Shruti Rajkumar at HuffPost:
Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance again described women who prioritize their careers as “miserable,” and slammed Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) for her “ingratitude” as a Somali immigrant, on a right-wing podcast in 2021.
Vance made the comments, which were first reported on by The Guardian and Media Matters for America, on a newly resurfaced episode of a podcast produced by American Moment, a partner of the group behind the far-right policy plan known as Project 2025. Asked why he viewed elite institutions like Yale University as “corrupt,” Vance reiterated his feelings about women who don’t have kids. “You have women who think that truly, the liberationist path is to spend 90 hours a week working in a cubicle at McKinsey, instead of starting a family and having children,” he said. He continued: “What they don’t realize — and I think some of them do eventually realize that, thank God — is that that is actually a path to misery. And the path to happiness and to fulfillment is something that these institutions are telling people not to do.” When a host asked him where “gender and racial resentment” comes from, Vance adopted the perspective of a hypothetical progressive.
“Clearly, this value set has made me a miserable person, who can’t have kids because I already passed the biological period when it was possible,” Vance said. “And I live in a 1,200 sq ft apartment in New York and I pay $5,000 a month for it. But I’m really better than these other people. What I’m going to do is project my racial and gender sensitivities on the rest of them.” Vance also took the opportunity to take a dig at Omar while speaking about migrants, saying that the Minnesota Democrat has shown “a complete lack of gratitude” towards the U.S. and that she would be in a “craphole” if she hadn’t moved to this country.
More gross and crass sexist comments from Ohio Senator and Trump VP nominee JD Vance.

Sorry this is a very very very routine and basic question but my cricket need won't stop bugging me so....
Who's your favorite player and also your fav Era of cricket?
hey, this isn't a basic question dw but my answer definitely would be very basic and my inbox is always open to ask questions so it's fine!! Also do you go by any name here??
I didn't actively watch cricket until the recent years, was a kiddo to watch India win the cup in '11 and I feel shit for having had no knowledge of it then (kyuki ab pata nahi trophy wapis kab aayegi 🤧) so my favourite era is mostly the era of Fab 4, significant events being 2015 and 2019 wc. I have grown up watching them play and have no memory of watching the legends play, so there's that- not much to choose from tbh
23wc was also very very prominent, cuz like we won everything and i remember watching every match no matter who was playing for that entire month or so. It was a fun time, since a lot of players were playing their last odi wc and it might me the last season for ict with these players. The last defeat also makes it unforgettable ngl.
Favourite cricketer? that has to be Kane and Kohli, for some reason that I cannot fathom, i always liked the NZ team (don't come for me please 🙏🏻) someone more veteran has to be Saurabh Ganguly (Dada would always be iconic)

Review of ‘Haddi’: Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Anurag Kashyap Starrer Tries Marrying Masala-Myths and Artistry-Mastery and Results are Mixed
It is no less than remarkable that within this ‘good-went-evil-to avenge’ formulae, bone smuggling, highway crimes, double crosses and political maneuvering marry to the plot with ease. All these could have led to a chaos but, with immense help from actors and some good staged moments, all these lead to final duel which is a fitting conclusion. That pre-climax to climax stretch justifies…

LUCKNOW, India (Reuters) -At least 35 people were killed and 16 were injured after the roof of a stepwell in a temple complex collapsed in central India, a local government official said on Friday.
The incident occurred in the central Indian city of Indore after a concrete slab covering the roof of a stepwell in a temple complex collapsed, crushing devotees who had gathered to celebrate the Hindu festival of Ram Navami on Thursday, officials said.
Stepwells are a common feature across India, built hundreds of years ago, many of them ornately decorated, with access to a body of water through stairs and niches.
"The stepwell was covered, but the slab covering it collapsed because of the crowd and extra load on it," Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the central Indian state where Indore is located, told reporters late on Thursday.
At least 75 army and rescue personnel worked through the day to remove debris, using ropes and ladders to pull out people who had fallen into the well, local media reported.
"We have rescued 18 people, 35 have been found dead and 16 are injured," Ilayaraja T, a top local government official, told Reuters.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences and announced compensation for the dead and injured in the incident.

