eye candy — Sakusa Kiyoomi
Tumblr media
summary: only you have kiyoomi's heart. and he'll make sure every single one knows that.
Tumblr media
It's lunch break, and Kiyoomi peacefully savors his beef stew, his cousin making him company as usual, sitting beside him at the table far from the noisy students. Among the cafeteria, comments about the next volleyball match can be heard, especially with the semifinals of the spring tournament qualifiers, wondering if the team’s star will keep up with his performance or fail to give the school another victory.
What does he think about their opinion?
Well, actually, he just doesn't care.
Sakusa doesn’t play to get fan’s approval or popularity: he plays because he enjoys what he does. Being noticed is just an effect of his efforts to become a professional someday, and even though the spotlight brings some benefits, he wouldn’t mind if his whole fanclub disappeared suddenly. Most of their support is superficial and sham, too shallow for his liking.
Who truly matters to Omi is those who have always been there for him, way before his rise. Like you, for example.
His favorite fan.
He cares for you so, so much, in a way he never imagined he could do it. It’s strange, now thinking of it, how someone so skeptical about love before now does anything possible to show you how much he appreciates your existence, and how grateful he is for being yours, and for having the honor of calling you his.
If it depends on Sakusa, this will remain for the rest of his life.
Motoya’s a front row spectator of your relationship, being there since the moment you and his cousin first interacted with each other, you politely asking to borrow one of his pens in History class. Imagine the blonde’s shock when he saw Omi not cleaning the pen after you’ve returned.
He was the first one to hear about the brunette's feelings, the one who helped him pick the first date place, the flowers, the gifts, even the dorky letters Omi sent to your address, wanting to be different from the usual texting-guys. If there’s one person in the world who knows how crazy in love Sakusa Kiyoomi is for you, it’s Motoya. He isn’t bothered at all, having a lot of fun every time he watches his cousin getting all doki doki whenever you’re around.
And how protective he gets when you’re not.
“Sakusa.” A girl suddenly approaches their table, her sultry but invasive voice interrupting the chewing of both cousins. If Motoya’s not mistaken, this girl is Tai, one of Class D students. He secretly grimaces, already predicting the reason she came to talk to Omi, like all the other girls that has been crushing on his cousin.
Poor girl.
Kiyoomi doesn’t even look up from his food, preparing a spoon full of vegetables. “Yes?”
“Um-” She fidgets a little with the disinterest in his tone, but a charming smile appears on her face nonetheless. Oh, she’s trying hard. “I just came to wish you a good game this Friday. I’ll be cheering for you on the stands.”
“Hmmm.” He doesn’t even hide his boredom, contemplating the pleasing taste of the seasoned stew. He hopes the staff used gloves while preparing it this time. “Didn’t know you were part of the cheer’s team.”
“N-no!” She chuckles a little too loud, trying to hide her nervousness. “I’m not part of the team. I just… I wanted to cheer just for you, you know? Give you some boost for the game.”
Unfortunately for her, this time he raises his gaze until it finds her anxious eyes, which averts when they notice the unpleasant frown on his face. “Boost? Do you think I need your cheers to play well?”
“N-not at all. But, you know, having an eye candy could help you play even better.”
Motoya snorts loudly, not being able to hold how impressed he is by the girl’s dumb confidence. Is she that clueless? Sakusa has been dating you for almost six months, there’s no way she doesn’t know by now that he’s taken. He watches as his cousin stares at her for a few uncomfortable seconds, his cold glare making even him uncomfortable. Thank goodness, he is not the target this time.
“I don’t see any eye candy here.” Short and frank, Omi answers her move.
Tai looks clearly dejected, but she took the hint that insisting wouldn’t do any good to her side. To lessen the embarrassing moment, she nods at him, pretending his words didn’t have an effect on her heart, and she offers him a brief goodbye before rushing away from their table, shoulders slowly falling with shame.
“Oof, that one hurted.” Motoya breaks the silence, his eyes widening as he checks his wristwatch. “Twenty-five seconds! It’s your new ditch record, Omi-kun.”
Sakusa rolls his eyes at his comment, having another spoon of his stew “She's been trying that for weeks. She even knows ______.”
“Well, I think she got the message now.” The blonde chuckles, eyes twinkling as he spots you entering the cafeteria right after his comment. He raises his left hand and waves at you with a smile, succeeding in catching your attention.. “And look who’s coming to the party.”
From his cousin's excited tone, Omi has a pretty good guess on who he’s referring to, and he instinctively searches through the crow to check it out. It’s amazing how Omi’s semblance lights up when he sees you. The transformation is visible, and if he could, Motoya would totally take a picture of his cousin’s starstruck face right now.
“Hey guys!” You greet them as soon as you get closer, and your boyfriend immediately takes a chair from the closest table and arranges beside him for you to sit on. Motoya holds back a laugh, and you thank him with a kiss on the cheek. “Thank you, Omi.”
