General Hospital Alum and Primetime MVP Dead at 45

“What a beautiful, bright light we lost today.”

Multiple fandoms are mourning the passing of much-loved actress Annie Wersching. To General Hospital fans, she was Amelia Joffe. Viewers of Star Trek: Picard knew her as the Borg Queen. And Vampire Diary lovers know her Lily was the mother of the Salvatore brothers.

It is a testament to her strength, determination and talent that even many of those who worked with her in recent years had no idea that Wersching was fighting cancer.

“What a beautiful, bright light we lost today,” tweeted Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine, Star Trek: Picard). “I’m so lucky to have had the chance to work and play with [her]. My heart breaks for her beautiful family and everyone who was lucky enough to know her.”

It would be almost impossible to list all of the roles in which Wersching made a lasting impression. Apart from those previously mentioned, she also captivated viewers in parts both big (Agent Reese Walker, 24) and small (name a show, and it’s likely she did a guest gig).

But for daytime fans, she’ll always be remembered as fictional General Hospital TV producer Amelia, who came to town seeking vengeance against Kelly Monaco’s Sam, who’d seduced and killed her father years earlier. Eventually, it would be revealed that Sam (using the name Angela Monroe) killed Amelia’s abusive dad in self-defense.

Despite only appearing on General Hospital for six short months, Joffe made a long-lasting impression with viewers, many of whom happily tracked every step of her career.

Although diagnosed with cancer in 2020, many in Wersching’s circle did not know of her health crisis. On a Go Fund Me page friend and former co-star Ever Carradine created to help support Wersching’s husband, Steve, and their sons — Freddie, Ozzie and Archie —  she wrote: “She wanted to protect her boys. She wanted to get better so she could continue working. And honestly, she just didn’t really want to talk about it. She wanted to live her life, on her terms, and be with her family.”

More new F1 team bids expected but process will take several months | 2023 F1 season

Yesterday’s announcement from Andretti and Cadillac that they intend to submit an entry to compete in Formula 1 is expected to be the first of several. An F1 spokesperson said yesterday there is “great interest” in the series at the moment. However it is unlikely any new teams will arrive before 2026, when F1 will introduce new power unit rules and changes to the chassis regulations. In addition to the Andretti-Cadillac entry, other potential entrants have emerged in recent years. Former SMP Racing managing director Benjamin Durand founded a project with Michael Orts called Panthera Team Asia F1, details of which emerged in 2019. The pair set up a temporary headquarters at Silverstone and brought former F1 designer Tim Milne on board. They originally hoped to enter F1 when new technical regulations were introduced in 2021, but these were postponed by a year due to the pandemic, and the FIA did not commence a tender process for new team to enter. Another new F1 hopeful emerged during 2019. Monaco Increase Management Group CEO Salvatore Gandolfo announced plans to enter under the name Monaco F1 Racing Team. The team was to use the facilities of junior formula team Campos and MIM-run drivers Pascal Wehrlein and Alex Palou were named as potential drivers. More recently Canadian billionaire and motorsports fan Calvin Lo has spoken of his desire to set up an F1 team. Messina: presentate le iniziative promosse dall'Amministrazione comunale per la V edizione della "Settimana nazionale della Protezione Civile". La Settimana nazionale della Protezione Civile si svolge dal 9 Ottobre sino al 15 Ottobre. Il comune di Messina ha aderito anche quest'anno alla V edizione della Settimana nazionale della Protezione civile con un programma di eventi illustrato ieri a palazzo Zanca, alla presenza del vicesindaco Salvatore Mondello e dell'assessore alla Protezione Civile Massimiliano Minutoli, nel corso di una conferenza stampa, cui hanno partecipato, tra gli altri, i dirigenti, del Servizio regionale di Protezione Civile Bruno Manfrè, e del comune Antonio Cardia. "Gli eventi calamitosi non sono prevedibili – ha dichiarato il vicesindaco Mondello – ma la prevenzione è un elemento fondamentale per non farsi trovare impreparati e affrontarli per quanto possibile nel miglior modo. Si tratta quindi di attività fondamentali in un territorio cittadino e provinciale come il nostro che si espone a varie criticità. Conoscere le problematiche esistenti e creare a priori le condizioni di prevenzione è indispensabile in quanto, dopo un evento, purtroppo si possono classificare soltanto i danni. L'attivazione delle sirene, prevista dal programma, significa avvertimento e quindi rientra nella prevenzione". Dal 16 al 21 ottobre si svolgerà la tradizionale Settimana della Sicurezza, giunta alla 12sima edizione, con un programma variegato; ringrazio gli uffici comunali che hanno predisposto il documento di impianto e le associazioni di volontariato, il cui contributo è fondamentale per una buona riuscita delle esercitazioni". L'ing. Manfrè ha sottolineato "l'importanza dell'iniziativa presentata in quanto l'esercitazione permette di capire se la popolazione segue e comprende le procedure da mettere in atto". All'incontro con la stampa hanno preso parte gli esperti comunali del settore, rispettivamente l'ing. Y/n sighed as she cleaned the counter with a damp towel. She kept looking over her shoulder and back at the front door. “Louis is on his way. I can’t-“

