It was a great incentive to do well in school, but for a die hard baseball fan like myself it meant everything!  I got to see Mel Gray, Lou Brock, Ozzie Smith, Bob…

I refuse to believe the reference to Sam in Minuet in Hell is Samson Griffin, that is Sam Jones and no one can convince me otherwise.

Gideon Crane tests the Doctor by listing a range of his former companions — "Charley, Sam, Ace, Evelyn, Nyssa, Romana, Sarah Jane, Jamie, Polly, Ian, Barbara and Susan... dear, dear Susan."

In this list of gods amongst companions, why would he include what amounts to a plot device. Sam Jones however has narrative impact and is a major part of the EDAs.

Peter Pan/pied piper/white rabbit metaphor for eight is absolutely elite. He seduces you into flying away with him. He's the one who leads you astray. It's fun for a while, it's lovely. Then you get to know him, and he is one of the most powerful and careless people in the universe, but becoming dependent on him feels like the most natural thing in the world, like dancing. It's all fine while he's still holding your hand. You won't even realize you're about to die until he lets you go.