Hearts could come out of Sakusa’s eyes.
“You’re so beautiful today.” Is the first thing that comes out of his mouth, making you giggle in that sweet way that makes his heart flutter every single time.
“Okay lover, you can go back to eat, she won’t go anywhere.” His cousin cracks a joke, but the brunette doesn’t even pay attention to his words, choosing to focus on you instead.
The displays of affection don’t stop, and he doesn’t even notice how sappy (but sweet) he’s being with you. He holds your hand on top of the table, absently stroking your skin with his thumb and occasionally kissing the back of it; he nuzzles your head when you cuddle his arm, loving to smell the scent of your shampoo; he looks at you intently as you speak about your last class, paying attention to every word that comes out of your pretty mouth like it’s the most important speech he’s ever heard.
Motoya doesn’t know if he looks the other way in disgust, or if he just smiles, happy that his cousin has finally found someone special for him. Or if he takes some pictures of sweet Omi, which would be a good opportunity to make fun of him later.
“Okay guys, I’ll catch up with you later.” The blonde announces, figuring you’d better have your privacy; being the third wheel can be really tiring sometimes.“ Omi, see you at the warm-up. Enjoy your time together, lovebirds.” The blonde leaves, leaving the two of you more comfortable getting closer to each other. Omi kisses your cheek sweetly before caressing it with his palm.
“Will you watch the match today?” He questions, loving the idea of spotting your beautiful self in the middle of the game.
The question sounds a little strange to your ears, because you almost never lose his games. But you choose to answer regardless, caressing his scalp full of curly locks, to his delight. “Yes, of course I’ll be there.”
“Good.” A small smile of his grows with your touch. “I need my eye candy.”

Autistic Anime Boys Semifinals Match 1
Tumblr media
Propaganda:
L -
"You KNOW he had to be on this list. He's the icon, the legend. Hates shoes. Sits bisexually. Holds everything like it's on fire. King of remote work (responsible, probably predicted the pandemic ten years before it happened). Decided to handcuff himself to his #1 suspect for the most dangerous murderer in human history. There's some bonus material in one of the newer death note side-story collections that confirms he does not dress himself and bathes by being put into a washing machine. Can fly a helicopter. Special interest is knowing exactly where you live. You know who this man is."
Haru -
"His special interest is swimming. He ONLY swims one particular stroke. His safe food is mackerel, he eats so much of it, it's a running joke. He has almost no facial expression, its all very subtle. He looks like the autism creature 95% of the time. He follows the same routine every morning even if he's running late. This boy has soooo much fucking autism oh my god."

The King's Men - Chapter Fifteen (17)
Day: Friday, March 22nd / 23rd* Time: 9:58 PM EST
It is Kevin's turn to deal with the press, but he sends Neil a significant look on his way over to them. Neil has nothing to add since he'd been sidelined all night, but he steps closer in case Kevin needs to redirect anything his way. Kevin gives his best press-ready smile to the camera before motioning Andrew over. Andrew takes up post alongside Neil but doesn't look at the reporters. The interview starts off predictably with comments on the game and the impossible points Kevin had scored. Neil half-tunes it out until Kevin is asked about semifinals. The Bearcats are going home as the lowest-scoring team of this elimination round. In two weeks the Foxes will be taking on two of the Big Three. "I'm looking forward to playing USC again," Kevin says. "I haven't spoken to Jeremy or Coach Rhemann since I transferred but their team is always amazing. Their season was nearly flawless this year. There's a lot we can learn from them." "Still their biggest fan," the interviewer jokes. "You're up against Edgar Allan again, too, in the biggest rematch of the year. Thoughts?" "I don't want to talk about the Ravens anymore," Kevin says. "Ever since my mother died it's been Ravens this and Ravens that. I am not a Raven anymore. I never will be again. To be honest, I never should have been one in the first place. I should have gone to Coach Wymack the day I found out he was my father and asked to start my freshman year at Palmetto State." "The day—" She flounders, then says, "Did you say Coach Wymack is your father?" "Yes, I did. I found out when I was in high school," Kevin says, "but I didn't tell him because I thought I wanted to stay at Edgar Allan. Back then I thought the only way to be a champion was to be a Raven. I bought into their lies that they would make me the best player on the court. I shouldn't have believed it; I've been wearing this number long enough to know that wasn't what they wanted for me. "Everyone knows the Ravens are all about being the best. Best pair, best line-up, best team. They drill it into you day after day, make you believe it, make you forget that in the end 'best' means 'one'. They let you forget until other people buy into it, be it fans swaying too far the wrong way or the ERC calling them out on their schemes. Then they don't want to play that game anymore, and they skip straight to the elimination round. Did you know I've never been skiing? I'd like to try it one day, though." It is too much all at once for her to catch the significance of that last remark, but it will only take a couple moments. Neil understands right away, and the adrenaline that floods his veins makes him sway a little on his feet. He shoots Andrew a quick look. Andrew doesn't return it, but he is definitely paying attention. The stare he has trained on the back of Kevin's head is intense. Kevin doesn't wait for her to put two and two together. "Tell the Ravens to be ready for us, would you? We're already ready for them." Kevin turns and walks away.
