     Since we’re dealing with a full moon in direct Aries, I won’t be around the bush: this full moon is going to hurt. Mostly because of the tetchy interactions with Chiron in Aries and Mars in Cancer, both of which may leave you feeling more perturbed than harmony-loving Libra Season would like, and the ruthless head-butt to Pluto in Capricorn, which dredges up something from the underworld of yourself. 

     That’s not to fear-monger; it’s to be real. Because as much as I want this October 2024 full moon in Aries to be amazing, it really looks aggravating. And exhausting. From here, it looks like a tense, shit-show sandwich complete with a provocation from someone that is sure to raise your cortisol levels, prompt you to lash out, and later (if not immediately) regret it. All of which is exhausting. But all of that can also be avoided if you release the heat, and release the pain.

   Thursday’s full moon in Aries is a continuation of the new beginnings / new chapters of the Aries solar eclipse on April 8. It’s marking a conclusion, culmination, and/or peak moment in this Aries storyline; and it has a lot to do with independence, leadership, self-belief, and courage. US outpost FAB220 Antarctica

It was a cold(It's always freezing down there anyway) and a blizzard was raging outside through the frozen wastes of Antarctica.The outpost sat there as if defying this harsh wasteland and showing that no matter the condition and weather, it can still be possible to live in it.

Ben, who from a young age was fascinated in the Poles and always wished to one day be at the South Pole and research it. It was so fascinating how even here at the bottom of the world there was life…and mysteries…he was always intrigued by snow and ice. It had that magic and fun to it…one that never left him.

He was playing with his paddleball while Jerry was playing on the computer,they studied together and shared some fascinations,like they played chess every now and again between each other and Ben would usually win as he used to be a champ, but Jerry was less interested in the day to day workings of the outpost and of the pole.It was lonely there…

It was quiet save for the playing music(-).Ben had just made himself a burger when suddenly…one of their machines started beeping,Ben was surprised and rushed to investigate.

Ben was in a mix of shock and surprise”Hey ,Jerry you might want to check this out ,Palomar just picked up something,and it's heading this way!”

Jerry:”How many times have I gotta tell you that we don't pick important stuff up and never will……Woah..”

Jerry was shocked this was completely different from anything he had ever seen,this was serious!And he was nervous,while checking the readings and computers. This was the big moment and he was breaking up under the pressure of it all.

“Its energy signature is massive!”Ben swiftly added.

Jerry lost it.”HOLY CHEZ-ITZ what do we? They never told us what to do ,the only reason I took the job was because I THOUGHT IT WAS EASY!!!!”

“Jerry stop it, I'm calculating its impact point…...California!Ben said in fright.”

Jerry swiftly reached for the phone”Hello Supernova?This is Red Dwarf we have one, we actually have one!Code Nimoy!I repeat

CODE NIMOY!!”

And so it begins.........(also were back in antartica....after that scene with pitch...but this happens years later and far more is at stake!)

So yes Ben the kid that was in the Burgess Observer is back!I made it because Jack winter magic just had such a good effect on him,one that he never lost and inspired him for his future.Just kind of wholesome.

Colleen Nivingalok: "The tattoos on my face represent my family and me. The lines on my chin are my four children -- my two older boys on the outside protecting my daughters. The lines on my cheeks represent the two boys and the two girls on either side. The one on my forehead represents their father and me. Together, we live for our children."

Doreen Ayalikyoak Evyagotailak: "I have thought about getting traditional tattoos since I was a teenager. . . . When I asked the elders if I could have my own meaning for my tattoos, they said it wouldn't matter. My tattoos symbolize my kids."

Mary Angele Takletok: "I always wanted traditional tattoos like the women in the old days. I wanted them on my wrists and my fingers so I could show I'm Inuk."

Melissa MacDonald Hinanik: "As a part of celebrating my heritage and revitalizing important traditional customs that form my identity, I believe I have earned my tattoos. I am a beautiful, strong young woman. I am a mother, a wife, a daughter, a friend, and an active community member. I reclaim the traditional customs as mine, I re-own them as a part of who I am."

Star Westwood: "We still have some of our culture, but some things are slowly dying. Having tattoos helps us keep our culture alive. . . . . My tattoos represent my dad and my dad's dad. The ones closest to my wrists represent my sisters."

National Tattoo Day

July 17 is National Tattoo Day. To celebrate, we present some images from Reawakening Our Ancestors' Lines: Revitalizing Inuit Traditional Tattooing, compiled by Angela Hovak Johnston, co-founder with Marjorie Tahbone of the Inuit Tattoo Revitalization Project, with photographs by Inuit photographer Cora DeVos, and published in Iqaluit, Nunavut by Inhabit Media Inc. in 2017.

For thousands of years, Inuit have practiced the traditional art of tattooing. Created the ancient way, with bone needles and caribou sinew soaked in seal oil, sod, or soot, these tattoos were an important tradition for many Inuit women, symbols etched on their skin that connected them to their families and communities. But with the rise of missionaries and residential schools in the North, the tradition of tattooing was almost lost. In 2005, when Angela Hovak Johnston heard that the last Inuk woman tattooed in the old way had died, she set out to tattoo herself in tribute to this ancient custom and learn how to tattoo others. What was at first a personal quest became a project to bring the art of traditional tattooing back to Inuit women across Nunavut.

Collected in this book are photos and stories from more than two dozen women who participated in Johnston's project. Together, these women have united to bring to life an ancient tradition, reawakening their ancestors' lines and sharing this knowledge with future generations. Hovak Johnston writes: "Never again will these Inuit traditions be close to extinction, or only a part of history you read about in books. This is my mission."

Reawakening Our Ancestors' Lines forms part of our Indigenous America Literature Collection.
