Summary: Trying to keep a relationship a secret is hard enough, but what about a relationship with the Divine Priestess of Watatsumi Island? Well...

sorry for the late publishing, i have been lacking motivation, and i have recently become mentally exhausted. This has been in my drafts since January 22nd (2023). Sorry.

Contains Gorou, and my wife since 2.1, Sangonomiya Kokomi of course!

Being in charge of an entire island is tiring, but the thing that is more tiring is keeping a relationship hidden from the public, even the closest of people. And that was the current situation for the current Divine Priestess, Sangonomiya Kokomi.

She currently sat at her desk in her private study in the illuminated coral palace, a peaceful and calm area where all of the island's affairs were at her fingertips. But as of late, she had been working herself sick, staying up late to the early hours of the next day, you knew it was not good for her. But now, as she sat at the desk, she looked outside the window, looking down at the town below, which is surrounded by waterfalls and local wildlife. The palace stood out from the entire island, looking over everything to ensure everything was in line.

With the number of affairs to do constantly piled up for her, she did not like the amount of stress that could make her sick. The thoughts clouded her mind. But it would soon be blown away as you walked into the study with a wicker basket on your arm containing things from the market. You were happy that no one in the town suspected who you were, as you would not be able to get anywhere without people crowding you from all directions. But there was only one person who knew who you really were.

"(Y/N), you're back" Kokomi smiled as she looked up to see you walk over, she stood up, and you did a small bow, "enough with the formalities, (Y/N), you don't have to do that every time we meet" she smiled again.

"But it's only good manners," you said simply with a shrug. You do have a point, Kokomi realised, as the amount of power and status she has, the people acknowledge and honour it, “and you deserve the praise of it all.”

“Oh” she blushed lightly, looking away to the side with her hands behind her back, “don’t flatter yourself.”

After she had finished her most recent work of affairs for the island, she cleared it off her desk and put your basket on top of it, it was about lunch time and you both needed to eat. It contained both of you favourite things. But no fish. No. No. No.

But small meetings like this definitely make you two appreciate each other. Like you would talk about the smallest of things in great detail. Or deep conversations about what you like love about each other. Or how much you love each other in general.

No matter how deep those conversations may be, the moment can easily be shattered by a knock at the door and then it opened practically immediately after.

“Her Excellency?!” Gorou exclaimed as he practically came running through the doorway, “oh! (Y/N)? I-I am so sorry if I interrupted something” he said with a bow, he knew there was something going on between you and Kokomi, but not in a relationship way, “but Her Excellency, Captain of Swordfish Two has arrived for the talks.”

“Excellent” Kokomi smiled, “I will be there in a moment.” Gorou bowed before he left the room again, quietly closing the door behind him.

Your beloved turned back to you, “I’m sorry, my Sango Pearl. But my duties call, I promise we will continue when I come back.”

After she left, you both hoped that Gorou didn’t suspect a thing. Even the traveller. But the traveller may have suspected something when you were brought up in a conversation one time.

But the traveller is busy a lot of the time, why would they think about this? Or, do they think about it at all?

By the Shrine, Kokomi, Traveller and Paimon walked back to the secret base after the peace talks.

“Thank you for everything. With your help, peace has been restored on Watatsumi Island once more” Kokomi smiled, it was obvious that the days activities had taken an effect on her, she looked very tired.

“How are you energy levels?” The traveller asked as they took her current appearance into account.

“Recovering, slowly but surely... I should be raring to go before too long” she replied, “Today was a reminder that I don't cope well in situations with lots of people. I've improved, but I still get nervous when more than a handful of people are involved. I think I might get Gorou to handle the negotiations next time...”

“You did an admirable job.”

“…do you think so?”

They both nodded.

Kokomi sighed, “to be honest, I'm still a long way off what's expected of a Divine Priestess. In the past, I was concerned only with winning the war, restoring peace, and making sure everyone could live a happy life.

But I realize now that wasn't going far enough. People have all kinds of aspirations, and just as many measures of happiness.

I have a long way to go. But that's okay. If I can't make the journey in one giant leap, I'll just have to settle for taking it one small step at a time...

In short… I still have some maturing to do. Hm.. could you.. stay here on Watatsumi Island for a while longer? To keep me company until (Y/N) comes back. I’ve missed them today.” She leaned against her hand with a small smile.

She seemed happy and relieved when she thought and mentioned your name.