Art used with permission by Reigzukes. Thank you @reigzukes!
*Due to the Leap Year, I have opted to highlight the day rather than the date to keep the events in occurrence to the 2007 year. I will continue to mark both days accordingly.

the curse of ATP Madrid 2024
remember toronto's chaos? yeah this one's crazier
(shoutout @rodlaveraryna for helping me find the toronto post when I totally lost it)
first of all, the World #1 Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from the tournament, making the fairly new #2 Jannik Sinner the top seed at a Masters 1000 for the first time.
In the first round, Félix Auger-Aliassime (who, keep in mind, took Nadal to five sets at Roland Garros) loses the first set to Nishioka. However, he comes back in the second and third sets to win the match 4-6 6-1 6-4. We'll be seeing a lot of him. In a Next Gen battle, young phenomenon João Fonseca loses the first set to the clay incompetent Alex Michelsen but proceeds to bagel him in the second set and then win the third with 4-6 6-0 6-2. Fabian Marozsan (of beating Alcaraz in Rome fame) saves eleven set points against Karatsev to win the first set and goes on to win the match 7-6 7-6. Moutet and Shang play an almost four hour match in which Moutet caused a massive delay by demanding the umpire give him coffee. And, most insane of all, teenager Darwin Blanch is drawn against Rafael Nadal for his second tour match ever. The scoreline is 6-1 6-0 (at least he got a game!)
Second round - here come the seeds. Jakub Menšík, yet another Next Gen wonder, upsets Dimitrov in three intense sets 6-2 6-7 6-3. Félix bagels known clay flop Mannarino. Fonseca loses quite brutally to Norrie. The ultimate clay hater himself, Daniil Medvedev, loses the first set to Matteo Arnaldi and looks absolutely done but comes back to win 2-6 6-4 6-4. Another known clay hater, Alexander Bublik, jokes his way through a win against Carballés Baena, who was so frustrated that he hit a serve directly at Bublik. Ben Shelton bagels Machac. Rafa manages to beat de Minaur, who he just lost to in Barcelona. Stefanos Tsitsipas, fresh off of two clay finals, is beaten by qualifier Monteiro 6-4 6-4.
In the third round, our top seed Jannik Sinner starts to show sign of discomfort, and his opponent Kotov is serving for the second set after Jannik won the first. Kotov has set point... and hits a questionable underarm serve that Jannik crushes down the line. Jannik goes on to break back and win the match 6-2 7-5. In the beginning of a long line of strange occurrences, Félix's opponent Menšik retires in the second set. Daniil loses the first set to Korda, yells at everyone, accuses the umpire of working for the Illuminati, but comes back to win the match 5-7 7-6 6-3. Bublik, the other resident clay hater, beats Ben Shelton 3-6 7-6 6-4, stetting up a match against who but Daniil. Holger Rune, who made two clay masters finals, loses to Griekspoor 6-4 4-6 6-3.
We start off the fourth round with another shaky Jannik match where he barely gets past Khachanov 5-7 6-3 6-3. At the exact same time - I kid you not, the exact same time - is a rematch of last year’s final. Carlos Alcaraz has match points over Struff at the very same minute as Jannik, but loses all three of them and extends the match another half hour or so, eventually winning it 6-3 6-7 7-6. Daniil comfortably wins the clay hater battle 7-6 6-4, and Bublik seems perfectly fine with it. In a strange occurrence of two varying levels of servebots on clay, Taylor Fritz beats Hurkacz 7-6 6-4 (including a very predictable tiebreak). Perhaps the strangest of all, Félix takes out Casper Ruud, the man who would marry clay if he could, 6-4 7-5.
And now to the quarterfinals. Think these matches have predictable outcomes? Wrong! Only Taylor manages to emerge as the favorite who wins, beating Cerundolo 6-1 3-6 6-3, an American servebot into clay masters semis. Meanwhile, Jannik withdraws entirely, giving Félix yet another walkover. In what may be the calmest match of his career, Andrey Rublev beats Carlos 4-6 6-3 6-2, ending his Madrid title streak. And, Daniil retires against Jiri Lehecka.
So, the semifinals no one expected. Andrey dispatches Fritz 6-4 6-3 after they traded breaks in the opening two games. And Félix receives yet another walkover when Lehecka retires a few games into the match. Yes, he received not one, not two, but three walkovers en route to the final.
