author's note! | I saw renfield on sunday and just knew that I needed to write for him lol, especially since there are only a few fics on here about him, most of them are written by the amazing @youlightmeupfinn so definitely go check those out! this is a part of my “swift series” (where I write fics based on taylor swift songs)  so if you have any requests for the swift series (or for just something that you would like for me to write) please send them in! I would be happy to write about them! and as always, I do I have really bad OCD that causes me to write in some random capitalization, and punctuation, but I think that we don't have to worry about that in this fic lol. and let me know if there are any mistakes, but please be kind!
Tumblr media
Renfield was taking a stroll down the streets of New Orleans, he tells himself that it is to relax and to clear his head but in reality he was trying to figure out what to bring his master to eat that night. He didn’t want to bring him anyone innocent like he so desperately wanted, that's why he joined the support group in the first place, to bring those people's monsters to him. To bring people that he wouldn’t have to feel so guilty for. But, his boss didn’t like the taste of those people too much.
He spotted a coffee shop that doubled as a bookstore a few paces down and decided to slip in to sit and think about this. That was when he spotted her. Someone he knew his master would actually praise him for bringing back to the lair. She was the most stunning beauty he had ever seen. Sat in the back corner with a latte and what appeared to be a new romance novel that she was on the last few pages of. She was perfect.
Renfield ordered some tea and took a seat not too far from her, but not so close that he would seem weird. He knew he couldn’t bring her to him. No matter how much his master would appreciate it. No matter how much praise he would get for doing such a good job, he just couldn’t do it, it couldn’t, wouldn’t be her.
He wanted to speak to her, he knew he shouldn’t though. He knew that he should never involve someone like her in his life. But, he also knew that if he had the chance to, that he would regret for the rest of his life if he didn’t
The girl then got up and moved towards the bookshelf. He watched her as she spotted something on the very top shelf that she wanted. He watched as she frowned to herself and huffed and she tried to reach for it but couldn’t. He knew he shouldn’t do this, that this one simple and kind gesture would end up leading him down a rabbit hole, but his feet thought for him as he stood up and made his way to the bookshelf and reached up and grabbed the book she wanted and handed it to her.
“Thank you so much! I wish these things weren’t so tall.” She said as she looked up at him. Her voice just added to her appeal, it was soft and you could tell she was kind just from the sound of it.
“I agree, It’s like the person who invented them just wanted a cruel laugh.” He said before he could stop himself.
“Yes! Exactly! Oh I’m (Y/n) by the way.” She said as she put her hand out to him, his body taking over his mind and shaking it.
“Robert Montague Renfield” He said as he shook her soft hand.
“That’s a nice name, sounds fancy.” She said which earned a chuckle from him. “I noticed you’re alone, would you like some company Robert?” She asked. He could tell she was nervous to ask, but seemed like she wasn’t asking out of pity, but out of genuine interest in talking to him. He found himself saying yes and following her back to her table in the corner.
The two spoke for hours, she asked about where he was from, which led to him talking about how hard it is to find good tea in america. He asked about the new book she had picked up, which was ‘Alice in wonderland’, which led to her talking about her love for the 1951 animated movie (He made a mental note to watch it later). They just laughed and talked for hours. Then the conversation led to work. He found himself telling her about having a narcissistic boss that worked him to the bone. And, it never seemed like he really Appreciated it. Then he accidentally let it slip that his boss made him feel like he was undeserving of happiness. He regretted it immediately because he saw how sad it made the girl look.
“Oh Robert, that's just not true. Everyone is deserving of happiness.” She held up her hand to keep him from interrupting and stopping her. “I know it seems like sometimes you don’t, maybe because you’ve done some things that you regret, but as long as you make peace with those things and accept those things, to know that they were the wrong things to do. And, you work to better yourself from them. Then there is no reason why you should not deserve happiness.” She said to him with a smile.
Then he realized that her hand was laying on top of his from across the table. She must have realized that she had done that because she pulled her hand away and seemed slightly embarrassed.
“Thank you, you don’t know how much I needed to hear that.” he said while looking at her. He felt like he needed to change the subject, in fear of making things awkward. “So, what do you do for work?”
“Oh, I uh, work here actually.” she said finally looking back at him after feeling embarrassed. “Oh god i seem pathetic, I swear I have a life and friends, I just like to come here when I have some time to relax.” She said while letting out a small laugh.
“You don’t seem pathetic, I would do the same if my work place was as relaxing as here.” Renfield said while giving her a soft smile.
“I actually go in later, wait what time is it?” She checked her phone and jumped up out of her seat when she saw the time. “Oh my god I was supposed to start an hour ago, and I’m here, Linda why didn’t you say anything?” She said turning around towards the older woman working the register. Who in return gave her a wink and a smile before tending to the customer now in line, the first in hours.
“I’m so sorry Robert, I have to go.” She said as she gathered her things. He knew he shouldn’t, but he needed to see her again.
“Perhaps we could do this again sometime?” he said, folding his jacket over his arms.
“I would love to, you could give me your number and we could plan something.” The girl said with a smile.
