year-old girl shot eight people at her school on Monday around 1100 in Madison, Wisconsin. Two died, and she apparently killed herself. A 2d grader called 911 to report the murders.
John 10 quotes Jesus saying
9 I am the door; a man will find salvation if he makes his way in through me; he will come and go at will, and find pasture.  10 The thief only comes to steal, to slaughter, to destroy; I have come so that they may have life, and have it more abundantly.

A California man has been detained and had his guns seized after allegedly texting Wisconsin school shooter Natalie Rupnow about his plans to blow up a government building. Alexander Paffendorf, 20, was issued a gun-violence restraining order and detained by FBI agents after he was accused of messaging the 15-year-old shooter around the time of her attack on the Abundant Life Christian School in Madison on Monday. The Carlsbad resident allegedly told Rupnow that he “would arm himself with explosives and a gun and that he would target a government building,” according to a two-page restraining order obtained by CBS 8. How Paffendorf and Rupnow knew each other is not immediately clear. The FBI declined to comment.***

River Page notes
Ketanji Brown Jackson became the first Supreme Court justice to star in a Broadway musical this week, when she had a cameo in & Juliet, a “queer” retelling of Shakespeare’s classic in which Juliet decides not to kill herself and instead runs off to Paris with a nonbinary character. Supreme Court justices serve for life, which probably makes KBJ the most job-secure theater kid to have ever lived. Next time, we want to hear her sing.
More on the judicial front: Polling from Gallup, released yesterday, shows that Americans’ confidence in their country’s judicial system dropped to a record low of 35 percent this year. In the past four years, it’s dropped 24 percentage points. It’s almost as if political prosecutions are a terrible way to repair trust in the judicial system.
Three people have been confirmed dead following a shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin, including a teacher, a student, and the shooter, Natalie “Samantha” Rupnow, a 15-year-old girl who attended the school and died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Six others were injured. Madison mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway bristled at the idea that reporters would want information on the victims, saying in a press conference it was “none of y’all’s business” who was killed in the shooting. A purported manifesto has been circulating online, though police say that they cannot confirm its authenticity and are working to determine a motive.
In 2020, the average American city experienced a homicide rate spike of around 30 percent. Some have claimed that the rise was caused by a “police pullback” following the death of George Floyd in May of that year. But new research from the Brookings Institute suggests that murder rates were already rising and that Covid policies, which left young, poor men unemployed and out of school, might have had more to do with it.
More than $140,000 has been crowdfunded for the legal defense of Luigi Mangione, the man accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Manhattan earlier this month. The funds are unsolicited, and Mangione’s lawyer has said he would “probably” not accept money from donors. But it’s the latest sign of the disturbing affection so many clearly have for the alleged killer. Meanwhile, a new Emerson College poll found that 41 percent of respondents under 30 find the shooting of Thompson “acceptable.”***

Total dirtbag -
A grand jury in Salt Lake City returned an indictment today charging Special Agent David Cole of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), 50, of South Jordan, Utah, with conspiring with another HSI special agent to sell alpha-PHP, a drug commonly referred to as “bath salts,” in Utah. According to court documents, Cole and another HSI special agent used their status as federal law enforcement officers to acquire bath salts by representing to others in HSI and in other law enforcement agencies that they were going to use the bath salts to conduct legitimate HSI investigations. Cole and his co-conspirator then sold bath salts to HSI confidential human sources for thousands of dollars and allowed those sources to resell the bath salts on the streets of Utah for a profit. Cole and his co-conspirator profited hundreds of thousands of dollars through their illegal drug sales.***

Good news: effective law enforcement in NYC
Bad news: it's China