There is when the other two had their suspicions.

a noble descended from a lineage of alchemists. albedo prefers to stay at home to tend to his research and to avoid social interactions. in spite of believing that relationships are bothersome, he’s only interested in you. as an attempt to create a friendship, he brings you flowers which one of his books suggested. he becomes self-conscious that his efforts may not be sufficient, you appear happy when thanking him and complimenting his thoughtfulness. for a split second, an awkward smile graces upon his lips.

a mercenary of oni blood. infamous in his hometown for causing trouble with the authorities with his gang. itto is a popular figure because of his “dashing” looks and abrasiveness. his overconfidence is one reason why you can’t stand him. you never met someone this unbearable. he always disturbs your training by challenging you to a duel, lots of them. comes determined to win the match, but loses every single time. perhaps you’ll indulge him once more, just to see what happens when he finally will be victorious.

captain of the royal guard and royal advisor to the throne. assassination threats have been circulating throughout the kingdom, so he constantly puts his guard up even though you saved the twins. it’s the fact that they trust a complete stranger with battle experience who can kill them any time. nevertheless, he takes you under his wing in accordance with their wishes. his paranoia is understandable, but you believe he’s too harsh on you. he assigns you extra work to prove your worth as an asset. you hope you’ll survive the initiation process.

head of house ragnvindr, tycoons of the wine industry. everyone swoons over the flame-haired man. one of the girls at the flower shop can’t stop talking about diluc like a knight in shining armor. your opinion of him is that you don’t get the hype. politics are supposedly not that important to him, but it’s a whole different story when the royal guard is involved, opposing their operations. it’s suspicious that his comments align with a vigilante who wears a ridiculous costume at night. for sure, you think he deserves respect to protect the place called home.

exiled daughter of house lawrence, the clan with a tarnished reputation. the twins are gracious enough to grant eula a position of a royal soldier, upsetting the majority of citizens. you admire her dissociation with her clan’s history, wishing everyone sees her past that. she doesn’t deserve hate for something that is beyond her control. you want to befriend her, but her sense of humor is unique in a way that it kind of gives you chills down your spine. if it makes you feel any better, she likes you for seeing her as herself.

head of house gunnhildr. jean dedicates her life to serve the kingdom, to the point where she tends to overwork. more worried about the state of the state more than her own health, she doesn’t know how to reconnect with her younger sister and what romance feels like out of the romance novels she reads. as someone who spends most of their life in one place, you sympathize with her, therefore offering to solve her dilemma. after all, both of you need breaks from interfering with assassinations. she is confused as to why she feels warm when you’re around.

a former refugee from an insular empire. upon entering the kingdom a few years ago, kazuha was thought to be an assassin which he of course got arrested for, but was pardoned and given the option to live here and serve the crown. in the present, he patrols the seas to fend off intruders. at the end of the shift, he disappears from his crew just to find you. his captain knows that he is smitten with the soldier who was trained as a mercenary. the poems he recites at sea are essentially confession letters in hopes to make you his one day.

a fellow royal soldier adopted into house ragnvindr. the elderly consider kaeya like their own grandson, but he is so far from angelic. he misleads patrollers to another direction of the crimes and dodges your questions regarding his whereabouts. the citizens might be involved in his antics, avoiding eye contact with you whenever you mention him. apparently, you’re dense, failing to notice the signs of him trying to make a move on you. he’s been doing those things to make you pay attention to him and have you all to himself in private.

head of house kamisato. responsible for managing external affairs, ayato is required to travel, always away for business. although it’s said he goes on trips most of the time, his appearance is a mystery. rumored to be tall with blue hair and a mole near his mouth, everyone joins in the hunt to find him at the royal party, sending his sister and retainer in a frenzy to protect his identity. your dance partner fits the description to a t. when the guests discover that you were dancing with the commissioner, your partner kisses your hand and whisks away into the night.

head of house sangonomiya. kokomi is also its military strategist. having the ability to foresee the tactics and its outcomes of another army, she is a force to be reckoned with and a valuable ally to the crown. you had the pleasure of being invited to her guest room, where she was waiting for you in an extremely thin nightgown. not the type to show emotions, it’s rare to see her amused, and she beckons you to come inside. not only is she well-versed in the art of war, she’s surprisingly an expert in the art of seduction as well.

a diplomat from a neighboring kingdom, or so he claims to be. there is something about childe that sets him apart from the other diplomats who visited the kingdom. your first encounter with him is not pleasant. a mutual distrust forms between the two of you, yet the space you both share is tense. one night with crazed eyes and a knife at your neck, he reveals that he was assigned to assassinate the twins. you’re in the way, but oddly enough, he doesn’t want to hurt you. it seems like he’s doing this against his will, or it’s the tension talking.