“You can’t or he won’t let you? C’mon, Y/n, you deserve better.”

“I can’t.” She huffed as she rushed to finish off a quick chicken dish so it could be ready when her boyfriend arrived. “How ‘bout we go out tomorrow for lunch? I’ll call you later, promise-“

“Call who?” Louis's voice interrupted her mid-sentence. She hadn’t realized he arrived and she quickly hung up on Y/b/f.

“Y/b/f. She just wanted to hang out and-“

“That’s why you’re dressed like a whore?”

“I-I was about to ch-“

“Change into another slutty outfit?”

Y/n let out a sigh, keeping her gaze on the floor. She could feel Louis’ harsh stare as she turned off the stove and grabbed him a plate. Fortunately, he wasn’t so frustrated after work so he wasn’t as mean to her as usual.

Still, she felt tired of everything. She felt tired of constantly being paranoid. She hated how every word of his left her a mental scar. She hated how sometimes she had to wear sweaters in warm weather to cover up the black and purple marks on her skin. She was just tired.

Y/n glanced at him as she served the food on his plate. In the back of her mind, she knew Y/b/f was right and she was already thinking of the perfect time to leave him.

Y/n held onto her Dior tote bag as she strolled down the streets of Monaco. She was killing time in the shops before having lunch with Y/b/f and a couple of other girls to celebrate her best friend's engagement.

Y/b/f had instructed them to wear white so Y/n wore a short white sundress. She had an iced latte in her hand, glancing through the window of various boutiques and designer stores.

The summer was hot but she didn’t mind it. She spent the past week working on her tan, eating soft ice cream, and enjoying her week off.

She was lost in her thoughts when before she knew it, she suddenly bumped into what she thought was a wall until she heard a panicked voice. “Oh, fuck! Are you okay?”

The collision had caused her to spill her latte all over her white dress, staining it brown. She let out a chuckle as she looked down at the stain and at the empty plastic cup. “I’m fine. I wasn’t paying attention! Sorry for that.”

Y/n glanced up and was met with probably one of the most beautiful men she had ever seen. His deep brown, almost black eyes were filled with concern as he looked her over. He ran his fingers through his jet-black hair before running his hands over his equally jet-black stubble.

“I’ll-i’ll buy you a new dress! Where’d you get it from?”

“I said don’t worry! It’s a pricey dress anyway.” She said with a smile but that didn’t seem to satisfy him.

“No, please, let me. I can afford it. I’ll even get you another latte.”

“You won’t drop this will you?”

His lips curled into a smile as he shook his head. “Nope!” He said with a shrug. “But the least you could do is give me your name.”

She shook her head slightly and laughed as she holds her hand out. “Y/n, and you must be?”

“Esteban.”

“Bonjour. Good morning.”

Esteban’s soft voice woke Y/n up from her deep slumber. Her vision was still blurry as she slowly sat up against the bed, rubbing her eyes and letting her vision get used to the bright lights.