Chen Jinping, 60, of New York, New York, pleaded guilty today to conspiring to act as an illegal agent of the government of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), in connection with opening and operating an undeclared overseas police station, located in lower Manhattan, for the PRC’s Ministry of Public Security (MPS).*** As alleged, Chen Jinping and co-defendant “Harry” Lu Jianwang conspired to act as illegal agents of the PRC government and also obstructed justice by destroying evidence of their communications with an MPS official. While acting under the direction and control of the MPS official, the defendants worked together to establish the first known overseas police station in the United States on behalf of the Fuzhou branch of the MPS. The police station — which closed in the fall of 2022 — occupied an entire floor in an office building in Manhattan’s Chinatown. Lu and Chen helped open and operate the clandestine police station. None of the participants in the scheme informed the U.S. government that they were helping the PRC government surreptitiously open and operate an undeclared MPS police station on U.S. soil. In October 2022, the FBI conducted a judicially authorized search of the illegal police station. In connection with the search, FBI agents interviewed both defendants and seized their phones. In reviewing the contents of these phones, FBI agents observed that communications between the defendants and an MPS official appeared to have been deleted. In subsequent consensual interviews, the defendants admitted to the FBI that they had deleted their communications with the MPS official after learning about the ongoing FBI investigation, thus preventing the FBI from learning the full extent of the MPS’s directions for the overseas police station. Chen faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison. Per Chen’s plea agreement, the government has agreed to dismiss the obstruction of justice charge against him. Lu has pleaded not guilty to both of the charges against him and is awaiting trial.***

Should have to breathe diesel exhaust
Louisiana-based company Power Performance Enterprises Inc. (PPEI) and its president and owner, Kory B. Willis, were sentenced yesterday in federal court in Sacramento, California, for violating and conspiring to violate the Clean Air Act by tampering with the monitoring devices of emissions control systems of diesel trucks. U.S. District Court Judge John A. Mendez for the Eastern District of California sentenced Willis to serve 10 months of home confinement as part of a three-year term of probation and ordered Willis and PPEI to jointly pay $1.55 million in criminal fines. PPEI was ordered to complete a five-year term of probation. Willis and PPEI pleaded guilty in March 2022. In total, Willis and PPEI have been ordered to pay $3.1 million in criminal fines and civil penalties related to Clean Air Act enforcement.*** Willis and PPEI reached the top of the illegal delete tuning market, tuning over 175,000 vehicles according to Willis. Willis also stated that PPEI was the biggest custom tuning company in the world, servicing over 100,000 customers and tuning more than 500 vehicles a week. According to internal PPEI records, PPEI typically sold well over $1 million dollars of product per month. According to calculations by the EPA, the estimated emissions impact of PPEI’s sales of delete tunes between 2013 and 2018 alone are expected to cause over 100 million excess pounds of nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions over the life of the diesel trucks equipped with those products.   Deleting a diesel truck causes its emissions to increase dramatically. For example, for a fully deleted truck, which has had all emissions equipment removed or disabled, EPA testing quantified the increased emissions as follows: NOx increased 310 times, non-methane hydrocarbons increased 1,400 times, carbon monoxide increased 120 times and particulate matter increased 40 times. EPA’s Air Enforcement Division released a report in November 2020 finding that more than half a million diesel pickup trucks in the United States — approximately 15% of U.S. diesel trucks that were originally certified with emissions controls — have been illegally deleted.***

Good - some accountability for violating mores
CNN — The House Ethics Committee secretly voted earlier this month to release its report into the conduct of former Rep. Matt Gaetz before the end of this Congress, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the matter. The report is now expected to be made public after the House’s final day of votes this year as lawmakers leave Washington for the holidays, those sources said. The vote, which has not previously been reported, amounts to a stark reversal for the panel after it had voted along party lines in late November not to release the results of the investigation. The decision to release the report suggests that some Republicans ultimately decided to side with Democrats on the matter, and it is unclear if the committee will once again change course now that it has voted.***

Tumblr media
I will be comparing two games within the Sci-Fi category that I had mentioned in my previous post, Star Fox and Destiny. These two games within the industry continue to have massive changes to its storytelling and gameplay.
