Shruti Rajkumar at HuffPost:
Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance again described women who prioritize their careers as “miserable,” and slammed Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) for her “ingratitude” as a Somali immigrant, on a right-wing podcast in 2021.
Vance made the comments, which were first reported on by The Guardian and Media Matters for America, on a newly resurfaced episode of a podcast produced by American Moment, a partner of the group behind the far-right policy plan known as Project 2025. Asked why he viewed elite institutions like Yale University as “corrupt,” Vance reiterated his feelings about women who don’t have kids. “You have women who think that truly, the liberationist path is to spend 90 hours a week working in a cubicle at McKinsey, instead of starting a family and having children,” he said. He continued: “What they don’t realize — and I think some of them do eventually realize that, thank God — is that that is actually a path to misery. And the path to happiness and to fulfillment is something that these institutions are telling people not to do.” When a host asked him where “gender and racial resentment” comes from, Vance adopted the perspective of a hypothetical progressive.
“Clearly, this value set has made me a miserable person, who can’t have kids because I already passed the biological period when it was possible,” Vance said. “And I live in a 1,200 sq ft apartment in New York and I pay $5,000 a month for it. But I’m really better than these other people. What I’m going to do is project my racial and gender sensitivities on the rest of them.” Vance also took the opportunity to take a dig at Omar while speaking about migrants, saying that the Minnesota Democrat has shown “a complete lack of gratitude” towards the U.S. and that she would be in a “craphole” if she hadn’t moved to this country.
More gross and crass sexist comments from Ohio Senator and Trump VP nominee JD Vance.

Sorry this is a very very very routine and basic question but my cricket need won't stop bugging me so....
Who's your favorite player and also your fav Era of cricket?
hey, this isn't a basic question dw but my answer definitely would be very basic and my inbox is always open to ask questions so it's fine!! Also do you go by any name here??
I didn't actively watch cricket until the recent years, was a kiddo to watch India win the cup in '11 and I feel shit for having had no knowledge of it then (kyuki ab pata nahi trophy wapis kab aayegi 🤧) so my favourite era is mostly the era of Fab 4, significant events being 2015 and 2019 wc. I have grown up watching them play and have no memory of watching the legends play, so there's that- not much to choose from tbh
23wc was also very very prominent, cuz like we won everything and i remember watching every match no matter who was playing for that entire month or so. It was a fun time, since a lot of players were playing their last odi wc and it might me the last season for ict with these players. The last defeat also makes it unforgettable ngl.
Favourite cricketer? that has to be Kane and Kohli, for some reason that I cannot fathom, i always liked the NZ team (don't come for me please 🙏🏻) someone more veteran has to be Saurabh Ganguly (Dada would always be iconic)
#indian cricket team#cricket#desiblr#asks#im thinking how Pat Cummins to Rohit Sharma is what Ricky Ponting was to Saurabh Ganguly

Review of ‘Haddi’: Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Anurag Kashyap Starrer Tries Marrying Masala-Myths and Artistry-Mastery and Results are Mixed
It is no less than remarkable that within this ‘good-went-evil-to avenge’ formulae, bone smuggling, highway crimes, double crosses and political maneuvering marry to the plot with ease. All these could have led to a chaos but, with immense help from actors and some good staged moments, all these lead to final duel which is a fitting conclusion. That pre-climax to climax stretch justifies…

LUCKNOW, India (Reuters) -At least 35 people were killed and 16 were injured after the roof of a stepwell in a temple complex collapsed in central India, a local government official said on Friday.
The incident occurred in the central Indian city of Indore after a concrete slab covering the roof of a stepwell in a temple complex collapsed, crushing devotees who had gathered to celebrate the Hindu festival of Ram Navami on Thursday, officials said.
Stepwells are a common feature across India, built hundreds of years ago, many of them ornately decorated, with access to a body of water through stairs and niches.
"The stepwell was covered, but the slab covering it collapsed because of the crowd and extra load on it," Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the central Indian state where Indore is located, told reporters late on Thursday.
At least 75 army and rescue personnel worked through the day to remove debris, using ropes and ladders to pull out people who had fallen into the well, local media reported.
"We have rescued 18 people, 35 have been found dead and 16 are injured," Ilayaraja T, a top local government official, told Reuters.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences and announced compensation for the dead and injured in the incident.