retainer of house kamisato. thoma is a fan favorite among the royal staff by being the type of servant they needed. honestly, you don’t like him. but you don’t dislike him either. the epitome of perfection, but too perfect for your taste. he’s also too nice for his own good, hearing him apologize things he isn’t at fault for and saying yes to all requests from the staff. as he serves a clan full of swordsmen, he knows how to fight. so when you unleash a surprise attack on him, he doesn’t retaliate. it reminds him of a similar incident in the past that changed his life for the worse.

a deity sworn to protect the kingdom centuries ago as a promise to one draconic god. xiao finds humans strange, but you’re even stranger, as a child who fought against a beast by yourself in the forest, accidentally fulfilling a commission for a mercenary group who struggled to kill it for months. he despises crowds, but decides to pose as a royal soldier to meet you. when you encounter a dangerous creature during your patrol, he comes to your rescue. then he whispers into your ear to call his name in times of desperation before disappearing into thin air.

a knowledgeable historian. zhongli is friendly and enjoys having casual conversations over tea. there isn’t anyone within the castle who has not been invited to his corner of the library. you have been there as a regular you already lost count. from those meetings, you track his mesmerizing amber eyes. you swear that you’ve seen them in some history books of a draconic deity who once presided over this kingdom. it’s impossible, as higher beings perished during the cataclysm, but the glint in his eyes says otherwise.

so when nahida stepped into his room one afternoon, while he was studying, and announced your return from another expedition, he stood up from his seat so fast that his chair nearly fell over as he rushed out to finally see you.

kokomi often finds herself away for long periods of time. be it a need to take a break from social gatherings or drowning herself in plans for the resistance. either way, she considers herself lucky to have such a partner like you.

a partner like you that understands her boundaries and gives her all the time she needs, but knows to check on her as well. a partner like you who considers all her needs. a partner like you who feels meant for her. a partner like you who is just, so patient with her.

she thinks she should teach herself to be as patient as you, because right now, she was fidgeting with her fingers as she waited outside of the medical tent, wanting to tend to your wounds herself.

soon, the doctor stepped out of the tent, calling for her. "her excellency ?" "here, i am here." "they would like you to come in." and at that signal, kokomi couldn't keep herself together anymore as she rushed into the tent, her eyes finally laying on your bandage littered figure.

"darling !" "sweetheart !" her arms wrapped around you gentle, her cold tears tickling the skin of your collarbone, but you didn't mind as you held her close to you as well. "i'm okay now, see ? i apologize for worrying you my darling. ." you whispered softly into her ear as she hugged you, hiccupping between breathes as her tears still stained your collarbone.

"i missed you so much. i missed you so so much, i was so worried." her voice shook as she sat up, cupping her face as if grounding herself still. "i nearly knocked over a few things when i rushed out after i was informed you were here." you chuckled softly at her concern, taking her hands in yours and kissing each of her knuckles tenderly. "again, i apologize for worrying you, my darling." you spoke again, wiping away the tear stains left on her cheeks as she shook her head with a smile.

"no, don't apologize, i'm just glad to have you here now." she reassured.

Parenting Headcanons - Sangonomiya Kokomi & Kuki Shinobu

A/N: That cat gif? It's very nice.

When it comes to motherhood, Kokomi is patient. Having children is the crowning achievement of a relationship for her, so she will put the majority of her strength towards building a healthy environment for them to grow up in - that means ensuring your love is unbreakable, and that Watatsumi Island is peaceful and prosperous. 

For the priestess leader, marriage is good for her perception in the eyes of her subjects. Having children will no doubt further improve upon her image - Inazuma's society values family first and foremost, after all. An heir of her and your blood would surely make for a worthy successor of her title. 

All of it doesn't mean that Kokomi sees her little one as a political asset, however. Her desire to be a mother was there ever since she was just a child, and she sees motherhood as a natural final step, and a great honor. 

The means of conception aren't anything unusual - Kokomi will just ask you to stop using protection, as well as initiate sex more frequently. It might take some time, as there is no guarantee that the first attempt will be a success, but don't worry. Kokomi will support you all the way through. Patience is key. 

A boy or a girl? Kokomi considered this problem carefully, but in the end, she just shrugged. As long as they are healthy, she will be happy with either. 

The priestess won't publicly announce her pregnancy, as the news will spread the moment her stomach grows in size. As the leader, she has more than enough eyes on her at all times. When the people notice, Kokomi will be absolutely adored as an excellent leader and future mother, for sure! 