She realized that he stood in front of her with a tray in his hands. Once her vision cleared up, she noticed the iced latte and a croissant with a small candle resting in the middle of the tray.

“Joyeux Anniversaire, chérie.” [happy birthday, dear.] Esteban whispers, sitting beside her on the bed. He kissed her forehead as she took the tray from him. “Now make a wish.”

A small pout decorated her lips as she looked down at the candle. He purposely picked a pink candle knowing that it was her favorite color. Something her ex-boyfriend never bothered learning about in their 3 years of dating.

A panicked look appeared on Esteban’s face when he noticed Y/n’s eyes fill with tears as her bottom lip quivered. “Chérie? What’s wrong? Shouldn’t you be happy on your birthday?” He asked, his voice filled with concern. He reached over and fixed her bed hair.

“I am happy.” She replied while tears streamed down her cheek. She lifts up the tray and softly blows the candle out. She turns to look at her now boyfriend of nearly 3 years with a wide smile on her voice.

“I just never had anyone care for me like you have, Estie.” She whispered as she set the tray on the bedside table. He wraps his arm around her shoulder, tucking her into his arms. “You’re my salvatore. [savior] You saved me. I didn’t even need to make a wish because you’re all I’ve ever wanted. You’re the best thing in my life.”

Esteban places his finger under her chin, causing her to look up into his deep brown eyes. He leans down and places a gentle kiss on her lips. He whispered against her lips, “I’ll always be your salvatore.”

Con il patrocinio dell’Amministrazione Comunale, si è inaugurata la mostra collettiva di pittura “Figurazione materica”, a cura di Rosario Pinto. 37 artisti campani o «di estrazione campana, che, negli ultimi 80 anni, si sono distinti nel particolare segmento della pittura figurativa nella sua specifica accezione materica», si legge sul retro della locandina. La mostra sarà visitabile fino al 1° ottobre 2023, ogni venerdì e sabato dalle ore 17,00 alle 20,00. Domeniche e festivi dalle ore 10,00 alle 13,00 e dalle 17,00 alle 20,30. Ma chi sono questi pittori? Non potendo citarli tutti, per non stilare un elenco della spesa (comunque sono citati nell’immagine di copertina), citiamo almeno Antonio Ciraci, il quale per la “Sala dell’Ostrichina”, espleta le funzioni di direttore artistico; poi una citazione va fatta per quelli “storicizzati”, e vale a dire Luigi Crisconio, Emilio Notte, Franco Girosi, Salvatore Vitagliano, Raffaele Lippi, Rubens Capaldo ed Enrico Cajati. Una citazione meritano anche Vincenzo Aulitto (uno dei pochi flegrei presenti, scomparso da qualche anno), Gennaro Ippolito, promotore con Giovanna Donnarumma dello spazio d’arte “Lineadarte” di Napoli (la stessa promuoverà il 1° giugno alle ore 17,30, nello stesso Parco del Fusaro, ma alla Casina Vanvitelliana, la IV Biennale del Libro d’Artista 2023, ideata e curata dai due promotore dell’Officina Creativa napoletana, con il patrocinio della Regione Campania e del Comune di Bacoli, e la collaborazione attiva del Comune di Procida e della Biblioteca Comunale dell’Isola di Arturo) e Gloria Pastore, una delle poche artiste presenti che hanno interessato la nostra piacevole curiosità, con un’opera molto vicina alla poesia visiva piuttosto che a quella figurativa. Non mancano presenze femminili, poche in verità: oltre alla citata Pastore, Tonia Erbino, Consiglia Giovine, Alessandra Maisto, Adele Monaco, Maria Sara Pistilli. In un’epoca dove non esistono più gruppi correnti movimenti, nonostante la maggior parte degli artisti, in generale, rispecchiano l’andamento negativo della società odierna, in cui l’individualismo la fa da padrone, il vernissage di giovedì è riuscito a coinvolgere un buon numero di visitatori, raccogliendo un discreto successo. Ma che cos’è la figurazione materica? Come si rapportano le opere esposte con essa? Basta semplicemente l’ispessimento del colore, dei pigmenti, delle pennellate, cioè con una più accentuata consistenza materica sulla tela o ci sono altri fattori che la determinano? Secondo il curatore Rosario Pinto, non basta, o meglio non è «il solo “grumo” ispessito del pigmento ad accreditare la tenuta “carica materica”, giacché questa può trovare ancoraggio e fondazione anche nella sola notazione di un addensamento del “segno”» (Le ragioni della figurazione materica). Allora cosa? Cos’altro scende in campo per determinarla? Prima occorre – secondo il buon Rosario Pinto – «affermare che la consistenza “materica” costituisce un dato di ancoraggio irrinunciabile per la pratica artistica, al di là del fatto che essa si configuri di caratura iconica o aniconica» (ibid.). È sufficiente come spiegazione? Ovviamente no, almeno per noi, visto che qualsiasi figurazione sulla tela è supportata dalla materia, dai tempi memori; anche un semplice, o meglio, meno carico strato di pittura è già materia, ispessita o non ispessita. Quindi, perché definire una figurazione in “figurazione materica”? In base alla quantità maggiore di pigmenti addensati sulla tela? Semmai, visto che sono il gesto e la creatività a definire un atto artistico, sia esso figurativo o informale, e no una consistenza materica, perché non parlare – nel caso del figurativo – semplicemente di “arte figurativa”? In futuro il critico ci sbalordirà, conoscendo la sua ottima preparazione e serietà, facendoci cambiare idea? Ci auguriamo di sì, per ora restiamo in attesa di poterci capire di più, e viva l’arte. her introduction