Tumblr media
Brief summary: You play as Fox McCloud, an anthropomorphic fox that is a leader in a space fleet that must rid the Lylat system free from the evil plans of a mad scientist… For most of the games. Depending on the title, some games differ from one another on who exactly the antagonist is and their end goal.
Tumblr media
I bring up this game in particular as it is one of many games that attempt to try out different formulas in their storytelling and gameplay and it is obvious what the fans want versus what the company keeps trying to do. No one faults them for attempting to add some interesting elements to the story, but how much of a change is too much before it becomes too different from the original IP?
I will be mentioning three games from the series as to compare the adaptations the lore has had over the years of titles. These games include Star Fox 64, Star Fox Assault, and Star Fox Adventures. Star Fox 64 focuses on a young space pilot who travels with his team across the Lylat system to keep it safe from evil forces. Along the way you encounter old friends, old enemies, and even older haunts from the past. So why is adding lore to the characters as well as breadcrumbs of secrets on each mission important to the game?
Creating a game relies on more than just updated graphics and game mechanics, there also needs to be that drive behind the game in order to keep the player not only finishing the story once, but multiple times. Games from over twenty years ago were often meant to be played in a short amount of time, usually a few hours compared to games today where games have sixty plus hours of gameplay.
Tumblr media
What sort of gameplay did Star Fox bring into the gaming world that made it so appealing? There are a few factors that come into play and I will be expanding on this with various viewpoints from the perspective of a fan of the game and as a game designer.
Tumblr media
Image on left: Star Fox Assault (Ground) Image on right: Star Fox 64 3DS
Initially, the game itself is known for being a rail shooter game. Rail shooters are games that keep players on a very limited movement path while the world around them evolves over time. This is a great introduction to shooting games for people who may find a free roaming shooter game too intimidating or difficult to play. A lot of early video games implemented this design when video games started to make use of better graphics to emulate a 3D space or actually shifting into a 3D space.
The first game in the series I will discuss will be Star Fox 64, one of the early games on the Nintendo64.
Star Fox 64: This game takes place inside an air or ground craft, depending on the mission's location. The game itself is often quoted as one of the best games in the series, regardless of it being a remake of the original game, Star Fox. With improved graphics, added voice acting, secret pathways where adventurous players would find, and additions to the overall game mechanics, it sets up the series to focus on finding new ways to push the limited rail shooter system to new levels. But how far can it go before the game repeats itself? Overall, the game itself brings in fun ways to try out something different with each new title in the series. The game is even considered to be a space opera, if you can believe it! The story is rich with little details and dramatic turns, a lot of people fondly look back at it as a fantastic addition to that genre.
“It's still an excellent game all these years later, with thrilling action, delicate and precise controls, stirring music, humour, spectacle, and edge-of-your-seat excitement.” (Lane, 2023)
Star Fox Assault: A mixture of aircraft gameplay as well as foot soldier gameplay. This is one of the other games that they have in the series that uses this out of aerial and tank combat and has never been favorable among fans. These segments could have been worked with a different type of combat system that allows players to explore the cities they fly over in some sort of new form of warfare.
“However, playing on foot….sort of sucks. If it was as competent as the Arwing parts, this might be an all time favorite. However, it’s not and it often feels like two different games entirely. “ (dollerz, 2024)
The technology the game has is more than capable of handling a person (animal?) in a mech suit of some kind. Unfortunately changes between the highly advanced to the… Not so advanced hinders the game and how it plays out in more than just one way. However, there are times where the Player does gain access to some pretty cool tech on the ground level instead of just a somewhat futuristic gun.
Tumblr media
Image: Star Fox Adventures
Star Fox Adventures: Almost entirely on ground. Adventure exploration game, that completely deviates from the original game plan for the series. This game was changed to be a last minute Star Fox game and was not meant to be a part of the series.
