There is madness when I am singing on stage, fans love me, I think let them be happy. Otherwise iss type ke log hum hain hi nahi. Humein bhi unko khush karna hota hai.”

We have given his sample for facial recognition process. The accused is very smart. He did a recce of the area before the theft at Saif Ali Khan's house. We need his custody for further investigation and interrogation."

Investigating officer Ajay Lingurkar also said that a team of Mumbai Police is in Kolkata to find out how the accused entered India and how he sent money to his family in Bangladesh. The accused's lawyers Sandeep Sherkhane and Dinesh Prajapati argued against police remand. The magistrate refused to give immediate custody to the police after reviewing the investigation so far.

Meanwhile, the police van carrying the accused Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad from the police station to the court broke down on the way. Bandra court is less than two kilometers away from the police station. But after going 100 meters ahead, the police van broke down and the policemen were seen pushing it. Despite this, the van did not start, so another vehicle was arranged in a hurry. After this, the police reached the court with the accused.

Earlier, Mumbai Police had said that sufficient evidence has been found against the accused. People who were in contact with him are being questioned. But the role of any other person has not been revealed yet. DCP Dixit Gedam said that a detailed investigation has been done on the basis of clues in the crime number 85/25 registered in Bandra police station. During this, sufficient evidence has been found against the accused Shariful Islam.

On the question of mismatch of the accused's fingerprint, the DCP said that the police has not received any report related to the fingerprint yet. The fingerprints have been sent to the bureau for investigation. We are waiting for the report. Let us tell you that so far two types of media reports have come out regarding the fingerprint. In one it was said that the fingerprint matched, while in the other it was revealed that there was a mismatch.

Additional CP Paramjit Singh Dahiya said that Saif Ali Khan reached Lilavati Hospital at 2:40 am on 16 January. We were informed about this case by the hospital. A case has been registered under sections 311, 312, 331(4), 331(6) and 331(7) of the Indian Penal Code. In this connection, a woman has also been questioned in Chhapra of Nadia district of West Bengal on Monday.

AIBE 19 Exam Result 2025: The Bar Council of India (BCI) is likely to announce the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) 19 results soon. Candidates can check their scorecards on the official website, allindiabarexamination.com, using their registration ID and password once the results are out. The exam took place on December 22, 2024, across more than 50 cities in India. The objection window for the answer key was open from December 30, 2024, to January 10, 2025. After reviewing the objections, BCI will release the final answer key along with the results. However, the official date and time for the results have not yet been announced.

The AIBE 19 exam took place on December 22, 2024, with 100 questions covering 19 topics or subjects. A provisional answer key was released on December 28, 2024, and candidates could raise objections from December 30, 2024, to January 10, 2025, by paying Rs 500 per objection.

Experts will review the objections, and if an objection is found valid, the Rs 500 fee will be refunded. The final answer key will be released after this process, and the results will be prepared accordingly.

However, Greeshma showed her educational achievements to escape the case, cited her nine criminal histories but the court put it in the category of heinous crime. The court found that Greeshma had carried out this murder in a planned manner. She had tried to kill Sharon even before this. At the same time, after her arrest, she also tried to harm herself. 11 Dead After Jumping Off Train Over Fire Rumour, Getting Hit By Another

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis mourned the loss of lives, adding that he is in touch with the district administration and all assistance is being provided.

Eleven people were killed after a fire rumour on a train crossing Maharashtra's Jalgaon triggered panic among passengers, with several of them jumping off the train and getting hit by another, said the police. The death count was confirmed to NDTV by Jalgaon's Superintendent of Police.

The accident took place between Maheji and Pardhade stations near Pachora, 400 km away from Mumbai, where the Lucknow-Mumbai Pushpak Express, a Daily Superfast Express train that runs between Lucknow to Mumbai, had halted after someone pulled the chain due to a rumour of fire around 5 pm, Central Railway officials said. 

Some passengers of the Pushpak Express stepped down, and were hit by the oncoming Karnataka Express, heading from Bengaluru to Delhi, said Central Railway's chief spokesperson Swapnil Nila.

"Our preliminary information is that there were sparks inside one of the coaches of Pushpak Express due to either 'hot axle' or 'brake-binding' (jamming), and some passengers panicked. They pulled the chain, and some of them jumped down on the tracks. At the same time, Karnataka Express was passing on the adjoining track," a senior railway official told news agency PTI.

An accident relief train has been dispatched from Bhusaval, said the Central Railway, adding that all efforts are being made to provide medical aid to the injured passengers.

Harrowing images showed bodies lying on tracks and some people wandering around with blood all over them. 