“Oh, I don’t have a phone.” He said, which he immediately regretted since he knew in this day and age was weird. “I broke it yesterday, I was going to replace it tomorrow.” He said quickly thinking of something. “But, I can pick you up here this weekend, if you would be interested.”
“That sounds great, what time?”
“I was thinking maybe around 1:00? I hear the weather will be nice on Saturday, so I thought maybe we could have a picnic.” He said, knowing that doing something during the day would mean that his boss could not interrupt it,
“That sounds wonderful, It’s a date.” She said while making her way to the registrar. “I’ll see you then Robert.”
He smiled and said goodbye as he made his way out the door and onto the street, the sun starting to go down. He had realized what exactly he had done. He knew that he couldn’t let his boss find out about her, and he also knew how hard that would be to do. But, knowing that he would get to be with her, made how hard this would be worth it.
“Oh fuck me.” he said making his way back to his boss, but with a smile on his face, something that hadn’t truly been there in a long time.

Hii! Can I please request a Renfield x fem!witch!reader headcannon? Ooo like a witch from TVD (if you’ve seen it!!)
Hey Cece!! Unfortunately, I haven't seen TVD yet, so I'll try my best!!
♡♡♡
He was shocked when you told him about your little hobby.
I mean, he's practically been a slave to a vampire for ninty-three years, so he's bound to be a little uncomfortable by anything paranormal.
At first.
When you showed him your tarot deck for the first time and very accurately read his past, he didn't talk for a solid ten minutes. Just blankly staring down at the cards laid out before him.
He hated the idea of spirits watching over him or something like that, but he was also oddly mesmerized by it all, too.
Not only by the accuracy of the cards or the safety he felt whenever he carried around the small bag of crystals you put together just for him, but how much you loved your craft.
How splaying out a deck of tarot or oracle cards was like a second nature to you.
Or when you'd cleanse your alarming amount of crystals in the full moon's light.
You always got this focused look in your eyes whenever you finally got to sit down and practice your spells and such. He just found it so adorable and sexy all at the same time!
Call him old fashioned, but Renfeild never believed in any of that stuff, really. A rock is a rock and cards are just cards. And burning sage releases a relaxing smell, not chase away evil spirts. That was what he truly believed.
Then again, if an ancient, evil vampire can manipulate him for a lifetime, then he guessed anything could happen.
But none of that stops him from supporting you in anyway that he can!!
See a new crystal that just seems to be calling to you? He'll get it for you!
Wanna practice your tarot readings? He's more than happy to dig into his past, present, or future just for you!
Need some help making your very own sage bundle? He's your guy!
Hell, sometimes he's asking you about the constellations and zodiac signs, or the moon and what all of it means.
No matter what he thinks, as long as you're happy, Ren will love and support you no matter what.

So here’s a little something that I worked on today. I wanted to write something a bit more lighthearted and this idea popped into my head. :) I am not sure if what I wrote is more cute or creepy, it doesn't have a very good beginning that wasn't easy to write, as I really love animals, but it has, I think, a nice ending. :D I drew a little artwork for this fic too which I'm actually really happy about. :D So I hope you like this short story. :)

Sorry for no updates on anything lately (birbs, art, fanfic) I’m super super busy with final exams atm. Sucks a lot :D. I’m also a teeny bit burnt out from the year and am going on vacation next week so I’ll have time to draw and write and post then.
Thank you for your patience (y’all are NICE), regularly scheduled birbs soon!
Oh yeah well I’m here, current fic :3
It is Renfield (and VERY angsty) but I do plan on writing a Good Omens one I’ve had an idea for once this one is completed. Fandoms are fun :D

Tumblr media
You had just landed in New Orleans. Your family is sending you to take out the most notorious vampire known to man, Dracula. Being a Van Helsing, you had trained your whole life for this very moment. You beat out everyone in your family for this opportunity.
Your family had found out where his location was, and sent you immediately. You made your way through the parking lot before being stopped by a voice.
“Miss? May I help you?” Said the voice. You spun around fast to find a young man with brown hair. He seemed to be around your age. You thought that he may be one of two things. He was either lost or another vampire that you would have to kill.
“I’m fine, thanks” You said as you continued forward. You were almost to the door before he jumped in front of you.
“Miss, I don’t think you should go in there.”
“Sir, I have a job to do, If you would please move.”
“As do I, and I truly can not let you though.”
“Then you will have to make me.” You said as you straightened your back to him, and placed your hand on your stake.
“Miss, I can assure you that you would rather not.” He said. The moment he looked away, you took your chance and in one punch knocked him out.
You felt something was up once you got a better look at him. Yes he could pass as a vampire, but with his mouth slightly open, you could tell there were no fangs. You decided to take him back to your hotel room and get some answers.
Renfield wakes up, dizzy at first and then he notices the woman holding a crossbow of stakes at his head “Woah! Woah! Miss, I’m not one of them! I swear!”
“Then who the hell are you?” You ask, not lowering your weapon
“I’m Robert Montague Renfield” He answers. “Please lower your weapon.” “Renfield? The Renfield? That's not possible, you should be over 100 by now.” You said while lowering your weapon some.
“I promise I’m not lying, why else would I have been there?” He says. You stare at him for a moment. He seems like he is telling the truth. “I’ll prove it, feed me a bug and my eyes will turn yellow.”