Without a doubt, the first to find out would be Gorou. His Inu senses will pick up the heartbeat of the baby once it is present. One day during a meeting, Kokomi will see Gorou freeze. She'll ask him if anything is wrong, but he won't reply, his ears and eyes focused on her belly. Once his brain connects the dots, his tail will wag aggressively and Gorou will certainly fail to contain his excitement. Even after the initial outburst of joy fades away, the general will smile and move the tail each time he sees Kokomi and hears her baby. Without a doubt, Gorou will act on his desire to protect those he holds in high regard and help her with whatever she might need. 

Kokomi will make use of his proposals and hand him the executive power on Watatsumi Island for a few years after her first trimester. He proved to be a capable manager during her leave for Sumeru. Kokomi will still participate in planning and decision making, but will avoid exerting herself. Stress is bad for your bundle of joy, after all. 

She will sleep and nap a lot. After such a long period of working herself down to the bone, that rest is more than deserved. Even if Kokomi won't insist or bother you about joining her, she will, shyly, make her desire known. Being held is fantastic on its own, but pregnancy sprinkles even more love on cuddles. 

Kokomi will use her time to prepare everything for the child (or children if the gods will bless her). The room, the crib, the toys, the clothes… she will make sure that everything is in its place. 

There will be many visitors, seeing as Kokomi has a great deal of connections. The most frequent ones will surely be The Crux. Beidou and Kazuha will bring you and Kokomi plenty of useful things as well as neat little baubles or trinkets for the kid to play with. Even if a little awkwardly, Sara will also meet with you as an act of political goodwill. As well as the Tengu General, Yae Miko will surely pay a visit to her Watatsumi counterpart. 

Since Kokomi has access to the absolute best healthcare, both she and her child will come out of labor unscathed. 

Her professional diligence will carry over to her motherly side. No matter how exhausting the situation becomes, no matter how much work you have to put in, Kokomi will always strive to do more for her child. Even despite the obvious option to leave a good part of the work to her maids, Kokomi will insist on taking care of her little ones herself - with your help, of course. Parenting is a joint effort, but also a bonding experience. 

As unpleasant as she finds that part, Kokomi will not hesitate to establish rules and teach them to behave. If she can't, she will ask you for help. Kokomi has a plan, as always. 

But even the strategist will get tired eventually. Although you can handle them with great success, some time away from your offspring is always welcome, and will usually be spent sleeping or relaxing in other ways. As you and Kokomi recover, Gorou will gladly step up to offer support. Physical exercise is the name of the game here - running, playing tag, archery, sparring (adjusted to their age and capability of course - sticks are good weapons too) or various ball games with the soldiers will keep the kid entertained. 

And, let's be honest here. What kid wouldn't like to play with a doggie general? 

Supported by you, her people and her adiutant, Kokomi will be a kind and caring mother. 10/10.

Shinobu is renowned for being meticulous when it comes to her dreams. With parenthood being one of her long-time goals, it's obvious she approaches it with diligence and care. 

Her parents, especially her mother, weren't very supportive of her life choices. The desire to outdo one's parents is natural, and especially strong with her. No matter the cost, Shinobu wants to guarantee that her children will have freedom and every ounce of support she could muster. Whoever and however many they are. 

As soon as she knew that both of you were willing to go further with the relationship and have children, she started her preparations. 

First, Shinobu began researching everything about pregnancy - from the conception right to the moment of childbirth. Her first step was practicing her pelvic floor muscles. Strengthening them makes childbirth easier, reduces the many discomforts of pregnancy and has plenty of use in the bedroom. Those exercises aren't that demanding, and can be fun to do - especially when you're there to help out��� 

Once the decision is made, Shinobu will start working hard on her health - and will encourage you to do so as well. 

Aside from the obvious healthy diet, lots of physical activity and the avoidance of alcohol and caffeine, Shinobu will track her cycles to pinpoint the best moments for trying for a child. She will start taking the appropriate vitamins to ensure the baby develops properly long before conception. Not only are those steps beneficial for her health, but they also allow the idea of being a mother to sink in and cement in her mind. Each day, she grows more excited at the thought. 

It's a joint effort, so she'll make sure you're in top condition too. You'll do many of the things she does, like stay away from drugs and keep active. On top of that, Shinobu will recommend many things that could improve your chances, like avoiding very hot baths, tight underwear and - most important of all - lots of sex. 

It's no surprise then that the conception will be a matter of one or two times. Even if, despite your best efforts, she won't get pregnant right away, she will be patient and supportive for as long as it takes. 

Itto won't get the message for as long as possible. Shinobu values her privacy, and she knows that if he heard, the matter would become public in no time. But when he does find out, he will be ecstatic. A little bro to help him in his antics and to take on adventures? Count him in! 

