okay i may be completely wrong but in rtte ep edge of disaster part one when astrid and ruffnut are fighting

when astrid says “you just come up with these crazy ideas” and she makes her voice go all raspy and gritty

she was mocking ruffnut’s vocal fry.

she was literally making fun of the way ruff’s voice sounds im gonna screech

I was gonna post some storyboard scenes, but I only drew, like, three, and I like to post them in sets of more than that. So, instead, have a little doodle I did ages ago and then didn’t post at all because…i dunno

Madeline thinks that Ruffnut is the absolute coolest person ever. She’s got a little baby idol crush on her. She squeals like a fan girl every time she sees Ruffnut, bounces for joy whenever the Dark Orca pirates have to work with the Dragon Riders for whatever reason, she’ll grab Ruffnut’s hand shouting ‘DIBS’ if they have to split up. Because to Madeline, Ruffnut’s the most amazing girl ever.

Because how could Ruffnut not be the coolest person ever? Madeline doesn’t see how people don’t think so. Look at Ruffnut! She’s got awesome hair. She rides a dragon, and an awesome one at that. She’s amazing at sabotage and pranks. She mouths off to any and all authority. She asserts her femininity every time someone assumes she’s a dude. She kicks peoples butts wearing skirts, and broke someone’s nose over a dress during a big sale at a market. AND, she knows stuff about Tidal Class Dragons! Madeline’s absolute most favorite class of dragon of all time! Immediately Ruffnut is the coolest person ever, with Ant being Madeline’s eventual second favorite Dragon Rider, because he’s around her age, her sabotage buddy, and he rides a Night Fury. Which is cool, Madeline supposes. But not as cool as Ruffnut-

It happened spontaneously, but I love AU. So… Avatar Hiccup. Hiccup considered himself an ordinary person before meeting Toothless. (Dragons can be equated to spirits, i mean relationships between people and them). Then he discovered his talent as an airbender and Toothless became his teacher. Later, other talents were discovered, which made it clear that Hiccup was an avatar.

Astrid became his waterbender teacher. Snotlout was an adept of firebender, but he sincerely did not understand how to teach, because he himself used magic on a subconscious level. Fishlegs is an earthbender, but he did not go beyond the amateur level and could not become a teacher. The twins are always on their own wave. Ruffnut is a master in airbending and can perform techniques with clouds of gas, while Tuffnut is not a master, but is ready to set fire to the gas with his sparks at any moment. The twins always come in a set.

Brothers Grimborn! Lord of Fire Viggo. The aesthetics of blue flame and lightning were created for him. So I couldn't resist. The hottest flame and deadly techniques of lightningbending made him the most terrible opponent for the young avatar, but in the future, he will become the teacher of fire magic for Hiccup. I endowed Riker with explosion magic, as for me, it suits him perfectly. An explosive mixture of rage and bloodlust.

Berserkers! Remembering Viggo's words about how the berserkers in ancient times lured the Skrills with metal, I thought about a tribe practicing metalbending. Dagur discovered his talent for earth magic much later, including metal. I like to think that Dagur could be a threat to the avatar even as an ordinary person, relying on his ingenuity and physical strength. Heather is a master of earth and metal magic, she could well become Hiccup's teacher in this matter.

hiccup has a whole little speech that he periodically gives astrid to remind her that the twins serve a purpose

Howdy Train Your Dragon??

HEAVILY INSPIRED from @tragisbawls western AU and also I believe that one “Howdy Train Your Dragon” post by @wardenofdragons

please let me know if I’ve made any mistakes in crediting but these guy’s posts were my main inspiration fr

enjoy some WIPs, currently I’m making them for reference so I can draw the gang doing some scenes

might have gone a bit insane over the festive season and fallen head first into this western AU. basically everything is the same but instead of Vikings it’s cowboys! I’m gonna colour these all and want to do more art/drawings of this too bc it has been occupying my thoughts lol

- set in a fictional Old West, similar to how the canon treats Viking lore and accuracy, assume this is the same 😂

- in this AU, Hiccup loses his leg before he meets Toothless in some sort of stampede/horse-related accident, which makes Stoic, the cheif of the town, more protective of him/not want him to go near them

- Hiccup finds Toothless as a wild mustang, trapped in a gorge. Hijinx ensue, Hiccup saves him, and they bond.

-Hiccup and Fishlegs live in the same town. Astrid, Lout, Ruff and Tuff are part of a group of travelling cowboys from out of town or somethin lol. Something happens and Legs and Hic have to travel with them for a bit. Haven’t worked everything out yet but if people have ideas feel free to let me know!

- Ruff and Tuff are in charge of the supplies wagon and they often confuse Barf & Belch with their arguing. The poor horses go in different directions or one of them might stop while the other keeps going 😭

- Meatlug is usually seen pulling a little wagon with extra supplies/Fishlegs rides in the wagon sometimes when they go on adventures so she ends up being the slowest in the group, similar to how she is the slowest of the gang’s dragons

- Hookfang is an Arabian horse and he has a really firey temper and has a similar relationship to Snotlout as in the canon. Snotlout made Hookfang rear up on his hind legs once, but Snotlout fell off and Hookfang left him in the dust 💀

- Astrid is the leader of the cowboys. Stormfly has little braids in her mane as that’s Astrid’s way of showing affection.