[ad_1] Ravichandran Ashwin with Ravindra Jadeja after a wicket (PC: BCCI/X) Rohit Sharma was in denial at the post-match press conference, after India’s humiliating home series loss against New Zealand. The Ravichandran Ashwin-Ravindra Jadeja question was duly asked, and the India captain stonewalled on the spin duo. “There’s too much expectation on those two guys,” said Rohit. “Every game they play, they are expected to take wickets, they are expected to run through the opponents and they are expected to win Test matches for us. I don’t think that’s fair. It’s the responsibility of all of us to make sure we get the Test match wins, not just the two guys.” Of course, the skipper was never going to throw his two senior teammates under the bus, but deep down, the team management knows how Ashwin and Jadeja have struggled against the New Zealand batsmen in the ongoing series. Collectively, the two spinners have taken just 12 wickets and leaked runs. In spin-friendly Pune, they were out-bowled by Mitchell Santner and even by their junior teammate, Washington Sundar. Yes, Rohit’s defensive captaincy, especially in the first session of the second Test in Pune, didn’t help the spinners. But the way they struggled to contain Rachin Ravindra & Co was a serious matter of concern. New Zealand came here with a clear plan. They attacked the Indian tweakers, never allowing them to settle into a rhythm. They weren’t afraid of going over the top. But given Ashwin and Jadeja’s experience and skill set, they were expected to come up with a counter-ploy. Ashwin searched for the right length and right pace, while Jadeja’s control deserted him. He also struggled to get the zip off the wicket, something he is known for. The series defeat against New Zealand ended India’s astounding streak of 18 consecutive home series wins. They were unbeaten at home for 12 years, and Ashwin and Jadeja were central to that golden run. Since forming a deadly spin partnership in 2012, Ashwin has taken 326 wickets in 55 home Tests, while Jadeja has accounted for 225 scalps in 47 matches. But the off-spinner from Tamil Nadu is 38, while the left-arm spinner from Saurashtra will turn 36 in a month. Father Time spares no one and they are gradually entering the twilight zone. The question is, who next? Indian cricket has a like-for-like replacement for Jadeja in Axar Patel. Also, some other left-arm spinners like Manav Suthar and Saurabh Kumar are doing well in domestic cricket. But there’s no off-spinner in sight who can be a readymade replacement for Ashwin. Washington ran through New Zealand batting on Pune turner, but by his own admission, he is a specialist batsman who bowls off-spin. And not only the spin department, India’s Test cupboard looks bare, with transition on the anvil. As far as batting is concerned, the team is going to Australia for a five-Test series with two walking wickets (on form), a fair-weather batsman who mostly scores runs in second innings, a middle-order batsman who has kept consistency at arm’s length and a callow youngster whose technique might come under the scanner on fast and bouncy Australian pitches. The selectors have discarded CheteshwarPujara and Ajinkya Rahane because they are on the wrong side of thirty and without millions of followers on social media. As for the next generation, except Yashasvi Jaiswal, very few inspire confidence. Moving to fast bowling, and in Mohammed Shami’s absence, Jasprit Bumrah lacks a world-class new-ball partner, which might hurt India in Australia. Coming back to Ashwin and Jadeja, both have been picked for the tour Down Under. Can they regain their mojo? Some high-profile careers ended in Australia in 2011-12. The upcoming tour could see a repeat. Also read: After New Zealand’s stunning series victory, India’s path to the World Test Championship final at Lord’s has become steeper. Eric Hananoki at MMFA:
In 2021, JD Vance, the former CNN commentator and Ohio senator who is now Donald Trump’s running mate, had a message for many journalists: You are “miserable and unhappy” because your biological clock has run out and you can’t start a family. Vance appeared on the podcast of a group that is now allied with Project 2025 and discussed problems with journalism by stating that “one of the weird lies the elites have been told is that it's very easy to start a family when you're 45. Well, … God says otherwise.” [...] Vance was appearing on the September 20, 2021, edition of the Moment of Truth podcast, which is run by the conservative organization American Moment. Around the time of the podcast, Vance was a member of the group’s board of advisors. He is currently a board member emeritus for the group.
American Moment is an organizational partner for Project 2025, the Heritage Foundation-led plan to provide staffing and policy priorities for the next Republican administration. Former President Donald Trump and his presidential campaign are heavily connected to Project 2025, with Vance writing the foreword to Heritage President Kevin Roberts’ upcoming book. The September 2021 podcast featured Vance with American Moment President Saurabh Sharma and Chief Operations Officer Nick Solheim.
[...] Later, co-host Nick Solheim asked Vance why journalists get things “so wrong? Like, why is it that there's this complete disconnect between them and reality?” Vance replied, in part, by claiming that it’s because their biological clocks have run out.
[...] Vance’s remarks on the American Moment podcast are part of a larger record of remarks in the media in which he has attacked childless people — in particular, Vance has attacked Vice President Kamala Harris even though she has two stepchildren.
More vile insults from JD Vance, this time towards journalists.