Shinobu will keep up her healthy lifestyle throughout the pregnancy, making sure to get lots of rest, drink water and do some light back exercises, as well as frequently visit the doctor's office. Even if it's in the far future, she will also research the local kindergartens and schools - what opinions they have, what programme, how far they are, how does the average day look like - everything there is to know. 

Enough said, the room for the child will be fashioned long before they arrive in the world, in great part by the One And Oni. He and the boys will make the crib, put up decorations and gather lots of toys they acquired through their antics. Even if it will be hard to part with them for the Numero Uno, he believes it's a noble cause. 

Her body will recover quite rapidly, thanks to her tip-top condition, with the baby being just as healthy as their mother. 

She is a freelancer, which grants her a lot of free time. It's free only by name, however - motherhood, life's final exam, takes much more effort than any test she was met with, and she wants to pass with flying colors. That said, it may be a good time to start looking for a more permanent job - your spendings will grow extensively very soon. With her skills and work ethic, most employers will fight over her. 

Itto will bungee at every opportunity to care for your child. No matter how troublesome it becomes, he will approach it with a very unusual dose of patience and maturity. His ideas will also get much less problematic, as getting in trouble with the law would be a bad example for the little guy (or gal). Seriously - it's as if he was the father… 

That said, Shinobu doesn't complain. Not at all. 

Diligent and meticulous as ever, Shinobu will shape up to be a shining example of a mother. 10/10.

most of the time she gets out of bed much earlier than you do, due to her work and the daily routine she usually follows. she kisses you on the forehead, covers you with a blanket if you have messed up the bedding in your sleep and quietly leaves the room, leaving you to get as much sleep as you need. but there are days when things are a little different!

the quiet rustle of silky fabric was the first sound to greet your ears in the morning. with your eyes closed, covered by a soft blanket, you mumbled uncertain words, still caught somewhere between dreams and reality. 

"'oh, i woke you? excuse me," kokomi's voice was sleepy and a little hoarse, but even with your eyes closed you could sense that she wasn't lying next to you in bed.

"wait, what time is it?" you lifted your head and blinked quickly to clear your blurred vision. kokomi had already gotten up from the bed and was in the middle of making up her part of your shared bed. her body was barely visible due to the lack of sunlight in the room, so it must have been early, but you could see the outline of her messy hair, a truly extraordinary sight considering her usually immaculate appearance. but in your eyes, in this state, she looked even more beautiful, more real and natural. 

she chuckled softly at your sleepy posture and covered her mouth with her hand, but she answered your question, "it's 6 am, as usual when i wake up".

"no, no, no, not today!" you laughed and crawled wobbly to her side of the bed. she was still standing close enough for you to grab her arm with your hand and pull her closer, "today is your day off, i won't let you out of bed until at least ten!" 

she fell onto the bed, almost on top of you as you both started to giggle, your arms tangled and all the bedding she had just fixed was a complete mess again. you really wanted her to rest more, as lately it seemed that she was overworking herself... being a divine priestess was certainly a demanding job, and even a person as qualified as kokomi deserved a few more hours of sleep from time to time! In this sequence of mornings that had been rather quick, with only a few kisses between the two of you, you just had to steal one that was slower and more tender. 

you held her close to your chest, stroking her hair and untangling it with your fingers. although she was a little hesitant at first, she soon realised that this way of starting her day could be much better and more pleasant than she could have expected. the chirping of the birds outside the window, accompanied by your soft breathing and your gentle touch, made her loosen up and close her eyes.

she wrapped her arms around you and nestled her face against your neck as you planted a kiss on the top of her head, her soft hair touching your lips. 

"maybe you were right this time," she murmured into your neck with a smile, "this has made my morning much better.”

kamisato ayaka

ayaka is also usually the first to wake up but unlike kokomi, she loves to wake you up herself! she loves the thought of being the first and the last thing you see throughout the day. sometimes when she's in a more playful mood she'll pull your blanket and tease you a little, sometimes she'll slowly kiss your neck and peck your jaw before reaching your lips, sometimes you'll be woken by a tempting smell of breakfast she's got from thoma. you never know!

"good morning, my love," ayaka whispered into your ear as she hovered over you. her blue, loose hair fell down on either side of her head, tickling your cheeks. a lovely smile that adorned her lips made you smile too, unconsciously, even if you only opened your eyes. 

"mornin-" you couldn't finish because of the yawn that escaped your lips. ayaka chuckled at the sound and put her hand lightly on your lips until you stopped yawning. 