“If I feed you one of these and you attack me, I can guarantee that you will be dead within a second. You hear me?” He nods, and you pick up his tin, and feed him one. You watch as his eyes do change to yellow, and he breaks his ropes.
“See?” He says as he rubs his wrist.
“Why am I not dead?” You ask as you head to the fridge, leaving him confused.
“I beg your pardon?” He asks, following you, confused.
“You kill anyone that comes for Dracula, so why am I still alive.” You watch as he frowns, as you sip your soda.
“Please, do not remind me, I hate myself for it.” This shocks you as you stare at him.
“What do you mean, don’t you do it on your own free will?” You ask, sitting down at your table.
“Of course not.” He says while he sits across from you.
“You mean to tell me that you don’t do this because you want to protect Dracula? You say, offering him a soda as you do.
“I don’t….not anymore at least, if I could get out, I would, he just won’t let me go.” He says while looking down.
“Wait, you are bound to him?” You ask. You had always heard the stories of Renfield tearing over vampire hunters to shreds, it just does not make sense to you.
“Yes, I am. I do want to be but he will not let me leave.”
“Alright, I will help you, as long as you help me.” You say as you stand from the table.
“Wait- What do you mean, you will help me?” He asks while standing too.
“I need to kill your boss. Help me do so, and we both will get what we want.”
“You would do that for me?” He asked, his eyes full of hope, while making your heart swell.
“It would be cruel of me not to.”  You say as you smile.
Over the next few weeks, you and Renfield meet up every day while trying to come up with plans on how to get rid of Dracula.
You walk into your hotel room the next day waiting for Renfield, only to find Dracula sitting at my table.
“So this is the woman that plagues Renfields mind?” He says as you put your crossbow of stakes down onto the counter. “Allow me to introduce myself” “I already know who you are.” You say as you say while staying far enough away so you could attack if needed.
“Then introduce yourself to me, I would love to put a name with the face that he always thinks about” He said, like he was not asking.
“My name is (Y/n) Van Helsing” You said with a smirk. You knew he would know the name.
“Ugh, are they still making those?” He said while standing, “Why have you Van Helsings never stopped, Do you know how many of your kind I have killed?”
“Why are you here?” You asked while taking a slight step closer to him. “Are you gonna kill me?”
“I should, and perhaps I will.” He said, and in a flash he grabbed her neck and pushed her against the wall. “Maybe I will take pity on you? Kill you quicker than your ancestors”
He is taken aback by the laughter that comes from you next. “Why are you laughing? Is this some kind of joke to you? Losing your life?”
“You won’t, can’t kill me.” You say in a laugh
“And why is that?” He asked, getting closer to intimidate you.
“You know why, If you kill me, Renfield will find out, and blame you, and then you will never be able to control him again.” You say as you jerk his hand off of your throat.
“Stay away from Renfield, are we clear?” He said while making his way for the door, he left before he could hear your answer.
When Renfield came by later that day to see the marks on your neck from his hand, he was done, and he was ready to get rid of Dracula as fast as he could.
It was a month later when Renfield and you finally had killed Dracula, you were in your hotel packing up to go home when there was a knock at your door, when you opened the door, you found Renfield standing in front of you.
“I just wanted to see you one last time before you left, Miss Van Helsing” He said with a sad smile on his face.
“How many more times do I have to tell you to just call me (Y/n)” You said while inviting him in.
“Would you like some help?” He asked while taking a look around the place, noticing that it had become plain again.
“No thank you, You know I was just starting to get comfortable here in New Orleans.” You say with a sigh.
Renfield grabs her hand while she is packing “Please don’t go” he says in a small voice.
“Renfield I-” You look up and his eyes are already looking into yours.
He leans in and kisses you while he places a hand on your face gently. The kiss is gentle, and nervous, but full of need. When Renfield pulls away he immediately starts apologizing. “I am so sorry-” But before he could finish you pulled him back in, taking the air out of his lungs.
“You really want me to stay?” you say as you two pull away from each other.
“Yes,” He says out of breath.
“I will have to think about it” You say to him. Knowing that with your job, you will have to talk to your family about this first.
Renfield was starting to lose hope that you would return. It had been months since he heard from you last. A knock at his door took him out of his misery, especially when he opened the door to see one special vampire hunter standing there.
“Surprise” you say while pulling him in for a hug. You had to make some arrangements before you came back, but once you did, your family set you up with your own house in New Orleans for you to move into.
Renfield hugged you as tight as he could. “I am so happy you came back.” He mumbled into your neck.
“Well, I came back because I wanted to go out with a certain ex-slave of Draculas, any idea on who that could be?” You said with a smirk, teasing him.
“I have no idea, Will you tell me more about him?” He said as he pulled away to look at you.
“I will over dinner, how does that sound?” You say while looking up into his eyes while smiling.
“That sounds absolutely wonderful.” He says while pulling you into his apartment, and shuts the door

Someone Better To Love
Tumblr media
Summary: Love is a gift. And Renfield finds someone more deserving of it than his old master.
Pairing: Renfield x fem!reader
Requested by @kpopgirlbtssvt
“I’m just really worried about her.”
