I'm planning to finally try reading at home again, because I know there's not much left in my book. There's like 100 pages in the Lost Hero left, so i want to finish it. I'm just getting to the scenes at Jack London's (an awful eugenics supporter) wolf house. So there's not much left, and I want/need to try and finish it. Because i feel like it shouldn't take me two months to finish one book! It's making me feel like I don't do enough, so i'm trying to pressure myself into reading it at home today. sigh...

I can't even guarantee i'll successfully read at home. But if I don't manage to read at home, i'll feel intense self hatred. Because it indicates that school is the only place where i can successfully read physical books, and that makes me feel very, very scared for leaving high school this year. Because sure, i'll still be able to read online articles and comics and potentially fanfiction. But i won't be able to read my physical books! That's a big deal to me! So I have to try and read soon, and I have to pray I can at least finish one stupid page before my attention span leaves me!

I love tornado survival guides. "Shelter in a basement or interior room without any windows. But if you're in a mobile home, just fucking die I guess lol"

#did you know over half of deaths caused by tornados are residents of mobile homes?#which also means that they're primarily poor and elderly and disabled people #most places have absolutely no requirements for trailer parks to have safe shelter for residents during a tornado #personal tornado shelters cost $5000+ and many of them can't be installed in trailer parks because of neighborhood rules #and many parks are so isolated that going to find shelter somewhere else isn't safe or possible #it's safer to shelter inside a ditch outside than to stay in a mobile home during a tornado #and yet there's next to no effort to change laws to make trailer parks safer especially in emergencies #or even make other housing more accessible and available so people don't have to live in homes made of tissue paper #there's no tornado happening i'm just stressed