"i've let you sleep a little longer today, my sleeper," she said, shifting her position to lay on her side next to you, "but it's time to wake up," she added in a softer voice, reaching out with her warm hand to stroke your cheek. 

you closed your eyes again, enjoying her gentle touch. you were still not fully awake, so you barely understood what she was saying, but just hearing her voice was enough to make you feel relaxed. her actions did not quite fulfil their original purpose of waking you up, but they had the opposite effect. her voice was so calming, how could you not want to fall asleep again in her arms?

"hey! you're not sleeping, are you?" she asked after noticing that you had drifted away a little too far, resting her chin on her hand to get a better view of you. you just smiled, not opening your eyes, but quickly wrapping your arms around her chest and pulling her closer to you, locking her in a tight embrace. 

"oh no, we definitely are sleeping," you mumbled, curling up and moving your head closer to her neck, taking in the scent of shampoo that was all over her hair. she sighed softly, not in annoyance but more in something like amusement. maybe she had planned this all along? you didn't really waste your time with that thought, because what was more important was that she finally stopped resisting and returned the hug.

"okay, but just a few more minutes..." she giggled as you subtly brushed your lips against her skin, catching it several times with your teeth before properly kissing her neck "be careful not to leave any marks there, please," she whispered in response to your more eager kisses, but you weren't sure if this was a request that could be granted...

“ugh.” you groan into your arms, slouching over the counter. “what’s the point of coming to work if there aren’t going to be any customers?” 

your coworker, kazuha, used to your antics, only chuckles as he continues drying the washed coffee cups. “well, it can’t be helped that they built that new café right across the street.” 

“which genius decided that would be a good idea…” your voice is muffled as you bury your head further into your crossed arms. “what happened to customer loyalty…” you complain further, while kazuha offers a sympathetic head pat.

“that’s it!” you huff, standing up to untie your apron. “this is war.” 

kazuha can do nothing but listen as you instruct him not to leave the counter, while you yourself head to the café opposite to ‘do some research on [your] enemies’. 

“to defeat your enemy, you must become your enemy!” you’d told him with a bright grin.

“and where, pray tell, did you hear that saying from?”

“...i read it in a book.” you sheepishly admitted, “but it was a saying by someone really famous! figured i’d understand what he meant if i put it into practice.”

you’re appalled. from sago to chazuke, from hojicha to espresso, watatsumi café has everything to offer. the menu was far wider than anything your little café could ever dream of having. big plus: the barista on duty. the prettiest human you’ve ever laid eyes on. that’s if she’s not actually some mermaid in disguise or some fallen angel. sure, kazuha’s pretty cute, and you’re sure you don’t look half-bad either, but this barista – komi, from what you can make out of her nametag at this distance – she effectively wipes out any and all competition purely based on her looks. you squint a little more. oh, it’s ‘kokomi’. whoops. still a gorgeous name though. (like her.)

you don’t even notice you’ve been staring at her until it’s your turn to order. 

“hello, what would you like to have today?” kokomi beams at you, before a look of recognition dawns on her face. “oh, aren’t you the barista from the café opposite?” her beam grows impossibly wider as she slightly tilts her head. “nice to finally meet you, my beloved rival!” 

you stare again. not because of her words, no, but because of her soft melodic voice. “y-yeah, uh, i’ll have a… um, a cappuccino, thanks.”

“alright, will that be for here or for take-out?

“how ‘bout i take you out instead?” is what you manage to blurt out.

kokomi falters; the notepad in her hand falls to the floor with a light thud. 

it took 5 minutes, some furious fanning from some coworker named gorou and kazuha, (who secretly followed you because he was concerned you’d get yourself into some kind of trouble), and a couple of impatient customers behind you before either of you regained your composure.

After the idea floated around my mind for a while now, I decided to give a try to writing headcanons/short fics, specifically for Genshin Impact (with now a bit of Honkai Star Rail), with a particular focus on comfort/fluff.

I got inspired to do this after seeing how often I would turn to comfort or fluff content on tumblr, as a way to cope with the void of loneliness (sometimes overthinking too). As such, why not add my own contribution... as long as it can, hopefully, provide some relief to one person out there.

’Party Panic’

an: this fic took a while to finish so I am sorry for the wait. I will try to upload things more frequently!

Genre: gender neutral reader, comfort, collage!au, mommy issues/narcissism (reader’s side), night terrors.

TW: swearing, narcissistic mother, night terrors. Summary: it’s the start of the exam seasons. You and your flat mates plan a party after one of the exams so you can relax, but sadly after failing that test they invite mutual friend to cheer you up. Sadly things take a turn for the worst a little before the gathering.