she wants to be more than pawn. Luciana is the youngest in a family of 5. she is the only girl so it is pretty obvious why she spent quite a lot of time being trained to be “the perfect wife”. ever since she turned 18, she has been pawned off to different princes and she hated it with every fiber of her being. when an arranged engagement is thrown way, the first thought that pops in her head “is there really nothing else I can do?”.

she wants to make a difference despite not being the heir to the throne. ever since she was a child, she spent time with those her parents refer to as “their people” and grew to love them. as each day passed, her desire to help them out became stronger. having such a small chance of being queen did not get in the way of that. she studied well in both highschool and college, and here she is now , five years later, with a degree in art history & archaelogy, latin honors, and a personal mission to give back to the community that taught her to love life.

she enjoys being “free”. out of anger towards the way the system works, she argued with her parents a lot, especially her mother. she didn’t follow the rules they imposed on her, answered back whenever they would yell at her, snuck out of galas whenever the opportunity presents itself, and lived her life the way she wanted to (at least to the extent that she was able to).

she wants to make the most out of the time she has with her siblings. she was 20 when her father died, 22 when she witnessed her second oldest brother get shot during their family masquerade ball, and 23 when she watched her youngest brother get a minor head injury as they were trying to get to a safe area after the earthquake. the latter two experienced caused her to have PTSD, and the nightmares that she had made it difficult for her to sleep. now, she has this fear that she’d wake up to the news that one of her siblings is gone and would like to be with them as possible before that becomes a reality.

she wants to be there for her little sister. growing up, there were so many times when she felt alone despite having four brothers. it wasn’t a good feeling, and she didn’t want her little sister to ever feel that way. with that in mind and with her mother currently not in the picture due to being on trial, she was quick to to volunteer to have the youngest Savoy stay with her. taking care of Noe may be such a big and tiring responsibility but she doesn’t care.

she wants to be loved. it is not obvious but she believes in love and happy endings. of all the things that life has taught her, her favorite lesson is that everyone deserves a chance at that and despite going through engagement after engagement the past 5 years, she still had hope that she would be given that chance.

where has Luci been since we last saw here here?

After everything that happened to her the in the past two years, she felt in need of a break from the program so she just packed her bags one day and left. Stayed in Monaco for a month (shoutout to you, Biel! thanks for letting her stay in your place), flew to Italy and spent some time with Teo, then stayed in her secret spot in Italy these past two months, all while still working closely with her charity organization. Throughout her time away, nothing was heard from her or about her. She would send occasional updates to her siblings, Biel & Nat but that’s it.