“According to legend, Shigeru Miyamoto was shown footage of Dinosaur Planet and suggested that the game should be re-tooled to incorporate Fox McCloud and company. Rumours also abound that the change wasn’t accepted willingly by all of the Dinosaur Planet team, as the plot had to be rewritten in places to accommodate the Star Fox canon.” (McFerran ,2022)
The gameplay itself falls under a very unique and unfortunately seen as an often disliked feature in collectathon games. These games where you have to collect a certain amount of items before you can progress on the story can make storybeats feel underwhelming at times if the player becomes too frustrated with its repetitive mechanics. After this game received a lot of negative backlash and seen as one of the worst installments to the series (gameplay wise, a lot of the fans enjoyed the story due to a fan favorite character being introduced to the series) Nintendo opted to return back to its futuristic setting in space.
Tumblr media
Brief summary: You are brought back to life after the near extinction of human civilization and must now defend the last remaining human species on Earth in a place called the Last City. A small drone-like piece of equipment who calls himself Ghost, is your new companion that brought you back from the dead. Depending on the character creation you are brought back with one of three types of Player classes Warlock, Titan, or a Hunter and given other worldly powers and must use the last bit of Golden Age technology available after the Collapse of humanity.
Tumblr media
In Destiny, the worlds you explore have once been a part of a greater civilization when humanity reached its Golden Age by a traveling machine god dubbed the Traveler. Sounds intimidating to have a machine god bring you back to life for a war that has been going on for billions of years, so how do you show and tell a story this vast without losing your audience? Story beats that are broken into bite sized chunks, extra lore on the side, and a lot of community effort.
Tumblr media
The Traveler above Earth.
This giant machine first appeared near Jupiter and started to reshape one of its moons into a habitable place. Once humanity officially came in contact with the Traveler on Mars, they were able to study and learn from it to advance their technology to unseen heights. This allowed interstellar travel, major advances in medicine, as well as planetary colonization.
“We called it the Traveler, and its arrival changed us forever. Great cities were built on  Mars and Venus. Mercury became a garden world. Human lifespan tripled. It was a time of miracles.” (The Speaker, 2:04)
Destiny does not only limit itself to science fiction, it also brings in magic to help fill in the gaps to bring in wonder and exploration. However, this does not shy away from using high end technology to its advantage. Shapeships (Jumpship), space motorcycles (Sparrow), and even the Ghost that revives you are part of the advanced technology.
“... While you’d think stepping outside in a Venusian storm would mean your skin would be dissolved by the acid rain, in Destiny’s case that’s not what happens.” (Hadzaman, 2021)
There are people within the game, Exos, who were once human and now are completely machines. The lore behind them consists of a research facility named Clovis Bray Exo Science and Engineering, named after its creator, Clovis Bray that first created these machines to house the human mind. However, his company was not the only one that used this newfound technology in this way. BrayTech (another name given to the company from its many branches) and held a rivalry with another company that also experimented with human to robot machinery, Ishtar Collective.
Tumblr media
An Exo, previously a human.
Tumblr media
Whether you are playing against the enemies of humanity or other Guardians (Players) there is a wide variety of weaponry, magic, and a whole lot of unexplainable science that goes on behind those trigger fingers. Though, magic is also unexplainable science, so double the magic?
Tumblr media
Image: IKELOS_SG_v1.0.3 a weapon from the Mars branch of BrayTech.
A shotgun repurposed with the technological feat of a super intelligent A.I. called Rasputin, a Warmind in game. One of its purposes is meant to monitor the solar system via a vast array of satellites that are scattered across the solar system. Both the Player and the characters within the game use technology like this as a means of protection as well as attack. Other facilities based on various in-game research companies are used to their disposal. While many post-apocalyptic games use weapons from their past, Destiny brings in narratively that these weapons may be “outdated” by a few hundred years, but they are able to be crafted as brand new weapons and armor.