Maya sniffled and dabbed her eyes with a napkin. She and Renfield were standing by the refreshments tables during the support group break. The styrofoam cup had grown lukewarm in Renfield’s hand, but he was too enthralled to care.
“How long has it been since you last saw her?” he asked his friend.
“At least a week,” Maya said. She took a moment to compose herself. “Y/N always texts me back, and every time I went to her apartment, no one answered. If something was wrong, she would have told me. But she’s gone radio silent and…”
Tears gushed from Maya’s cheek. Renfield offered her his napkin to dry her face.
“I don’t want to assume the worst, but…” she swallowed. “I’m scared that…someone might have taken her.”
Renfield’s ears perked up.
“Taken her?” he asked. “What do you mean?”
Maya glanced around at the other support group members. They were scattered about the church gymnasium sipping coffee and nibbling on donut while their group leader was in the bathroom.
“Don’t tell anyone I told you this,” she said. “But Y/N has this ex-boyfriend and…he’s not a good guy. Ran with some scary people. And he didn’t take her dumping him very well. I’m worried that maybe he…”
Maya was visibly shaking. She couldn’t even speak what she imagining. But she didn’t need to. Renfield knew what she meant.
Renfield placed a gentle hand on Maya’s shoulder.
“I understand,” he said. “I’m sorry about your friend, Maya. I’m sure she’ll show up soon. Maybe there was an emergency. Maybe her phone broke.”
Maya pursed her lips and nodded.
“I hope you’re right,” she said.
“Just out of curiosity…could you tell me this ex-boyfriend’s name?”
Maya bit her lips before answering.
“Jeremy Ruth,” she said. “His friends call him ‘Ruthless.’”
At that moment, the group was called back to their seats for the rest of the meeting. Renfield turned Maya’s words around in his head. Even though he no longer worked for Dracula, his ears still peeled when he heard these stories. He didn’t like killing people, but he couldn’t bring himself to just stand back when he knew some innocent person was trapped by a bunch of brutes.
Renfield had stayed out of trouble since Dracula’s death. He had a good life now. A decent job. A nice apartment. Did he really want to jeopardize all of it for some woman he didn’t even know?
But he already knew the answer. He knew it after the meeting ended and he didn’t go straight home.
~
“Please don’t hurt me,” you whimpered. You long gave up trying to break the ropes that bound your wrists and ankles. The tile floor of your ex-boyfriend’s kitchen was cold and hard beneath you.
Jeremy was standing at the counter cutting an apple with a knife. He pointed the blade down at you.
“I don’t want to hurt you,” he said. “But I can’t have you running out, can I?”
You clenched your teeth to weather, trying to stop the swell of tears. To think, there was a time you actually thought that Jeremy was charming. You had no idea the monster he was under the handsome face.
“Why are you doing this?” you asked. “There’s lots of girls out there. Why go to all this trouble for me?”
Jeremy turned his steely gaze to you. He walked over to where you were trembling on the floor, kneeled down, and pressed the tip of the knife to your chin.
“Because when I decide something is mine,” he said. “I don’t want it running away.”
You froze under the icy touch of the blade. You wanted to sob and beg for forgiveness. You wanted to spit on his face and call him a bastard.
But before you could do either, you heard a metallic sound of a breaking lock and a the front door kicked open.
“What the fuck!?” Jeremy hissed.
It all happened so quickly that you barely had time to register it. Some stranger—a thin, pale gentleman—bust into the kitchen and yanked Jeremy back by his neck, sending him flying to the opposite wall.
The knife slipped from your ex-boyfriend’s hand and the stranger plucked it from the floor. He pointed it at Jeremy as if brandishing a sword.
“Who the fuck are you?” Jeremy gnarled.
You could ask the same question. The stranger didn’t look like a police officer. No blue uniform, no shiny badge. He didn’t look like the kind of guy who could throw a man across the room. He was slender, dressed in a purple sweater and blue jeans, nothing to suggest he was some rescue agent.
“I should as you that,” the stranger said. British accent. Posh, like something from an old black-and-white movie. “What kind of ghastly gentleman thinks it’s acceptable to hold a lady anywhere against her will?”
“The bitch is my girlfriend,” Jeremy growled.
“The bitch is not!” you snapped.
Jeremy grabbed a flower pot off the window sill and lifted it above his head to throw it. But this stranger—whoever the hell he was—was impossibly fast. He kicked Jeremy in the chest, sending him shattering through the window. Jeremy screamed as he fell several stories to the ground below.
You screamed as you watched the window glass shatter to the ground. The stranger rushed over to the window and glanced down. His back was to you, so you couldn’t see his reaction, see if Jeremy had survive the fall or been reduced to a red puddle of bones.
The stranger turned back to face you and you froze. You shivered on the floor as he approached you.
“Please don’t hurt me,” you said.
The stranger kneeled down before you. His face was nothing like you expected from someone who just sent a man flying out the window. His face was gentle and concerned, his blue eyes looking at you like you were a wounded bird.
“I won’t hurt you,” he said. He gently wiped a smudge of dirt from your face. “Your name is Y/N, right?”