Vadh: The Film Review
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Image of Sanjay Mishra lead in the reviewed film Plot: This film tells the story of parents who borrow 10 to 15 lakh rupees with interest to send their son abroad. The moneylender comes to their house and collects interest. He is a scoundrel but one day he vanished. He is married and had a girl. Where and how did he disappear? Did he die or was he killed? Watch the film to find out. Tone and Theme: The tone of this film is suspenseful and the theme is based on murder & mystery. The goal of this film is to entertain and keep you guessing until the end. Acting and Characters: Sanjay Mishra delivers a serious performance as Mishra. He did an excellent job playing the role of a helpless father without saying much and acting solely with his face. He could express pain and sorrow on his face very well. Neena Gupta's performance as Manju is also very serious. She has also attempted to play her role differently. She did everything she could to send her son abroad while also fulfilling her wifely duties admirably. Manav Vij also delivers an excellent performance as Shakti Singh. His acting reflects this completeness. Saurabh Sachdeva's performance as Prajapati Pandey is also good.It is not a particularly long role, but it is enjoyable. Written and Direction: Jaspal Singh Sandhu wrote and directed this film. This is his first Hindi movie. Before this movie, he made Punjabi movies. Rajeev Barnwal has also worked with him on directing this movie. The genre of the movie related to parallel cinema. The film's plot filled with on edge. His direction is exceptional. The story and screenplay well written. The pace of the film is a little slow. The dialogues are also well-written. Cinematography: Sapan Narula's cinematography is also good. The scenes in the film are well shot. Aerial views are also good. Editing: Bharat S Rawat's editing is weak and slow-paced. Some scenes drag, and the film becomes tedious in parts. Sound Design: Dinesh Uchil provides excellent sound design. Background Score: Gurcharan Singh's background score is heartfelt and appropriate for the film's mood. Production Design: Tariq Umar Khan and Nadiri Khan (Saba) are adequate, and the sets for the old house well constructed. Costume Design: Darshan Jalan and Manish Tiwari did an excellent job designing the costumes, which are appropriate for the film's characters. Climax: It filled with suspense and mystery. Opinion: Those who enjoy watching suspense and mystery films can see the film once. Flaws: The story fails to progress for the first 35 to 40 minutes of the film. A man brutally murdered, and the police are unable to gather any evidence. What message are we sending to society when someone murdered for such a minor offense and all evidence destroyed? What will people learn from watching this? How can you murder someone over such a trivial matter? The film says nothing about the son for whom the loan taken with interest. The film says nothing about whether or not the son is helping his parents. Social message: Parents go above and beyond for their children, fulfilling their every wish. However, children can forget everything in a single moment. The person for whom they obtained a loan of 25 lakhs turns out to be a fraudster. The film also includes an adult scene, so children will be unable to watch it with their parents. 68th Filmfare Awards: The film nominated for Best Actor, Actress, Film (Critics), Best Debut Director, Best Story, and Screenplay, and it won two awards: Best Actor Critics Sanjay Mishra and Best Debut Director Jaspal Singh Sandhu Filmcast: Sanjay Mishra, Neena Gupta, Manav Vij, and Saurabh Sachdeva Producer: Luv Ranjan, Ankur Garg, Neeraj Ruhil, Subhav Sharma, Nymphea Saraf Sandhu, Director: Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Rajeev Barnwal, Casting: Naren Bansal, Sound Design: Dinesh Uchil, Costume Design: Darshan Jalan, Manish Tiwari, Background Score: Gurcharan Singh, Production Design: Tariq Umar Khan, Nadiri Khan (Saba), Editor: Bharat S Rawat, Cinematography: Sapan Narula Read the full article

Eric Hananoki at MMFA:
In 2021, JD Vance, the former CNN commentator and Ohio senator who is now Donald Trump’s running mate, had a message for many journalists: You are “miserable and unhappy” because your biological clock has run out and you can’t start a family.  Vance appeared on the podcast of a group that is now allied with Project 2025 and discussed problems with journalism by stating that “one of the weird lies the elites have been told is that it's very easy to start a family when you're 45. Well, … God says otherwise.” [...] Vance was appearing on the September 20, 2021, edition of the Moment of Truth podcast, which is run by the conservative organization American Moment. Around the time of the podcast, Vance was a member of the group’s board of advisors. He is currently a board member emeritus for the group.
American Moment is an organizational partner for Project 2025, the Heritage Foundation-led plan to provide staffing and policy priorities for the next Republican administration. Former President Donald Trump and his presidential campaign are heavily connected to Project 2025, with Vance writing the foreword to Heritage President Kevin Roberts’ upcoming book.  The September 2021 podcast featured Vance with American Moment President Saurabh Sharma and Chief Operations Officer Nick Solheim.
[...] Later, co-host Nick Solheim asked Vance why journalists get things “so wrong? Like, why is it that there's this complete disconnect between them and reality?” Vance replied, in part, by claiming that it’s because their biological clocks have run out.
[...] Vance’s remarks on the American Moment podcast are part of a larger record of remarks in the media in which he has attacked childless people — in particular, Vance has attacked Vice President Kamala Harris even though she has two stepchildren.
More vile insults from JD Vance, this time towards journalists.

[ad_1] New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday disclosed that it had discovered documents linked to assets worth approximately Rs 33 crore after conducting searches in connection with a money laundering investigation. The probe is related to a disproportionate assets case involving a former Madhya Pradesh transport department official and his associates. On December 27, the ED raided eight premises across Bhopal, Gwalior, and Jabalpur. The investigation centers on Saurabh Sharma, a former constable with the state transport department, and his associate, Chetan Singh Gaur, along with others including Sharad Jaiswal and Rohit Tiwari. The ED said in a press release that these individuals were either suspected beneficiaries of the proceeds of crime or have allegedly abetted in laundering the illicit funds. The money laundering case stems from an FIR of Lokayukta police of the MP government against Sharma where it is alleged that he amassed "disproportionate assets worth crores of rupees in the name of his family members and associated firms and companies".The federal agency said details of bank accounts and properties were identified during the searches and an analysis found that Sharma had "bought a number of properties in the name of his family members, friends and companies in which his close associates were directors".Movable assets (fixed deposits) of more than Rs 6 crore were identified in the name of Chetan Singh Gaur and bank deposits of more than Rs 4 crore were found in the name of family members and companies of Sharma, it said. Some documents related to immovable properties worth more than Rs 23 crore in the name of various companies and family members of Sharma were found along with other "incriminating" documents, the ED claimed. These assets were allegedly purchased and acquired by Sharma from "illegal" money obtained through "corrupt" practices while he was working as a constable in the state transport department, the agency said. The Income Tax Department had seized gold bars of 52 kgs and cash of Rs 11 from the vehicle of Chetan Singh Gaur sometime back.According to the Lokayukta, Sharma got appointed as a constable in the Madhya Pradesh transport department on compassionate grounds in 2015 and he took voluntary retirement from service in 2023.