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis mourned the loss of lives, adding that he is in touch with the district administration and all assistance is being provided. 

"The loss of lives in the unfortunate incident near Pachora in Jalgaon district is deeply distressing. I express my condolences to the families of those killed. My colleague, minister Girish Mahajan, and the Superintendent of Police have reached the spot, and the District Collector will reach there shortly," Mr Fadnavis posted on X in Marathi. 

"The entire district administration is working in coordination with the railway administration, and immediate arrangements are being made for the treatment of the injured. Eight ambulances have been dispatched. The general hospital as well as other nearby private hospitals have been kept ready for the treatment of the injured. Emergency equipment like glass cutters, floodlights etc. have also been kept ready. We are monitoring the entire situation and all necessary assistance is being provided immediately. I am in touch with the district administration," the Chief Minister added.

Maharashtra minister Gulabrao Patil, who is also the guardian minister of Jalgaon, said senior officials are reaching the spot.

Kolkata RG Kar Hospital case: Five times when rape-murder convicts get death sentence in India

Kolkata rape and murder case: There is a growing demand for the death sentence for the Kolkata rape and murder convict, however, the court said that the case does not fall in the 'rarest of the rare' category. There is a split opinion over giving capital punishment in India.

Kolkata RG Kar Hospital case: The high-profile Kolkata doctor rape and murder case concluded after a city court sentenced Sanjay Roy, the accused, to life imprisonment till death on Monday. Roy was convicted of the rape and murder of an on-duty doctor at the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on Saturday. However, the case is likely to move to the higher courts, depending on the two parties' next move. Roy was held guilty of the crime committed against the postgraduate trainee doctor at the hospital on August 9 last year, which sparked off unprecedented and prolonged nationwide protests led by doctors.

'Not the rarest of the rare'

Judge Anirban Das said the crime did not fall under the "rarest of the rare" category as justification for not giving the death penalty to the convict. The court also directed the state to pay a compensation of Rs 17 lakh to the family of the deceased doctor.

Roy, a former civic volunteer with the Kolkata Police, was held guilty under Sections 64 (rape), 66 (punishment for causing death), and 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Demand for death sentence

Though the court did not give a death sentence to the accused, the protesting doctors and the victim's parents demanded capital punishment for Roy, who brutally killed the victim after raping her on the premises of the hospital.

In India 'capital punishment' is given in only the 'rarest of the rare' cases. The death sentences are also criticised by a quarter, citing humanitarian grounds. Notwithstanding, there were some occasions in the history of the Indian judiciary in which the judges pronounced the death penalty. 

Here, we listed five rare rape cases:

Delhi Nirbhaya case 2012: A 23-year-old physiotherapy intern was beaten, gang-raped, and brutally tortured on a moving bus in Delhi's Munirka on December 16, 2012, triggering nationwide protests over women's safety. The case has been historic as the protesting youth compelled the government to make laws to ensure women's safety. A fast-track court pronounced death sentences to four adult accused—Pawan Gupta, Mukesh Singh, Akshay Thakur, and Vinay Sharma—on September 10, 2013. Later, three of them were hanged to death on March 20, 2020. One accused—Ram Singh—committed suicide in Tihar jail.

Kolkata rape and murder case 1990: Almost two decades ago, Dhananjoy Chatterjee hit the headlines after a court convicted him for the rape and murder of a 14-year-old schoolgirl on March 5, 1990. After 14 years of the heinous crime, Chatterjee was executed in Kolkata on August 14, 2004. 

Rape and murder case 1996-98: In the late 1990s, serial killer and rapist Umesh Reddy created panic among people in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. According to the police record, he killed 18 women. Reddy was convicted in 9 cases. The Karnataka High Court pronounced the death sentence to Reddy in 2009. Later, the High Court order was upheld by the Supreme Court of India in 2011. 

Ripper Chandran case: Muthukutty Chandran, also known as Ripper Chandran, was a serial killer from Kerala. He committed several egregious crimes, including rape in 1985-86. Chandran was hanged to death in 1991 for killing fourteen people and raping several women.

Odisha rape and murder case: Laxman Naik was hanged to death on July 16, 1994, for raping and murdering a minor girl in the forest in Odisha. He was hanged to death at Berhampore Circle Jail.

Crime News: In Ludhiana, in-laws burnt their daughter-in-law alive after giving birth to a daughter. She has been admitted to Dayanand Medical College (DMC) in a critical condition. The police have arrested the accused husband in this case. The search for the mother-in-law and father-in-law is still on.