Your name in his mouth made your heart unexpectedly titter.
“Yeah,” you said. “How do you know my name?”
The stranger paused and licked his lips.
“I’m a friend of Maya’s,” he said.
Your eyes widened.
“Maya sent you?” you said.
“Well, not technically,” the stranger said. His eyes flicked down to your ankles. He gently cupped a hand under your feet and held the knife in his other. “I’m going to cut these bonds, okay?”
You swallowed. Your boyfriend had kept you tied up for days, ever since he knocked you out and dragged you from your apartment.
“Okay,” you said. “Be careful.”
“Of course.”
The stranger brought the blade to the ropes and slowly began cutting through them.
“Maya told me you’d been missing for days,” he said. “I’m in her support group.”
Right. You forgot that Maya went to a survivors support group after she left her ex. Her ex was a raging narcissist, but at least he never tried to kidnap her.
“I guess my friends and I don’t have the best taste in guys,” you said. You dropped your head down. “I’m so stupid.”
A sob crawled up your throat, but then two fingers lifted your chin up. The stranger held your gaze.
“No, you’re not,” he said. “You had a lapse in judgment. Happens to the very best of us. But it does not mean you deserve to be mistreated. Especially not like this.”
He let go of your chin and turned back to the ropes. With a few more saws from the blade, the ropes spilled onto the floor. He undid the ropes next before helping you to your feet.
“Thank you,” you said. Then, you saw the glass glinting on the floor. “What happened to Jeremy? Is he alive?”
You rushed over to the window and dropped your eyes down to the sidewalk below. Before your eyes even registered the sight, your nose filled with the stench of fresh blood. Jeremy looked small from this height, but you could see where his skull cracked on the ground below, spilling brain matter on the concrete.
“Oh my go—“
You stumbled away from the window. God, even from a distance, the smell of overwhelming. You couldn’t shake the bloody image from your head.
“Y/N,” the stranger said. “Are you—“
His voice, and your vision, faded to black as you collapsed in his arms.
~
It was warm wherever you woke up. You could still feel the bruised burn from the ropes, but the cold tile floor had been replaced by a plush mattress and knitted blanket.
Your eyes fluttered open and you squinted against the sunlight peeping through the window blinds.
You sat up in bed and looked around. You expected a hospital room, or even your own apartment. Instead, you were greeted with bright orange walls covered in posters. They were all sunsets and eagles with words like “Aim high!” and “Live Laugh Love.” Even the blanket on your lap was yellow and sprinkled with flowers.
There was a knock at the door.
“Miss Y/N?” an familiar English voice called from the other side.
The doorknob turned and your rescuer’s head meekly poked inside.
“Good to see you’re awake,” he said. He stepped inside, carrying a glass of ice water. “I was worried for you after you fainted.”
He offers a small, meek smile as he brought you the water. You took the glass, your fingertips brushing his, and then brought it to your lips. You gulped the whole thing down, the icy cold renewing energy into your body.
“Where am I?” you asked, handing the stranger the glass.
“My apartment,” he said. He lifted his hands. “This isn’t a kidnapping, I promise.”
He explained what happened after you fainted: Jeremy’s friends showed up, and Renfield had to rush you out of the building to avoid more trouble. Last time he checked, the authorities had arrived to deal with the aftermath. He brought you to his apartment to treat your wounds urgently.
“I don’t mean to scare you by bringing you here,” he said. “I just…wanted to help you as quickly as possible. You’re free to leave if you’re uncomfortable.”
Despite the circumstance,s nothing about this man seemed suspicious to you. Your eyes glanced around the brightly-colored room before landing on him.
“What’s your name?” you asked.
The stranger’s eyes widened.
“Pardon me, miss, how rude of me,” he said. He straightened his back and offered his hand. “My name is Robert Montague Renfield. But you may call me Robert.”
You took his hand and shook it. Despite his snowy white skin, his touch was oddly warm.
“Thanks for your help, Robert,” you said.
“Of course,” he said. “I also called Maya and told her I found you. So, you’re no longer a missing person.”
“I guess I should thank her when I can,” you said. You tried to sit up further, but a shot of pain ran through your body. The way the ropes bound you, the pain that Jeremy inflicted, still echoed through your body.
“Are you okay?” Robert said, rushing to your side.
“I’m fine,” you lied. “I just…I don’t think I can leave yet. Sorry.”
“Don’t apologize,” Robert assured you. “You can stay here as long as you need. It’s no trouble.”
You pursed your lips. You weren’t used to having someone be this accommodating to you. Certainly, Jeremy would never have done this. He would have asked for a favor in return, if he allowed it at all.
“I can leave tomorrow,” you said.
~
You did not leave tomorrow. You stayed with Robert for several days, even after you were well enough to stand up and walk. During this time, Robert didn’t pull his attention from you. Cooking you meals, filling the bathtub, redressing wounds. This man you only just met became your full-time caretaker.
It felt strange for the first little while. You couldn’t recall the last time someone attended to you with such frequency. Checking on wounds, applying bandages, buying bags of food and sebring them to you on a tray.
And even more strangely, it seemed Robert was new to this too.
