New Year’s Eve Cleaning🏠

With the new year literally right around the corner, I love to clean my home and self both physically and spiritually! Here are some of the things that I do💞

1. Clean up your home! This includes;

- Doing all of your dirty laundry. Fold and hang up all of your clothes after each load and do not leave them in the laundry basket🧺

- Clean your floors. I clean mine in this order: vacuum/sweep and then mop/carpet clean.

- Change and wash your sheets. It’ll feel nice going into the new year with a fresh, clean bed.

- Put objects in their rightful spot. You’ll feel so good after being able to find everything and your home will look much more neat.

- Get rid of damaged, old or unused clothes/items in your home.

2. Journaling

Write down all of the things that you want to release and/or work on going into the new year e.g being late, negative mindset, anxious attachment etc. Your cleansing your mind of anything that no longer serves you!

3. Cleanse and protect your energy🧚🏾

Smoke cleanse your space with incense or by burning herbs (Please leave the sage alone! Many Indigenous peoples use it for their smudging rituals).

You can use herbs like lavender, bay leaves, thyme and eucalyptus!

Make sure you open up your windows to allow any negative energy to exit your home! Think about what you’re releasing and what kind of energy you want to bring in.

If you like using crystals, cleanse them as well💞

I also love using a diffuser with my favourite essential oils (sweet orange, peppermint, lavender).

4. Cleanse your body🫧

I love taking an everything shower on NYE to feel brand new going into the new year!

- Use a body scrub/shower gloves to exfoliate your skin and have it feeling baby soft.

- Wash your hair and body!

- Shave or wax if you like being hair free.

- Clean under your toe nails with a toenail brush and clip your nails after your shower. Use a pumice stone to remove dead skin from the soles of your feet!

- Moisturize with your favourite moisturizer and lotions ( i love using cocoa butter and renpure lavender and honey body lotion).

- Use deodorant and use your sprays and body oils if you’d like!

This is everything I personally like to do on NYE prior to the New Year so hopefully this is helpful to anyone interested in doing something similar.

omg what shampoo/conditioner do u use, your hair looks amazing

Thank you 😭 the “after” picture from my hair cut looks extra shiny and nice because they blow dried and round brushed it. I switch up my shampoo and conditioner a few times a yr but I’ve been liking the renpure coconut cream shampoo and conditioner and the corresponding leave in whipped coconut cream. I let it air dry in a bun with microfiber scrunchies.

If I style my hair and use gel or mousse with the curly girl method, it’s way curlier, but I touch my hair so much I ruin the ringlets 😭 so I just use heavier products so it’s softer

Recently Renpure changed their formula to be "for all hair types" which means it doesn't work for my hair anymore. ;_; I get why we have dedicated ethnic hair care aisles - I get it, I understand - but does anyone know a good, inexpensive, White Girl shampoo, that doesn't coat one's hair?

12. brand of haircare/bodycare/skincare that you trust 100%? - My shampoo is by Love Beauty and Planet, body wash is Renpure, face wash is Trader Joe’s Spa. Idk if I trust certain brand names exactly, but I like these ones.

13. first thing you’re doing in the purge? - Honestly, probably just double-locking my doors and staying put. The purge is only 24 hours and I’m not looking to get killed, so I’m just waiting it out lol.

14. do you think you’re dehydrated? - I probably don’t get the full eight glasses a day that I’m supposed to, but I’m pretty good about drinking a fair amount of water every day, so I’ll say no.

15. rank the methods of death: freezing, burning, drowning - In order of worst to not-worst, I’d say burning (long and painful), drowning (still pretty long and painful), freezing (numbing and eventually I’ll just pass out).

So, I already said this over on twitter, but Renpure discontinued their line of cleansing conditioners. Showering is very hard for me because of executive dysfunction, and having a 2 in 1 product to wash my hair and save on the amount of time i had to be in the shower was a lifesaver. Most cleansing conditioners are made for textured hair, so they understandably have lots of conditioning and oils in them, but I don’t have textured hair, so they just leave my hair greasy. This was the only one besides Wen (which is 70 DOLLARS A BOTTLE) that I came across that I could use. So I’m very disappointed that it’s been discontinued. I’m gonna try some other stuff, but If anyone out there has fine hair like I do and knows of  2 in 1 product that doesn’t leave your hair greasy or dry, and that they sell on amazon, let me know? I can’t go back to doing separate shampooing and conditioning, it’s already hard enough for me to shower without adding MORE time I’ll have to be in there.

I seriously think I have found a new favorite shampoo and conditioner. It makes my hair feel so good and it smells amazing. And some of the best parts is that it's #plantbased #glutenfree they give a percentage of profits to charity, and it is not tested on animals only humans. I highly recommend it.