Wanderer is referring as “Kou”

Roommates: Hu Tao, Kokomi, Xingqiu, Kujou Sara

The end of the first semester was nearing, and so were more exams. Whilst your roommates at the campus flat passed their recent exams well, you did not do so on your history one. Actually, you all were discussing a party for after the exams so you can celebrate the end of the studying for it, but when you were the only one with a lower grade, they wanted to cheer you up and invite some mutual close friends. It was warming that they wanted to do so, everything was going well, even your professor, Mr. Zhongli, gave you the chance to retake the test because he knew you could do much better . Everything was going well, but then your phone rang just as you were going thru notes before the gathering.

“Is this why I sent you to study there? For you to fail on your tests and slag off! Do you know how much it costs us to keep you there?”

your mother angrily said. “Mom, I am not slacking off, I have good grades on history! Mr. Zhongli even said I can retake the exam because he knows I could do much more!” hint of annoyance was mixed with your desperate attempt to calm your mother down, but to no avail. “This university is full of bullshit, I knew we shouldn’t have let you go there! All people there are incompetent and your teachers just don’t want to deal with you!” was the last thing she said before hanging up. “ugGH-“ you let out a loud grunt and threw your phone on the bed next to your desk. Plopping you head down to rest in the hard surface while you rethink the events that just occurred. You were frustrated enough and didn’t need another thing to be worried about. You knew all of this wasn’t true but it still got to you, even years after “growing a thicker skin”. “Fuck everything, I am taking a nap!” you cursed out loud, before sneaking into your sheets for comfort. Sadly even they couldn’t keep you calm for too long.

“Tao, look who is at the door!” Kokomi yelled out from the kitchen. “Ughh, can’t you do so? I am in the middle of something.” Hu Tao explained, as she tried to think of her next rhyme. “I couldn’t be asking you if I wasn’t busy with something myself.” Kokomi frowned, twisting her upper body to face the back of Hu Tao’s head. After realising she wasn’t going to cooperate, Kokomi sighed and turned to Xingqiu, whom was next to her, assisting for whatever was needed. “Of course” he understood what he had to do. After opening the door he was met with not only Sara that had gone to the grocery store to get some drinks (and forgot to take her keys in the process) but and some early guests. “Look who I encountered along the way.” Sara’s lips twisted in a invisible smile whilst walking inside. Chongyun, Xiangling and Heizou were following her, each with a different kind of snack, cooked or not. “Hello everyone!” Heizou saluted with a wide smile, “Thank you for having us!” Xiangling said facing Xingqiu who held the door open for them while they were coming inside. “Haven’t seen each other in a long time!” he greeted them. “We literally hanged out the other day.” Chongyun said confused, but received no answer regarding the topic. “Please put your shoes away and choose slippers that fit you.” Sara said, not carrying the drink as she’ve put some on the living room table. “Kokomi is still preparing some of the things and I need to help her, please get comfortable.” Xingqiu excused himself as he returned to the kitchen. “Could I use the fridge? The tiramisu needs to rest some more!” Xiangling followed close behind.

Time passed and so did the other guests arrived. Gorou was the next guest, he had some homemade biscuits. “They are with cinnamon, my grandma always has a batch ready before me and my brothers come for a visit.” he explained to Xiangling who was listening and gulping not only the biscuits but and his every word. Kou was the last to arrive (how in character of him). He bought some sushi that was also made by his two hand. All he said when asked ‘why did you choose to make sushi?’ was “I don’t like sweets and wanted to make something that will at least fill me.”. ‘Rude’ was everyone thought but he actually did not intend for his words to sound so harsh. Something was bothering him, Heizou could tell but when he shot the question he got a ‘nothing..’ mumbled out breathlessly. The future detective actually already knew what was wrong tho. Whenever he was around you and Kou, he would notice the glances that both of you gave to each other. ‘How cute’ he thought, leaning back on his seat next to him. “Hey, isn’t it time for [name] to join us? We don’t want them to overwork themselves.” Heizou asked everyone, and quickly turned to the grumpy looking boy once again “Why don’t you go and get them?”. “If you don’t want to I will go” Sara suggested, holding a casserole with drinks and different beverages next to them. “No” Kou rejected,  getting up from his seat “You already have to deal with the guests and I don’t mind lending a hand.”. If everyone were actually listening they’d be shocked but thankfully they were all occupied with whatever, chatting away the close-to-evening afternoon.