In the end, though, Andrey wins it and claims a second masters title. So, that’s the end of the story, right? No, because in his interviews afterwards, Andrey reveals that he has been extremely sick for the entirety of the tournament and that he could barely sleep or eat. A bizarre yet fitting end to this strange tournament.

Ylfa Snorgelsson/Red Riding Hood (Dimension 20) "Forced to eat Death/the Big Bad Wolf to survive and absorbed his power (lycanthropy). She dies and is resurrected even more wolf-like, gets mentored by Death, and saves him from being destroyed. She sacrifices the memory of her grandmother—her last tether to humanity—to take up the mantle of the Big Bad Wolf (literally—she’s wearing his skin as a cloak now) and become Death. In doing so, she has a vision of killing her grandmother’s grandmother just as the Big Bad Wolf killed her--but not her, because it wasn’t her time. At the end of the campaign, she divides her human self from her wolf self—the little girl stays behind to have a mortal life, while the other half of Ylfa truly and finally embraces Death. Her story is about her grappling with the horror and grief of loss and death, culminating in her metaphorical death to become “the end of all stories”. Her grandmother was eaten, but “I met Death and Death wants me to live.”"
The Amazing Karnak (Ride the Cyclone) "Karnak is a novelty machine, clearly with sentience, that can predict the exact time and place of somebody's death. He himself was shut down, but successfully predicted the deaths of the St. Cassian Chamber Choir before they died in a rollercoaster accident. Karnak seems to have a limited sort of control over human mortality, as he has the ability to bring people back from the dead, but he himself seems to be trapped in an eternal purgatory, not quite active, not quite defunct. He knows of his own death, of his own mortality, and it doesn't bother him. Despite not being human, he represents human mortality in a strange, awfully comedic way."
Grimora (Inscryption) "Her whole gimmick is inscrybing the dead: skeletons, zombies, ghosts, and souls all have a place in her deck. Her cards are played with the cost of bone tokens (gained from the death of one of the player’s cards), and, in her boss fight, her cards don’t tend to stay dead for long (nor do the player’s, as she takes to killing every card the challenger has in play and returning only their corpses). However, what makes her end-adjacent rather than a defier of the end is her commitment to the cycle of death and what it brings—so much so that she’s willing, immortal as she is, to succumb to her own realm and drag the others along with her. She disguises it as a means to end the Scrybes’ ceaseless quarrel and to kill what lies on the disk, but ultimately she, too, fears death, but knows that everything must one day die all the same (so what if she has to exacerbate the process—she has been very patient for the rest of the game, and the Scrybes have long, LONG outlived the lives of anyone real who would care to remember them)."

Raising Stripe
Chapter 25
After a while of reminiscence, Laura and Tweek decided it was time to start preparing a light dinner for the family. Laura had already done prep work on tomorrow's big dinner and was glad to have her son-in-law in the kitchen helping her. She didn't trust her husband and son in the kitchen so they were left in the living room to watch Stripe.
Craig and Thomas turned on the living room TV and kept an eye on Stripe as he played with his walker. They were enthralled in the baseball game as their team was competing in the semifinals. The team had a good chance as the score was currently in their favor.
Stripe was thrilled with his new toy. He learned to move the beads through the loop d'loop and really enjoyed the squeaky button. As he kicked his feet, he suddenly became aware of the fact his feet touched the floor. With a solid push against the floor he realized he could move his walker. This new trick elevated his excitement and he worked on mastering his newfound skill.
The score in the game began to shift and Thomas became agitated. “That is ridiculous, that ball was clearly a foul, not a home run. LAURA! Get me a beer!”
Laura, annoyed, came out of the kitchen holding a box of raisins. “Now you know very well the doctor said you can't drink with your medication.”
“It's the team's fault! Their incompetence is making me crave a beer!” Thomas argued.
Laura rolled her eyes and slammed the box of raisins on the coffee table. “Instead of a beer, here, eat these. The doctor said you needed more fiber.”
Thomas ignored the box and continued to cheer his team with Craig as they scored a home run. Craig pulled out his phone to type a message to Clyde to remind him of the bet they had on this game.
Stripe was starting to understand how to move the walker. He was feeling proud of himself when he heard his Nana arguing with Grandpa. He watched as his Dada took some shriveled treats from the box and tossed them in his mouth. Stripe wanted pellets too!
Stripe used his new trick to quickly approach the table, luckily Nana left the box close to the edge of the table. Before anyone noticed, he reached into the box and pulled out three of the the treats.These pellets were different from the ones his Dada used to feed him as a guinea pig. They were sticky and smelled fruity. He shoved them into his mouth and began to chew.
Craig was surprised when he finally noticed Stripe and his new walker. He figured Stripe would quickly figure out how to move but didn't realize how silent he could move. Suddenly Stripe began to cough, or at least tried to. Craig jumped to his feet in horror as he realized the situation.
“STRIPE!”
