Seanzlo IF IT WERE canon : Game-changer for queer representation in media

3 years I've been trying to explain why a kiss between Laszlo and Sean would be a revolutionary moment on TV, and I finally DO NOT have the opportunity...

I wrote this draft, I'm making it useful by posting it anyway, idgaf, seanzlo is canon in my heart, that's all that matters

If you're too lazy to read this long post, in a nutshell it's revolutionary because Sean was never written "to be gay", he was designed first and foremost to be a secondary funny character.

Since his sexuality was never brought up on screen, it was the fluid development of his relationship with Laszlo that gave rise to one of the most beautiful births of romance between two men on TV.

now let's move on to my insane long rambling :

The beauty of this relationship, whether viewed through a platonic or romantic lens, is the trust they place in each other (which verges on blindness at times)

And as the seasons go by, we see just how ready they are to ignore all reason, to please the other :

At first it started simply with Sean confiding in Laszlo about the pillows mess, and Laszlo promising to fix the problem.

Then it's Sean unquestioningly lending Laszlo his bank card, and Laszlo making good on his promise to pay him back as soon as possible because he felt like a "cheap thief."

Later you have Sean proposing that Colin should go to the same school where he went, Laszlo accepts without even thinking twice.

In the final ep of season 4 you have Sean saying "You can trust Seanie" and inciting his best friend to hit his kid to settle a dispute, and guess what, Laszlo was willing to do it.

In season 5, Laszlo works hard to prepare the perfect parade for his friend. And in this final season, Laszlo helps brain-dead Sean as best he can, setting up a fake work environment JUST to boost the other man's confidence.

Laszlo reproaching Charmaine for not worrying enough when the man was presumably possessed :

"You cannot abandon Sean in his hour of need."

Let's not even talk about the hospital scenes, Laszlo staying by his side the whole time, hand on his wrist, Sean doing his death speech to LAZ, not even his wife.

Repeated many times in the show, they are the best friends they have ever had in their entire (after)lives.

As explained so well in this old post I made :

Sometimes I remember how Sean is the only human Laszlo has managed to bond with in 300 years, how Sean would be willing to die for Laszlo, how Laszlo is completely devoted to his best friend, how Sean lent his bank card without asking for an explanation, how Laszlo felt pitiful at the thought of being a 'cheap thief', how Laszlo became a lawyer just to get his friend out of trouble, how Sean trusts his best friend more than his own wife, how Laszlo who used to hate the human probably because he reminded him of his own human life is now willing to do anything to include him in as many activities as possible, even inviting him to Nandor's wedding reserved only for vampires, how Sean wants to kiss Laszlo, how Laszlo initiates physical contact at every turn, how...

Not only their relationships evolved mentally, moving from : "She (Charmaine) ought to strangle you to death with your own sphincter muscle." to "Sean is my best friend. He means everything to me."

But also physically, where Sean has allowed Laszlo to challenge his vital space over the seasons :

s1 : no contact

s2 : contact as a courtesy, Laszlo agrees to let Sean hold on to him like a lifeline as the two men prepare to fly in the sky

s3 : Laszlo gets a little too close to Sean to initiate a kiss, Sean immediately backs away, defensive, explains that he's "not like that."

s4 : Sean accepts Laszlo's hand up his thigh

s5 : Laszlo puts his right hand on Sean's face, touching his skin under the sun; in the official Pride Parade script, he's even supposed to shush Sean, fingers on his lips.

s6 : Laszlo's hand on Sean's pulse, Sean makes his declaration with his hand in front of Laszlo's heart.

Before we finally got to the NON confirmation between the two men, the problem was the statue of seanzlo was much more vague, the relationship between them is above all a friendship, a beautiful friendship, such a beautiful friendship that I think transcends and is deeper than that.

I'd even use the word soulmate.

On the other hand, from an objective point of view, all the interactions they had were above all humorous.

But fortunately for us (me) the writers have decided to NOT take a path, never seen on TV before :

Creating one of the most interesting and iconic queer TV character ever.

I never wanted Sean to be gay just to be gay, I just knew that it could have such a considerable impact, because he wasn't designed to be an out-and-out homosexual character, his bisexuality being played as a joke.

Seanzlo is pure and sincere in the sense that it has developed naturally over the course of the show.

A cliché (a jock and a goth) well executed !

The complete spectrum of the audience watching wwdits loves Seanie. But imagine, you're a 50-year-old man, let's say a typical redditor fan of the show, who sees Sean admit on screen that even though he loves Charmaine with all his heart, it's undeniable that he also feels something for his best friend. This doesn't make him any less of a man, it doesn't make him any less funny, it makes him complete. For Sean is able to see beyond.

He is one of the first character with whom men suffering from internalized homophobia can identify.

Sean loves what he loves, he loves a mid movie saga, he loves his wife deeply, but he also loves his best friend !

If you know my account, you know that this post is a mix of several posts I've created in the past and I'm happy to be able to sum up my love for this ship in one big post.

ok so I’m not really sure if this post is going to make sense but I’ve been thinking about this re: the diddy case which went viral a bit ago. If you don’t know what it is, basically diddy is a rapper who has charges of sexual assault, rape; all the things you would expect. it becoming a meme instead of people actually offering sympathy for the women who suffered is a whole other thing, but right now I want to focus on Beyoncé. when the whole thing blew up, people started searching for connections to any other celebrity, and they found that her husband (jay z) was connected to diddy, as was Beyoncé. suddenly, the internet isn’t even focusing on diddy anymore, and is instead obsessed with these baseless claims of Beyoncé killing people with diddy. People seriously believed that. They also made up things like Beyoncé would threaten people, people were scared they would die if she didn’t win an award etc. Suddenly this was all they wanted to talk about…some crazy theories they made up about a woman who’s barely connected to the case instead of the actual man who’s proven to be an abuser. Point is, I find it very interesting that the woman becomes the focus and the evil one, that everyone is so quick to believe the crazy shit they make up about her, and so quick to try to use it to discredit her accomplishments. Very interesting.

Love how obvious it is that Sean used tommys new vlog as a way to test the waters on if they had a shot or not and cover the tracks with 'jokes' and platonic insulting. Hes got the gears turning in his gay little head on if he can make a move or not, this is his risk free run and its not even subtle at all. Plus same vlog confirmed past septiplier like no big at all. Short and gay Irish man shoots his shot

Oh, for sure! You gotta test it out first to see how your crush might react. Jack's definitely the type to flirt in a way he can play off as a joke if he needs to (Tommy as well.) I love the idea of them both doing this and neither realizing the other is doing the exact same thing.
