Episode 23 "A taste of Armageddon"

This was definitely one of my favorite episodes so far. Without a doubt the first one where just the concept of it made my jaw drop. When they reveal how the "victims" of the computer attacks would just go be disintegrated for the war ...It really hit me. I found it deeply unsettling. These days, I could see it being the plot of a Black Mirror episode.

And it's so currently relevant too! Of course it had its own reference to real life events at the time, but the Idea that removing the horror and destruction from war means losing the deterrent to not have/make war, there's so much it could be applied to nowadays.

So yeah, I could talk about all the ideas I had about it but this post would be too long (let me know if you would be interested in that???), but the point is: I thought it was really good. Even the writing of women characters wasn't too offensive this time (not great by any means, but not terrible). Tamura, my beloved! You'll go far!

On a lighter note: I like how this episode was Scotty's time to shine, we got to see a bit more of him and he did great.

I'm always so intrigued by sets and costumes! The suit on the diplomat was awesome. I also feel like they often plan for men to be half naked too but then somehow end up wearing black turtlenecks.

When they write Spock sassy I fall in love with him a little deeper ("there's a creature on your shoulder" Iconic!). Never as deep as Kirk watching him telepathically caress a door with eyes that say "I wish I was a door right now".

Also I loved how Kirk knows that Spock is uncomfortable with killing, so he took a moment to check with him about how they might find themselves in a situation where it would be necessary to kill, making sure he was alright with it and silently apologizing for it. A quick but meaningful moment to me.

When the fight is over, before they go back to the ship, there's a moment when Spock and Kirk stand side by side contemplating their victory. I just wished they could hold hands there. They were so close anyway.

I know this episode is famous for the Miracle quote, and rightly so. But there's so much more to it! That to me is just the cherry on top.

Dark Frontier should have had an ending scene where after Seven returned to the ship and she's self-conscious about having 'betrayed' Voyager and whether or not the crew trust her (they retrieved her on Janeway's orders but her orders don't always match the feelings of the crew itself), thinking of Tom's comment, thinking of what she was a part of, she stumbles upon B'Elanna. They're both working well past the time to do so. Seven tenses up because B'Elanna looks irritated but she just goes into business as usual about mistakes in Seven's work (probably because she needs to regenerate!) and how much time and energy it took to find her and Seven apologizes for the inconvenience (sarcastically) and B'Elanna accepts her apology then she smirks, staring at Seven. Seven looks unsure about what this means. B'Elanna reaches up and clasps her shoulder. "Good to have you back, Seven." she says. Upon Seven's nod of acknowledgement, she leaves, calling over her shoulder "Get some rest!" threatening that she'll be back in the morning with more corrections if she doesn't. Seven stares after her for a moment. She continues to work. She pauses. She turns around and gets onto her alcove, beginning to regenerate.