“While in the Destiny universe, weaponry and energy are dictated by the game’s own lore and concepts of how everything functions, it’s clear Bungie’s writing team did their homework on this one. The weapon’s name doesn’t just serve as flavor, but is a simplified demonstration of a foundation of electricity and magnetism.” (Hadzaman ,2021)
This type of narrative within the game allows players to truly be a part of the game itself with its better immersion of actually needing to gather supplies such as blueprints and materials in order to craft them on a machine that literally pulls from them different timelines. (Not the first time that this happened either!)
Tumblr media
So what is any of the above different from other games such as Mass Effect, Borderlands, Anthem, or even other MMOs? One of the reasons is the constant testing and feedback process. In earlier segments of the game's lifespan, gathering resources was a chore that was almost unbearable. Exploits were almost mandatory in order to complete blueprints and quest steps in order to craft items in a timely manner. With live testing that the majority of the other games were unable to do due to not being online based games, adjustments were made readily available. With Destiny being a live game and nearing the major climax of its story, there are bound to be more changes within the coming year.

The Hunger Games
Tumblr media
Classic YA Novel: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins Collins, S. (2008). The Hunger Games. Scholastic Press.
Rating: 5 stars
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is one of those books that withstand the tale of time. This novel brings the readers into a future dystopia in what was once the United States but is now known as Panem. Panem comprises 13 districts and the Capitol, known for its riches and life of ease, but since the upraise district, 13 were bombed, and only 12 remain. The Treaty of Treason was formed because of this uprising. Now, each year, to remember why the treaty was signed, the Capitol holds The Hunger Games. In the Hunger Games, all 12 districts are forced to select two children, one boy, and one girl tribute, from the ages 12 to 18, to fight to the death until only 1 of the 24 children remains.  This novel starts right before the 74th Hunger Games. This is where we meet Katniss Everdeen and her sister, Primrose.  Katniss's name is in the reaping several times because she has taken out extra food portions, and as the quote goes, “may the odds be ever in your favor.” this does not fare well for Katniss. Still, Primrose has only one entry; Primrose’s name gets called, and Katniss volunteers in her place. The male tribute from her district is Peeta Mellark, who Katniss recognized as the boy who saved her life by giving her bread. Katniss struggles with the idea of having to kill him. On the way to the Hunger Games to the Capitol, ensure all the tributes are well-fed, dressed, and cleaned.  They put on a show where they parade them though the town on chariots, they also have them all train together before the games some of these tributes being ones that trained and volunteered to be here while some have to skills at all. Katniss, though, has her hunting of animals. The last part of the show, before they televise the games, is to have each contestant go on for an interview, which is a last chance to really try and win sponsors. Throughout these games, Katniss must battle the elements, capital mutts, and the other tributes to return to her family.
The Hunger Games is a read everyone should pick up and read once, twice, or ten times. This is a classic because it resonated with people back in 2008 and still has those same abilities in 2016 or 2024. Many can relate to this story because it is about Katniss, who is willing to fight back against the system after seeing how messed up it truly is. Then we have Peeta Mellark, who we can connect with by not waiting for the system to change who we are at the core. Twenty years down the line and even one hundred years, this feeling will still be identifiable because people will be trying to fight the injustices that are taking place worldwide, from women’s rights to civil rights, light rights, and so much more. This novel also really picks up on the idea of how desensitized to killing we have all become; the book shows that the Capitols population enjoys watching children die, while for us, you can say that mass shootings of children in schools feel like they are just being mourned and then moved on from, without any change. This book is a classic and will keep getting picked up by more generations.