The incident took place two days ago in Swaddi Kala village under Sindhwa Bet police station. The victim, Sukhjit Kaur, is currently battling for life at Dayanand Medical College (DMC). On the complaint of the victim's elder sister Sumanpreet Kaur, the police have registered a case against her husband Gurpreet Singh, mother-in-law Manjit Kaur and father-in-law Amarjit Singh.

According to Sumanpreet, her sister got married to tempo driver Gurpreet Singh 9 years ago. A year after the marriage, Sukhjit gave birth to a daughter, Gurnoor, who is now 8 years old. Two days ago, Sumanpreet received a call from Pandori Nursing Home in Mullapur that her sister had been left in a decomposed condition.

Regarding this, police officials said that the victim is not in a position to give her statement. The accused husband Gurpreet Singh has been arrested. Currently, the police is investigating the case.

Photo Of Knife Lodged In Saif Ali Khan's Spine: 'Was Soaked In Blood But Entered Hospital Like Lion'

Saif Ali Khan Attack News: Doctors at Lilavati hospital said that they will restrict visitors today as the actor needs to take rest due to knife-inflicted wounds, "especially in the back which can have chances of infection".

A picture of a part of the knife, which allegedly broke off and remained lodged in Saif Ali Khan‘s spine, emerged on Friday. Niraj Uttamani, the Chief Operating Officer of Lilavati Hospital, said that if the stab was 2 mm deeper, the actor would have sustained a life-threatening injury.

Uttamani added that the actor is a “real hero" as he walked into the hospital like a lion despite being soaked in blood. He didn’t even use a stretcher, the doctor added.

Khan was repeatedly stabbed by an intruder in his highrise apartment in posh Bandra West neighbourhood early Thursday and rushed to hospital with the blade still lodged in his thoracic spine.

He underwent an extensive surgery to remove the part of the knife. Dr Nitin Dange, the neurosurgeon who performed the operation, said on Thursday, “The actor is stable, recovering well, and out of danger."

“He sustained a serious injury to his thoracic spine. The surgery was necessary to remove the knife and repair the leaking spinal fluid," Dr Dange explained.

In addition to the spinal injury, Khan had two other deep wounds. These were on the left wrist and on the right side of his neck. The injuries were addressed by the plastic surgery team, led by Dr Leena Jain.

On Friday, the 54-year-old actor was shifted from the Intensive Care Units (ICU) to a special room at the private hospital.

“Today we will be restricting visitors as we want Saif Ali Khan to rest. He has to take rest due to knife-inflicted wounds, especially in the back which can have chances of infection," the doctors at Lilavati Hospital said.

Besides Khan, a 56-year-old staff nurse at the house, Eliyama Philip, who is the complainant, and a domestic help suffered blade injuries in the incident, said an official.

The entire family – Khan, his wife and fellow star Kareena Kapoor, and their two sons, four-year-old Jeh and eight-year-old Taimur – were home in the 12th-floor apartment along with their five house helps. In a statement to the police, Jeh’s nanny Philip, who first encountered the armed attacker, said he asked for Rs 1 crore.

He is currently admitted in Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. His condition is stable. The doctor said that he was attacked with a knife six times. He has a serious wound on his spine.

The picture of the attacker who attacked Saif Ali Khan has surfaced. He is seen escaping from the stairs of the house. According to Mumbai Police, the person who attacked the actor entered the house through the fire exit stairs with the intention of stealing and stayed there for hours. The suspected accused has been captured in the CCTV footage of the same building on the 12th floor of which Saif lives with his family.

Former Fossils Bassist Chandramouli Biswas Dies By Suicide At 48, Police Say 'He Battled Long-Term Depression'

Chandramouli Biswas, a celebrated musician associated with Fossils, Golok, and Zombie Cage Control, was found dead in his Kolkata residence.

The Kolkata music scene mourns the tragic loss of bassist Chandramouli Biswas, who passed away on Sunday at the age of 48, as per the Times of India. Best known for his association with iconic bands Fossils, Golok, and Zombie Cage Control, Biswas was discovered at his rented home near Wellington by Golok lead vocalist Mohul Chakraborty, who immediately alerted authorities and locals.

Chakraborty revealed that he grew concerned when Biswas did not respond to his calls throughout the day. "I contacted one of his close friends, and we went to his home together, only to find him dead. It’s a huge loss for the Bengal music industry," he said.

Chandramouli had left a promising engineering career to follow his passion for music. He played a significant role in shaping Kolkata’s independent music landscape.