Craig pulled the baby out of the walker in panic. Stripe's face was changing colors as he weakly tried to expel the obstruction in his throat. Craig was at a loss for what to do when someone pulled the baby out of his hands.
Tweek immediately placed the baby chest down on one arm. He delivered hard slaps on Stripe's back forcefully trying to dislodge whatever he was choking on. Finally a dark piece fell out of the baby's mouth and he let out a loud cry.
All the adults in the room felt relief at the sound. Tweek collapsed to his knees clinging to his baby. Thomas was the first to inspect the dark piece and revealed everyone the cause of their anguish: a single raisin. To everyone's shock, Craig turned and ran out the back door.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thomas stepped into his backyard looking for his son. Thomas was familiar with Craig's habit of hiding and avoiding his problems. It didn't surprise him as it was the Tucker family's way to avoid complicated emotions. When a Tucker runs away, it usually takes another Tucker to reel them back from their nonsense.
Just as he predicted, Thomas found Craig behind the shed sipping from a beer bottle. He silently sat next to him on a bench. Craig pretended to ignore him and Thomas followed his lead. As he expected, Craig broke the silence. ”I’m so stupid!”
Thomas didn't say anything. He needed to let Craig vent before he decided to clam up or bottle up his stress. He simply prepared himself to listen.
“He was right in front of me a-and I did nothing to stop him! When h-he started to choke I didn't do anything! He was depending on ME! And all I did was watch! I'm a FAILURE! I-I failed him.” Craig said as he tossed the bottle and broke down.
Thomas, breaking from the Tucker norm, pulled his son into a hug. It wasn't usual for members of the family to show such strong emotions but the events of that day had greatly shaken them. When Craig seemed to calm down Thomas decided it was his turn to speak up.
“Listen Craig. What happened today was an accident. Your mother and I played a bigger role in leaving those raisins on the table. YOU didn't fail him! He is safe right now, probably worried about what he's going to try to eat next. Babies are a handful and you and Tweek have done a great job of keeping him safe and loved. Don't sell yourself short.”
Craig shook his head, “No Dad. It was my job to keep an eye on him and I got distracted.” Craig argued.
“Son, every parent makes mistakes. You and your sister had your fair share of accidents growing up. Do you remember your first baseball lesson? Thomas asked with a chuckle.
“No.” Craig said, confused.
“I didn't hope so. You were pretty young. I used a real baseball and accidentally hit you in the face. You were knocked out and Laura was convinced you were going to have brain damage. But lucky for us you were always a hard headed kid.” Thomas said with mirth.
Craig flipped his father off but was fighting to hide his smile. Thomas was pleased that his speech had his desired outcome. He continued to nail in his point. “Craig, you are a great father. Human or guinea pig, Stripe adores you. As soon as you ran out, he started calling out to you. Now get that guilty look off your face. I'm not calling you out for that. I want you to know that regardless of any mistakes, you are doing something right to earn the title of Dad.”
Craig had tears in his eyes as he pulled his father into a tight embrace. “Thanks Dad. You're pretty great, too.”
Thomas swelled with pride, but he shook off any signs of teary eyes. He clapped his son's shoulder and pointed his thumb towards the house. “Now fix your face and get in there. Your kid's looking for you.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As soon as Craig walked into the house, Tweek appeared holding Stripe. Craig could see silent concern in his husband's eyes and quickly reassured him with a kiss on the cheek. This seemed to satisfy him for the time and they would discuss the problem later because at that moment Stripe was demanding Craig's attention.
“DADA!” Stripe shouted holding out his arms asking to be held. Craig accepted the infant from Tweek and held him tightly to his chest reassuring himself that Stripe was breathing normally.
“Hi baby. You scared me.” Craig gently confessed. He reached out and held Tweek's hand feeling comfortable in the presence of his family. “Mama and Dada love you sooo much.”

I know theres still like 3 hours left, but my heart breaks for poor Rue...
The results are in and it seems Rue couldn't escape her fate !
I feel you because The Hunger Games was the last media still in the competition I knew quite well (I loved the 2 first books and discussed them extensively with a friend but I wasn't really in the fandom in the aftermath)
However I didn't think Rue would get this far and if I remember well, the semifinal matches we're getting are the ones I predicted at the very start when I did seed the bracket so I'm quite happy about that since it means my seeding was rather coherent. Congrats to our 4 semifinalists !
Anyway, I'm putting the polls up tomorrow and hope you'll enjoy them !

Here’s my thoughts on the knockout stages even though no one asked
So, I haven’t seen anyone else point this out, and honestly it’s a dream and I don’t think it’s likely to happen…
The teams from the Americas have the opportunity to turn the Olympics into total chaos and the Gold Cup 2.0.