Poe’s Chaos Guide to Andor Star Wars Fic
(because ao3 sorting isn't specific enough, I want my own chaos sorting system and here it is)
The Bad Batch:
Canon compliant:
Missed a Lot (feat: Crosshair & Tech (yes, I said canon compliant) and people getting to experience some damn grief ffs set between s3e9-post-finale) (if you're looking for closure for these two, this one's for you)
Mayday (feat: Hunter & Crosshair, end of s3e4 - end of e5 scene filler)
Decryption (feat: Echo, Rex, Crosshair, end of s2 - end of s3e5 expansion/filler)
Along the Way (feat: Crosshair & Omega, post-finale)
Shadow (Crosshair & Hunter, see tags and author note, dark themes)
Expendable (Crosshair - Barton IV Mayday & CF99 & esp Tech angst)
Almost Canon compliant:
Something than Nothing (feat: Hunter & Crosshair post s3e5)
Unyielding (post s3e4 speculation on what came after the reunion that actually held up impressively well)
The Point Where CX-Tech Thoughts Started to Creep In (pass the salt)
Landed (stream of consciousness'ish Tech post s2-s3e7)
Breathe (CX-Tech post-series AU feat: Tech & Crosshair recovery)
Primary Mission Objective (CX-Tech back half of season 3 rewrite; Tech, Crosshair, Emerie POVs)
Clear Line of Sight (CX-Tech Extraction divergence feat: Wolffe & Cody) (WIP)
Speculation stuff that started compliant and diverged:
Plans Change (feat: Rampart & Crosshair post s3e12 and gave Rampart too much credit lol)
A Hit or a Miss (feat: Tech & Phee s2e13 and Crosshair & Phee post s3e11)
53% (feat: Echo & Crosshair set post s3e5)
The Feral Energy episode 3 gave me fun times with Omega & Crosshair:
Plan 72 (feat: Hunter & Wrecker approaching what's probably a trap)
Plan 99 (feat: Crosshair wondering wtf to do now)
Plan 100 (feat: an extra dramatic recovery operation)
32 Rotations (Crosshair & Omega post-ep4 AU in which eps 2&3 occurred concurrently and Hunter & Wrecker missed the rendezvous)
And for a complete change of pace:
Atmospheric Interference (series; cloneship, Tech/Crosshair, pre-TCW to post-TBB AU, dark themes, see tags)
Sanctuary of Sorts (series; cloneship, Tech/Crosshair, priest/demon AU. Yeah.)
First Time for Everything (cloneship, Tech/Crosshair, silly smut)
Andor:
Breaking Cassian Andor for fun and profit:
Pre-series: The Thing Itself (feat: all those little things Luthen knows about Cassian + creative use of Fest backstory + all the other little indulgent tie-ins I worked into this fic)
Sub-category Brasso my Beloved: Pull Together
                                                                  Spark
Post-series:
Sub-category Melshi my Beloved: Mirror
                                                              Mask
Breaking Everyone Else for Fun and Profit:

Remember (Kleya & Draven)
Chandrilan Hospitality (Mon)
The Random Factor (K-2SO)
Sub-category Putting Them Back Together in the End: Stone and Sky (Kleya & Ferrix crew)
Light(er)-hearted Spy’ish Romps:
Yearn (Luthen & Kleya)
Inside (feat: Draven)
Clarity of Purpose (feat: Melshi, Draven, K-2SO, Luthen, and where Axis & Fulcrum collide)
Double (Melshi)
Spectacle (Draven)
All In (Kleya & Cassian)
Poe’s obsession with the next 5 minutes after the screen goes to black
Everything (feat: a scenic detour)
Pyre (feat: Kleya really wants to shoot Cassian Andor, okay?)
Sub-category Poe’s obsession with the missing Sky Kyber: Something More
That Thing the final scene of the show did to Poe’s brain and she makes no apologies:
(Or to quote tag: Handling and Manhandling)
Yield (Cassian's unsanctioned foray into sexpionage)
Escape (the one that's fucked up, but like, soft about it)
Floodgate (feat: water-type Cassian Andor)
(Or to quote tag: Being dysfunctional with one another to the point of self-destruction)
Ghosts (some of those Fondor trips are actually for the art, right?)
Equation (the one that's just fucked up, but Dr Gorst gets what's coming to him (offscreen) so it's okay in the end)