According to the police, preliminary investigations indicated that Chandramouli had been battling depression for several years due to financial difficulties. A cop said that they spoke to his relatives and friends, who said he was “depressed for some years and was also undergoing treatment”. Officers recovered a suicide note stating that no one was responsible for his death. The note’s handwriting is currently under verification, and his body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.

Fossils manager Rupsha Dasgupta shared that Chandramouli was part of the band from 2000 until 2018, first as a guitarist and later as a bassist, before leaving due to health reasons. She expressed her sorrow, saying, "Chandra had a massive fan base among young listeners. His death is both shocking and heartbreaking. Beyond his musical talent, he was an incredibly cheerful and sociable person who touched many lives."

Chandramouli updated his Facebook profile picture just hours before his death. He is survived by his parents.

Rupee Hits Record Low, Sensex Tumbles: How Will Sitharaman Navigate Budget Amidst Global Pressures?

With her hands tied, what actions will Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman take in the Union Budget 2025to give a fillip to the stock market, encourage capital expenditure or boost exports when the rupee will remain vulnerable?

Days before Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presents Union Budget 2025-26, the Indian Rupee has hit the record low and touched 86.2050 against the US Dollar on Monday. Is it just a coincidence that BSE Sensex tumbled 800 points down when the opening bell rang? How will these two factors among others impact first full Budget of Modi 3.0?

The Indian Rupee came under pressure after the US job data showed the addition of 2,86,000 new jobs last month, indicating that the Federal Reserve may hold at least for some time any decision to slash the interest rate as the unemployment rate has come down to 4.1% surprisingly.

There are other factors too like increased yield on US Treasury bills.

Will Weak Rupee Complicate Issues For Nirmala Sitharaman?

The weakness of currency indicates that the foreign reserve has come under pressure due to less-than-expected export figures. It may further complicate the problem for those industries that depend heavily on imports for capital expenditure and raw materials.

A weak Rupee may increase the input cost for these industries.

The Union Budget 2025-26 is also coming at a time when the US-India trade ties may have a fresh start with President-elect Donald Trump having already repeatedly announced his plans of imposing puitive tariffs on goods from China, India, Canada ad Mexico.

Will Donald Trump’s Inauguration Impact Union Budget?

Trump announced on the campaign trail his decision to implement the “America First” policy and reiterated it after he got elected.

Trump will take oath as the US President on January 20, more than a week before Nirmala Sitharaman will present her budget in Lok Sabha on February 1.

Earlier in 2024, the rupee declined 5 paise to hit 83.71 against the greenback after Nirmala Sitharaman raised tax rates on capital gains in the Budget.

As the currency is already under pressure, the Finance Minister will not have the leverage to take any decision that may further erode foreign reserves and push the Rupee against the US Dollar.

FIIs Sale Indian Stocks

Earlier, the FIIs sold securities worth Rs 22,259 crore in less than ten trading sessions so far this year. The net outflow of Rs 1.20 lakh crore took place last year. The weakening of the rupee has been the biggest factor, which still continues.

The further outflow of the weakening of the rupee against the dollar is not unexpected as the 2-year-US Treasury bills will soon hit the market, and the FIIs may get tempted to further offload their Indian stocks.

It is most likely to take place before February 1, when the Finance Minister will present her 8th Union Budget. Nirmala Sitharaman may come under pressure if it happens.

The imposition of tariffs on Indian goods may be another US factor impacting the Union Budget 2025-26. The bilateral trade is in favour of India with a trade surplus of $35.3 billion in 2023-24.

Trump earlier announced to imposition of punitive tariffs on Indian goods to encourage the US manufacturers under the America First policy.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharman will present the Union Budget 2025-26 under these constraints, among many others.

Earlier, Goldman Sachs said that the Finance Minister should strike a balance between growth and fiscal discipline considering the rising public debt and fiscal deficit.

The fiscal deficit has been rising over the years. The government earlier announced to limit the fiscal deficit to 4.9% of the GDP for FY 2024-25 and 4.5% to FY 2025-26.

Major incident in Punjab, 4 people shot dead a young man riding a motorcycle

Tarn Taran (Raman) - Yesterday, a young man riding a motorcycle was injured while going to his house in the local Mohalla Guru Ka Khuh by four unknown persons with the intention of killing him. During this, the young man was injured after being hit by four bullets and has been admitted to the Government Hospital Tarn Taran for treatment. Meanwhile, after receiving information about this incident, a police party including S. P. Investigation Ajay Raj Singh and D. S. P. City Kamalmeet Singh reached the spot and further legal action was initiated.

