A somewhat forgotten type that served the RAF well for 30 years, the Handley Page Hastings.

Sharing airframe parts with the Halifax bomber, it flew in the 1948 Berlin Air Lift and (as seen here) ended service life as a V-bomber radar navigator trainer in the late 1970s.

B-17F Trainer from Rapid City Army Air Base, South Dakota by TK622 Via Flickr: A unidentified B-17F from the Rapid City Army Air Base (Tail Code RC) in flight. At Rapid City B-17 crews were trained for deployment to Europe. Now it is called Ellsworth Air Force Base and is still home to bomber units. Ellsworth AFB was selected to be the preferred base for the B-21 Raider stealth bomber. Some surface damage was edited out of the photo, those edits only affected the sky and a bit of the ground.