Entering the bedroom, he saw your sleeping form, but something wasn’t right. Your blanket was barely covering you and the room wasn’t the warmest. Kou touched your forearm and felt it cold-as-a-bone with sweat on you face. “Oi, get up. Everyone is downstairs.” He was panicking a little, slightly shaking your arm. You awoke, fear written all over your expression, bolting up and looking around you, breathing heavy. “[name], are you alright?” the boy got a hold of your shoulders, trying to get your attention. “Kou..” you shakily said wrapping your arms around him. Tears started to stream down your cheeks and wetting his blue hoodie. “[name], tell me what happened, are you okay?” he tried to get more information from you. “The shadows.. *sod*” for a while you had some night terrors, seeing some humanoid black shadow about your height. He was aware of these details because you have shared that with him. He hugged you back and started rubbing your back in an attempt to warm you up till you calmed down, rocking back and forth. “It’s okay, they aren’t real. It’s okay, here” he let go of you and stripped his hoodie over his head, revealing his black t-shirt. “Here, put your hands up.” he commanded and slipped the big cloth on you. “Thank you” you sobbed and snuggled onto him. Slowly both of you laid as he comforted you, rocking you back and forth, and eventually falling asleep. 

“Hey, were did Kou go?” somebody asked. “Oh, don’t worry he-“ “He went to wake up [name].” Sara managed to interrupt Heizou before he finished his sentence. ‘Sara, you sure don’t get the hint’ he thought looking at her with a slightly chuckle. Everything have gone silent, everyone staring at her, that was also the moment she realised what was happening and at once everyone got up and started rushing to and up the stairs. “We must be silent or else they might hear us!” Xiangling whisper-yelled to everyone. “If they didn’t already get alarmed by the horse stomping that just happened” Chongyun remarked as she smiled apologetically. As if from Scooby Doo everyone alined on the crack of the door to watch for anything going on. But there was only stillness. Hu Tao wanted to see the full picture so she slowly pushed the door open and took silent steps toward the bed to have a look at your sleeping forms. For a second she just stood there, then took out her phone and the click of her camera was heard. She looked at the photo - “Neat” Tao slyly said, but before anyone could react Kou’s arm sprang up trying to snatch her phone but didn’t succeed. “Delete it.” he demanded slowly getting up from the bed as not to disturb your sleep. “Nuh uh” the girl with twin tails refused, backing off to the door still facing him. And oh look who awoke “Oh, good morning [name]. How was your sleep?” Hu Tao asked when she noticed you. You were way too sleepy to process what was happening. “It’s morning? What about the party?” you asked, rubbing your eyes. The innocent question made some people giggle. “Come on, let’s go downstairs!” Xingqiu stepped inside the room and took a hold of your left hand dragging you away. Needless to say you all had a blast and that picture didn’t get deleted.

Thoughts on a Gorou x reader fic? Basically, reader will be related to Kokomi. However it's one of those scenarios where one sibling is always in the spotlight, but the other is just a shadow. Gorou, crushing on reader's sister, and reader crushing on him. Reader thinks that Kokomi is trying to shut them out, neglect him, as their parents did. But it's nothing like that! Kokomi just wanted to protect her little sibling from the vision decree, (Reader has a Cryo vision.) that's basically the main plot.. Or what I've thought of so far. Thoughts?

Ganyu and Shenhe know each other a bit, but Ganyu takes this as an opportunity to get closer to her and make her feel more welcome in the Liyue community

Ayato and Kokomi didn't really interact, so when the do on the team they greet each other formally both being leaders of sorts in Inazuma

Kokomi and Shenhe both have a bit of trouble communicating with others, so it is a little awkward at first

They are all kind of the more reserved/composed type so it does make it more comfortable for them to get into a conversation

Shenhe and Ayato both sparring and training together

They'd all be so good in defeating monsters, not only with the freeze but the fact that they're all skilled, trained, and are strategic with their moves

Ok wait actually I'm realizing this whole team is a bunch of workaholics...

They do need to do their duties, but I feel like one seeing the others so exhausted results in all of them taking breaks or at least doing something not work related

Part of me wants to say they bond over talking peaceful walks out in nature, but I'm also realizing how intimidating that must look from an outsider if you knew their status LMAO (but yes, nice walks <3)

Ayato likes to make note of others' food preferences, so when Ganyu tells him she likes eating qingxin he decides to try making a qingxin flavoured milk tea...

"Hmm, looks like qingxin doesn't really work... I'll use this in the hot pot game instead."

Lantern Rite:

Because it takes place in Liyue, Ganyu and Shenhe make sure to take the other two to experience the best things

Taking them to different stalls, Kokomi looking for things that her soldiers and/or Gorou would like and Ayato finding accessories for his sister

Shenhe finding a mountain near the harbour as a nice spot for them to release their lanterns

And end off the night with Yunjin's opera performance with fireworks going off in the background
