I feel as though this article does not adequately explain what circumstances led to this man having over 1000 domesticated mice

I'm not crying on my lunch break, you are.
I found a Sacramento news segment of my dog before I adopted her in Canada (my girl has travelled). This video is from April 4th 2024 and I officially adopted her December 5th, almost exactly 7 months before I became her furever home!

It's easy to feel anger about the reasons animals were surrendered to the SPCA, but it's counterproductive and sort of like virtue signaling. Yes, the animal was "too active" for them, or whatever it was.
They still did the right thing by surrendering the pet instead of abandoning it. Maybe I think the reasons my cat got sent back to the pound (twice) weren't good, but the still did the right thing! They send the cat somewhere safe. And now I have her, and we're a good fit for each other's lives.

I want to name a cat Catalytic Converter but shorten it to Cece (CC?). Omg … what if they have a sibling named Closed Captioning.

Laura Boisvert has had her four-year-old Samoyed, called Mama Bear, since it was a puppy.
She rents her apartment and, according to her, before the dog was allowed she had to promise her landlord that she’d bring Mama Bear and her other dog to work with her.
“For him to know that they weren’t going to bark during the day or that they weren’t going to do damage to the apartment,” she explained.
She’s lucky, but pet advocates say too many Quebec tenants aren’t.
That’s why, as moving season approaches, the Montreal SPCA and Québec solidaire are urging the provincial government to ban no-pet clauses in residential lease agreements. [...]

NONSURGICAL, EASY TO USE, INEXPENSIVE, PET CONTRACEPTION PRODUCTS. by Celine Szoges Via Flickr: Domesticated animals have always been with us, providing support and companionship. The staggering stray dog and cat overpopulation around the world now asks for your help before they are caught for the dog and cat meat trade. Dogs and Cats need nonsurgical, easy-to-use, inexpensive contraception products. Please sign our petition and follow the Alliance for Contraception in Cats and Dogs. Thank you.

Always happy to partner with the Florida Keys SPCA in helping out a Ball Python that was found outside of a laundry room at Porter Place and brought to our center. Thanks to the SPCA and Animal Control Officer Conni for picking up what is most likely an escaped pet and getting the snake safely into care. Thanks to all involved!