Kawaljit Singh, son of Kulwant Singh, resident of Guru Ka Khu, who is undergoing treatment at the Civil Hospital, informed that this evening when he was returning home on a motorcycle, he was attacked by four people from his locality near Guru Ka Khu Mor with the intention of killing him. Kamaljit Singh said that the attackers had a pistol with them, who fired indiscriminately, due to which four bullets hit him in the leg while one bullet hit the mobile phone in his pants pocket. The reason for this attack was said to be to stop the sale of white liquor in the locality. Kawaljit Singh said that Bant Singh, a resident of his locality, was asked many times to stop selling white liquor, but he did not comply. Kawaljit Singh said that the accused Bant Singh, who was openly selling white liquor near the police post town, fired shots with the intention of killing him.

Alleged Aghori attempted rape in the name of giving initiation, allegation causes commotion in Varanasi Commissionerate!

The victim kept making rounds to the Chowk police station in Varanasi to register a case and seeing the matter getting worse, the police hastily registered a case and started investigating. According to the victim, she met a sadhu (alleged Aghori) named Rajagopal Manikandan through social media with her husband. It is alleged that the sadhu called her to meet him at his ashram Sri Jai Aghorkali Thirukovil and Charitable Trust Tamil Nadu and made her a member of the trust. Along with that, he talked about giving initiation at Manikarnika Ghat in Kashi. According to the victim, she reached Varanasi with her husband on 23 December and stayed in a guest house in Chowk area. The sadhu took the woman across the Ganga at Manikarnika Ghat at night and started performing havan and tantra sadhna. When the victim expressed her displeasure over this, she was ordered to send her husband back home (Kolkata). On the orders of the sadhu, the victim's husband left his wife and went back home.

The victim was forced to smoke marijuana and dedicate herself to Guruji

The victim alleges that the disciples of the accused sadhu called her to the guest house room after her husband left. Where the sadhu was present along with some of his disciples who were smoking ganja. The disciples also encouraged the victim to smoke ganja and surrender herself to Guruji (accused sadhu). According to the victim, on the evening of 25 December, the accused Rajagopal Manikandan forced himself on the victim in his room in the guest house and started behaving obscenely with her. The victim says that somehow she escaped from there that day, but after a few days, the disciples of the accused again forcibly took her to his room where the sadhu tried to rape her by forcing himself on her. The victim alleges that in the morning, she reached Chowk police station and complained against the accused, but the inspector present there made her visit the police station again and again for her complaint. According to the victim, she fainted and fell in the police station premises in shock after seeing no action being taken even after the complaint. The victim was taken to the hospital from the police station and was discharged on January 1. Meanwhile, on getting information about the whole incident, the victim's husband also returned from Kolkata to Varanasi. On the complaint of the victim, the police also registered an NCR. When the victim reached the guest house room with her, some people reached there and made a video and tried to take the matter in the wrong direction. The victim has now approached the court for justice.

Regarding the case, ACP Dharmendra Mishra of Dashaswamedh area said that a woman living in Kolkata has lodged a complaint in Chowk police station. In which she has accused an Aghori sadhu of molestation and attempted rape. On the complaint of the woman, an NCR has been registered against the accused and investigation is being done. The court has sought a report in this case, after the report and the statement of the victim woman are registered, whatever further action will be taken will be done on the basis of law. This infection, which spread from China, has also knocked in India. The Union Health Ministry is on alert mode after cases of HMPV were reported in the country. 

All states have been advised to maintain constant surveillance and vigilance. However, the Health Ministry has assured the people that there is no need to fear or panic about this infection. But there is a need for vigilance.

At the same time, the Punjab government is keeping a watchful eye on the new Chinese virus HMPV. Let us tell you that Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh gave instructions regarding HMPV and also informed about the arrangements being made in this regard. 

Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh said that elaborate arrangements have been made at Rajindra Hospital in Patiala. Testing is being done across Punjab. There is no need to panic about the virus. He also said that not a single case has been reported in Punjab. 

The Health Minister further said that children below 1 year of age and the elderly should avoid it across Punjab. Currently, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is keeping a close eye on the situation. 

He also said that people with weak immunity and people above 60 years of age have been advised to wear masks in crowded places. The minister further said that this virus is not as serious as Corona. It is a mild virus, which causes flu-like symptoms. However, it is not fatal.

At the same time, PGI Chandigarh senior doctor Professor PVM Lakshmi has said that this is not a particularly dangerous virus, it is a common virus that we often get, nor is it a new virus, it is just like a common cold. 

Dr. Lakshmi further said that if anyone is infected with this virus, then they are elderly or children, but there is no need to panic about it. It can be cured by taking normal treatment. Dr. Lakshmi says that there is no such element recorded in it that needs to be panicked.