Do I really see all four teams from the Americas winning? No. But anything can happen. And I think Colombia will probably frustrate Spain. France also hasn’t looked as solid as I thought they would, but Brazil has been underwhelming (why the fuck didn’t they bring Debinha?). But I do ultimately figure Spain and France will go through. Canada and Germany honestly is a toss up. Canada has a fire lit under them to try and redeem themselves and Germany’s defense has been ehhh this tournament.
I think, the way everyone’s been playing, we’ll see a Spain/France semifinal and USA/Canada semi with ultimately Spain/USA final. Do I have a prediction on who gets the gold? No. Spain, obviously, is the favorite but I do wonder when the fatigue is going to hit. Thats the biggest reason, in my opinion, why no team has ever won the World Cup and the Olympics the following year. But on top of the World Cup, the season for most of the rest of the world started not long after, factor in them playing their entire season and Euro qualifiers and that tournament thing they had with it (I’ve honestly forgotten what it was called), I think we’re starting to see that fatigue. But no team ever winning the World Cup and the following Olympics is history lesson number one (if any team can do it, I think it’s this Spain team). History lesson number two is that the USWNT has never gone a major tournament cycle without winning either the World Cup or the Olympics. Do I expect this to forever and always be true? No. But I definitely think that this USA team is hungry for a medal to prove themselves and I think they’ve shown that in the group stage.

Semifinals
Out of the 32 original teams, only four teams are left, split into two semifinals: Spain v. Sweden, and Australia v. England. This is the culmination of three weeks of joy, passion, and heartbreak…and some really good soccer. These teams have all found their grooves, their momentum, and there is so much on the line now that everyone will be giving it their all. At this point, I don’t know what else I can say about these teams, but I went back through each team’s journey so far to look at the results so far in the tournament.
Spain, FIFA ranked 7
Won 3-0 over Costa Rica
Won 5-0 over Zambia
Lost 4-0 to Japan
Won 5-1 over Switzerland
Won 2-1 over Netherlands
Sweden, FIFA ranked 3
Won 2-1 over South Africa
Won 5-0 over Italy
Won 2-0 over Argentina
Won in penalties over USA
Won 2-1 over Japan
Australia, FIFA ranked 10
Won 1-0 over Republic of Ireland
Lost 3-2 to Nigeria
Won 4-0 over Australia
Won 2-0 over Denmark
Won in penalties over France
England, FIFA ranked 4
Won 1-0 over Haiti
Won 1-0 over Denmark
Won 6-1 over China
Won in penalties over Nigeria
Won 2-1 over Colombia
I think that both games could go either way, and it would be arrogant and stupid on my part to try and predict anything from here on out. It is a guarantee that we will have a brand-new champion; none of these teams have won a world cup before. England and Sweden have gotten to the semifinals and won medals before, but Spain and Australia are at this point for the first time in program history.
One thing that most people won’t know is that the players on these teams have all played together on club teams, becoming friends, and even dating. England’s Lucy Bronze and Keira Walsh play in Barcelona with nine of Spain’s players, and Sweden’s Fridolina Rolfo. Australia’s Steph Catley and Caitlin Foord play for Arsenal with England’s Lotte Wubben-Moy, while Australia’s Sam Kerr plays for Chelsea with four players from England, and three players from Sweden. No matter which teams go through, players will witness their friends and colleagues triumphs and losses–a bittersweet end to a world cup that has been full of rich, new, powerful experiences.

The King's Men - Chapter Fourteen (16)
Day: Tuesday, March 12th / 13th* Time: 4:55 PM EST
Neil would have stalled, but Andrew grows tired of waiting on him. He motions for Neil to follow and leaves in search of Kevin. Neil swallows a sigh and goes after him. He braces for his teammates' reactions when he steps into the kitchen with all his injuries bared. Nicky flinches and looks away, whereas Aaron surveys the damage with keen interest. Dan opens her mouth but catches herself in the nick of time. Matt goes from shock to anger in a nanosecond, and Allison averts her gaze as quickly as she can. Renee watches her friends with a smile on her lips and a calm stare, ready to intervene if one of them breaks their word. Kevin is the first and only to do so, and his reaction is predictable. "Can you play?" "Yes," Neil says, before anyone can tear into Kevin. "It's going to hurt, and if the Bearcats get too rough next week I'll have some problems, but I still have my grip." He makes a fist at Kevin as proof and carefully does not wince at the tearing feeling along his knuckles. "I'll just be extra careful." "Absolutely not," Dan says. "You're not playing. You think Coach will let you on the court when you look like that? I'll sub in for you, Neil. Renee can help Allison out one more time, right?" She looks to Renee long enough to see Renee's nod. "Trust us to hold the line. You focus on healing so we can use you in semifinals." Neil's first instinct is to argue and to call unfair, to say he hadn't survived his father and Lola's abuse just to sit out, to protest that they need all the help he can get. Then he looks down at his arms and takes a realistic assessment of his chances. It is disappointing to know she is right, but somehow it is still okay. "I trust you," he says. "Thank you."
