Started watching a new anime and the first episode has me so bewildered basically it's meant to be a cinderella story evil step mom wicked half sister that crack only one of the things they have to show how horrible cinderella girls life is by having the boy who she has feelings for become engaged to the half sister and she is so smug about the whole thing despite this being objectively the worst possible husband choice for her since he's also so in love with cinderella like sweetheart your gonna spend the rest of your life with a man who is more in love with your wet blanket of a sister and honesty he's not even that pretty I get you hate cinderella but she's moving away you've gotta start thinking about your future

Something I love about ATLA is that it doesn't force the "forgive the villain" on all the characters. It's been left clear that Ozai is a bad person, and there's no chance of redemption; the only reason he's not dead yet is because Aang is a pacifist

The one episode where a character is supposed to forgive someone who has hurt them in the past is the one where Katara is off to kill a man (which, fair) and Zuko helps. In that episode, even if Aang is telling her to let go, she doesn't forgive him. She never will. But she spares him. Not because she thinks he doesn't deserve death (he does), but because she's not willing to continue the cycle of violence

Killing someone can have a very important impact in your entire being, mostly depending on who you are as a person. Aang would've never recovered from killing Ozai. Katara wouldn't be who she is now, had she taken her revenge on the man that killed her mother

And the best part of it is that Ozai doesn't deserve to die. Not in a "I'm defending him" way (ew), but in a "he deserves worse that than" way

Taking away his bending was the perfect punishment for him. He believed bending made you superior and he never cared enough to train something besides his bending. What a loser. Zuko and Azula wouldn't be restrained by something like that

I was actually thinking qgour Ravage and Cosmos earlier… Ravage begrudgingly “accepting” cosmos bc Soundwave cares so deeply for him and Soundwave’s safety and happiness is the most important thing to Ravage.. and this pathetic, meek autobot seems very insistent on making Soundwave as happy as possible (and Primus, its working) so she supposes hes not… that…. bad……. (also he’s really warm so that’s cool she guesses. whatever)

He’s so nice it throws her off guard, she has the urge to hunt him like prey every time he says hi to her in that bubbly way of his (Soundwave squints at her in a silent reprimand and she grumpily puts her claws away. She wasn’t actually gonna do it.)
