what i got from renfield (2023) was that robert had his bisexual awakening with dracula, and then proceeded to abandon his wife and child to go adventuring with a rich narcissist who gave him that good dick for mayhaps the first six month, but then eventually found himself stuck in an increasingly abusive and codependent relationship that he’s been secretly begging to get himself out of for decades, but hasn’t been able to until the support group and quincey came along bc he still feels guilty about abandoning his family for dracula in the first place.

I was able to get the Dwight Frye Renfield portrait done way earlier than I expected this week. Which is awesome.

Decided to go with a darker, more muted pallet to really sell that morbid, gothic feel, and I wanted it to play nicely in black and white, so I messed around with the contrast and took some liberty with a couple of the colors here and there.

I couldn't get a straight answer on what Dwight's actual eye color was (blue or green) so I did a pale, green-gray leaning blue to make them look extra spooky and an overall corpse-ish complexion.

I'm happy with both, but much like the original movie I prefer the black and white version. 🖤