Art used with permission by Karasawr. Thank you @karasawr!
*Due to the Leap Year, I have opted to highlight the day rather than the date to keep the events in occurrence to the 2007 year. I will continue to mark both days accordingly.

we made it!! us open draw thoughts:
wta:
iga actually has a very manageable looking draw. there’s really no one on her side of the quarter that I could see troubling her. possibly mirra, but iga just beat her in that incredible match in cincy and I don’t think mirra is quite there yet. in the quarterfinal is probably jess (potentially danielle) who is cursed in slam quarterfinals. jess is also completely wiped from all the tennis she’s been playing and I’m not sure if she’ll have enough energy to beat iga. that being said, jess had beaten her before and it’s definitely possible, especially with the home crowd advantage. also, emma raducanu is in this quarter so that’s definitely something to watch out for!
I’d call this elena’s quarter, but I don’t even know if elena is playing. I’m genuinely concerned for her, her health struggles have gotten so much worse since wimbledon and she’s just in really poor form. if she really is down and out, I could see kalinskaya or garcia taking her quarterfinal spot. honestly though, that side of the quarter is nothing compared to the other side. we’ve got: naomi, penko, karo, leylah, yulia, linda, bianca, and jasmine. all in one half of a quarter! the best matches of the tournament are most definitely gonna be produced from here, and I really can’t predict who of this group is gonna make the quarterfinals. this is the quarter to watch out for and depending on who makes it out, they could challenge iga in the semis
coco’s quarter is also pretty stacked, but almost deceptively so. one side has maria and barbora, but both of them are SO inconsistent and could very easily lose early. paula and vika are also on that side and could make good runs, but you never know when paula is gonna have injury concerns. on coco’s side, emma navarro and marta could make things really difficult for her, but navarro is still in monterrey and marta is marta, she could implode at any time. and then there’s coco herself. obviously she’s the defending champion but she’s had some really shaky results coming into this. if she gets back into that determined, winning ugly mentality from last year she can totally make it through this but if the forehand and serve just aren’t working, she’s gonna have a tough time even getting out of the quarter
and finally, who I think is the favorite for the tournament, aryna. this is the best draw she could have asked for. her projected quarterfinalist is qinwen who she had destroyed in every match they played. everyone in her quarter is someone she can handily beat… except madi keys. everyone remembers that insane semifinal from last year when aryna got bageled and still won it. I think if they do play, that will definitely embolden her but madi is not to be messed with, especially at the us open. all that said, I think aryna has a good path to the semis and I would heavily favor her if she plays coco
interesting r1 matches: andreeva/osorio, raducanu/kenin, ostapenko/osaka, muchova/volynets, putintseva/noskova, andreescu/paolini, zheng/anisimova, keys/siniakova, kudermetova/jabeur
atp:
so far, jannik’s slam draws as the top seed have been absolutely brutal. tommy paul in the fourth round at the us open is rough, and the other side of the quarter is, well, daniil and stefanos. this should be a difficult draw, but both of them are barely even winning matches right now. daniil did just beat jannik at wimbledon, but he lost in the first round of canada and cincy, and stefanos barely did better. and if they played each other, I have a feeling it would be a very long five setter. honestly, I could see felix making a run here, maybe even to the quarterfinals. jannik is for sure still the favorite to get to the semis, and this quarter could implode on itself to help him. if daniil loses early, his biggest threat is tommy paul
carlos, on the other hand, got not one but two injured top seeds on the opposite side of his quarter (hubi and alex). he’s got jack and korda in his section, but neither of them hold up very well in best of five. the match to decide his r2 opponent is bvdz vs shapo. he really couldn’t have asked for a better draw here, though I’m sure he’ll find a way to fit a few epic five setters in there. hubi is definitely still injured, but I’m honestly not sure about alex’s form. if he’s healthy, he can definitely make the quarterfinals, but if not, that other quarterfinal spot is so open. matteo arnaldi, maybe? whatever it is, I’d be shocked if carlos doesn’t make the semis
this third quarter is going to be insane. the taylor-casper side could have an epic fourth round match between the two of them… or they could both lose in the second round. either way, I wouldn’t be surprised. on the other half, holger has been picking up some great form lately and maybe this time it will be enough to beat zverev. he came so close at rg and I think he definitely does have a chance, but unfortunately zverev is the favorite in that matchup. there’s also just a lot of people in this quarter who could potentially cause upsets and make deep runs: gael, bublik, matteo berrettini, lorenzo musetti, gmp. this quarter feels hardest to predict
and finally. this quarter. the grigor/rublev half seems like it’ll be pretty straightforward with maybe jiri causing an upset. with the projected fourth round, I’d say both have an equal chance. but the other half of this quarter is literally just last year’s us open but condensed. there’s a potential rematch between ben and frances in the third round and yes, the winner of that would play novak. I’m honestly not sure how to predict novak here, he looked to be back in his 2023 form during the olympic final but he’s been playing way below that for the rest of the year and hasn’t played a tournament leading up to this. I’m not saying he’ll get upset, but there’s definitely a chance of it and it’s for sure not gonna be easy for him
interesting r1 matches: tsitsipas/kokkinakis, mensik/auger-aliassime, zhang/draper, de minaur/giron, mpetshi perricard/etcheverry, shelton/thiem

HALFTIME SEXYMAN REPORT
ROUND ONE IS OVER AND THE RESULTS ARE IN!