One evening, he brought you dinner in the form of a hot bowl of soup to you, along with a side of garlic breadsticks and a drink. As he lifted the spoon to your lips, you noticed a red mark on his pale wrist.
“What happened there?” you asked.
Robert glanced at his wrist.
“Oh,” he said. “Burned myself a little on the stove. You don’t wnat to actually see me in the kitchen, I’m a bit of a clutz in there.”
He was chuckling it off, but you gently took his hand in yours.
“Well, that’s not good,” you said. You reached over to the other end table by the bed and plucked the box of bandages that Robert had left there.
“Oh, don’t worry about me, Y/N,” he said. “It’s just a little mark, I didn’t lose the hand.”
“You’ve patched me up,” you said. “Let me patch you up.”
Robert watched as you carefully slid a bandage over the burn. Something about the look on his face…puzzled you. It was just a small burn, but he was looking at you as if were sewing an open wound shut. Had no one ever given him a bandaid before?
Once you finished, you plucked a breadstick from your palte.
“Here,” you said. “I’m full from the soup, and you’ve been cooking all day. Have one.”
You playfulyl lifted the breadstick to his mouth. Robert’s eyes flicked between you and the breadstick, like he forgot how to eat for a second.
Then, a small smile sprouted on his face, and he took a bite.
Once the tray was bare, Robert took the empty soup bowl to the kitchen to clean. The spot on the bed where he sat just a second ago felt suddenly cold, and you realized for the first time that your health and wellbeing was not the only reason you wanted to stay that apartment.
~
Robert had forgotten how nice it was to care for someone. The last person he’d devoted so much time to another person was his old master, and that had only brought him centuries of misery. But this new friend, this Y/N, was awakening some long dormant desire in him: The desire to be needed. The desire to care for. It was something that came naturally to him.
He thought Dracula had beaten it out of him. Turns out, he was simply wasting those skills on the wrong person.
One evening, Robert and Y/N were sitting on the bed together watching a movie. You made the grave decision of watching a horror movie, which resulted in you cowering under the covers. Robert put a comforting arm aorudn your shoulder.
“Fear not, my lady,” he said in a jokingly posh voice. “I shall protect you from the chainsaw-wielding freak!”
You giggled.
“You’re not afraid of this stuff, are you?” you asked.
You were teasing, but you saw something pass over Robert’s eyes.
“Let’s just say I’m not a stranger to unsettling things,” he said.
You didn’t speak for the rest of the movie, but his words did snuggle into your brain. You tried to distract yourself by focusing on the movie, but eventually your mind wandered to his arm on your shoulder. He was warm and cozy, the kind of man your could bury yourself inside.
When the movie finished, Robert shut his laptop and stood up from the bed.
“It’s late,” he said. “I won’t deprive you of anymore sleep.” He gave you a smile. “Goodnight, Y/N.”
Something twisted in your chest, even as he said “Goodnight” in response.
Robert started heading towards the bedroom door. Before he could leave, your lips parted and you spoke.
“Robert,” you said.
Robert stopped at the doorway and turned around.
“Yes?” he said.
You nibbled your bottom lip, unsure how to ask the question.
“You’ve been staying on the couch this whole time,” you said. “Do you want to…sleep in here tonight?”
Robert starred at your for a moment, and you worried to stepped over a line. But then, that sweet smile that made your heart twist bloomed on his face.
“That movie really scare you?” he asked.
You nodded. Sure, that was it.
“Well, what kind of gentleman leaves a frightened lady scared and alone?” he said.
He saughtered over and you lifted the blanket for him to slip inside. He flicked off the lap on the end table, and in the dark you felt his arm spoon you from behind.
“Is this okay?” he asked.
Despite the pitch black dark, you nodded.
“Yes,” you said.
For the first time in what felt like forever, you slept without a single bad dream.
~
The bed was empty when you woke up, but the smell of syrup and the sizzling sound of bacon in the air told you that your host was in the kitchen.
You rubbed your eyes as you sauntered into the kitchen. Robert was in his frilly pink apron and moving the bacon onto two plates next to stacks of pancakes. He greeted you with a beaming smile.
“Good morning, Y/N,” he said. “Just in time for breakfast.”
You smiled and sat down at the table as Robert served you your stack with extra syrup and strawberries. The two of you ate in comfortable silence the morning sun beamed golden streaks through the window.
When you finished, Robert moved your dishes into the sink. The temperature in the room suddenly shifted. He sighed and turned to face you.
“Y/N,” he said. “I feel like I need to speak you about something.”
Your stomach tightened. “Yeah?” you said.
He paused to inhale deeply through his nose and let out a slow breath.
“I know it’s only been two weeks,” he said. “But…I like you. And I suspect my feelings are not unrequited.”
Your breath hitched for a moment. Your cheeks flushed hot. The feelings that had been swirling inside you were spoken out loud, and their realness hit with a vengeance.
“Yes,” you said. You stood up from the tabe and approached him. “Yes, I do.”
Your heart was racing in your chest, but Robert was not meeting you with the same intensity. He wouldn’t meet your eyes. Something was holding him back.
“So, what’s wrong?” you asked.
Robert bit his lip so hard it turned white.
