I feel like we don't talk enough about the fact that Shari Lewis, puppeteer and creator of Lamb Chop's Play-Along (among many other things), cowrote the Star Trek episode where Scotty finally gets laid

Shari Lewis was an imaginative puppeteer who created the characters Lamb Chop and Charlie Horse.
In 1952, Lewis appeared on the television show Talent Scouts, winning first prize with her hand puppet Lamb Chop. Four years later, she appeared with the puppet on Captain Kangaroo. Her extensive work in television included her own shows, Shari-Land and The Shari Show, in the late 1950s and early 1960s. By 1959, she had won four Emmy Awards—two as "most outstanding female personality" and two for "television's most outstanding children's show." She died #ThisWeekInHistory in 1998.

Little Muppet Sesame Things #39
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's a bit of a Jaded Jewel Fun Fact: I don't remember ever watching Lamb Chops' Play-along when it aired, but I do remember watching parts of the show when I would visit my Dad's old boss's house when his wife would look after me during summer one year. They had two little girls and they LOVED watching Barney and Friends. I watched out of amusement and liked it, but some were taped off of PBS and Lamb Chop used to air before Barney, so I was introduced to Lamb Chop through that.
Later on, I've grown to appreciate Shari Lewis and Lamb Chop, so here's Shari and Lamb Chop on Sesame meeting Big Bird and giving Lamb Chop a little lesson on meeting new people.
Things I love: Lamb Chop's reaction when she spots Big Bird (pic 2), Big's Bird's "Who me?" reaction in pic 3 as Lamb Chop goes "Oh, would you look at the size of that guy!", and everything about how gentle Big Bird is with her like petting her back and holding her little hand.

Does anyone know where to watch the 1973 version of Mickey and the Beanstalk narrated by Shari Lewis and Lamb Chop?
I'd love to see it. I've seen all three other versions of the cartoon: the original from Fun and Fancy Free narrated by Edgar Bergen and his dummies, the version narrated by Ludwig von Drake, and the version narrated by Sterling Holloway. The Shari Lewis version is the only one I haven't seen.
Shari Lewis and Lamb Chop really were like later, female counterparts to Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy. They were their spiritual successors. (And Lewis was technically a better ventriloquist than Bergen ever was.) I'm sure they would have done just as good a job of narrating Mickey and the Beanstalk.