Tumblr media
The bottom seeded three-way matchup between Flashbang, Kevin Norton, and Gregor the Snail has ended in a decisive victory for Gregor the Snail. With his sultry looks and unconventional underdog status, Gregor has captured the hearts and twisted imaginations of the wormblrinas. Though his odds going into round two against Sexyman Favorite Jack Slash are exceedingly low, Gregor stans should remain hopeful. There's plenty of him (and his slime) to go around.
In an outcome that's sure to please the serial killer flower crown edit side of tumblr, Jack Slash has handily defeated Eidolon. Fans of sopping wet meow meows, Harry Du Bois, male pattern baldness, and @datmoongamer were heartbroken at these results, though not entirely unsurprised. Minority voters of this massacre of a match are advised to seek refuge with the Danny Contingent. Should they organize well enough, they might just be able to make it out of the upcoming DILF bracket alive.
The dubiously moral "heroes" conference was fraught with sexual tension, thanks to canonical gay representation and some… particular artistic choices from @heyitschartic. Armsmaster came out on top 😏 of Legend, but if he wants to advance to the semifinals, this tinker techbro is gonna need more sponsorship than a Larry David cryptocurrency Super Bowl commercial.
One of the most surprising games of the weekend saw wormblr-favorite Accord struggling to maintain an edge over Lung’s smoking-hot physique. After a sloppy first quarter, Accord managed to pull ahead and secure a win. But with his confidence shaken going into round two, Accord might not be a shoe-in for finals as predicted. Can he get himself together and stick to his numerous game plans? Or could we anticipate an upset?
The closest match of the night was in bracket five, where Danny Hebert beat out Crawler by a slim 2% margin. Artists both rejoiced and despaired at the fact that Crawler would not need to be drawn in any further rounds. Fans of Crawler take heart; though he may have lost early in wormblr’s 2023 sexyman tournament, us commentators suspect this won’t be the last we see of this monsterfucker-friendly face. Some athletes are growers, not showers.
The bishi showdown between Marquis and Mr. Gladly ended in a definitive and widely predicted win by Marquis. It seems that voters who are hot for teacher just couldn’t face the raw sexual charisma of Amy Dallon's father. Inside sources at the Birdcage have told us that Marquis is also pursuing a career in modeling, so stay tuned for next year's cellblock leader calendar, where he'll be starring as Mr. May AND October!
Trickster made excellent use of his top hat and gamer knowledge, defeating a colorfully costumed Nilbog in bracket seven. But unless he can pull a new trick out of that hat, our analysts aren't too optimistic at his chance of advancing into the semifinals.
Last but certainly not least was the Thinker Off between Coil and Number Man. Thanks to an aggressive pre-season campaign from @cpericardium and subliminal bulge messaging, Number Man golden ratio'd his way to 79%, leaving the remaining 21% of voters (sexually) confused at Coil's cake.

Ironborn Character Bracket
Tumblr media
Welcome to the Ironborn Character Bracket where your ironborn faves face off against each other and you get to vote to pick the winner!
Quick FAQ under the Read More
How will this work?
Characters will face off against each other in a poll in pairs as shown in the bracket above. The winner of each pair will progress to the next round, until there is a final winner. Basically, like a regular single-elimination bracket. Voting will start on September 22, 2023 and each poll will run for one week. Once all round of 16 polls close, the quarter final polls will open within 24 hours and each of those will also run for one week. Rinse and repeat for the semifinal and final rounds. We encourage you to follow the blog to not miss any new polls!
Where are Theon and Asha?
We decided to leave them out for the sake of making this a little more interesting/exciting and less predictable. Let’s see who else y’all stan ❤
Only 16 contestants? Such a small bracket!
Yes, unfortunately there are not a lot of significant ironbron characters. We wanted a bracket that would break down nicely and evenly. So for one more round we’d need to go up to 32 characters, and while we could find 32 named ironborn characters, at some point it becomes a little arbitrary which name-only/single mention characters would be picked vs. not picked. We’re sorry if we’ve excluded your minor fave! Feel free to tell us who they are in an ask so we can take that into consideration next time.
Can I send in propaganda and such?
We won’t be posting propaganda under the polls, BUT feel free to send asks with propaganda, comments, thoughts, whatever, and we’ll publish them here for everyone to see!