“If we’re going to…try this…” he said. “There’s some things about me you should know.”
~
By the time he finished, it was late into the afternoon. You spent the whole time listening in rapt silence, your eyes widening with each reveal and revelation.
“Wow,” you said. “Like…actual Dracula?”
Robert pursed his lips and nodded.
“Yes,” he said.
The story was impossible to believe. Vampires, mobsters, powers from eating bugs. But despite the outrageousness of the story, the thing that stuck with you was Dracula’s treatment of Robert. It sent a flare of anger in you. You wante resurrect the vampiric bastard just so you could kill him again.
“That’s awful, Robert,” you said.
“It was,” he said. He reached over and placed a hand on yours. “But you know what, Y/N? I used to think of him all the time. Even after his death. But ever since I met you…I don’t think I’ve really thought of him until now.”
He smiled and clasped your hand in both of his.
“I like being of service,” he said. “I like caring for others. It’s why I still go the support group. And…you’re the first person I’ve served without it feeling like a burden.” He bit his lower lip. “You’ve retaught me love, Y/N.”
His words sent a shimmer through your heart and soul. You looked at this man, this man as sweet as sugar and as gentle as lace, his handsome face an dhis kind eyes…
And you leaned forward to kiss him.
When your lips came apart, he was wide-eyed.
“You’re not the only one who has changed,” you told him. “I haven’t felt safe in a long time. Jeremy…he made me feel like I didn’t deserve it. That love just meant putting up with whatever whim your partner had, no matter how violent. You’ve taught me to feel safe again, Robby.”
Robert stared at you for a whole minute. A smile wavered onto his face and you swore you saw tears well in his eyes.
“Maybe we can fix each other,” he said.
You grinned and pressed your forward to his.
“Maybe we can.”

🪳🩸Dating Robert Montague Renfield Headcanons I🪳🩸
Tumblr media
A/N- I watched Renfield for the second time a few days ago after watching it for the first time back in June and decided to write headcanons for our favorite, beloved character.
So, this is my first time writing character dating headcanons and had this saved up in my drafts for a few months. I’m going to be doing several of these as separate posts so that I don’t go overboard when I write the headcanons out
Also, I’m adding Renfield to my fourth list of character fanfic requests, so be on the lookout for that :)
So please enjoy these headcanons…
Warnings: Some language, minor angst, mentions of past abuse, minor violence, and a fluffy relationship
Citrus Scale: 🍎
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The two of you met at Assholes Anonymous at the local church one night. Just two complete strangers listening to other people’s problems and how they got here.
You were the same way too. Looking for a place to spill all your fillings out after having a huge falling out with your NOW ex shitty boyfriend. It felt like the floodgates opened up once you began to talk about your fucked up relationship.
Sobbing over everything he’s done to you for the past few years you were together. Everybody sat there including him, listening what you’ve been through with a fucking low life like your ex.
After the meeting, he came up to you at the refreshments table to see how you were doing. Your eyes were very red and puffy from all the crying, he felt very bad for you. He took out his handkerchief and wiped away stray tears that were left on your cheeks.
He was so kind to you, the two of you started to talk with one another.
“I’m Robert Montague Renfield,” he held out his hand. You extended yours and shook his hand gently. “Nice to meet you Robert Montague Renfield, I’m (Y/N) (L/N).” You said with a smile.
The two of you hit it off pretty well. You saw one another again at the next meeting and it was his turn to talk. He talked about his narcissistic boss that always gave him problems at his job and how it was hard for him to work with that type of person.
You felt more bad for him than yourself. Having his boss hound him everyday was harsh enough. That’s when something incredible happened.
After the meeting was over, he came up to you all nervous looking, fiddling with his hands, “(Y/N). Would you like to go get some dinner with me? I know a great place in the square.”
You nodded your head, “yes. I would love to grab a bite to eat, Robert.” He smiled back and both of you locked arms as you walked out the door.
Once the two of you got to the restaurant and seated at your table, you started talking about your lives.
Robert talked about his stressful job and how his boss is making his whole life a living hell. You talked about your very shitty ex boyfriend and basically walked all over you for the past few years.
“Wow. It sounds like we were destined for each other Miss (Y/N),” he said with a smile. “Yeah. I guess we were,” you laughed a bit.
After dinner, Robert offered to walk back with you to your place and you said yes.
You walked hand in hand, as you finally arrived at your apartment door on the third floor.
Before you went to unlock the door, Robert cupped your face with his hands, leaned over, and pressed his lips against yours. They felt soft and sweet on your warm skin.
Once he was done and lifted his head back up, you felt your face blush from the sudden move. Robert’s face turned to a bright pink shade as he laughed a bit.
“I had a great time tonight Robert. Thank you again,” you giggled. “ I did too. Good night (Y/N).” He leaned over again and kissed the top of your head. “Yes. Good night to you too Robert.” Then the two of you waved each other goodbye as Robert walked away and you went into your apartment.
From that night on, a relationship blossomed between the two of you.
Robert took you on all kinds of dates all over the city. Brunches, lunches, dinners, cafes, picnics, movies, a night under the stars, etc.
He really understood you and your feelings. Robert made you feel important more than ever.
Everything was going well, until your ex boyfriend came back. He wanted to have a fresh start and wanted to start over with you. But you saw through him quickly.
When you told him to leave, he grabbed you and held you by your throat against the wall.
“Listen to me you little bitch. You don’t belong to anybody else, but me. You belong to me and me only.” You let out a soft whimper, as tears fell down your face.
Before he could do anything else to you, the door to your apartment burst open and you saw Robert charging straight in towards your ex. He tackled him full force into the kitchen, with his hand letting go of you and dropping you to the floor.
You could hear the crunching of bones and tearing of flesh, as you watched Robert beat him into a bloody pulp and then stopped.
After a few seconds of silence, Robert turned and looked over his shoulder at you. His hands and face were covered with blood splatter. When you looked into his eyes, they weren’t blue. Instead, they were a golden yellow.
You wanted to get up and run out the door, but your legs felt frozen in place. Your soft whimpers turned into cries for help.
Robert quickly dashed towards you and embraced you in a tight hug. “Oh dear God (Y/N). I’m so so sorry you had to watch that.” He said, as he buried his face into your hair and ran his fingers through the strands. You continued to cry as you buried yourself into his soft sweater. Then as your cries soften, Robert cupped your face with both hands as he wiped away the tears with his thumbs.
“But never in my whole life, I’ll ever harm you in any way. I’ll protect you and make sure you’ll be safe. I swear it.” He said, as his eyes changed back to that beautiful blue color. He kissed the top of your head and then kissed your lips in a soft embrace.

So this is love?
Request: Ok hear me out.. Renfield having a loving partner?? And he's just.. soo not used to that? Like at all?? Someone giving /him/ attention??? Praising him? LOVING him? Not shooing him away? Not barking orders or shaming him for doing something wrong? I needs it!
Tumblr media
Robert Montague Renfield x Reader
Warnings: romance?
Proofread? No
Word Count: 689
A/n: I pushed through writers block to write this.
-
“Surprise!” You shouted excitedly as you bounced excitedly in front of the dining table.
Robert stood in the entrance of his apartment. Dumbfounded as he gazed at the white cake that was placed upon the wooden surface. The top of it had the words 'Happy Birthday Robert!' spelled with blue frosting.
"What is this?" He raised his eyebrow in curiosity.
"It's for your birthday!" You exclaimed, barely able to control your volume.
Both of Robert's eyebrows rose in surprise and confusion. You didn't forget? You remembered? You remembered his birthday? Out of all the days to remember, you remembered the day that he was born? Why would you? It's certainly not important.
Or at least that's what Dracula told him multiple times in the past century or so.
“You remembered?” He gave you an incredulous look.
“Of course I did!” You skipped over to him. “And, I’ve got some gifts for you! Just wait here.” You squealed before you sprinted off to his bedroom. Robert stayed in his spot, still shocked and confused at the fact that you actually remembered his birthday.
After about a minute, you came out of the bedroom carrying two bags. One large pink one, and a smaller black one. You placed them both on the dining table next to the cake. You reached inside the pink one and pulled out an envelope that had Robert’s full name written on the back of it.
“This is from Rebecca. She couldn’t make it but she got you this.” You explained as you handed the envelope and pink bag to him.
Robert reached inside the bag and felt his fingers land on a hard surface. He pulled the unidentified object out and in his grasp was a book, with a title that read, 'Encyclopedia Of Bugs'.
"A Bug book! How nice!" You grinned.
Robert opened the envelope next, inside was a card that had the words,
"I know you have a "habit" of swallowing bugs. So you might as well know what you're eating when you order."
He didn't quite get the joke and frankly, neither did Rebecca when she wrote it.
"Ok! My turn!" You let out what felt like your hundredth squeal as you took the small white bag and handed it to him. "Ok, remember that time we went on that one walk and we passed by a really fancy jewelry store?" Robert thought for a moment.
"I think so."
"Great! Now open your gift!" You could barely contain your excitement as you urged him to do so.
Robert reached inside and pulled out a small, silver box. When he opened it, he gave you a curious look. Inside the box was a golden ring that had his full name engraved in it.
"This is for… me?" He nervously gestured toward himself.
"Who else?" You gave him a warm smile.
In this moment, the only thing Robert could think was that this had to be some sort of ruse. Why would you ever give such a gift to him of all people? How could something so nice belong to him? And how could someone so amazing be kind enough to give it to him?
“It’s… Beautiful.” He said, with an astonished expression on his face.
“I’m so glad you like it!” You squealed (AGAIN.) and gave him a gentle kiss on the cheek. Instead of speaking. Robert stood there in a dazed state for a solid minute.
You frowned.
“Is something wrong?” You worriedly queried, afraid that he might have changed his mind about your gift within the span of a minute.
“No, no, I just… You- you did this for me?”
“Well it wasn’t just me, Rebecca helped. Although, yes I did pick out the ring by myself.”
“Why?” He questioned, genuinely confused as to why you did all of this, for him.
“Because we love you. I love you.” Just then Robert felt a tug at his heart. You loved him. You really did. You actually appreciate him. Not once, in the entire time he knew you, had you used him. That was when Robert knew.
You were the one for him.
